Arduino Gas Sensors

We are making an arduino-based gas detector that uses a combination of LED lights and a beeping piezo element to alert users to different levels of carbon monoxide in the air. We are having some difficulty in coding to have all the elements work together properly. What are some examples of arduino coding that can have a gas sensor chip, LEDs, and a piezo working together with a set of triggers, like the different concentrations of gas?

hydrogen gas storage question?

I want to store hydrogen gas(not browns gas) in some kind of pressure container. Since the propane tank is  not a good idea from your forum, I was thinking about using a truck tire that could be pressurized to 120 psi.  What are the hazards in this process. I would suck out the air from the tube tire with a vacuum pump and then generate hydrogen gas, compress it into the tire.  Will it work or will it become unstable and blow up?.

The use of gas generators in the home.

Available pluses home gas generators: * Rate per se gas generator compared with the price affordable euro GASOLINE. * The price of fuel is lower than that of the generator on diesel or gasoline. Available Cons: * Gas is considered the most volatile than diesel or gasoline. * Appeal from the gas and the installation of equipment for gas processing requests for special and separate permission. Our legislation prohibited the installation of systems and gas processing equipment in the absence of a suitable plan or agreement. * Most of all, on our market, there are gas generators made in China. * Gas generators are made on the basis of a gasoline engine, the method of adjustment of fuel injection system and fuel carburation. In accordance with this resource from the generator corresponds to the resource gasoline engine. * Later, the acquisition of the gas generator of small capacity, the buyer is faced with a specific limitation on work: a maximum of 6 hours per day. The resource identified by the manufacturers of gas generators, with the first glance quite broad. However, do not understand the root cause of its increase. On average, the share of gasoline engine, out of which gas engines, floats in the range up to 2000 HOURS. This common resource for the euro generator. Imagine the Chinese gasoline engine, the resource is constant. Next, suppose that the resource oposlya changing gasoline engine to natural gas will not decrease. (Our real change of cars with fuel gas indicates a reduction of the resource engine, which originally was made for 1-octane gasoline, well, and subsequently applied for another). 1 of firms offering gas generators, a guarantee in 2000, machine hours, or one year, although with the limitation, at least 6 hours per day. The appointment of such a generator is not clear. As a source of constant power, he will not do, as backup - as well as the first blackout since most 6 hours (which happens often) determines the total loss of warranty. It is reasonable to imagine that the buyer, which turned off the light of day, will not sits all day in the absence of light, zhdya coming the next day. In general, in fact, a similar limitation on the work looks pretty amazing: It seems as clear that the miniature generator with cooling air is not able to operate around the clock. While that still causes inconvenience to cool the generator, for example, for 1 hour, and then resume his work? In solid power installed thermal disconnector, which simply will not allow too much power to warm up, and therefore, the decision on mode of operation.

Help with 33cc Gas Scooter? Answered

I have a 33cc gas scooter (sounds nerdy, I know), on the side I can make out what looks like Moto Rebel but not sure. It was used twice, sat in garage for one year without gas in the tank, then sold to me for $20 (Amazing price for something that's $350 new). Like new! It is 2-stroke but am unsure of the model number. It starts runs on choke between a small margin but won't run on ON, which is above choke on the switch. I think it may need the idle screws adjusted but am unsure. Has new and correct gas oil mix in tank and has primer button. Help would be appreciated.

Production of minute amounts of dry H2 gas

I need a relatively simple way to produce a few milliliters of dry H2 gas. I do NOT want HHO and I do NOT want electrolysis of water, I also would like this method to produce little to no water as a byproduct. I'm looking for generators because  the minimum tank size of hydrogen I could buy (unless someone could locate a supplier in the UK that would sell me something the size of a propane tank or smaller) is far too large. I'm Interested in a chemical reaction or hydrocarbon cracking method that would require a maximum of 200 degrees C if it requires energy input, but I don't mind if it's terribly exothermic (unless its an thermite-like reaction, then we have a problem) since I have a very effective cooling system in place for it and the rest of the system. I forgot to add what its for, glow brazing. It'll be ionized and remove surface oxides while simultaneously heating the parts to be brazed.

Need help diagnosing my non-working gas wall heater.? Answered

Hello, I live in Arizona so we just tried to use our gas wall heater for the first time tonight (hasn't been necessary before now).  This is the type of heater we have installed in our hallway/bedroom. I lit the pilot and then moved up to the thermostat that is mounted on the wall.  I moved the dial from the left (which starts at 50) over to the far right (which stops at 90).  I felt and heard the thermostat click over at about the 65 degree mark (which seems accurate to me), but nothing happens.  Usually, immediately after the thermostat clicks over, the gas flow increases, and the heater starts to do its thing. I have included some pictures of the thermostat, and heater itself.  If someone could tell me which connections I need to check with a volt meter, it would be greatly appreciated. One thing I want to add, we had a light socket go out on the same wall about a month ago, that doesn't seem to be getting any power.  I have tried several new bulbs and it doesn't work.  So I would need to figure out how to check if the thermostat is even getting power as well.  It's possible that the thermostat isn't even getting power. Thanks SOLVED:  Thanks everyone for your replies.  It actually was the solenoid inside of the heater, but the good news is it works fine, a wire just came loose.  Everything is working great now.  I wouldn't have thought to look there if it wasn't for your comments.  Thanks again!

Hydrogen gas by combining electron- generating bacteria & small electrical charge...

Hi,Pennsylvania State University researchers last week announced that they have developed a method of producing hydrogen gas by combining electron-generating bacteria, acetic acid and less than .2 volt source in a microbial fuel cell. Info at this URL... first heard about this last week on NPR's Talk of the Nation. Here is NPR link -≻=emafThe researcher who led the project Bruce Logan, the director of the Hydrogen Energy Center there said last week on the show that this was actually a relatively simple process. He claims 90 percent efficiency. Also claimed is that the process produces 288 per cent more energy in hydrogen than the electrical energy that is added to the process.I would love to build one small scale and combine it with solar panels. Or maybe try to generate some hydrogen and try using it as a fuel supplement for my car using something like this - . Anyone willing to tackle this one?

I noticed that the thing has the potential of becoming an awesome mp3 player because it has the headphone hole, a button for select, and whatever you need! Maybe someone could use an old ipod mini for the project because i've got one that i broke too. Anyway. To summarize, i would like someone to make a Gameboy Color Mp3 player becuase that would be extremely awesome and would make me happy becuase i have a broken gameboy with nothing to do now. Below is a picture of how i feel.

What advantages/disadvantages do gas soldering irons have over conventional (i.e. electric) models?

I was thinking about getting one of those SolderPro irons, they're cheap, have lots of funky tips and seem to be dual use - i.e. i could use it as a hot air blower and a portable soldering iron.  The '70 looks nice, especially with 100 minutes of use on a full tank. I've got a cheap temperature controlled (i assume, it's got a dial so you can vary the temp, but stupidly no actual numbers so i can have yellow or dark red heat =P) station at the moment which works but takes an age to heat up.  We've got Weller units in the physics labs at uni and they heat up within 30 seconds which is amazing by comparison. Would it be worth getting a gas iron?  I was considering getting one to try some surface mount soldering, but will the temperature control - or lack of it - be an issue?  And finally, what tip would you recommend getting for SM work?  It comes with a conical tip, hot air, knife and a flame tip.  I was going to get a 3mm chisel if i ended up buying one. Oh and this will be for PCB/stripboard/general electronics soldering rather than jewellery or anything else.;=90   Good variety of tips too:;=Tips Cheers guys, Josh

What is the specific pressure of a liquid called?

I am more specifically referring to shielding gas for welding, C25 (which is 75% argon, 25% carbon dioxide). How do I find out what pressure the gas will be at a given temperature? Would this floating idea be plausable?

Basically, I was thinking in my sleep as I usually do. I thought about how less dense things float on top of more dense things. And this got me thinking towards this: Are there any gases that are more dense than the human body? If so, we could float on this particular gas (with gas masks or oxygen tanks of course). This also led me to think about: Are there any liquids which are lighter than air? We could have a swimming pool of sorts that floats on the ceiling. All we would need is the right chemical. Any scientists out there? (I know it is unlikely as states of matter generally mean that in terms of density, Solid>liquid>gas.

how to lift vertically with gas assist cylynders?

We have an overhead canopy that need to be lifted 3 feet into the air, and then let down to its origianal position at the end of the day.  it now goe's up and down with a smaller tube within a larger tube and pins put in position to hold it at the right height.  the size of the canopy is 4' x 12' and weighs approximately 150 lbs, as the supports are made from aluminum.  As we are not getting any younger it is taking its toll putting it up and down manually.  If there any way that we could re place the smaller inner tube with some type of gas assist cylynder that would take it up and down mechanically?  Imagine having to lift a box .,and then down again straight up and down.  Any replies would be appreciated. Where to get piezo igniters?

I have several lighters that I still like, either for their design or intended purpose. But over the years some failed to produce proper sparks with the piezo. For some I could salvage replacements from cheap lighters but not so much for the longer ones - the type to get your bbq or oven going. Here the wire from the igniter is in ne long piece going all the way from the piezo, through the long neck to the flame outlet. As the wires in those piezo igniters are aluminium it is next to impossible to attach a longer wire as usually there is no room for crimped connections and the isolation is a problem too. I also have one particular lighter that uses a slightly longer and thicker piezo igniter, the common ones don't work here as they are too short. Adding more support underneath is a no go as the shorter ones have less travel when activated. Last but not least is one lighter that requires a piezo with not just the little metal cap at the end but with a full metal body for the stationary part. The lighter in question does not work with standard types even if I add a little metal strip to make proper contact. Problem is simply put that like this the standard ones arch over and no spark comes out of the wire. So big question: Is there any supplier or Ebay shop where one could actuall see the various types of piezo igniters and order them in small or single quantities? So far I already struggled to find a source for the crappy standard ones and the only one I found wanted to charge $ 2.95 US per igniter plus postage. Sounded a bit greedy to me considering I can buy a complete lighter with it for around one single buck...
