A few Ipod questions

I recently purchased a used 30gb ipod video from my friend (who just got a 32gb ipod touch) and am a bit lacking on ipod knowledge so i have a few questions. Few problems (earphone jack is starting to go out, battery is wearing out...) so questions... 1. How do you open the Ipod video? 2. Where is a good place to buy a new battery? 3. where is a good place to buy a replacement earphone jack? 4. and where is a good place to download FREE games and extras?

Combining (Rewiring) Earphones Together

Hello! I'm having trouble rewiring my Ipod earphones. Currently I have two sets of nonworking earphones. One is an Ipod 3rd generation earphones. Pretty standard, ones you can find anywhere. The earbuds are completely busted on this one, and thus it does not work. The second one is Iphone earphones, and thus has a little mic component along the right earphone cord. This one, the bottom jack is completely busted. What I want to do this cut and combine the bottom 1 inch (including the jack) of my ipod earphone with my Iphone earphones. I understand this will render the mic capability useless. The ipod earphones have 4 wires inside, yellow, red, green, and red/green. The iphone ones have 6 wires. green, blue, yellow, red, red/yellow, and another yellow. How do I match these up to work? Thank you so much in advance!

Ipod hook up to speakers?

I recently purchased an RCA mp3/mp4,etc player with intent to hook up to speakers.   I am going the "ipod" route only because of capacity with desire to have simple way ot storing huge amount of audio which I want to play thru speakers.   Today I purch a $10 stereo ipod dock thinking I could simply plug my RCA device in from the earphone jack.  When I do that I get a humming sound but no music.  Am I way off in thinking that this should work.  If this is wrong, how does an ipod get connected to an ipod dock?

How can I attach my speakers to my ipod data-cable? (building an ipod speaker dock) Answered

So I'm trying to build an ipod speakerdock. And as you may or may not know all the speaker docks use the data transfer thingie on the ipod (so not the hole you plug your earphones in). I know there are some speakerdocks where you plug it into the earphonesocket but I find the loose wire annoying. I'm attempting to build one of these myself and have speakers available and I have an extra datacable. So my question is, how can i connect the data-cable to my speakers so that if I put it in the dock and I press play you can hear the music coming out of the speaker? I suspect that the part of the cable that goes in the usb should be removed and some wires need to be connected but I'm wondering which. And for all the people who will go with the "just plug it in the earphone socket" answer. That is plan B in case nobody here knows the answer. thanks in advance

FM Transmitted Music: iPod --> Receiver

I'm working on a total customization of my bicycle, and just had to have some speakers. My iPod's earphones are a bit finicky when it comes to moving around with them, and really constricts my hearing of cars, causing me to not be the safest rider. Now, I've tried hooking larger speakers up to my iPod (a few topics on that), but the iPod simply couldn't power them, causing me to need an amp, etc., etc. I'm hoping I've found what I need with this subject. Could I build an FM radio transmitter, to be hooked up to my iPod, and receive my music with a sports radio I have? Would my music be louder, since my radio plays loud? I'm sure I could build the circuit, but it is the technicalities I'm worried about. Thanks!
