Electroluminescent panels

Greetings, Anyone have any idea how electroluminescent (EL) panels are made? I see in this video https://www.instructables.com/id/Make-your-own-EL-wire-at-home/ that EL wire has a wire wrapped around another one, but what about EL panels.  They don't have wire wrapped around a sheet of copper, do they? Thanks

Solar Panels in Parallel? Answered

I know that you can wire solar panels together to combine the amps. But I've only ever seen this done with 2 identical panels. Would there be any problem with wiring up 2 panels with different A values? Solar panel question

Hello i am long time lurker of instructables.com and i love the site and its inspired me to build a few things. that said onto my question.  i was at my local Dollar Tree Store (Dollar Store) and noticed the solar powered walkway lights. so i bought a few and decided i could salvage the solar panels.. so a few screws and some applied pressure later i have some small cells 35.6mm by 29.6mm with a model number (SC3630S-4N) and everything so i googled it and i get this website as the only one listing voltages and mA's but there are two sets and i am unsure which set i need to be aware of and exactly what it all means. http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/432233432-solar-cell-Embeded-Modules-Outdoors-wholesalers.html so any one can explain to me what the 4 values mean i know (V) is voltage and (mA) is amperage but why list them twice.

Arduino with solar panel

How can I charge 12V Li-ion or lead acid batteries using a solar panel? I also wish to interface the three, i.e. the Arduino, the solar panel and the battery, together so that the Arduino is basically driven by the battery but as the battery discharges, the solar panel would charge it. What circuitry do I need? Also tell the specifications of the solar panel.

Solar Panel Construction

Hello Everyone, this is my first forum post!I had a question and couldn't think of a better place to turn to than this.Basically, I am constructing, or planning to rather, an outdoor picnic table. I want to add some gadgetry to it and make it more multifunctional. Sorry to be vague, but a lot of it is still being worked out and since I'm going to post the project on here anyway, I'd like to wait to present the entire project as a whole. My question involves the use of solar panels as a table top surface. I have a basic understanding of how to create a solar panel powered system (http://www.rain.org/~philfear/how2solar.html or https://www.instructables.com/id/Solar-Power-System/). But my question is this: does covering the solar panel with a piece of acrylic hinder its power collecting abilities? I'm thinking of covering the entire table top surface of my table with solar panels. Aside from the obvious downfalls of people using the table and blocking sun, I thought there would be enough time when its not in use to collect power. But obviously I can't have people eating right on the panels and damaging them. Any guidance would be GREAT! I just want to know if I should even entertain this design idea or separate the panels from the table altogether. Thanks!

HOW MANY SOLAR PANEL OF WHAT WATTAGE WILL I REQUIRE for my LOAD ?

I want to basically go green (partially for my house)I figured out the following (Kindly correct me if I am wrong):I calculated the KWhs in following way:(Watts x nos x hours)/1000 = KWhs / day (Correct me if I am wrong)LOAD CALCULATION:Room 1 - - 5W LED x 4 nos x 4 hours per day = 0.08 KWh / day- 3W LED x 1 nos x 1 hours per day = 0.003 KWh / dayRoom 2 -- 5W LED x 2 nos x 4 hours per day = 0.04 KWh / day- 15W FAN x 1 nos x 8 hours per day = 0.12 KWh / dayRoom 3 -- 5W LED x 2 nos x 4 hours per day = 0.04 KWh / dayRoom 4 - - 3W LED x 2 nos x 3 hours per day = 0.02 KWh / dayTotal Consumption per day = 0.30 KWhs / DayNow, I calculated the number of solar panel required in following wayOn an average of 5 - 7 hours of full sunlight / day. On an average in this situation a solar panel will product approximately 0.007 KWhs.Therefor I assume I will require 43 Watts of solar panel, by calculating :0.30 (Required KWhs ) / 0.007 (KWhs / watt of solar panel) = 42.85 Watts (Approx 43 Watts)AREA REQUIRED TO PLACE THE PANEL:I got to know on an avearage 1 SqFt is required for 10Watts of panel.Threrefore I shall require 4.5 SqFt area to mount it.Kindly update me if my calculations are correct.ThanksDevNet

Is My Solar Panel Design ok to achieve 60A charge rate for 1000AH 24V battery bank?

Please I need your advice on a propose project in my office. we have an Inverter (Xantrex TR2424- 24V 2.5KVA) which charge rate capability of 70A. The Inverter battery bank is rated 1000AH 24V total ( 2V 1000AH x 12 in series). I am sure of 5Hrs sunlight a day. and I want my project to charge the battery at 60A rate per hour. Our DC-current consumed when on Inverting mode is 26A DC (Approx 3A-4A AC inverter output). Our ac load on the inverter output is around 540W. In my design as attached, each group of PV (4pcs in parallel) should produce around 30A). total amperage should be around 90A. since during the day (sunny) we will be draining 26A continously from the battery, deducting that from the total pv current, we should have around 64A left to charge the battery bank. My request: kindly look into my propose design and advice where am wrong or need correction/adjustment and recommend with your experience. I assumed a DOD of 60% on the battery hoping to charge the battery to full capacity within 5 hours of sunlight daily. we have standby generator which we can power on to charge the battery in situation where it is cloudy. Thanks for your anticipated recommendation & advice

Touch panel for 17" LCD

Hey guys, I have an old 17" Laptop with an awesome screen and good speakers, but it's WAY too slow for any of the production work I do, and a little too damaged to be worth anything. So I was thinking about turning it into a stationary tablet computer for the kitchen. The type on a stand with nothing but a touchscreen. Problem is, I can't find any 17" touch overlays :( It's wide screen, 36,9x23,2mm Does anyone know where I can find one? Would be cool if it's a complete kit with USB output. It can be an external overlay or just the components, and it doesn't have to match 100%, a few mm off doesn't matter.

Voltage regulator for solar panel

I have built a solar panel as a fun little project, now it has come upon a big problem. The solar cells that I am using seem to have a higher amperage output and a lower voltage output in high intensity sun while having a high voltage and low amperage output in medium and low intensity sun. This poses a problem as my batteries were able to recharge during late winter and early spring but now are not able to recharge when there is the most energy to be captured during the summer. The average voltage during high intensity is about 11 while the voltage during medium or low is around 12.5 and 13. I want to know if there is a way to create a transformer to step up the voltage or create a voltage regulator that can withstand 13 amps so the battery can recharge properly. A link or any suggestions would help.

How can I make a solar panel?

Question by    |  last reply

I just made this panel of solar cells...

I was bored and I had this laying around from taking apart cheapy solar lamps. I did have them wired previously for 4.5 volts in series but I decided to put them together with some basal wood and wire it in parallel, I plan to get some more cheap solar lights and wire them in three's aswell and then wire the panels together in series to get a higher voltage. I tested the ma shortage current on them and it was only 5ma, is that right? Then again the lamp I was using is kinda crappy, I'll try in the day time outside.

Powering a ccfl panel from a broken laptop screen?

I have google'd and searched this site over and again trying to find out the correct way to power a ccfl panel, I recently had to replace a laptop screen and the person bought a screen and an inverter, so i got to keep the smashed screen and the inverter, now i took all the glass of and the metal, so now all i have is the panel. All i want to know is how much power do i need to put into the inverter (if i can use it) and where do i put the wires? i also took apart some scanners to try and use their inverters, but it seems that all the scanners i have all have inverter looking boards built into them and work off ribbons so i don't know how to power these either. If anyone can help me in either of these i would greatly apreciate it as i am trying to make my own light box

Is there any simple way to make a solar engine work with 12 volts using a 20W solar panel? Answered

I want to use a 20 Watt panel I have to run a big 12volt engine, however the power of the sun is not always powerful enough to get it running continuously. So I though of solar engines, simple circuits that charge capacitors until a usable voltage and then discharges making the engine run for a few seconds, however, most of these are based on very small voltages, - about 3 volts. Does anyone here knows how to make it run on 12volts from the panel?

Solar Panel Battery Charger

I'm doing a solar panel cell phone battery charger project for school using a 9V, 3.3W solar panel that I bought from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-3-WATT-9-VOLT-SOLAR-PANEL-3-3W-9V-Monocrystalline-Solar-Panel-/130612072684?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash;=item1e691610ec (I can get around 8V under a light bulb and 10.5V under sunlight.) The circuit is shown in the picture with four, 1/4W resistors because the output is going to a USB cable. The regulator I tried at first was a 7805 from radioshack I noticed I was getting exactly 5V on the output, but only getting 1.5mA of current on the output of the regulator. I've tried the MURATA 78SR, Fairchild LM317T, N.S. LM1804IS, and a few others specifying 5V and 1-1.5A of current but I still only get 1.5mA of current on the output (I need at least 500mA). The phones I'm testing will charge, including a ipod classic, but I'm afraid that the 1.5mA of current is far too small and will damage the battery. I have yet to try using 3W or 5W resistors but I still don't think it would help, I'm also considering using a boost converter to get the current up (also the voltage) and then feed that output into the 7805. Am I doing something wrong? Can I get around 1A of output current from the 7805 by doing something else?

Control panel switches connections?

Hello everyone I need to build a control panel with different switches so that I can control different devices or even all devices at once.  So I have already drawn a plan on what I need to do but it is just that I do not know how to wire the switches so that they can do what they are supposed to be? I need to know how to connect  everything together to have the right circuit First when power gets into the system there is a main switch that will allow power into the whole system. Second there is another switch that has full control over all the devices connected meaning when this switch is used all the devices connected will power on or off regardless of whether the other switches are on or off. Then there is the panel where there are individual switches located and each individual switches controls one type of device such as light or pump. Timer can also be used to be attached to some switch that can be used to allow some devices to power on and off about a specific time. Intermatic sensor can as well be used to power specific devices at night. Thanks for the help.

Arduino using solar panel?

Hey guys. Im trying to have a fading led that only turn on when there is no light sensed by a solar panel that would probably be attached to an Analog Input. I'm trying to figure it out but I just can't seem to find a way to make it work. I also need to figure out how I'm supposed to plug a solar panel into an arduino UNO since it is not like a battery and only has a + and - wire. Heres my program: int light = A0;    //light acivated part int led = 9;           // the pin that the LED is attached to int brightness = 0;    // how bright the LED is int fadeAmount = 5;    // how many points to fade the LED by // the setup routine runs once when you press reset: void setup()  {   // declare pin 9 to be an output:   pinMode(led, OUTPUT); } // the loop routine runs over and over again forever: void loop()  {     // if there is light, dont run code   if(analogRead(light) == 0){     // set the brightness of pin 9:   analogWrite(led, brightness);      // change the brightness for next time through the loop:   brightness = brightness + fadeAmount;   // reverse the direction of the fading at the ends of the fade:   if (brightness == 0 || brightness == 255) {     fadeAmount = -fadeAmount ;   }       // wait for 30 milliseconds to see the dimming effect      delay(60); }    }
