where can i buy a fine mesh screen for separating aluminium powder? Answered

hello, i have discovered my ball mill with its large (2cm) grinding media, cant mill 100% of my aluminium powder, however it does mill roughly 50% after 8 hours, so i want to know where i can find a super thin aluminium mesh flake separator  which i can periodically sift out my powder, from the powder /flake mixture. the powder size i am looking to sift, is sufficient for use in thermite and flash powder, essentially just standard super fine aluminium powder that stains whatever it touches silvery. i have seen one before for sale on diversehobbies before, but now its gone, and i cant find one anywhere else. does anyone here know where i can find one online?

Will hardened lead antimony balls wear out quickly in a ball mill?

I've read that regular soft lead balls can wear out extremely quickly and contaminate mixtures in a ball mill, but what about these hardened lead antimony balls? I don't really fancy the idea of breathing in a lot of lead dust after a couple hours of milling. http://www.pyrocreations.com/inc/sdetail/11961 Would it be a good idea to get the lead balls from this website (found under "ball mills and media") for my ball mill (for making potentially explosive chemicals)? I've considered getting brass balls, but they are unbelievably expensive. I've also considered getting a brass bar and cutting it, but that's not cheap either and I don't know where to get a brass bar. Plus, apparently brass wears down quickly too, so it seems like a lot of trouble when I can just get lead balls, as long as they don't wear out too badly.

How to grind or shred aluminum cans?

Greetings, I'm am looking for methods to grind or shred up aluminum cans enough to be put in a ball mill (rock tumbler with steel balls in it) to make aluminum powder. I read that a stone grinder will cause it to melt. I read that aluminum foil can be ground in a blender then put in a ball mill, but I think aluminum cans might be too thick? Thanks

what do i need to do to use sparkler fountain black powder in a homemade fuse?

Hi, a fireworks sparkler fountain that i had lying around in my room has dropped its contents as the base clay stuff crumbled away, and what i was left with was a paper case full of fountain powder. the kind of fountain is the kkind that is it a paper tube like normal fireworks, but make a spray of sparks fames and colours of the ground, not a sparkler stick, now sparkler fountain powder isnt like gun powder, this stuff burns slowly, probably because it has less oxidizer. what i need to know, is what i should do to the powder to make it suitable to use as normal black powder when making a fuse using dextrin in the proportions 10/1. i have access to a large amount of potassium nitrate, do i perhaps need to add more of it to the sparkler powder.

While doing electrolysis on some pennies, (Pence?) I noticed a copper coating on my + copper lead?

Is there something special about this? Also, Is this a form of electroplating? I doused some pennies in vinegar for about a week+ and tried this. On a thinner, magnet wire lead, (copper +) it had what I beleive is a dark green copper salt, that burned blue. Can anyone Identify this? Also, I changed the diameter of the lead, to about 1/16 - 1/8 (Copper lead, +) and It seemed like that lead was powder coated with copper. Is there a reason it would not be a copper salt? The other was coated with what I think is Zinc.

Can this work for DIY 3d metal printing at home?

Using metallurgical powders with a precision depositing feeder, layout a layer at a time (obviously) of the part you want to develop within a certain size parameter.  Lower the layer into an induction heater coil to raise the temperature of the powder to just below the melting point then hit it with a low power laser to melt the powder together to make the part, again layer by layer.  Theoretically removing the need for high power lasers and either a vacuum chamber running constantly or a constant stream of shielding gas.  Edit: You apply a vacuum or shielding gas only during the fusion cycle, hence the induction furnace. Removes the need for expensive vacuum chambers or heavy use of shielding.
