How can I make IR remote that will be inside my phone????
Question by PavleP | last reply
I really really really hate infrared remote controls. When I'm sitting comfortably, I always have trouble pointing it just right. Of course I realize this is probably an issue with my setup, but it wouldn't be an issue if the remote used Bluetooth. So I figured I'll write an Android remote control app that pairs with a little Bluetooth box that has an infrared led pointing right at the decoder. Thing is, the programming is no issue, but I haven't built anything more involved than an AV-switch box in the last decade. So I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance on using off-the-shelf components to pair/send/receive Bluetooth commands and decode them so I can flash the little infra-red LED. I'm perfectly happy to handle storage and all the other requirements on the phone.

I have an idea for a project, and I am trying to figure out a simple mechanism or valve that will be able to release fog produced by water and dry ice into a relatively small diameter tube. I would like it to be activated via remote, but other ideas are appreciated. My plan is to have a sealed container with water and dry ice on my back. Tubing would lead from the container to a mask I'm constructing. I am just trying to figure out a way in which I can control the release of the fog.

I'd attached two pictures here. can anyone help me with this? at least let me know what it is called so i can further search how to utilize it with my device. is it possible to use this with arduino & how i connect them? if possible i want to use it as my remote control for my device. it is wireless. however i don't want to use it as wireless. help me please because using push button does not work. thanks.

Someone can advice me what switch is suitable to use in my remote control. I had tried push button however it does not compatible with the coding (I'm using chipkit UNO32). My intention is to make the user select AUTO mode or MANUAL Mode. After selecting, the user will be asked to select speed and duration. So this requires a lot of loop-inside-a-loop, if-inside-if etc. When I'm using push button, the microcontroller cannot read the command when the second button is push. I heard, if using push button I need electronic relay.

Off the bat- I have a hauppage tuner that has the ir blaster but I've never used it and I don't care about running my tuner card . I'm wondering if there is software that could learn codes and use it to control my receiver when away from home. Along the same line. I'm looking for a way to phisically press buttons (RF) I'm also open to a ir programible box I could just set somwhere . ps I'm unemployed so money is an issue.

Hi, I have a remote for my fireplace. It uses a RF of 303.87 mhz. I was trying to think of a way to build something that could recieve a message over wifi that would then trigger the 'buttons' on the remote. I found some RF receiver/transmitters but everything is for 315 or 430 mhz. Will those work for 303.87? Or was this remote designed to not be easily cloned?

I'm working on a sort of a scavenger hunt thing. Night time on an outdoor trail. For one station I would like to have a set-up where a seeker would press a button (like a doorbell) which would light an LED, telling them where to look. I know that I could connect a battery, a button, and some sort of a light using actual wire, but it would be great if I could do this wirelessly. It would only have to work over a short distance (a few dozen feet at most) and only for one evening. I'm not especially electronics-savvy, but I work well with instructions. I'd appreciate any leads!!!

Need to raise a 10 lbs, 30" pole from horizontal to vertical with one click and back with click. Very basic one direction car wiper or human elbow movement. It does not matter the mechanism used: motors, gears, springs and mechanical or electric locks as long as it is reliable and cheap. The mechanism plus transmitter, battery and charger cannot exceed $90. Used to raise and lower a sign.

I have a 2012 Kia Soul, base model, with the factory installed radio. I also have two children who always 'need' the radio station changed. Does any one know if you can purchase, if so where, a remote the radio? I am a single mother so don't want to get involved with replacing the radio just to have a remote. I was just hoping that there would be an easy out for me, lol. Thank you

Hey everyone. I have a question about a linear actuator that I'm putting on my sawmill to control the throttle. On a sawmill you either need to be full throttle or idle. I've already got the actuator mounted and it works great. Now I need a controller for it. I've got a keyless remote from a auto parts store that I would like to use. I also would like to have a hard wired button. The kicker is that I would like to be able to push a button on the remote or the wired button and the actuator go all the way out. And then push the same button and it come all the way in. The actuator has built in limit switches so it will stop on its on either all the way out or in. This may not be feasible for me to do but I was just thinking by using relays it may be. If I can't use just the one button then I'll have to use two. There should be no need for a stop button since the actuator has a limit switch at both ends. Thanks

I am a beginner in this area, but been looking around on google for info on servo motors. What is the absolute simplest way to control two servo motors (for a video camera pan and tilt head), from the same unit? I don't want to go wireless (radio controlled), but instead keep it wired. Is it even possible to control pan and tilt with one single joystick? I could really need a beginners tutorial on this... Thanks for your answers!

I have a 6 Volt radio frequency remote control pair and a separate board with a 5 to 12 Volt timer circuit that turns power off to a load after 1 to 300 seconds. The timer circuit uses capacitors and resistors including a variable resistor plus a 555 too plus jumpers from Amazon.com to see a picture,it lists as: GEREE Timer Relay Switch 1-300 second 5V 9V 12v DC input TIME OVER RESET Delay. Will it work if I connect the RFRC to power and then from there wire to the timer and then wire the timer to my load so that I can remotely make the timer circuit operate my load for the set time? I ask so as not to burn a thing that takes weeks to get. Will the 1 channel remote control receiver's single relay reset back into a NO condition from NC after current stops flowing from the battery power and through he remote control's 5 pin relay into the capacitor(s) of the timer circuit, that is to say, will the remote relay reset to NO after the timer's single relay goes back from NC to NO after the capacitor(s) run out of charge? As a note, I have had very little success finding a remote controlled timer in the 6 Volt range. 12 Volt remotes with timers are easier to find but that is too much power, size and expense for my application. Know of a supplier? If I have enough of this correct to make sense then any wisdom in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Vince

The chance of finding the codes isnt a problem but if i can use a IF remote on RF remove (That's what i'm thinking that its Infrared and Radio Frequency, when i block the top side of the original it wont work, and the PS3 will respond (tried it on the PS3 and it still react)

Hi Firstly Im new to this and my electronic knowledge is very limited What im trying to do is make an actuator move up and down using a remote using a momantary action From what I understand I need and actuator (obviously), an ir remote and a power supply I have sourced a few parts (see below) just dont know how they will or if they can go together actuator: http://annbodesign.com/GENERAL-PURPOSE-ACTUATORS-FOR-AUTOMATED-PROJECTS ir remote: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12V-Remote-control-On-off-2-Channel-momentary-relay-/320627757256?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash;=item4aa6e750c8 So what i need to happen is that when i hold one of the buttons the actuator opens and when i hold the other button the actuator closes As i said im not sure how to or if these products will go together, so if not, please could you lead me to another website where i could get the products from, also not sure if i will need limit switches etc etc ps im in the uk, so a uk based site would be an advantage for me thanks pete

I have a curtis LEDVD1975A-2 tv that I got for christmas. I have it hooked up with my comcast digital converter and the little remote with it. I am trying to calibrate it or whatever so I can control the power and volume of the tv with the comcast remote. The instructions for my remote say to hold the set button until the light blinks twice, then enter the 5 digit code. Well, the code the manual for the tv says is 2295. Only 4 digits. It doesnt work. Comcast does have a thing that gives you codes other people have used but none of them have worked for me yet. They say 11326 and 11531. Here is the link to the thing I am trying to use to get codes. http://www.urcsupport.com/html.php?page_id=426

Hello, Instructibles gang…. I originally posted a similar question over the weekend, and then got some feedback telling me that there wasn’t enough information to bring in worthwhile responses. My intention wasn’t to be secretive. Rather, it’s a project that’s still in the planning stage and there aren’t yet many specifics. But I think I can still flesh it out a little bit, and hopefully gather some more specific suggestions. I’m planning a sort of a scavenger hunt thing coming up in October. Most of the stops/stations will be fairly straightforward “orienteering”-type scenarios: “20 paces at 250 degrees,” “north to the hollow stump,” that sort of thing. But I still want to mix it up a little bit. One of the ideas that’s swimming around in my noodle is that, at one stop, folks will be told to “push the button.” It will be dark, so they’ll have to hunt for the “button”… basically a doorbell… and maybe secured to a tree (in such a way as not to harm the tree). When they press the button, a light will be illuminated at a short distance, leading them to their next stop. I know that I could easily do a simple circuit with actual wire, but it would be far nicer to achieve the same result wirelessly… and even though I’m not very electronics-savvy, I imagine it would also reduce the problem of resistance in the circuit. This only needs to operate over a relatively short distance… almost certainly less than 100 feet… probably much less. And while it must be able to operate out of doors (a woodland trail in a rural/suburban park) it only needs to last for a few hours. An LED… or maybe a chirping sound effect… something that would draw seekers from one spot to another. Thanks for any suggestions. And please let me know if more information is needed.

So I just got a new TV for Christmas (yay me), but the remote is fubar'd. If the remote and receiver are offset by more than a few degrees, it stops working. It's working far worse than a normal TV/remote does. It's a normal IR remote. Any ideas of how to fix it? Thanks!

I have a 5.1 speaker system that has been laying around for ages because the remote stopped working and that is the only way to switch on the amp. When its plugged in, it stays on standby until the power button on the remote is pressed. The remote also had volume up and down. Now unfortunately the remote is also gone and I would like to know how its possible to make the amp stay on permanently so that it will be on as soon as it is plugged in.

Hi, I have a remote that I'm trying to drive with an arduino. The remote usually uses a 3V CR2032 battery. I tried just using the 5V digital pin set on high, but that didn't work. Then I tried using a L293D motor driver -- with the lithium battery supplying the outside power. That didn't work either. Any ideas?

Can someone explain what I need or direct me toward an appropriate Instructable for this?I want to make an IR remote controlled RGB LED light strip bank. I want it to switch between two colors, when I press a respective button for each. Or would making this radio controlled be easier? I don't want to buy one of those strips that has a remote control, I want to make it myself, and only have it change between 2 colors. What components do I need to make this, and how difficult would it be? Some instruction or diagrams would be really helpful. Thanks!
