Kids today are computer whizzes? Answered

-BUT are they, it seems to me that many, if not most, lack a lot of very basic skills, they may be able to poke around and get something going, but half of that is down to the manufacturers making it easier to connect things up. What's your opinion is the sub 20 year old population at the cutting edge of computer technology??

Where did you learn about electronics?

Like diodes and servos and radio theory whatnot? Did you take classes? Read from books? I'd like to learn this sort of stuff, but can't find anyone to teach me. I also don't feel comfortable enough with this stuff to buy a bunch of parts and mess around with a book..

Aspiring techie. Where do I find the skills, the tools, the work?

As a child I grew up on legos and K'nex, and I wish my first computer had come earlier in life. I want to pursue more things like programming, robotics, working on cars and lighting the neighborhood with massive LED Beacons of custom-PC goodness. I've tried some researching of certain topics on my own, but I usually run into some difficult roadbumps. Particularly, there often runs a gap between beginner and advanced knowledge I find hard to bridge. I started off great with some programming classes at college, but their department is lacking. The other significant obstacle that comes to mind is cost. It's hard to shell out for new tools and parts for every project. Do you have any advice? Where could I find an entry-level job at an electronics re-saler, or something like that? I don't really have the skills for a mechanic, but what might be a first step? Or, something pre-programming that I could learn from- particularly for game or software development? Which schools in the Midwest have more hands-on training?

LED lighting help?!

I am in the process of building a jewelry armoire / box / chest (whatever you wish to call it) and I am wanting to add just two LED's that will come on when the door is opened on the jewelry box and they will go off when the door is closed. Having novice skills in electronics and handyman skills in woodworking I was wondering what I would need to accomplish this and if it could be battery powered...

I'm poor, have no special tools or skills, but I love steampunk. Anything cool I can make without denting my wallet? :/

I have loved steampunk style for a while now, as well as costume design (since I am an anime fan too), but I've only recently decided to jump in on all the fun. However, despite my age and interest, I have no skills in design, save for plushies I make for spare change, and I have no special tools or equipment. On top of that, I'm seriously pretty damn poor--as in I pay no tuition at college at ALL, because they pity me that damn much...So, is there anything out there I can make that won't leave my family starving on the street, requires no special tools or equipment, little experience, but still looks completely amazing? The only thing I've seen like this before are Greensteam's goggles... :/

group idea

Hi, I'm Tieguy, I've been thinking about creating a group that would bring developers, musicians, programmers, inventors, people who are interested in games and robotics and any forms of geek together to work at common causes. For example, if someone came up with an idea for a game or application but didn't have a certain skill or equipment that it would require they could come to the group and ask for help, or if someone wanted to learn a skill they could ask someone in the group to give them a few pointer. I came up with this because I've got thousands of ideas for application, inventions, games etc. but half the time i don't have the resources or skills to make it a reality. Anyways, I was wondering if I created this group any one would consider joining. If it became popular enough I would go on to creating a website. please post any comments.

Anyone interested in helping make a Video Game?

Hi. I am looking for some people to help make Video Games. I have lots of ideas, but absolutely NO coding, design, or music composing skills. I am looking for people who have those skills, and want to help. I don't really have the money, but I was going to put those games on Kickstarter, so that could pay, if you really wanted to. If you don't want to be paid, that would be great too.               Some ideas I have are: A game called "Video Game Tycoon" (Because people like tycoon games right now) where you could be either a Youtuber, Game Designer, Game Company, or Store Manager. You probably know what happens next because all tycoon games have the same goal, so i won't say much else. Another would be Tiny Wars. where you would command a small army of troops, tanks, planes, and other war things. As you level up, you could get more advanced troops, maybe even Spaceships. That's just SOME of my ideas. But again, I don't have the skills.                   SO PLEASE HELP A GUY OUT!

Ideas for a Teleoperated Project

I want to make my first Instructable, and I would very much like to do a project that is teleoperated via the internet. I have strong web application and embedded software skills, so I am doing this to combine the two with a web control panel and whatever the project will be. However, my mechanical and electronic skills are lacking (yet not absent). Does anyone have an idea of what the physical end of the project should be (what should be controlled)? At first I was thinking about doing a remote controlled car, but that is not original enough. I am looking for ideas of things anyone that goes to the site can control, so something that would be OK to give control of to the public. Thanks for your help, I will give credit to whoever comes up with the idea.
