Voice changers

I know voice changers have been done, but theres only 2 instructables for some rather simple changers and other forum queries are quite old. What I'm looking for is a diy, real time voice changer circuit that can alter pitch and modulation, preferably with pots for fine tuning rather than presets, hopefully without the tinny sound I hear from the majority of samples I've listened to. An amped output with volume control would be cool too to overpower the users voice a bit easier. I'm looking for an output akin to this as an ideal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dqr5K0K4wL4 I'm no stranger to micro electronics, I can read codes and, with a little review, understand gates and ICs but still have no clue how to design my own circuits to do more than flipflop and turn things on and off. Any ideas ? Kits, DIY plans etc ? Simple and portable is better, want to incorporate it into a costume.

troubleshooting voice modulator

About four years ago I bought this robot voice kit for a halloween costume: http://www.kemo-electronic.de/en/Hobby-School/B107-Robot-voice.php (the scematics are near the bottom of the data sheet) I never finished it and now that I put it together it's not working. The signal goes through to the amplifier, but without the modulating happening. Does anyone know what the problem could be, or if there is a way to narrow it down without desoldering and testing the components individually? Thanks

Transistor voice modulation?

Alright, i know now that there is a way to modulate your voice from putting signal in on the voltage pin of a transistor, and controlling it with a synth into the input voltage. But now, what is that effect? and what is a way to smooth out or get clean sounds from it? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I want to build a voice changer that takes its input from a line out?

Hi I want to build an "in-line" voice changer. There are loads of kits and devices to build one that takes input from a microphone but I cannot find an inline one at a sensible price. I bought a Vellman kit - but this too has an on board mini microphone. https://www.velleman.eu/downloads/0/minikits/manuals/manual_mk171.pdf   I was considering just replacing the mic with a line-in socket. I will also attach a line out socket to the speaker output pins. I have done some reading and it appears as if: The mic output will be a few millivolts. The line input will be 1-1.5v So looks like something will go phut. Can I just put a resistor in line with the line-in socket - and if so what size? Any other thoughts on how I can do this with hardware (not software). Many thanks Steve

Where can I buy a premade vox / PA-style voice-override circuit?

I have a pair of hearing protection headphones.  I want to play radio & walkie-talkie through them.  However, when the walkie talkie plays, I want the radio to cut out. This is a basic PA-style circuit.  Some sound mixers have this too.  I can find circuit schematics online, but no time to build a circuit. Is there a pre-made device I can buy to do this?  Ideally it'd be a small box with 3 audio jacks - 2 inputs & 1 output.  One of the audio inputs would override the other. This would also be great for things like music + GPS in the car.  Is there something premade that I can buy?  I'd rather not have to build & debug a DIY circuit, as I really don't have the time right now.

Electric synthesized talk box? Answered

This is find of a run off of a previous question, where someone came up with the idea of making my voice sound like that in song Technoloigic by Daft Punk. Reason being, I'l be wearing one of their helmets. My question is: does anyone know of a way to make a talkbox that will work off of my plan voice with no outside noise? IE, I talk into a mic and the output is the sound from a talkbox. It would have to be small enough to fix into a coat pocket (so roughly the size of a pack of  cards).

FM Transmitter with voice recorder.

This is what I would like to have made. I see these in spy websites for cheap. I don't want to spy on anyone but need for for another reason. Can anyone here on this site point me in the right direction. It's a short range FM Transmitter that has a built in voice recorder for up to 4 minutes made. The recorder would have a simple button that you would press to record with a built-in mic and small speaker for playback. The recording when transmitting would loop forever. The unit would be powered by a small battery and solar panel or just solar panel if that would work both indoors and out. The unit would only have to transmit during daytime hours. I would need the FM Transmitter to transmit no more than 100 feet and to meet FCC for USA. The transmission would need to be a very clear transmission because it is going to be used for advertising. It does not need to be in stereo. I've attached an image of what I would like to have made and the case is available at http://www.polycase.com/ Thanks Gregg

Is there anything that emits a high frequency that human ears can't hear yet would scramble digital voice recorder. Answered

As I'm a local chairman for a union. Sometimes an investigation isn't going as we would like it. And the company that employs us sets a portable voice recorder up so, that they can transcribe it at a later date. So my thought was if I could scramble or delete the recording somehow then everybody stays working. No harm. No foul, Right??? It may be wrong, but is it really. When you are trying everything you got to keep people employed, that have made an error or two on there job. Please Help. All the knowledge that you guys have brought forth so far is amazing. Leonardo - Warning System + Voice Recognition

I designed and built a warning system, using 3 sensors, that detect when an object is approaching. The system also has a toggle switch and a buzzer. When the toggle switch is in the OFF position: If there are no objects nearby the LED turns GREEN, if either sensor 1 or 3 detect an object the LED turns YELLOW and finally if the object is between sensors 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 the LED turns RED. When the toggle switch is in the ON position:  Same as OFF position + buzzer  beeping depending on color of LED. Now I would like to add voice recognition to my system. I purchased a JY-MCU Bluetooth Wireless Serial Port Module and was able to test it using a simple program that changed the color of my LED depending on the command I gave it using my phone. My problem now is that whenever I tried to add the voice recognition capability to my warning system its not working. The code I'm using makes sense but I'm new at this so I might be missing something. I'll be posting 3 codes: 1)Warning System 2)Test for Voice Recognition 3) Current non-working code.

What makes a voice male or female, besides pitch?

I am making an animated film, and I plan to voice the whole thing. thanks to my wizardly powers of audio editing (aided by Soundtrack Pro, no less) I can make it sound like anything I want! but, what exactly makes a female voice sound female? I know pitch is a part of it, but just raising the pitch on a deep-voiced male (read: Me) does not girly voice make. Audio and/or music terms? suggestions? thoughts?  feel free to post any of the above.  Ciao!

MS Agent Voice Recognition ...not TTS

I can't seem to locate any code snippets for the MS Agent Voice Recognition control. I understand It's not really supposrted any longer but I recall the voice recognition was incredibly accurate; especially for its time. The text-to-speech wasn't much impressive, but I'd really like to see some code for the VR; just to jog my memory as to what needs to be done. I remember it being relatively simple to create your own database or data file of words [or hard code it]. I have VB6 loaded with everything ready to go [tts AND vr], just don't remember how to initiate the "listening" and interface with the input. I have the current MSNET IDE, but not sure if those old controls are compatible. If I have to switch over though, it's no biggie. Any help is appreciated. I have an excellent ible idea I'd like to see come to life.

Can anyone suggest an inexpensive voice modulator?

I'm building a Dalek costume for my daughter, and i'd like to surprise her with some ability to speak in a Dalek-like voice.  I'm hoping to find something simple (and inexpensive so i don't get in trouble with my wife) that distorts her voice somewhat, at least getting her voice into the ballpark of the iconic "EXTERMINATE!!" sound, and I can move the mic up into her helmet and hide a speaker somewhere.  Any thoughts? I'm sure if anyone has some input, i'll find the help here.  Cheers!

Help with an Idea to hack Amazon Echo Alexa for robotics

Hi Everyone! I have been consumed with the idea of using an Amazon Echo as a foundation for a robotics project.  It has a simplistic IFTTT command ability which would make great functionality for a robot.  There are lots of simple on off switches already compatible with the device.  The Echo is cloud based and constantly learning so the voice cammands will be come more and more streamlined over time.  It already is wifi and bluetooth enabled, can play music and search the web for you.   My idea is to add mobility.  I don't know if I will ever attempt this but I am intrigued to see what we can come up with.  Using RFID tags to identify people in my home, I can imagine easily telling Alexa to come to me or to do certain activities.  Set alarms for reminders to take medicine and then bring it to you etc.  I just feel like this allows an easy leap for some home robotics.   One idea is to marry it to a Roomba so it has other functionality.  Add a wireless video camera.  Keeping it as "off the shelf" components as possible would be great.  I don't know where I am headed with this but I would love for others on here to chime in and put in their two cents worth.  Thanks for reading this and I hope to hear from some of you.   update:  I'm thinking of making an Instructable from what I've learned so far. instead of posting add ons here in comments.
