Hello everyone, I have the water meter (it's just having piston and analog meter). I want to connect this meter to msp430g2553 chip. Watch water resistance? Answered

I recently got a new watch for my 18th birthday. On the back of it, it said "5 ATM". I looked it up, and supposedly it should be water resistant to 50 meters or 165 feet. However, all places I went to online said to only have it around sinks, "slight splashes", shallow water, and to not use it for snorkeling. I live near the ocean and would most likely use it for that; not for any real diving though. Shouldn't a 50 meter tested watch be able to handle a few feet of water, or is it because it's saltwater that it would not be able to?

A water vapour fountain?

I´m just wondering if this is possible at all. If you use a sunoven you can concentrate sunlight, or a set of mirrors in the same way as those sun energy centrals the sunlight creates a hotspot. Or so I think. Could you then use a normal fountain like sprinkler to get water to that hotspot using a solarpump, a pump on solar energy. If the water goes through the hotspot would it then evaporate on place ? Or am I mistaken that the hotspot would not be in thin air ? Would it be possible to somehow create one then, and get something like that ?

Hot water cylinder question! Answered

Ok, so you have a hot water cylinder full of hot water... no matter in which way it is heated, how does it stay hot all the way until all the hot water is used up when you having a shower or whatever?... which seems like a full tank, piping hot until the end. If you are replacing the hot water with cold water as it is being used would this not just regulate the water temp and make it colder straight away? If you have a hot cup of tea, just add a little cold water... why does this not happen with a hot water cylinder? Thanks

Because we don't wanna get into business of making our own gears we are looking for ways to implement water jet system. The problem is we just can't figure out what is gonna do a good job of being our turbine. Any suggestions? Does anyone know if the intake half of automotive turbocharger is gonna for pumping water?

The problem is... i'm not exactly sure what to look for. There's so much info out there on such a seemingly simple topic, and i'm having a little bit of trouble digesting it all. I'd appreciate it if anyone could give me the quick and dirty version of what i need to look for in one of these things. Thank you!

The Ultimate Water-Powered Rocket!

NASA and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) have launched a water-powered rocket 1300 feet into the atmosphere! The rocket was actually propelled by a frozen mixture of "nanoscale aluminium" (isn't that "dust"?) and water, pumped in at the consistency of toothpaste and then frozen in place. The propellant is known as ALICE (aluminium and ice - convenient, eh?)Earlier this month, the collaborative team, Drs. Steven F. Son and Tim Pourpoint of Purdue, Rich Yetter and Grant Risha of Penn State, Vigor Yang of Georgia Tech, Harold Bell and Frank Bauer of NASA, and Mitat Birkan and Thomas Russell of AFOSR watched as the rocket soared high into the sky, to 1300 feet near Purdue University.ALICE is generating excitement among the researchers because it has the potential to replace some liquid or solid propellants. It is a promising propellant energetically. Theoretically, when it is optimized, it could have a higher performance than a conventional propellant. In addition, because of the abundance and easy handling of the raw materials, ALICE could potentially become the propellant of choice for missions leaving other planets, since it could be (relatively) easy to manufacture from local raw materials and far easier to store than cryogenic fuels. Automated arduino Water gun

Hi, Im looking for some advice on a current project.. The idea is to build an arduino controlled water turret that sprays water at cats in my back garden. The basis of the idea is a few PIRs to cover 360 degrees, a stepper motor and possibly a windscreen washer kit to spray the water. I want the project to be portable so dont particually want to have a mains water feed. My main issue is the method of spraying the water, Im considering a 12v pump kit but thinking there could be an issue with how far one of these pumps would actually spray the water. I have an ardunio uno and a couple PIRs and dont want to be spending a great amount of money on the project although if i can find a decent method of firing the water then i could increase the budget slightly.  Any ideas or similar projects out there where i might get some inspiration?  Any help would be appriciated

Peltier Air Water Harvester

I was looking around at some of the air water harvesters tonight and of thinking about using a Peltier unit for one. Just started thinking and I know very little about either one of these. So my question is, could you use the cold side of a peltier to get an air current down to just below dew point causing humidity to condense on maybe a heat sink or something so it could be collected and use the hot side to create the air flow by a chimney effect? No moving parts.  Solar power it so it an be used anywhere in the world? Could be something that could supply clean water to people in need.

Wireless water level indicator?

I have a tank that's above my 2 story house. I did use a 50 foot Ethernet cable and wire up a level indicator, with 5 levels from empty to full. But the wires always corroded, and it just stopped working. What i'am looking for is a way, to do the same wirelessly. Maybe even automate via ifttt, as my motor is connected to a smart plug the HS100. How can i accomplish this, the tank is open to the elements, so something waterproof, and solar/battery operated would be great. I did think of the Xiaomi Water sensor, which generally checks for dampness, but that needs a Xiaomi gateway, so what does the community suggest?

Water-damaged PCB repair

So water leaked in to the General Electronic Module (GEM) on my pickup and now it's acting all funny. A/C runs when the ignition is off, randomly switching to 4L, airbag light chattering on and off, etc. I want to try and repair it. My intuition is that it just acts up when there's stray conductivity between traces/elements, so if I give it a good clean and keep it dry it should work like new. However, I noticed upon pulling it apart that there's some corrosion taking place. Can anyone suggest a good way to repair these traces/SMD resistors? I have a soldering iron but heavily oxidized things don't take solder well in my experience. Or should I just put some lacquer on it and not worry about it?Thanks!

Any help with the design of a circulating temperature controlled water bath for sous vide cooking?

I am a keen amateur cook who will soon be beginning my professional training as a chef and I have become very interested in molecular gastronomy particularly in the sous vide style of cooking things in a water bath at a specific temperature the their perfect level of doneness. I realize that I will need: some way to circulate the water so that there aren't hot patches also a quite accurate thermostat with a digital display a well insulated and obviously water tight container It's been a while since high school physics and my knowledge of circuitry is a little rusty but that said if reminded a bit I do understand a fair bit about it. Also if you think it will be more economically viable to buy one then just let me know. Thanks
