External HDD isnt recongnized? Answered

I have a Iomega F7BJ2101PA External 300 Gb Harddrive and it stopped being recongnized by all computers.

I've already checked that the cord is fine, it has enough power, and isnt recognized by windows explorer and device manager.

AND when I got to Iomega site to get the drivers they say they dont recongze the serial number.

What do I do?

I agree with Lemonie, take the drive out and toss it into an avaliable computer, I have an external case that doesn't like certain drives and it doesn't format drives properly. Could be the same for you.

I'd advise taking the drive out of the enclosure if possible (like caitlins') Unless it's under warranty.

What is the serial number you are putting in to search for?
I have an Iomega drive and had no trouble with the search for it even though it is quite old.

Are there any clicking noises or loud whining sounds coming from the drive? Do you hear or feel the hard drive spinning up when power is applied?

The physical drive may have gone bad or is corrupted.  You could try to take apart the external drive to mount the hard disk directly in your computer if you have experience to troubleshoot it.
