8-bit playback help? Answered

okay, simply what I want to make is a small device using a microcontroller (an arduino or maybe something more basic) and all I need it to do is play an 8-bit track when a button is pressed. unfortunately I have little experience in the area of programming and microcontrollers although I have basic skills like soldering. any help is greatly appreciated , Thankyou!

I think doing what you want will be a long walk if you go microcontroller way specially if you have no or very little experience.

Best way is to use sound recording ICs.Recording sound is very easy. Record whatever you want .They have trigger input. Just add one button and you are done. No need to go for microcontroller !

You can do the same with a cheap MP3 player loaded with the 8-bit audio you want to play. Then all you have to do is hit the play button. But if you want to make a project out of it here is what you need.

Get an Arduino and the Wave Shield. The library for the wave shield will have a simple example that will do what your looking to do. Essentially your turning the Arduino into an MP3 player.
