Challenge: A key defroster for opening bike locks in winter.

Hello all.So I live in Montreal, winter is long here. Every morning opening our bike locks is problematic. We fixed it partially with lube, but this post is not about these solutions.I have been looking for a device that could heat the frozen core of the lock. You can see an image attached of a product not available anymore to get the idea. I guess it was not working very well...I have zero knowledge in electronics/electricity. I thought this question could be interesting/challenging for some of you. So ideally the gadget would be:Small enough to be carried on the key chain or in a commute bag.Able to be inserted in any type of locksBuilt with a safe way to prevent unwanted switch on (to avoid burning bags/pockets/houses...Lol)Able to produce enough heat to defrost the lock Rechargeable would be best (USB best best), capacity of 5mn maybe to operate twice a day...Reasonably quick to unfreeze the lock, so you don t freeze yourself (That s why I abandon using hot pouches around the lock, pouring hot water will fix it quickly but then it will freeze again)As I said, I don t have the skills to even begin to find a solution, but I saw a lot of smart stuff here and I am curious to see what you guys would answer to that. My guess is that it must be very difficult, if not I can t see why a similar product is not widely commercialized. I think a lot of people would buy it.Thanks for the reading, I hope I picked your interest. Have a good day.

An Other One

I have made a Plotter using 2 Stepper Motors from CD/DVD Drives. As so many have been done, not sure if the there would be interest on how I made this one.I have made the frame on my 3D printer, and made a circuit so the motors don't get hot enough to fry eggs on.Here is a video of it in action:

Recent changes are clunky, complicated, and a bit annoying.

Let's start with the community:Getting to community pages are complicated- There should be access from the front page. There is no over all community, each one is segregated. There should be a "general," page for things like website concerns, over all information, etc.Moving on to the website:There are no "All," options to view all the updates/feeds.I understand the defined feeds were sought to give clear access to each ordered category, but it's far too many channels or feeds to follow. How are "Featured," and "Editor's Picks," actually chosen or defined? Having to go to the "Feed" tab to fill it up is annoying. If we are forced to use this clearly not wanted "Feed," feature, allow us the ability to follow a category from the category's page. (It's there in the Author's\Member's section so it's clearly available)Over all? Unimpressed. The basic usage of the site seems to be gone in an attempt to be "hip and cool." Please bring back the "All," option so we don't need to follow 200+ feeds to just see all the really cool things the members create.

Bottle Cap Beads

Ok....  I have literally exhausted every avenue I can.  All I can find are already done bottle cap beads and their finished jewelry.  NO WHERE have I found the instructions on how to actually make the beads themselves.  I need help.  This is driving me INSANE!  Basically you take to bottle caps(and MAYBE you round em out with a ball peen hammer)  Then you weld? glue? them together and drill holes thru them.  I have hundreds and hundreds of bottle caps for this project.  All I need are the instructions to do this project.  I am begging anyone out there who knows of, or has made these please, please...  Write me here, communicate with me telepathically....  Something..  Anything!  I am begging my fellow Instructians for assistance! Thank you in advance!! Johana P.S.  I am posting a picture of what the finished things look like.  Some have the wavy edges and some don't   I don't care if they have one of the other.  I just need to make these guys!!

Design criteria for Ibles....

I just noticed that we have now standards that need to be followed if you want to publish an Instructable.Standards are good but not so much if the editing options for an Ible are at a standard from the year 2000.If I had fun designing something as simple as whistle that shall be created in a 3D printer: Then why would I need images showing how I designed it?Or why would I need images for the print settings or idea behind it?A community goes both ways! The editing tools are still sub standard and the images handling is a bad joke.If I need to explain something complex with the aid of images then of course I want the images in the right spot with the text - ever thought about this or visited website that offer similar after the year 2000?Usability is not just a means to provide the same look on all browsers and devices or to be able to use the most basic way to convert a website into a PDF.Usability is also for those who create it but that part seems to be lost for years now no matter how many times people ask, suggest or comment on the problem.I have no problem making my creations available elsewhere if that is the only way out here.If you want people to create proper Instructables then for crying out loud give them the means to do so!And fix the damn category selection bogus when posting in the community section.Has no use for years but why bother to fix it....Before you guys force people doing things your way only you should consider in what times we are and how proper usability would benefit this site....

Here we go again...

Can't remember how many times a topic was started to address bugs, problems, issues and requests/suggestions.But it seems time to allow the developers to read up what the users here actually want, so let me start with some topics and you just post what I left out:1. Working search options.2. Working sorting options.3. A usable Editor for both Ibles and the community section.4. Proper categories and channels, actually working of course...5. Proper HTML editing options until the things the user needs are actually implemented into the editor.6. No forced layouts for Ibles! If one needs a pic in a specific location within the text then for crying out loud stop forcing the user to create a new step for it!7. Transperency for contests! Who, why, where, what... There is no point in contest systems that constantly cause users to question why some Ible was featured or declared a winner!8. Testing changes or fixes before misusing the user as a beta tester - we struggle enough as it is and really don't need more stuff ups every week.9. Working rezising options!! What is the point if a user needs to crop, mame and mutilate his images just to somehow make them fit into the box that holds the preview for the Ible?10. Easy and usable links to the fullsize images in the library without mutilating the filenames! Ever tried to find your images in the library???11. Stop wasting time making a total mess out of this site and just start listening! Three years now expired without anyone actually providing anything that should be standard for every website that allows posting things ito provide good info.12. Make the users want to stay instead of doing your best to drive them to other websites - Instructables is no longer the only option to share your projects with the world but the only one totally ignoring their users.13. For crying out loud: Provide a proper feedback and bug reporting section where you guys actually check in and reply! Where do you want me to post this? Circuits, Workshop, Craft, Cooking, Living, Outside??? You guys must be joking here :(

Interference of codes problem

I want to ask for some help from you regarding of my final year project. I'm doing a simple SMART HOME project by using Arduino wemos. While compiling the function of the smart home, i've encountered some problem to compile it. Actually this is my first time using arduino and i don't really understand about the arduino ide syntax. Actually, there is no error in my coding. Basically, there are 5 functions that I want to put in that smart home. First, to control the lights, curtains and fans using ON/OFF Button, and security system only by using TSOP and IR, and lastly controlling the roof for the clothesline. So, I've problem with controlling the roof for the clothesline. The roof for the clothesline works when the rain sensor detects water/rain and it actually functioning when I do it separately. But, when I compile the code with the other functions, the roof is actually functioned, but it works only if I switch ON/OFF the lights/fans/curtains. So, here I attached the source code of my project with four functions, which are for the lights, fans, curtains and roof.

How do I make a Flash Cotton Flare Toy Cap Gun?

I wanted to make a cap gun that would fire flash cotton. I found a toy cap gun with individual chambers to each cap. I added copper tubes to load the flash cotton & fire out the muzzle of the gun. It didn't work. The first click & all the cotton I loaded went off at once. Anyone know how to modified a toy cap gun to accept individual cap shells, or how to make shells you can put caps in?

Battery power

I am attempting to calculate my amp need for my garage in order to set up a 12v battery system. Using the formula; Watts / voltage = amps drawn, I have hit a question. If using a 12v battery system and converting to 110v, should I be using 12v or 110v in the formula?Example; 100 watt light bulb / 110 volts = .91 amps. Nice! But if I use the 12v; 100watt light / 12v = 8.3 amps.I'm believing I would be drawing 8.3 amps from the battery to power this light.Plus the converter draw...Please tell me which is correct?

Don't keep rats as pet !

When my brother decided to travel around the country, he has been forced to leave the white rat he kept as pet ... and I've been forced to adopt this little animal.Rats as pets quickly become cute, funny, and show a personality that make them even more endearing ... In other words, "la souris" (the mouse), as I renamed it because I was unable to remember the name my bro gave her formerly, quickly found her place in my home and my life. So, happy end ??No !No, because rats pets quickly develop lot of weird diseases :- dermatitis - mange- bumble feet- cysts- tumors- etc- and various infections and self-injuries because the rat scratches or bites itself because of one or several of the above diseases. The health and the life of your rat will quickly become a nightmare, and, if like me, you tend to consider your pets like full members of your family, your rat pet will become a great source of worries ... and if you're not cruel, you'll be forced to give an end to its agony. Because that's a real slow and cruel agony. Most people who adopt a rat as pet seems not to be aware of all the problems this little animal will have, neither how expensive it will be to look after it.The internet is full of sites dedicated to the diseases of rats pet. My advice : If you love pets, don't adopt or give a rat as pet !20080225 update :Despite what I said, if you still want to adopt a rat, then, you should better document yourself a lot before commitment.Member Please wrote a tiny instructable about How to take care of a rat the right way. She is a breeder, so you could ask her as much questions as you need.20080226 update :She also wrote two other very useful articles :avoid bad diseases for your pet ratfun games for your pet rat

Firefox almost useless after latest updates!?

I just had to restart and with that came the update for FF.Right after a nice info bar letting me know that a plugin no longer works.Bit weird as the auto update is active for my plugins but a look won't hurt...As it turns out every single one of my plugins is disabled now and it is not possible to just enable them either. All that is possible is "looking for updates or alternatives" - what a joke! You want to get your ad-blocker working and with the click of a button you get browser bars, weather infos, networks stats but nothing that would even come close to ad-blocking.My favourite image download is now suggested to be replaced with an addon to show me Email notifications or as an alternative to give me quick access to my bookmarks - WTF!?Is it possible that some of our code monkey now also work for Mozilla? - No offence, just kidding!!

Feeding baby praying mantis (newly hatched)

FYI to anyone who has or wants to know what you can feed praying mantis babies right after they hatch. The egg sack i have been "protecting" (i thought) til spring has just hatched a day ago and its only december, my plan was to let them go after they hatched in the spring, but since i didnt keep the sack cold, it hatched now. After i freaked out for abit seeing i have about 50 or more TINY mantis all over the container i put the sack in, i called and called ALL over but no one would take them, and i cant let them just die. Everything i read about them says they only eat LIVE bugs..and they have to be small...really really small..like pinhead crickets or fruit flies...well...YUCK..i dont want that in the house...but if thats what they need then so be it..UNTIL...i called a bait store and the guy (i wanted to KISS him for this info) told me to put RAW MEAT on a string so it sticks in small peices and hang it in the container..IT WORKS!! they went right for it!! SOOOO.........if you dont want or cant get tiny live food for them...FEED THEM RAW HAMBURER MEAT on a string!! this picture is the mom, isnt she beautiful! haha..i mean it!

Electric vehicle motor selection

As any one who has looked at my instructables knows whilst a school teacher I built a full sized electric racing car.https://www.instructables.com/id/Building-an-elect...This had a 250 watt DC motor over run to 500 watts - 20 amps at 24 volts .It was capable of running the car up to 25 - 30 MPH and using 2 car batteries drive for a couple of hours on the flat.Nowadays electric vehicles are all the rage. Looking at a few motores as small as 4000 watts are in use for city use where high speed isn't necessary. Now the question:https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-c580l-580kv-br...This motor intended for model cars is rated at 4000 watts RPM 26,100 100 amps at 45 volts. that's about 5.5 Hp.Suitably gears down could such a motor be a power unit for a light weight electric vehicle. The DC motor I used was, by comparison, huge and weighty. It seems to me that HP is HP and 5.5. Hp is plenty for what I have in mind.My concerns as always is I see no other commercial manufacture doing this - or anyone else for that matter, only electric bikes use small motors. There has to be a reason I am not catching.Experts out there you opinion please.

Looking for electrically conductive glass (or other clear conductive material)

It's been three years since I looked into building myself something inspired by the amazing work of Ingo Maurer. I had a chance to sit at this table (on a bench similarly illuminated!) and it's amazing. It's solid and it's completely transparent. There are no visible wires, the electricity is conducted through the glass. It's by far the most impressive t hing I've ever seen using LEDs.Three years ago when I first looked into it the only option I found was lab glass (I believe titanium oxide coated) that ran about $10 a square inch. Yikes. But materials science moves on. To make my project feasible I'm looking for something with 80% transparency and less than 20ohms/square inch resistance. (And hopfully much less than $10/square). I've read about "FTO coated" and "ITO coated" but can't find anyone who sells it to individuals.Any ideas? Names of possible suppliers, other materials to look into or random suggestions are most welcome.

Contest FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Here at Instructables we run a ton of contests! We also get asked a ton of questions about those contests. Below is a list of the contest questions we get asked most frequently and also some questions that we feel could use a little more explaining. (Let’s be honest - reading the official rules is not fun.)Please ask addition questions in this forum topic - I'm sure there are some we have not covered!Important links:List of upcoming contestsContest suggestionsPrize suggestions General Contest Questions How do you choose which contests to run? We do this in a few different ways.Contests are planned based on past contest themes, what’s trending in search, which categories/channels need a little love, new site features or if there’s a certain type of content we want. Contest ideas also come from staff meetings and through the official contest idea forum topic.I have an idea for a contest! How do I tell you guys? Please post here and let us know! We can’t run all of them, but we love seeing the ideas you guys come up with. How do I win a contest?Post something awesome! Check out this collection of tutorials that will tell you how to write a great instructable. Why do Instructables employees enter the contests? We enter contests to set the bar and give an example of the type of entries we want in the contests. We're not able to win them, though! It's important to note that several employees were authors on the site before they worked here, though, so you might see some wins in our achievements! :) Entering Contests Can I enter if my country is not listed in the official rules?Yes! You can definitely enter. However, you must have a mailing address in an eligible country to win. If you have a friend in the US or another eligible country that can receive your prize, go ahead and enter! You can read more about our progress to add more countries to the eligible shipping locations here. I live in -----, why can't I enter?!Chances are your country has incredibly strict laws regarding gambling, sweepstakes and contests. We try our best to play by the rules, and if we can't meet the minimum requirements to run a contest in your country, we don't run them there! That's the easy answer. The hard answer is that it's very complicated and involves lots of risk and scary legal language. Why isn't my entry showing up in the contest? I entered three minutes ago!Real humans look at each entry! This means it take take a while sometimes. We work standard office hours, 9-5ish PST. We tend to moderate first thing in the morning, Monday-Friday.If you enter at the end of the work day or over the weekend, you may have to wait until the next business day to be accepted. Why can I only enter one contest with one Instructable? It’s all the spirit of fairness. In the past, we've had popular instructables sweep multiple contests with huge wins. This new rule will allow more authors to win! Why was I rejected from the contest? The number one reason for this is not fitting the contest theme - we try our best to explain the sorts of entries we’re looking for on the main page of each contest, so double check your eligibility there. We also sometimes make mistakes or encounter bugs during the approval/denial process. (Checking the wrong box, clicking the wrong button, breaking the back end of the site) It’s rare, but it happens! We’re human and can’t help it, but we do our best to right those mistakes as soon as we know they happened! Why can’t I enter an instructable I published before the start date into the contest? We want to see NEW and exciting content built just for the contest. If we allowed old instructables in, we’d just see the same things over and over again. Plus, the number entries in the contests would make it very hard to choose finalists and winners.Keep in mind that simply republishing an old project will not make it eligible - we check for that. ;) Can I edit my Instructable after it's entered in a contest?Short answer: YES!Long answer: You can make any modifications you want to an Instructable that's already entered! We get so many entries that there's absolutely no way we'd be able to police it even if we wanted to - but it's never something we want to discourage.Improvement is always a good thing as far as I'm concerned. :)However, we must caution you: it's best to get those changes done before voting closes. The voting period matters the most because that's the time that we start looking into picking finalists.Another slightly related caveat: don't publish a mostly empty instructable and try to fill it after the contest ends. We're starting to see this happen more often, always with a promise that updates are coming. You can never tell when we'll be reviewing it as a possible finalist, so chances are you'll get overlooked going about it that way. We are currently looking at 50-300 entries per contest, so anything incomplete doesn't stand a chance these days! Finalist & Winner Selection When are the finalists selected?Finalists are selected starting the Tuesday after the contest closes. The finalist selection process normally ends Thursday of the same week, depending on how tricky the contest is and how many people give input. How are finalists selected?Finalist selection is a mixture of votes and staff choices. We look for all kinds of things when it comes to picking finalists, including: Good photos! Pretty photos put you five steps ahead of all the other entries already, honestly. We're going to want to click through and look at it as soon as we see it if it's pretty! Good explanation of both WHAT the project is and HOW you made it. Sometimes it can be really hard to figure out what we're looking at. (Personally, if I have to spend several minutes staring at photos and reading to understand it, I'm not very excited about it anymore.) Try to convey the project through both photos and video if it's needed. For example - if it's a rocket, upload a video of it in action! A good story! I read more projects than you could ever imagine every month. I love it when an author takes time to explain why they made the project, or documents the errors they made along the way. That makes an instructable so much more enjoyable to read. :) Citing your sources/inspirations - look, we realize there's hardly an original idea on the internets anymore, so we can't fault you for that. But it's only fair to give credit where credit is due. We like that. Plus, it sometimes makes for an awesome story. Creativity! Look, I cannot even begin to tell you how many paracord bracelets, Altoid tin survival kits and Iron Man arc reactors I have looked at. My eyes glaze at the thought. Don't just go for the common and easy, take that project and put a new spin on it!!Relation to prize. In some contests, we offer a Judges Prize. Entries that qualify for this prize are also taken into consideration. We always suggest authors read their own work with an objective eye. Does it make sense if you aren’t familiar with the subject already? Did you provide enough description? Are the photos understandable? How many finalists are there? To find this out easily, go to the contest page and look at the total number of prizes to be awarded. The number of finalists for a given contest will match the number of total prizes. Why wasn't my project chosen as a winner/finalist?This can happen for all kinds of reasons, honestly. See the "How are finalists selected?" question above for a more in depth explanation of what we're looking for.The most important thing to stress is that we are going through TONS of entries for every contest, so it's important to set yourself apart. Choose a clear and concise title, tell us a story, share great photos, explain the project well. If there are projects similar to yours in the contest already, make sure your project exceeds theirs in awesomeness. Also remember that competition is fierce in the contests - there are always a LOT of amazing entries. When it comes down to selecting winners sometimes it's the little things because when you're comparing awesome to awesome the little things are all you can look at. So be detailed orientated when writing your instructable. Judging Who judges the contests? This is typically a mix of Instructables staff and authors on the site (your peers!). Each contest is normally assigned 10-50 judges.Lately we’ve had an average of 15-20 judges complete the process. I always try to add as many judges as possible, because more judges means the judging is more fair and helps to reduce bias. How can I help judge a contest? If you’re interested in helping us judge, check out this forum topic! To judge, you must have published at least one Instructable. We send out PMs to judges on the Friday after a contest closes. How do I judge a contest/access the judging ballot? We’ve written up an Instructable over it! You can find it here: https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Judge-a-C...Once you're added to the list of judges, you’ll be able to access the ballot. Prizes How do you pick prizes? Can I suggest prizes? We've got a pretty small budget prize here, so it's a mix of trying to be frugal but still give you guys something fancy. We try to order most of our prizes from Amazon.com because they have reliable shipping and tons of options. If you'd like to suggest an awesome prize, do it here! I don't like these prizes, can I trade?Short answer: nope!Long answer: we choose prizes well ahead of time and order prizes at the start of the contest (for 95% of what we run) and we don’t make substitutions. We typically have anywhere from 100-250 winners a month (and increasing all the time!), so it’s not feasible to give choices and sub things out. Only three of us on staff work with ordering the prizes and shipping them out, so that would be lots of work! However, we have allowed winners to switch prizes with another winner on occasion (both parties must agree and let us know before we ship them!) and we’re fine with you selling your prize somewhere else. How do I get my prize if I win? When contest winners are announced, we’ll send you a message with a form to fill out. Make sure to fill this out completely and remember that we require a phone number and that we can’t ship to P.O. boxes.Winners are responsible for any trade tax or tariffs incurred for shipping to your location. We cannot reduce the value of the prize so you pay less tax (nice try, though, you sneaky hobbit!!). When will my prize ship?We try to ship prizes as soon as possible! 75% of our contests have prizes that are easily shipped right away and you should receive notification of shipment within a week or so.Sometimes we do have to order items AFTER the contest ends or wait for a sponsor to ship the items. If we think there will be a delay, we’ll let the winners know. We’ve been trying very hard to make sure we’re reaching out and updating winners about prize statuses. Also: VERY IMPORTANT - the sooner all winners give us their contact info, the sooner we can make big orders of custom sizes. Sometimes there’s a huge delay just because we’ve got one straggler. Be a good winner and let us give you prizes, dangit!!

scientists. One of the most common is that it all started by catching the thing and that all was perfect at the time.Over time the orbit then stabilized.Other theories include that formed when our planet formed..What they all lack is what is common and true for all other moond out there: These rotate.According to science an object the size of our moon would need to rotate to maintain a stable orbit. No one told this to our moon, so it just stays in a stable orbit anyway. The only other accepted theory, that funny enough never mentioned OUR moon, is that the center of mass must be facing the orbiting planet. Now theories can run and wild if you let schientifically people loose on a subject.Official NASA data obtained by monitoring equippment on the moon supports the theory of the center of gravity. You see, sesmometers recorded "moon quakes" but also the impact of burnt rocket stages - the later were dropped on purpose. At first everyone agreed the equippment must be faulty but going through it again and again confirmed all works fine.So what got them so exited that was never officially made public? You see, every thing with suffient mass will create a sesmic shock on impact. On earth we can located the source of an earthquake or even explosion quite accurately.Same happened on the moon only with one difference to earth.Every impact caused a ringing effect.Like a bell, the soundwaves and shockwaves traveled through the moon for very long times. An early explanation was that the moon is made from really hard rock or that it might even have a metal core. This was rendered useless once the actual mass was calculated and it turned out the moon would rip us apart while spinning around us.The term "hollow moon" was born.Another interesting thing happens when you try to track down what equippment was left on the moon during which specific mission.Everything up there must have been installed at some stage. For some things though it seems there is no record when or where exactly something was left up there. Then there is the thing with the interviews...If you check the fuzz about the first moon landing then back then you couldn't help yourself but got exited as well.None of the three astronauts however appeared to be at least a little bit exited about going where no man has gone before.Somehow like visiting Iceland for the first time only to realise someone was there before you already. But it was the moon, not some easy to reach island...And while up there we did not see any exitement either, like fully staged and planned ahead.Like a not so 100% school rehersal.Claims that it was a fake and actually filmed in some studio have been verified to be false - they really were up there. After they came back two went silent and refused any interviews about the moon. All three though never spoke about anything we did not see on "live TV"...All the missing segments, the drop outs, the silence during communications...The money...Apart from the Pentagon making a disappearing act of 6Billion US, the already planned and staged moon missions were cancelled with no valid reason at all.One mission already ready to go to the launch pad, crew fully trained and briefed. Two more ready for final assembly.Official reason back then was "We have been there, it is time to explore new things."Almost the same statement was made by Obama a few weeks after he claimed "We will go up there again!".If you take away the costs for the abandoned missions then the money blown up to the moon has a huge difference to what can be tracked back. The lost sum equals out to about 8 more moon missions plus tons of state of the art equippment (back at the time it was state of the art).If you add what the Pentagon lost we are close to 15 more missions. The now...A few years back a lot of previously declared top secret documents have been released to the public. What was a good idea however turned out to be a bit too much.Quite a few documents were included that provide missing links to "incidents, missions, money spent"...Within these piles were documents indicating that space missions of the same extend as the much later moon missions were made.Same rockets, similar crafts, same requirements for water, food and oxygen, some though with just payloads of oxygen and water.Mind you though the documents speak from proposed options and not planned missions. And none of them had any exploration within it, just deliveries if you don't mind the comparison. Those documents about the ringing of the moon and how this would impact on the things we assumed to know about the moon were in there as well. What is really interesting though is what came back from the moon.None of it actually indicate that there is suffient ressources up there to justify mining.Funny enough exactly is planned on a military style.Seems fair enough considering the military can provide the best people for such a hard job. Some normal miner might have no problems getting under ground every day but knowing he is on the moon and might never make it back is another. With all the probing done that we know of you would assume the planned mining operations would be in an area rich in minerals, metals or at least something to generate fuel or oxygen. But no, it is planned to happen "on the dark side" and in an area that appearently was never explored in other ways then taking a few blurry pics while flying around the moon. However, both Russia and China claim to have been very close to this area long before details about the mining became public. And that brings us back to the past and what astromauts stated or to be precise refused to confirm or deny.In some videos we can see movements in the background. In several adio stream we hear the comments to what happens in the videos. If there is light moving around then it does not matter that is blue. You just wonder what it is and where it might have come from.Imagine the surprise if then in other videos you hear things like that the lights are back or that steam comes out of the moon like a gysir. There were official explanations for the first sightings made by the normal people when watching those videos on the NASA websites.Soon after the videos disappeared from the servers.Copies were made by the curious and quite a few videos were identified later to have contained "sightings" as well. Some even show what appears to flying machines with great manouverbilities. And if you take the high point of the happenings then it is also the same time when it was decided that we actually have no real interest in the moon.Astromauts later denied to have ever made any comments like that they are being followed or "escorted" by another craft. And the same Astromauts many years later still refuse to deny or confirm that what we could see and hear during their mission videos actually happened.Don't get me wrong but if the deny it then it just means we all saw some refections or such things. If the confirm it then we know something was out there with them.Doing neither usually means what we saw is ture enough to deny any knowledge about more details. Why then the sudden interest?Trump wants to get up there, military mining, private companies not to forget China. If there is nothing at all up there then why would they all spent money that could provide a much better living for those with low incomes?Even if it would be just for new schools and hospitals the money would be better spent if we trust the official claims about what is up there. The not so official claims....We already know NASA does not want to come with an official explanation why the moon sounds and reacts as if it would be hollow.Same for any video, audio or picture evidence indication there is sturctures on the moon or activities. Here is some of things that other people of great knowledge and with nice degrees under the belt say could, might or even is true about the moon.1. We have no evidence that the moon was always there, only what we have in record throughout history. Some claim the moon would be an artificially created structure.Indications of techonlogically highly advanced civilisations before us are there. And mining out a tiny planet and placing it in earths orbit is not far fetched if you consider higher technology levels than what we currently (officially) have.2. The satellite claim.Like the Death Star our moon could be an artifical satellite placed there for a purpose. What speaks for that theory is the impact craters on the moon.If it was never spinning or better rotating around all axis then a lot them would have been impossible.A crater always shows to some extend the direction of the impact. And on the moon they all apear to be direct and straight hits only. And even at some proper angle that against physics did not create a corresponding crater: Our plant would have been in the way.Officially it is claimed though that there would not be much of a directional crater because of the missing atmosphere and all debris settling evenly.Debris however does not explain the deformation from an impact at an angle. The satellite claim would also explain the missing depth in the craters.By the size of the bigger ones the crater should be much deeper and as said show some direction. If however the rocky surface landed there over time or is just the remaining natural hull then the craters could no go deeper. No advanced civilisation would design a stationary satellite that get a hole as soon as some big space rock hits it...3. Undocumented missions. If claims are true then we have been up there a lot more times than what our history lessons tell us.Tiny probes to analyse things, send data and so on are a thing not the the USA did.If you explain the reason for collecting seismic data by wanting to document an impact of an astroid then it is a joke.Sure it would be possible but what could we learn from the data?Nothing unless you consider that in some unoffial missions drilling was attempted on the moon.Sample collection to evaluate what is in the ground of use for future missions. Some documents now claim that all these attempts ended prematurely.Drills failed or broke, drill heads failed to go deeper and upon inspection were totally worn out.And all seemed to have happend at around the same depth.Although there is no atmosphere on the moon - if you stand on it you would be able to feel vibrations of the surface.Something astronauts would have felt during the drilling. And you can feel the difference between a vibration ending by stoping the drill and one that keeps going for a long time after...The dark side is visible in quite a few school books.Looks like the front with the brightness corrected just with different craters.Ever bothered to scan these pictures in and use some software to find matches to craters on the front of the moon ? ;)Anyways, those images show us the moon as near perfect sphere. What they don't show is how the images were actually made. They certainly did not use massive search lights from orbit to provide light for cameras.Means other sources were used, like IR, Radar, Microwaves and so on.Like we found the ruins of old civilisations by using satellites that can "see" through the forest and soil. And with that it would certainly be impossible to create such a nice and detailed image like we get from the front side.If some is edited, then why not all of it...And if all those missions we don't really know about also landed on the dark side it would explain a lot of things. All sightings seem to have disappeared to the dark side. And all leaked informations about previous missions before our first landing idicate the interest in the dark side was actually huge. They all ended though with one mission report claiming to have spotted lights on the dark side.Moving and stationary and when trying to get a better look by adjusting the orbit for the next round those lights were all gone. But audio recording indicate that from that moment on the astronauts were no longer alone and followed until turning back to earth.Several attempts seem to have been made to land near sightings on the dark side. Those where the astronauts returned home the never were the same again.Documents claim long treatment in mental facilites or suicide. The official missions appearntly started with the backstory of exploring. Some now claim it was attempt for a peaceful presence that still was not tolerated.4. Stories from involved companies.Even if NASA builds a craft themself they still need the corresponding supplies. And for a lot of things they are made outside by independent companies and contractors.Trying to track down early space mission again seems to confirm all claims about previous missions. The amount of materials provided would otherwise mean NASA actually crashed the majority of things right after take off without anyone noticing.5. Launches...So far all claims about previous moon missions or just secret ones were denied.I call this "plausible deniability".In all statements it is refered to the official launch sites.Things like being in public view and so on.What is not that commonly known is that there were a lot of capable launch sites available. After all big rockets have been tested in secrecy since we had the first. The claimed landing of the chinese started a big conundrum. At first the US claimed it never happened because there was no rocket that went up.Images prived by the chinese however clearly indicated the opposite. Not much later it was noticed that a few launches might have been misinterpreted as missle tests....What does that really mean?Quite simple: The surveillance is not perfect if the other side insists that it happened. The plausible deniablity is gone.If the US was "forced" to confrim they actually noticed the launches then it also means the chinese claims about the US doing the same could be true as well. And wasn't it a very important thing during the cold war to know when, where and why the other side launched anything? The silent agreement not to go up there again was broken many times...And although most if not all of these mission ended in orbit only it makes you wonder. What would be big deal even if all claims and conspiracies would be true?A hollow moon would defy what we know about how the universe works. With that it would also contradict some of solid laws of physics. So we need(ed) proof.Assuming we had that for a long time already then it leaves the big question of why it is hollow.Natural or artificial.Nothing natural would make sense so we investigate further. And if people still claim that they can use their little equippment to every now and then hear transmissions from the moon...Sure some things up there transmit data all the time but they do so on common frequencies and not in a range that is and never was used for long distance communications. The interest in the mon came back with our modern technology. We have watches with more computer power than what was used for the old moon missions.Materials and manufacturing methods that provide much safe crafts and space suits with a fraction of the weight of old designs. And we have new means of taking more or less limited energy up with us...We are prepared so to say.No matter what really is up there, no matter if it natural or artificial, just the fact that the moon is hollow changes our views on a lot of things....What do you think would be the best explanation for the data showing the moon rings like a bell?

Drafts???

Someone please help me I've been trying to figure  out how to navigate to my drafts folder for some time and I cannot find anyone else who has had the same issue with a solution. I started and saved a few drafts and watched the little "Saved!" message pop up but how do I go back to edit it again? I'll take a screenshot of what my page looks like right now.  I can't tell if this site is just poorly constructed or if it's just not working properly at the moment.  Or maybe I'm just missing something obvious! I don't have any previous experience using this site, I'm just using it for a project for college. I tried using a different browser (I'm on Chrome but I also tried Firefox) but that didn't help. I also looked through some "how to make instructables" classes but it's all about how to like.. take good pictures and stuff and not how to use the website's features. :( I would really appreciate some instruction! Thanks in advance!

Removing Silver from CD.

Is there a way to remove the silver off of a CD that's relatively fast and doesn't scratch or damage the disk in anyway?

Rock Tumbler Ideas

Hello, first off, thanks for taking the time to read my post.Second, I'm brainstorming ideas to make a dirt cheap rock tumbler, for polishing collected stones and maybe even making jewelry out of them. There are a few sites out there with instructions on making rock tumblers and other equipment. Some being:HereAnd hereThe design seems to basically be a rotating horizontal plastic or rubber cylinder, set on two evenly spinning axises. I was thinking of using 4" PVC pipe as the tumbling barrel, and maybe 1" PVC for the axises. One of my first questions is, will a large desktop fan be (roughly) powerful enough to turn the 4" barrel at 50-100 rpm? Keep in mind these are plans for a dirt cheap rock tumbler, so I really don't want to spend much on these parts. Any other suggestions for motors? And, does anyone have any plans that they have made, or even constructed tumblers?Any tips, additions, etc. to my plans? Thanks for reading my post :)

19v to 12v, 16.7a continuous in as small a space as possible.

I have a 19v source from an AC/DC adapter, i need to output a 12v source at up to 200w continuous in as small of a physical space as possible. I have a tight spot i need to fit it. I have approx. 1"x1"x5" of space available. I'd prefer if all inputs and outputs were on the same side (one of the short sides). The 12v output needs to have low ripple, it will be powering ATX compliant circuit boards. If anyone knows of a product that already does this, i'm all for just buying something. I did a little searching, but everything that works is too big. Thanks,Sean Crees

Download PDF Broken

I tried multiple methods of downloading the PDF of this article: https://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-PC-oscilliscope/ It didn't work here. I got some: DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd looking thing that isn't a PDF when I tried with means other than my web browser. This is the link to the defective PDF download page: https://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-PC-oscilliscope/?download=pdf Someone else in their comment from 2011 seems to have had some difficulties too. Feel free to get in contact with me when you have resolved this issue as I would like to download that file myself here. Thank you.

Control Amperage

Hiyas, I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. I was wanting to build or buy something I could control Amp input. The system would be 12 -14 v dc and I want to be able to limit the input to say... 25 - 30 amps. So if a system would naturally draw more amps I want to be able to control the system be limiting the amp input...if that is making any sense. Got any thoughts ??? tks Huchleberry

Arduino Pish Button code Issue

Hey all, I am having a problem with my code and was hoping someone could help shed some light on how to fix it. Below is a code for an arduino push button counter. The concept is that there are 2 buttons, an "add" button and "subtract" button. Every time add is pressed it adds 1 to the count and vice versa when subtract is hit. The code works fine until we hit double digits. Once you subtract from 1 from 10 the LCD displays 90 not 9. Not sure how to fix this, any ideas?LiquidCrystal lcd(1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7);int add=8;int sub=9; int valadd;int valsub;int count=000; int press;void setup() { lcd.begin(16,2); pinMode(add,INPUT); pinMode(sub,INPUT);}void loop() {valadd=digitalRead(add);valsub=digitalRead(sub);if(valadd==HIGH) {delay(100);press=count++;delay(250);}if(valsub==HIGH) {delay(100);press=count--;delay(250);}lcd.setCursor(0,0);lcd.print(press);}

Net-Bed / hammock style / Mattress alternative?

Hi Everyone, I saw this bed on a blog and it keeps coming back to me. Unfortunately I don't know anything about it, who made it, and how. I did some research (didn't find the source) but learned that many people consider sleeping on a hammock very comfortable. So maybe this could be used as a real bed? This is a burning question because I'll might have to buy a new mattress at the and of the month but I feel like DIY :) So, any ideas on how to build such a thing, or on how usable it is? Or maybe you are the guy in the picture? ;) Thanks, elbotho

In this connection that i think is right , the l293d burns beacuse enable pin has higher voltage than powersupply pin or vc2 . But in conncection the 9v battery is with vc2 not the enable and the multimeter shows that , is there any thing can be wrong ?? (Enable is connected to arduino directly to send pwm values )

Yesterday when I tried to log in, it said my password was incorrect.  I am sure it was not.  So I had to do the reset login thing where they send a message to your email.  That message had a 21 length temporary password with letters and numbers!  21 characters!!  You would think I was trying to break into Hillary Clinton's email!!! I got logged in, changed my password.  Later in the afternoon, the same exact thing happened, with the new password.  Once again I received an email with a new 21 character temp password!!  After a couple tries I was able to get logged in and once again created another new password.... This morning, same thing!  Only this time I logged in with Google+, so I was able to log in.  But I am on my regular computer, if I try on my tablet, I can't get logged in at all!  Not even with the 21 character temp password.....I am still amazed it takes 21 characters to change a password....I think Instructables.com  can make it easier, if they can't,  maybe they can get instructions from someone on Instructables.com! BTW, I would of brought this to the attention of someone under the "Contact" category but if I clicked on any of the emails given, they would not work.  Yes I could of logged into my email and typed in their email and sent it that way.  But at this point I am tired of going back & forth so much with this website. I really enjoy this website and wish some things were not so complicated. Thank you.

Collaboration Credit

I’ve recently collaborated on a few projects. Although the function works, it doesn't allow the co-author to get any credit. It seems like a simple solution would be to place the project on both author's pages. I see the question has been asked before without a decent response.https://www.instructables.com/topics/Collaboration...https://www.instructables.com/topics/Collaboration...

An open letter to the support and those running this website

For a few years now good people using this website tried to make suggestions, make requests or just attempted to provide helpful feedback and bug reports.Severe bugs are usually dealt with promptly and I like this very much. For everything else though at least I start to develop a feeling that tells me your end either does not listen or does not care.Users are what keeps this section and website alive.Users provide the content that allows you to place ads to make a bit of revenue.Users fill your servers with their ideas.Users are those you should help to have it easy and enjoy being an active part of the community.I won't repeat the things users stated or requested thausands of times already. But I do state that at least got enough excuses and promises over the past few years to think I am being taken for a ride. You state the users are highly valued - valued as what exactly? You suck in user's creations like a vacuum cleaner and promote it all through endless numbers of sponsored contests. You create volume and website hits only.Quality was reduced to forcing restrictions and often totally useless standards on the user. There are articles explaining what a successful Ible needs and how to write one so it fits into the greater picture here. But where is the information how to embed pictures with the text? Oh right, that would be too nice for someone doing it or reading it, so we just plaster a block of images in a meaningless location on top of the text...I was a forum admin for a few years and if there is one thing I learned from it than : Don't mess with the users by "improving" things....Sadly Instructables never got that experience and we saw a lot of "improvements" that really absolutely no one using the website wanted or needed. The storm from that again showed how badly the user is neglected here as even reverting back to something close to what worked before took many months. The request to have some sticky postings informing the user about progress and what features might come soon was rejected again and again.Although I realised the offical suggestion to rework my last Ible so it can be published was a mistake:It highlighted the expectations you have when it comes to how you want users to create their Ibles.Creativity is not just the project in question but also how the creator wants to present it here!!I call it censorship if a person is forced to comply with standards that no one needs nor wants. We get excuses, we get promises but we simply never get anything that actually helps the user to be more creative and have it easy to create posts and Ibles. How long was it until we at least got a half working sorting option in the community section? About a year or so?You want more and better Ibles, a functioning community section again, even more revenue?Well, then give the user what they want or at least what they need to be creative again.Talk to the boss and tell him or her that we need more coders or preferably a new platform for all that actually works and is not just patchwork.Take a look at forums, blogs or other community websites that offer postings and content.See what is possible and what users create, how they create it.Search through the endless numbers of complaints here to find what you missed again, again and again.Instructables won't lose the ongoing supply of new Ibles thanks to contests but as said, volume and quantity is not quality of content ;)A user who is left struggling year after year will give up one day.Users who realise that it is not worth it won't come back after their first and only posting in the community section. And well, someone who created a really outstanding Ible for a contest and does not even make it to the final rounds might never bother again. Why is there no "open system" for contests?Anyone deciding what Ibles make it through should be open about it, post it and allow users to suggest entries he or she might have missed.Even more so for the winner selections. How many votes? What exactly made it a winner? Was it promoted by featuring it or listing it elsewhere?I don't know about you guys but even in a schools science contest the winners will be announced with some meaningful words why they actually won....Sadly, right now, I only see taking, restrictions and ignorance for the user here. The few posts from the support are highly appreciated but only a drop of water onto a red hotplate.Just for imagination:I took tons of pictures detailing my project right from the start.I took a lot of notes while creating it.I am ready to create a great Ible with it all so everyone can build or create it, I want to world to know about it.Then I click on the button to make my Ible and am greeted right away with an image uploader....Dumb enough I upload all my pics in one go.I start writing, I want to include a picture with the text so the user knows exactly why for example that screw needs to be done exactly like the picture shows. But wait...I can't drag the image down from that studip bar.Instead I am forced to create a new step for each picture that has a pecial meaning or purpose.Making a list of parts?Well, lets do it manually and by wasting precious time because there is not usable listing option anywhere to allow the creation with bullets or similar.Oh well, several hours later than expected it is time to take a preview of my creation. The images are clustered up and in no way usable to floow the text, so I start again, add more steps, drag it out even more.In the end I have about 50 steps for something that was fine in MS Word on a few pages.....To finnish I just need to somehow figure out how to get my cover images to fit into this tiny box.Cropping, resizing, again and again only to realise I might have as well used the thumb image IrfanView created in my folder...Then I do the final check.I try to make sense of the unplanned order of things and that no images makes enough sense because I need to click back and forth between steps all the time to undestand it.Then I take another look at my MS Word printout and the Ibles lands in my draft folder. When a suitable contest comes along I might try to check if the editing options have improved enough to post it.Well, I now have more drafts than published Ibles...Now imagine I would not be the only one....

Creating copper nano particles

Be it conductive ink, decorations or just a special pigment for your paint project, Copper is nice.Only problem is grinding this soft metal fine enough to be of any good use.A not so well documented feature of food additives is that they often have "unwanted" side effects. In our case E300, Ascorbic Acid or just Vitamin C.So how to make copper nano particles with it you might wonder?Prepare a well saturated solution of Copper Sulphate, you find the blue crystals in the gardening section together with fertilisers. It is best to use destilled water and not plain tap water, if in doubt go at least with the demineralised stuff for batteries.Adding E300 either dissolved in water or directly as crystals will start a nice reaction. The copper solphate is reduced back to metallic copper. There are a few problems though...For best results you need a saturation copper sulphate solution, low temperatures and a magnetic stirrer. This produced the finest particles for me at around 5°C.But even warm or at room temp the constant sirring is beneficial for even particle sizes. The ascorbic acid is used up in the process as well. You can start with a little and see how much you end up with in terms of a layer of copper particles at the bottom.Adding more E300 will cause a "rain" of fine copper particles - once this no longer happens you know the copper sulphate is used up as well.A dark greenish color of the solution will indicate this as well.Getting the copper out of the glass...Keep in mind the copper is extreme fine!As long as it stays in the solution it won't oxidize or otherwise react.Once out and in contact with just water and air oxidation happens quickly, after all it is pure copper...I found removing the watery solution and then adding destilled water to repeat the process is a good start. The waste from the first round can still be usefull though...In the final round I try to remove as much water as I can and then add methyled spirit to prevent the reactions. You can use oil as well or do a quick vacuum drying and store it in a sealed and oxygen free container. What to do with it?As a condictive paint with the right binder it only needs some rubbing with a smooth tool to create a conductive cover with a low resistance. In a clear paint or resin it provides some stunning color effects. You can even dust the dry powder onto a freshly painted surface to get a copper look.Leave without a top coat and you quickly get an old copper or even green look.If you ever wanted extreme fine metal particles you will come up with more ideas...Like shielding or sintering....
