How to fix this Arduino error?

It says that U8glib library isn't installed when it obviously is because I have installed and updated it in the Arduino library manager. Why am I running into this error when I am trying to verify that the newest version of Marlin Arduino is working? How can I fix it? Thanks!

How to get files off a broken MP3 player? Answered

Hi again instructables! i have a mp3 player that can no longer turn on and want to get four songs off it? when i plug it into the computer (i've tried several USB cables) it recharges, and the computer does not recognize that it is plugged in, meaning i cannot access the files to copy them i usually save several files of my song collection (711 songs) but as the songs originally came on the MP3 player and i didn't expect to need to replace it anytime soon (as it had a special warranty to be repaired or replaced) i don't have copies of these songs is there anyway i can get the songs off the player or do i just have to find them elsewhere? i doubt this information will be any help but its a Phillips Go-Gear RaGa mp3 player thanks AAG

Decode Custom RF ASK Signal with Arduino & RadioHead

I have a remote that sends out a preamble, a pause and then a long code where a 0 is encoded as 100 and 1 is encoded as 110. I used an RTL-SDR to decoded the aforementioned ASK signal. I know the code is correct because I can simulate the signal using an Arduino and FS1000A. I simply connected the FS1000A's data pin to a digital pin and then I send out the signal. What I want to do is actually receiving the signal on the Arduino, i.e. which button was pressed on which remote (there are multiple remotes). For that I am using an XY-MK-5V and the Radiohead library. I used the RH_ASK driver sample code. However, it doesn't receive anything at all, meaning nothing is printed to the serial monitor.I think there are a couple of issues, i.e. it seem the Radiohead library expects a different preamble then what my remote sends and it also expects a checksum which my remote also doesn't seem to send. I haven't found a way to configure Radiohead so it can deal with my remote code. Is such a configuration possible. If not, what are the alternatives?

DIY Hue compatible objects

Hi,I love my technology and have attempted to build many small electronics projects with varying levels of success and completedness.I have an idea that I would love to put into action but having a lack of knowledge in ZigBee I wanted to put it to the community to see who else has a need and if anyone else has had any success with the aforementioned Hue system and a DIY ZigBee project of any kind.My idea comes from a need to make things simple for the family and guests in my home to use the Philips Hue system I have without having to re-wire the house. I would like to have a single push button that uses the ZigBee network with Hue that can do multiple things based on lengths of push and number of pushes etc. Much like the remotes can already. However I want to make it so you can put any kind of momentary push button on it.In New Zealand I use a very common style of switch plate made by a company called PDL. The plates have a variety of options and one of them being a modular system that has a push button available. There is even one that has a small LED on it.Having the ability to add a second module to my light switches that allows you to push the button for simple on/off functionality. Long press for dimming and multiple press for scenes or set brightnesses. Now i've coded for Arduino and used this on ESP modules but never done anything in the ZigBee space.Has anyone done something like this before?I'm not asking for anything to help me do this but rather pointers. I will continue to research this project and hopefully one day make something worthy of an instructable for all you kind folk out there! Happy building!

Use old ipad as always-on wall mounted family organiser/info center

Hey everyoneI was looking at a bunch of instructables today for making a Magic Mirror, and I love the idea of making one. Could be a good info hub in my kitchen potentially, but then I figured that as much as I like the idea of building one, 1) I'm a little limited on time currently, and 2) I have an iPad (3rd gen, first one that got the retina screen) that really doesn't see much use now.So I figured that might be a good starting point until I have more time to build something from scratch, specially since it's touchscreen which is ideal for adding stuff to lists or amending things etc.I'm not worried about it being a mirror, but basically I want it to meet the following (approx) criteria:1) To remain with the screen always on - (think you can just set it to never lock in settings and this would do that?)2) To ideally be widget based content, to include such things as:WeatherA family based calendar (that individual calendars on other devices can link to preferably) Reminders Imminent events (for say the next 3 things in the calendar perhaps)Shopping listNow after some searching I can see there are quite a few family organiser type apps, but having gone through a bunch of them I can't quite find anything that suits quite what I had in mind because of the following sort of issues I've encountered:App needs to be on newer version of iOS (can't update this ipad to 10 or higher - it's forever to be on 9.x)Apps don't have weather and/or aren't widget based (or pleasing to the eye)Apps are for the iPhone not iPad, so don't look great.Don't let you change the interface/layout.So I've got tired of looking for the right app for this after setting up different accounts on loads of apps then finding they're not to my liking for one reason or another, and am wondering more if there's something like a web based tool that would give this sort of customisable functionality, or something I could install on my local network (even on my nas since that can run apps & services etc (synology diskstation)) that will give a local web page that the ipad could maybe just permanently display/interact with on safari or something?Grateful to hear what people would suggest for accomplishing what I want for this project. Maybe there's an existing app that can display modular/custom content, which would be ideal since it would keep the touch screen input for stuff like shopping lists etc?I'm going to mess about with Magic Mirror anyway and see what I can do with that, but appreciate any cool suggestions on different tools to try. Thanks! :)

Bypassing touch sensor on led puck light

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some guidance on a current project. I bought a small Led puck light. I need to bypass this, end goal being I want a SPST style on/off instead. I have never seen or modified a touch sensor before, so looking for anyone that had done this for any reason. The light is DC powered, 4.5V.

Dead Sewing Machine or Dremel Tool Motor

A woman asked me to look at her sewing machine. The motor was dead. A new foot control did nothing. A dealer seemed disinterested in looking at it for repairs, but wanted to sell her a new machine for $700+. Attached is a photo of the commutator from her machine's motor after I cleaned it up enough to run again. After 15 years of use there was so much oxidation and contamination from brushes arcing that an Ohmmeter showed infinite resistance (open circuit) across the commutator, unless readings were taken on the brighter copper colored portions of the commutator. (The brushes are still good.) Then I got reasonable readings, indicating there was actually an unbroken circuit across the armature coils. Removing shrouds and getting to the motor was the most difficult part. Then I turned the motor by hand while I held 500 grit sandpaper on the commutator until it was clean and bright. The motor runs like new again. The owner is very happy. (I made this fix as a favor, not to gain income.)I had expected something like I found in a Dremel tool that quit working. With an Ohmmeter I found a break in the circuit between the field coil and a terminal pin. (I was able to bridge the broken connection and the Dremel workes again.) Another sewing machine did not run, and the problem was found to be a bad electronic circuit board no longer available. That machine had to be replaced. But, sometimes somethng so simple as a very dirty commutator is the only problem and is easily cleaned so the machine works perfectly again.

Comments "In [insert number here] minutes"??

So recently I've had a huge influx of comments on one of my instructables, and when I go answer them a lot of the time the comment will have the heading "Dangerously Explosive (author) in reply to ___, in [#] minutes" rather than saying "[#] minutes ago". Why does it do this, and what does it mean? Is it just going through a moderation stack, or does Instructables have a comment per unit time limit?

Microbial instructable on the cheap

I'm interested in this instructable on isolating plastic degrading bacteria but the author doesn't appear to be active at the moment.I have no experience in this area. Any ideas on if/how could perform a valid experiment on the cheap? The only two prohibitively expensive items seem to be an autoclave (I'm assuming I could use a microwave or pressure cooker) and the Hass Broth: The solution used to feed the bacteria containing all their required elements except carbon, which they get from the plastic.Would it still be a viable experiment if I gave the microbes a banana peel or something and hope they're still hungry for plastic? Also can I get away with using a cheap milligram scale?I know this isn't a typical type of question but any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Electric Bicycle Mod Using an 36 volt, 1000watt motor to make an electric bike. I have questions about rpm and torque. Answered

I have done some calculations, with wheels who have a 75inch circumference, i have calculated that 444 rpm should get me going about 40km/h or 25 mph. I don't believe that this is right. I am also wondering what amount of torque would be good enough for this situation? The motor is 1000watts, 36volts and 3000rpm. I am planning to use three 12 volt car batteries to power the motor. I would be using a chain and gear transmission system to reduce the rpm. I am looking to have a max speed of from 50 km/h or 31 mph to 40km/h or 25 mph. I would really apretiate anyones help with this, so i could then finish this project. thanks

I'm planning to have 4 LEDs and a single push button. When the button is first pushed, the 4 LEDs stay turned on, and when pushed again they flash, when pushed again they change pattern e.g. scroll and so on until it finally turns off after the final push of the button. If anyone could help me with what code to use to switch between the flashing patterns that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

To generate elect. is it better to have the coil spin within the magnetic field or magnets spinning inside the coil

Which is better for making a homemade generator powered by the wind? Tesla model suggests coil spins inside of magnetic field but most electronic sites suggest having the magnets spin inside the coil windings. Are more amps produced by having the magnets spin inside the coil windings instead. Couldn't you just use most any (machine pre-wound) coils from motors rated from 1 - 5 hp. and make your own rotor where the magnets spin INSIDE the existing windings from those motors? Helpful to me since they are already rated with rpm speed. Why would you make your own with so many used motors available?
