Munny is on sale 2 for 1

The Munny is a fantastic toy for those who like to customize stuff. The 7-inch tall vinyl toy can be painted, reshaped, and modded in many other ways. I'm personally a big fan and turned a couple into a pair of speakers a while back. The dolls have now been on sale for five years and to celebrate Kidrobot is selling them two for the price of one for the month of June. They're also having some contest, but more importantly this is a great time to stock up on a couple of Munnys if you've ever been interested in them.

2 Firefox Bug Reports

MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1 Firefox 33.1 https://www.instructables.com/id/Become-An-iPhone-Cartoonist/ or any Instructable for that matter. No screenshot When replying to a comment on an 'ible I have to click "Make Comment" twice in order for it to send. I realize that comments don't always get published because of this bug. It has happened to me on earlier versions of Firefox, as well. I now double check to be sure that my comments are sent. When creating Instructables, I always use the "Open In A New Tab" button so that my viewers don't lose my page after clicking on my links. This function does not work on my operating system. I have checked many 'ibles to see if it is isolated to just my published ones and that is not the case. The open in a new tab function does not work.

1/2" PVC inner diameter?

I was looking at all the excellent instructables about marshmallow guns, but I have a concern. I'm Canadian, and it seems to me that the inner diameters of 1/2" PVC pipe in the US is larger than 1/2" PVC in Canada. So, could someone in the know please straighten this out? Is there a difference or not? If so, what would be the appropriate substitute size? Thanks to all.

Got a 1/2 HP motor

I just got a Got a 1/2 HP motor for free from my school (there were 2 old vacuum pumps that were covered in dirt and have been in a shed for like a year. One of my friend got one and is turning it into a lathe. They are really nice and quiet GE motors. Their bearing just needed some lube and then they are all fixed!). All it needs is a capacitor (can get from ebay for like 15 bucks including shipping) What should I make with it? So far I'm thinking rotary spark gap for my tesla coil (take THAT plamana!) but i'd like to utilize the power more (don't really need 1/2 HP for a spark gap!). Any other ideas? BTW I'm not making a gokart. lol. But it would be cool.... BUT NO

Fabricating a 1"-2" transparent dome?

I need to create a small, transparent dome (out of some sort of plastic or resin) that will be able to be glued to a flat surface. What materials are out there to make something like this (that I will be able to do as smoothly and evenly as possible)? It will need to be able to magnify an image underneath it. Sorry if I don't have enough details on what I am trying to do, I have never made something like this before so any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

1/8 w resistor for 12v?

Hi, I've been trying to add a LED light for my glove box, since it didn't come with any. I bought one radio shack led with built-in 1/8w 680ohm resistors to see how it was made. I read the 1/8w resistor wouldn't work and it would burn up? Using something like 1/2w would be better. I tested it with a 9v battery and I didn't feel it getting hotter. Maybe just warm? I got some LEDs off ebay many years ago and I have no idea what their specs are. They are 3mm led bulbs. I decided to make my own by using 5 1/8w 150ohms resistors. 150 ohms are the only resistors I have on hand. With the combined resistance of 750 ohms, how much voltage is going to the LED? Will I be fine with just using 4 150 ohms resistors? Will is be dangerous to use the 1/8w resistors? I don't want a fire. Will having more resistors also help spread out the heat among the resistors? I drive 4 hours a day, so the light will only be on for that duration. Thanks

Electric Motors 1/6 - 1/2 hp Super Cheap!

Hey Instructable Community! I've fallen into a consistent supply of used electric motors and I'd love to offer them to the people in this community. I was going to start selling them on Ebay but I like you all much more than those randoms and I'm even willing to offer them to you for a lower price because this site has literally changed my life. Not to mention, I be you'll have a much more creative use for an electric motor. Details and Disclosures: These motors are used and are coming out of Air Conditioning Units that a buddy of mine scraps. (He installs units and takes the old ones) He was junking the motors for mixed metal scrap prices and I figured I knew some people that might value them. I have some 115v motors and many more 220v motors. These motors range from 1/6hp to 1/2hp. I test the 115v motors but don't have a current setup for testing the 220v motors. That said, they were working when the units were replaced. I am very flexible on price. Motors range from $25 - $60. (Plus shipping)  I'll go even cheaper if you want a few. After receiving payment I can usually ship within a few days. I'd also be willing to meet up if you are in the general Philly area! This is a great opportunity to power your next AMAZING Instructable. I promise to do honest business lest the Instructables staff delete my account. (I've got about 2 years of pro that I'm not willing to give up) I hope to hear from you all soon!!!

Where to find 10-32 2-1/2 special bolts? Answered

I need a very wide head 10-32 bolt for a project I am working on, because a small head does not hold enough friction against my other part for my needs. The best solution I think would to get a 10-32 carriage bolt (2.5 inches long), but I cannot seem to find this anywhere. Is there a store anywhere that sells low quantity (I need about 5, but could settle for 10-50 if I needed), but I cannot seem to find a store that sells this apparently odd screw size...

2 projects, 2 questions. help? Answered

Hi everybody i have 2 new projects i am working on, and i had some questions about them: 1-wirelessly (bluetooth) controlled LED So this is more or less a starter project, i just got a new laptop with bluetoth and i want to experiment, i figured being able to turn an led on and off via bluetooth would be a good start. 2-Webcam that fits in a PCMCIA slot filler card I think that this project has a better chance of actually being finished than the one above... along with my new laptop, i got one that had a broken screen, it also had a built in webcam. (acer travelmate 5530, the bottom will be used in some other project) I removed the webcam and later i had the thought that maybe it was thin enough to fit in a pcmcia slot. almost. the question here is if i sanded down the plastic parts on the top of the lens (not the lens itself, there is a bit of plastic that bevels around the lens) to the point where it would be thin enough, could someone help me find a pinout of the webcam? all i know is that its usb 2.0, but the connector has 5 wires, 2 of them are ground, but the data + and - and vcc are unknown, the wire colors are different than a normal usb color code. I cannot upload pictures quite yet but i will as soon as i can.

Raspberry pi 2 processing capability?

Hearing the announcement of the new latest and greatest Raspberry Pi 2, now a backwards compatible computer with a 0.9GHz ARM Cortex-A7 quad core processor and 1GB of LPDDR2 SDRAM, I was wondering of the feasibility of using it as a very cheap and basic solution for a simple computer for my lab. Currently, I am using a compaq presario C700 Pentium Dual-Core laptop, that has been maxed out with 2GB 800MHz kingston RAM, and is running Kubuntu. I should also not the HDD has been replaced with a 120GB one from an old and broken Xbox. I do not like it much anymore, because although the performance of it is acceptable, the screen is a bit low res, at 1280x800, it's pretty dark (or at least until it 'warms up' to full brightness), it had a major scratch on the screen, (no idea how it got there) and after buffing it out with many methods, including with an eraser, the area has became discolored, like a portion of the screen has higher gamut and brightness, and lower black levels. :( Oh well. The main killer for it is that it's form factor. It is too big, heavy, the screen is too small, and it is very cumbersome to use far away in the corner of my workbench. Of course being a laptop, the 'base' of it is fixed to the screen, and to move it closer to me takes away lots of valuable space on my really messy bench. I mostly use it to research part numbers, get schematics off of google, watch YT videos, log data from serial ports (including my UNI-T multimeter with basic data-logging capabilities), and stuff like that. I may have as many as 20 tabs open at a time, which did tax my old compaq C700 when it had 1GB of RAM, but that was likely due to a memory leak issue with chrome, since I have the SAME issue with my main desktop, with 8GB of DDR3 RAM. If the video by MAKE is anything to judge, it looks just as powerful, as this embedded video is large! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZz8MW3DSqA My hope is to replace it with a raspberry pi, and be able to use it for these basic operations w/ a old cheap LCD monitor which can be picked up off of craigslist for cheap. Generally old 4:3 monitors go for next to nothing. Maybe I can even find one in the dump :P. Maybe I can configure the GPIO pins to be COM ports, w/ clock and everything else! That way an external FTDI chip and using the limited number of USBs is not an issue. Is that possible?

How do you jailbreak an iPhone 3g, software version 2.2.1, with QuickPwn?

I've followed the steps that pretty much every online guide is saying, so please do not refer me to one of those. The QuickPwn screen says, "It appears to be successful," after my attempt at it, and my iPhone does a bit of configuring like normal, then when it gets to the time to reboot, it shuts off, then freezes at the start-up screen. It vibrates every once in a while, and eventually times itself out and tries again. This is about my 5th time trying it over 2 days. It worked once, the second time, but I had not restored it from a back up- it was just set up after you connect it to restore mode then restore it with the computer. That just means it was like brand new, out of the box with nothing on it.

Replace just 1-2 bad li-on cells?

I've got a fairly new DeWalt 20V Lipo Battery pack that got a bit of water inside it's case, causing 1 of the 10 cells inside to go bad. Pertinent info: * Battery pack is configured as 5x2 (5 series stages of two parallel pairs each) * Other cells are in near-new condition. * OEM Factory battery exact matches are rare and quite overpriced.  (1500mah x 15A discharge rate @ $10-20 shipped.) * Due to improvement in battery tech, I can get batteries that outperform OEM in every spec for 30-40% of what the OEM costs (2500mah x 20A discharge rate @ $4-6 shipped.) * The battery pack is always charged on a cell-balancing charger. Assumptions:  (Correct me if I'm wrong here, especially on the 2nd one) * The partner cell to the dead one is now suspect, due to being undercharged (down to <.1V)  by it's dead partner. * I should be able to just replace the bad cell and it's partner with the higher spec'd batteries and it shouldn't be a problem Is this workable, or will having non-identical cells for 2 of the 10 cells cause problems?  (I'm totally fine with the pack only being as strong as the weakest link, and only getting OEM performance out of the replaced cells.) I'd rather not have to replace all 10 cells, but I'd rather do that than replace 2, and -then- have to replace all 10 because the combination didn't work.

Assassin's Creed 1 & 2 Piece of Eden Apple

Everybody has been making their own hidden blades, but how about we try another item from the game? The Piece of Eden apples. They are glowing, futuristic spheres, which have the ability to control people's minds and cause intense Hallucinations. From seeing them, it looks like we can use the same basic Idea as this guy here with a Glowing box: https://www.instructables.com/id/Awesome-led-cube/ The Apple looks very similar in that the light emanates from behind the metal pieces, glowing at times, and you'd also need a way to turn it off and on, or for an added effect, but an electomagnetic switch inside instead of a pushbutton, where you can hold it and make it glow, but when you hand it off, it fades, or it only glows when placed on a base or something of the such. Just thought i'd get the ball rolling and see what we can come up with!

Analog Water Valve 1/2" or 3/4"

Hey guys, new here. Been looking around for parts for my project for a while now and so far have come up pretty empty handed. I am looking for some parts, or even some information on if anyone has a specific place for parts when it comes to household plumbing. i am trying to source out Variable water valves of the analog variety in 1/2" or 3/4" inlets (preferably in brass) to be controlled by an Arduino. They need to be able to handle a PSI range of 80-100psi and in a N/C state. $0-$30/each preferably Without fully giving away my project idea I basically am looking to switch out manual hot/cold water taps with electronically controlled ones. I need to be able to adjust how open the valves are so I can vary the temperature between the two pipes so that I can get an Arduino to control (with other sensors) and get a water temperature out the drain that is equivalent to bath water. (Hence why I need them to be variable and not just on/off) I have have checked local shops, asked plumbing friends, alibaba, and (of course) Google. And I just can't seem to be able to punch in the proper keywords to find exactly what I am looking for. The closest thing I can find is automatic sink tap solenoids but they require a manual set up and only output at that mix ratio, So I'm hoping that someone has a plumbing supplier to direct me to, I'm pretty much out of ideas. thanks in advance!

How to make a portable wall frame for wall panels 2 x 2 1/2 feet each?

I'm making a convention piece that needs to be transported back and forth between different states. The front panels are already created and measure 2 x 2 1/2 feet each totalling a 8 foot height and 10 foot width. Please see image for example. I'm trying to figure out how to make a light weight frame for the panels to mount onto. The reason why the panel pieces are so small is due to shipping limitations so also looking for the frame to be portable as well. The longest size that I can go up to for any piece will be 4 feet in length. The frame will have to be free standing and may go up to 3 feet deep/back behind the wall front. There are no side, ceiling, or back wall to attach to so this will be a truly free standing unit.

mission of sputnik 1

Russian technology satellite. One launch, 1957.10.04. Tikhonravov's 1.4 metric ton ISZ satellite was to have been launched by the new R-7 ICBM as the Soviet Union's first satellite, during the International Geophysical Year.    But it was not ready in time, so Korolev hurriedly developed Sputnik 1 as a replacement. It became the first artificial satellite of the earth. Sputnik 1 had 1 watt of power, producing an 0.4 second duration signal on the 7 and 15 m bands. Four antennae were deployed at 35 degree angles. Power was provided by three silver-zinc batteries. Thermo-regulation was by a ventilator. The 580 mm sphere had a mass of 83 kg and was made of highly polished Aluminum AMG6T alloy 2 mm thick. It was built without drawings due to the quick time schedule. Korolev was everywhere, supervising all aspects of its construction. It functioned for 21 days.      AKA: PS-1. Gross mass: 84 kg (185 lb). First date: 1957-10-04. Number: 1 .     the word sputnik is russian word for traveller

Japan Day 1

(I am planning on doing a forum post for each day of my trip in Japan. The first few days will just be copy pasted from my blog (but now with pictures, and image notes!), and after that I will type up the entry I kept for each day in my journal)I am writing this all on my eee pc, and, while I am getting the hang of this tiny keyboard, typing mistakes are common. I am also in various states of mental functioning so excuse any grammatical errors.I woke up at around 6:45 on Thursday morning. I had been feeling a bit under the weather, and was slightly congested. I really hoped that I did not catch something right before my trip. I woke up the other interns (Bilal, Josh, and Paul), because I knew they would be very sad and might cry, if I did not give them the last chance to say goodbye to me. We did a 4 way shoulder-tap, the universe imploded, and I was off.As I walked down Clementina I realized that it would be the last time I smelled that poo stench on the street. I had mixed feelings about this. The BART ride to SFO was very uneventful. Check in was amazingly fast. The line was short and moved quickly. I had almost everything I was taking with me in my carry-on. There was nothing in my checked baggage but knives and lint (one knife & one swiss tech mulikey). Anyway the whole process of checking in took about 15 minutes. The security checkpoint was even faster. There was no line, and for the first time in a long time I didn't set off the metal detector. I had shown up three hours before my flight to be safe, and I was now left with two hours and forty minutes to kill.I went to the currency exchange and turned 300$ into 27,000 yen. The Lonely Planet guidebook I have (which was printed just last year), has the exchange rate of one USD to 120 Yen, at the exchange booth they offered about 98 Yen for a dollar, google says the current rates are 107 yen to a dollar. Stupid weak American money. Anyway, I used ten dollars which I did not convert to yen to buy an english muffin breakfast sandwich and a gatorade. I went to my terminal, and accidentally dropped the barely touched sandwich on the floor while removing my backpack. I was hungry :(I read for two hours then boarded the plane at around 11. There were many people coughing on this eleven hour flight, so I did not have high hopes for avoiding sickness. Read some more on the flight, watched iron man in Japanese, watched iron man in english, and watched be kind rewind. They served two decent meals, and a few snacks in between. Ten hours later when we were finally over Japan, I went to the back of the plane, and stared out the window in the emergency exit door to get my first view of Japan. We landed around 2 pm on Friday. It was hot, so very hot (humid too). I filled out my customs form, got fingerprinted, and photographed, and made my way over to the baggage claim to pick up my knives. I made my way out of the airport to the train, and bought a ticket for what I hoped was a kanayama station bound train. Turns out it was. (cue the "ding" sound that is played on the audio tracks for slideshows, when it is time to change the slide). The first few pictures are of Kanayama station. There was a cool little inflatable pool, with little kids in miniature paddle boats. They also had a bunch of those water mist sprayers that people stand in front of to cool off.I relaxed at the train station for a bit before I caught the number 12 bus. I took it to the Ishikawa Bashi stop, and got off. I used a pay phone to call up Changmi who I had found on couchsurfing.com. I actually set up the couchsurf with her husband (who was out of town) who said it would be ok for me to stay, so I think she was a little surprised when I called. She said that she was currently hosting two couples who each had a small child. It was cool if I stayed, but it would be crowded. She picked me up at the nearest intersection with her mother, one of the couples, and their child in the car.We drove to downtown Nagoya and they let us out. Changmi and her mother were going somewhere, so I hung out with Sarah, Seba, and their daughter Maya. They were couchsurfers from France who had been in Japan for a couple of weeks. We walked around central park in downtown Nagoya for a bit. There is the large TV tower at one end of the park, and a bunch of art pieces scattered about randomly (metal taco boat thing). We went and got dinner, which I later found out to be pig intestines, with an egg, over rice. It was pretty good. After eating we took the subway back to Changmi's house and slept.Japan Day 2
