Hi...I am moving back to USA from South Korea. I want to bring my LG fridge model # R-T693TH 220V and would like to know if it will work in the US if I install a 220V electrical system in the house. Or would I require a step down 220V to 110v thnx for your replies.

I bought a new 220V 50Hz night lamp. It works nicely, execpt that in few places in my house, when the switch is in OFF mode, the LED is FLASING (!!!) at a rate of every 6 to 10 seconds How can I stop this flashing ? In fact, I can not leave the lamp connected to power. I must plug off the cable from the power when I do not need the light. Please help Regards. Hava.

My garage has either electric heat or none at all and my heaters blow the circuit breakers every time I try turning anything else on. HOWEVER I have a 220 circuit originally for a welder that I imagine would handle them easily. So, does anybody have a way to make a simple, plug-in adapter from a 220 circuit I seldom use to be able to plug in 110 heaters? (all the circuits are in the US)

I am going to move from Germany back to the states soon and I would like to avoid selling some of my larger and more preferred electronics. I know I can buy a step up converter but I don't want to have a giant black box sitting in my living room for the next five years. Electronics is not really my thing but I can learn and figure out what I need to. I just need to know if it is possible to permanently convert 220v to run off of 110v.

Hi, Moved over to the UK from the US a couple of months ago and my fiancee has brought with her a 110V tea-steeper with her. Apparently it possesses magical properties that cannot be reproduced by other local appliances. It will blow out the fuse in a 500-watt transformer, which is the largest that I have. My question is, why are these things so expensive? I have very limited knowledge about them, but from what I do know they don't seem that complex. Some of the higher wattage transformers are the same price as a netbook computer! What is in them that costs so much? Also, can you make your own? Thanks -Andrew

Hello all, I'd like to purchase a welding machine in the USA and take it to the Philippines. My problem and hopefully solution is, USA use 2 legs of 110v for 220v appliances/machines. In the Philippines, voltage is 220v (single leg). So, If I have a single phase, 220v welder, can I cut the plug off, combine the two power legs and connect to the power in the Philippines? I hope I am able to articulate this question properly. Mig welders are not easily available over there. Thank you for anyone that can help

Hello! I have a 12v signal and want to convert it to 220v, simply open the passage as a switch (progressive) and I have a 220V source, it would be like a relay but progressive.The signal is not always 12v it could be posible? Thanks!

Replacing my old coiltop electric range (might be repairable, but I'd rather put the money into something I'll like better). The old one's just going to be hauled away. A friend has requested the oven racks, and the new range comes with its own power cord, so the 220V cord is of dubious value and likely to just take up space... is there anything else that might actually be worth the effort of removing? (I suppose I could save the control panel and see if I can get its relays set up to control something else, but that requires figuring out what voltage it actually requires and I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Especially since the controls are what failed. Probably just a stuck relay, but...)

Hi I'm fairly new to Arduino (I'm actually using Netduino), and I have been puzzling with making a voltage regulator, for a 100W lightbulb. But my issue is, that I would like to control it digitally, with a micro controller - and not with the usual potentiometer. Is there some kind of digital potentiometer I could use, or create? Or better yet, instructables on doing something similar to this? I've been looking, but all seems to be manually operated, and most of them are for low voltage DC. I'm pretty new to electronics as well, and I definitely would prefer, to NOT burn down the house. Any advice, comments and links are much appreciated :)

I want to purchase a computerized sewing machine for my wife from the US, however this machine is VERY sensitive, and manufacturer does not recommend running it on different voltage than 110v. I have checked with them, and the required input for it is:2.4 wattage. The amp is .02 and the voltage 120. I have not managed to find a reasonably priced step down transformer which can also transform the frequency - only one, but it costs a few thousands of dollars :)Please, help! This machine is not sold here, not in Europe, not even similar model. One answer I've got from a company specializing in such reliable converters: Since your sewing machine is computerized and very sensitive we do not feel confident that it will work properly with a voltage converter because of the cycle or hertz difference. Here it is 60 hz and Israel it is 50hz and converters do not change the cycles. your sewing machine may be adversely effected. Hello I purchased this sauna used a couple days ago, and its not turning on.. The previous owner sold it as having only an issue with the fuse, but I have exchanged all fuses, and Im assuming its one of the three components that are running in the rectangular unit mounted on top of the sauna. I will post all the photos so you are able to see detailed views of everything - I have now ordered a replacement for the power supply (s-35-12) as I cant imagine the transformer would short the entire sauna. internal fuses are all 3 amp, this is the power supply (but the power running from mains is standard 13amp): https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/MiWi-S-35-12-AC-DC-switching-mode-power-supply/700113_1699513295.html And from what I can tell there is a sort of voltage regulator on that PSU which has a phillips white screw which is used for adjusting. My guess is that previous owner set it for wrong output and it blew the PSU? Alternatively there is the main board, but I wouldnt know what to look for, nor how to replace, as it had no particular model number. I tested current coming from mains to the main board (sorry I dont have technical name for that) and electricity is definitely arriving there, but not sure where (or if) it goes after. I tried to swap one of the kettle lead fuses for the one on the PSU board, and then power on, but as soon as I tripped the power to on it blew the fuse.. image 1 and 2 are overview, image 3 is writing on PSU, image 4 is transformer, image 5 is main board and image 6 is PSU (which I have ordered replacement for). Is it possible to use a 220v to 6v transformer for converting 6v to 220v DC to charge 250v capacitors? Hello, i am unable to find answers to this anywhere so I hope you can help me! Is it possible to supply a "normal" computer monitor with 220V DC instead of AC? All the specifications list the input only as AC, but I would think the monitor have an internal power supply which converts 220V AC to 6-48V DC which uses a diode bridge and my basic electric knowledge tells me this bridge will work if supplied with DC as well. Would this work? Does actual "220V DC monitors" exist? I cant seem to find any..

I had a 220v angle grinder. It was burnt. I take the rotor of the grinder out. Its completely fine. Now i make a DC motor using this rotor and magnets(for field current). My question is, how much maximum DC volts this motor can take to get the maximum RPM. Because the motor was 220v AC, Will it run on 220v DC?

How can I make a cheap degaussing coil for a tv (220v). I've tried a soldering gun and other small transformers but didnt work (big crt tv). I even build a coil with 10 meters of 10AWG (2.5mm) wire in a 12' diameter on 220v which only generated a shortcut (I build this just guessing the amount of wire and awg, so no mystery why I failed). I've read that a coil made out of #24 awg wire and over 1000 loops would do the trick (for 220v and over 500 loops if a used a 220V-110V transformer), but that is too much $ in copper wire. Maybe I could refurbish wire from a old electronic appliance, but not sure which might be it. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time

Hello experts, I need your help please. I have an old Dremel hobby drill. It was rated for 110v but accidentally plugged to 220v mains and blew-up its built-in rectifier and varible speed control.
