35 mm film belt

i work at a movie theater, and we always have old pieces of the film strips. lately i've been considering making some of this old film strip into a belt, by laying it on top of the other pieces and weaving thread into the little holes on the edges. but i've been thinking about how i'd attach a belt buckle, or anything to clip it together for that matter. anyone have any ideas how i could do this?

Used 35 mm cameras

As I was looking in a thrift shop recently, I realised that all the ones I had been to had these old 35mm film cameras for a really cheap price.  The burning question I had was what could be done with these cameras and the parts in them?  Are there sites where this is addressed?  There must be a ton of things to be made with them and they will become re-purposed materiel.  How about a contest? Anyone?

Looking for Nerf Raider CS-35 mods that WILL NOT shoot nerf darts.

Hey, I'm wondering if anyone knows of mods for the Nerf Raider that don't fire Nerf darts.  I've modded a few nerf guns, but I'd like to repurpose my raider to shoot something else.  I'm looking to make it like an airsoft gun or rocket launcher-type gun.  Any and all suggestioins are appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone still use 35MM film?

Does anyone still use 35mm film, or is it dead? I find shooting with film is enjoyable. I was out today photographing what insects i could find with my 35MM SLRs. I used both a Minolta MAXXUM SPxi and a Canon EOS Rebel G, both with 80MM lenses. Used 400 speed film. Coencidentaly, while looking through a local bookstore today, i found a copy of "pocket guide to 35MM photography" By kodak for 50 cents.

How do I make an elastic powered vehicle which will transport and egg 2 metres up a ramp with a 35 degree angle?

Basically, we must use an elastic band and there is no catapult allowed. The ramp is very steep and we can't use batteries or anything. We were thinking something to do with weights. Please help! We tried knex, but it ended up being too light. And it needs to go against gravity!

What motor should I look into for lifting 50 lbs around 35-40 in. off the ground?

I have a project where I very simply need to raise and lower a flat board with a 50 lbs drill press 35-40 in. and have it stop at the same specific place every time going up and coming down. I've seen TV lift mechanisms and things such as that, but they cost $500 - $1,400. I need this project to cost very little. <$100 if possible. I have a scissor design that I will be made from wood that I already have, so all I need is a motor that can lift 50 lbs up and down, slowly, quietly, and only once or twice a week. But I know nothing about motors.  Here are all the parameters that I can think of.  1.) It will be stationary, i.e. — not require a battery or ever need to be moved.  2.) It must move slowly. Lift the surface approx. 1 in per second. i.e. — around 30 seconds to raise the surface 30 in. or so.  3.) It must be as quiet as is reasonable. It doesn't have to be whisper quiet, but def. not power-drill loud. 4.) It must be as inexpensive as possible.  I do not care about... 1.) Motor weight 2.) Dimensions 3.) Power consumption 4.) Heat production 5.) Longevity... it will be used very rarely so wear & tear is a non-issue really I very much appreciate any help you guys can give.

mysql matching? Answered

I don't really know how to phrase the question. i'm making a Lotto game in PHP. i have numbers 1 - 100 grouped in lots of 10 (ie. 5-15-25-35-45-55-65-75-85-95) and i want to match them against the "house" numbers (ie. 7-15-22-35-49-55-65-75-85-99) then count how many matches in each group and put that into a column (matches) "USER" 5-15-25-35-45-55-65-75-85-95 vs "HOUSE" 7-15-22-35-49-55-65-75-85-99 = 6 matches. then i can count how many matches to determine "payout" i can do this in excel easily. SQL is harder to do.

Blue led photography...

I just took some new pictures for my BraceLED 2.0 I'ble. And look at the picture of the bracelet with the blue LED's! The reflection of the blue light on the white surface (=paper sheet) is highly overexposed! How does this happen? Is the cmos sensor in my Nikon D300s over-sensitive to this color of blue? A picture of a red-led-bracelet under (almost) the same conditions has no such effect. Picture red BraceLED: iso800, 35 mm prime, f/4, 1/20 Picture blue BraceLED: iso800, 35 mm prime lens, 1/15

Field of view of a lens?

Hunting through the attic I found an old 35mm projector. I wondered what governs the field of view of the lens system - for this projector it is obviously about the size of a 35 mm slide but for my video projector it must be considerable bigger although the lens looks similar. (I know hat isn't a very scientific judgement!)
