Username breaks some links

I have discovered that our username breaks certain links on the site although it presumably passed input validation when we set it up. First locate any use of the username such as on the Instructable here: https://www.instructables.com/id/A-Quick-Laser-Cut-Sailing-Trophy/ The link has been encoded as https://www.instructables.com/member/Sean%2BJames/ which is not being processed correctly resulting in the 400 error This has been tested on Firefox on Mac, Chrome on Mac, Firefox on Windows.  I know it is not a browser problem but I thought I would do a bit of testing.

private instructable - ERROR 400

Trying to publish a private instructable and receive: ERROR 400: can not find item to publish: private Project is formatted with multiple steps and pictures, nothing unusual. I have no problem publishing a regular instructable and everything seems normal while editing. When finished editing, I can hit the tab for publish, or there's an tab option for private. I have attempted both methods: straight up publish has no options to make private, before, during or after going live. And, private returns the error message indicated above. using: Firefox 3.6.8 Windows 7 anyone else experience this?

Linux Partition? Help me please.

How do I go about doing this safely and hopefully for free? My computer has been reformatted since I got it so there is none of that evil HP software on it anymore. I have over 400 gig of free space and nothing to fill it with. Please help!

Where can I get high voltage capacitors in Australia? Answered

I need some high voltage and capacitance capacitors for a coil gun I'm building. I'd like them to be around the 400+volt and at least 1500uF. I'd prefer it if i could buy them instead of salvaging them from other used equipment. (not that i don't do like getting free stuff, (I usually create projects from scraps and only buy what i need) but i would prefer it if i could buy these). Thanks : D

I've done research online and know what the reviews say and the "pros" say, but I'm curious if those of us that actually DO things regularly have a difference of opinion. Thanks! All I have now is a drill and a hand-held circular saw. I would like to be able to cut beams accurately and consistently.

NSURLErrorDomain error 400 when saving instructable

I'm working on an instructable on my iPhone 4g (iOS 7.1) using the instructables app, and when I save it to instuctables.com I get a NSURLErrorDomain error 400 (see screenshot). I don't know which version of the app I'm running, but there are no updates available in the store so it must be the latest. Yesterday it would randomly happen... I'd try the upload again and it would work. But now it's consistent. I'm able to save it to the device, go back and edit the version I've saved to my iPhone but I can't upload it to the site. I have killed the app, rebooted the phone, and prayed to the demo gods to no effect. I've also tried it on wireless and 3G. I am, however, able to create a new dummy instructable and upload that, so maybe there's something up with the one I'm working on?

There's a pinout for a Grundig LC 400 camcorder DC-IN connector? Answered

Good morning  at all, I've found a Grunding camcorder (model LC 400) that works, but I've no battery charger or DC cable: before open the camera and try to understand the power schematics (and make some BIG disaster...), sombody have the connector's pinout / model / schematics? The connector's shape is like a small 12 V Molex and on the camera's bottom there's a label with operative voltage: 6 V DC or 4.8 V (battery). Thank you very much, Mattia.

Looking for a 400-600 C electric burner / heating element?

Im working on building a stirling engine which is powered by heat. The bottom cylinders will need to be heated to 4-600 C.  A burner similar to an older spiral stove burner would work but I'm afraid it wouldn't be able to reach the required temperature range.  The diameter of the burners surface needs to be at least 3 inches. Ive searched and searched but am unable to find much that looks like it will work.  Could someone explain how to possibly make something with some sort of heating element?  Any ideas?

Is it worth dropping $400 on a really nice oscilloscope (Rigol DS1054Z)?

I will describe my situation: I am a hobbiest that likes to make cool projects, and plan to get into maybe RF analog stuff, (maybe start out with making a few FM bugs, reverse engineer a simple video transmitter kit, and a few other things.) as well get into arduino some more, AC analysis (learn about Xformers, power factor, maybe some math, etc.) and I so currently have an old 2ch. 30MHz analog oscilloscope that is a PITA to make real measurements with. Not only is it huge and takes up a lots of space, but also I'm not even sure it is in cal!) I will be transferring into UVA (or maybe VT) for EE, and gone this summer for a NASA internship at langley. (maybe I will be able to take it with me w/ a toolbox of some electronics stuff!) The scope I am looking at (what appears to be what many subscribers seem to use, and/or claim is pretty good) is the Rigol DS1054Z. I only know how to use my $30 30MHz BKprecision scope I got on craigslist from the son of a father who was a TV repairman, and have NO experience with the use of the fancy-shmancy digital scope! What little I know is from watching EEVblog review of other scopes in the past. (I do know that they can be useful for 'capturing' waveforms, and can be set up to trigger on a pulse, maybe a certain digital codes, and that could come in handy for reverse engineering crap.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v-tFYbc7h8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2qdtQkBKhc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETCOhzU1O5A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gStNYfqMXk What sells it to me, being a complete newbie to electronics and digital scopes is that it has a nice big screen, the specs seem good (other certainly think, I have no intuition of what any of those things mean except the bandwidth, and maybe the sampling rate, 1GSa/s), 4 channels, intensity graded display, and it has loads of functions and stuff for me to grow into, and hacking it to make it think it is a DS1104Z is tempting, but I probably will not do that right away. Maybe once I feel what it offered is limiting. The deal breakers is the $400 price, a bit steep for me (cheap for something this good, apparently but still.), the fear that by the time I really start using it, it will be obsolete and the same money can buy some quantum super duper ASIC tech whiz bang 3GHz 100Gsa/s 1GB segmented memory spectacular scope! I am not really sure if it has a source, or signal generator either. Some sources claim that higher end ones do, or certain models anyway, and it seems like the official site say's no. http://www.rigolna.com/products/digital-oscilloscopes/ds1000Z/ds1054z/ That brings me to my next point. Should I also get a decent function generator?

400 Volts 3 phase to 240 Volts Single phase Motor

Hello we bought a cutter from Europe.  It came with 400V 0.75W  3 phase  motor. The motor has leads W2, U2, V2 U1,V1, W1 To convert to the 240 V single phase we jumped (W2,U1), (U2, V1), (V2,W1). We also put 50uf capacitor between (W2,U1), and (V2,W1) .See attached pictures. However the motor starts and spins for about 5mins then it trips the breaker. The motor heats up . Voltage reading Between (W2,U1) and (U2, V1) =240v Between (W2,U1) and (V2,W1) = 370v Between (U2, V1) and (V2,W1) =240v We thought  (W2,U1) and (V2,W1) = 370v was little high. Also the resistance between winding W1W2 is 36 ohms, U1U2 20 ohms, V1V2 20ohms Can someone help? I will really appreciate you help

Will an older motherboard which, according to specs, can run DIMM memory of 400 or less, still work with DIMM 800 or so?

DIMM 400 is obsolete, so it not easily available in strips of 1G or higher. But 512 MB of DIMM 400 is almost the same price as a more modern memory strip of 2G! Since the pin-out is the same, I was wandering if the more recent kind, like DIMM 800 would still work, but perhaps at a slower rate. If I would try, would it just not work, or would it fry (or fry the motherboard)?
