This is my newest project-the BTPA-7.  BTPA stands for bullet transfer pump action.  This gun brings out the new year of innovation, as it is my most innovative and successful gun yet.  It is a bolt action gun, making for superior efficiency, combined with a pump, making for a high ROF.  Unlike other bolt action guns, however, this gun uses a pusher to transfer the bullet to the firing chamber, and also unique to other bolt action guns, the bullet stays there until it is fired, no matter how you shake or tilt it.  Right now I have most of it done, but do not have the pieces for the ram guide, which is crucial to making the gun fire successfully, keeping the ram in tact as it is pulled back.   Here is a video of the bullet transfer system: And here is a video of the gun with the pump (I also removed some pieces that were getting in the way of the trigger so now it works perfectly) Let me know what you think.

I recently heard about the new BT TM-7. First thoughts were price and when it comes out. It is basically a invert mini in milslim form. Great for me though thinking about getting a mini to play woodsball with! (LOL). All in all i want to now your thoughts and opinions about this marker and if you know the price.

New Guide not found

I just added a new guide "Top-Aquarium-Projects-for-the-Aquarist". I published it and the direct link is active, but it does not show up in any of the categories(Living > Pets) I published it the day before yesterday, but it still isn't visible anywhere, exept on my profile. Also, it is not showed on my "YOU" page under published instructables or guides, and just shows "(0) Guides" I tried Safari opn MAC OSX 10.6, Chrome on Windows 7 and IE9 also on Windows 7. Kabir

new to arduino, want to run a dual display for 2 sensors

I'm new to the Arduino community.  wanting to set up a dual radar setup with 2 ultrasonic sensors,  (Ultrasonic Sensor Module HC-SR04), and outputting to a pair of 7 segment displays ( two 7 segment displays each).  I've found a code to do a single could use a lot of help to output two at the same time, basically 2 lanes without 2 units.  im using an arduino mega, ordered a unor3 and hopefully it can be made to run on one or the other. code is as follows: /* HC-SR04 Sensor    The circuit:     * VCC connection of the sensor attached to +5V     * GND connection of the sensor attached to ground     * TRIG connection of the sensor attached to digital pin 2     * ECHO connection of the sensor attached to digital pin 4  */    /*  This is a radar ping sensor that calcultates the speed of an  object traveling away or towards the sensor. I took some of this  code for the HC-SR04 Sensor implementation by Tautvidas Sipavicius. The rest  is original code from me. I know that the seven segment display  code is not the best to look at or the most optimized but it  serves its purpose just fine and is easy to understand.    Written by Matthew Ladd  */   const int trigPin = 2; New Commenting Bug

Did the change to comments affect commenting on Apple devices? I have both an Ipad mini and an Iphone 5 on ios 7 that have trouble commenting. When I leave a comment, the grey pop-up appears and says "missing comment text," even when I in fact did type something. The only ways I can comment now are through my "discussions" page and the ios app, which doesn't let me reply, either. I will repost this in the "bugs" forum as well. This comment was typed from my Ipod touch that runs ios 6.1.5 and still can reply. But the change is good in part, I used it to italicize words in this comment. :)

win 7 install on new hard drive with no installation DVD

I have a new hard drive for my laptop and need to install win 7 on it, as was previously installed on the old one. Being an OEM machine, it did not come with an installation disk so I either have to try and extract it from the old hard drive, or get a pirated copy. Is it possible to simply mirror the drive onto the new one, or will it require a DVD installation? I have the facilities to copy the drive while it is still in the laptop. Can the activation key from the genuine pre-installed windows be used with a pirated copy to make it work without any of the "windows genuine notifications"

Blue snowball mic and windows 7?

Alright, so today I received my new new Blue Snowball only to find it is incompatible with windows 7, or at least that's what I thought. After searching through the web for a fair few hours I found that many people had got their mic working with windows 7 yet there was no driver or firmware update available to download. I managed to find a firmware update although this stopped part way through demanding administrator rights which I gave it but it still wouldn't work :L I'm using the new macbook pro with retina display if that helps with motherboard compatibility. If anybody has a blue snowball I would really appreciate a download link to the driver you are using Thanks in advance Will

driver and update problem with windows 7

I've had my computer since last April. it has Windows 7 home premium sp1. the problem started about 6 months ago. whenever i plug in any new usb device, it fails to install any drivers. hardware installed before this started still works perfectly, only new stuff won't work. and the attached picture is what it looks like when i open windows update. both problems started around the same time, so i assume its the same problem, and i am just completely out of ideas as to what it could be. any help is greatly appreciated.

New computer freezing problem

So I just built myself a new computer with the following specs gigabyte motherboard model: GA-MA770T-UD3P (rev. 1.0) phenom 2 tri core processor 4gb ddr3 mushkin ram radeon 4670 tp link wireless card 2 LCD's hooked up to the 4670 Windows 7 64-bit/ XP 64-bit (not at the same time) +tons of cooling so nothing is over heating I installed windows 7 and it kept freezing up every once in a while and I tried just about everything to fix it. Updating bios, cleaning the registry, making sure all the drivers are up to date, all sorts of things. So I thought it was Windows 7 giving me the problem. I uninstall windows 7 and installed windows xp. I loaded up everything got the drivers up to date and after a couple of hours it froze up. Then I rebooted and bam another freeze 3 minutes into being on the computer. And again the next time 15 minutes into being on the computer. Now Im not sure if the freezing is happening on windows 7 for the same reason as on Windows xp and it is driving me crazy not being able to use my new computer Any ideas on what I can do to fix the problem? Thanks for any help. Got some more details. 1) I noticed when I move a window around I my cp usage spikes from 1% to close to 30%. Not sure if this is normal but with tri core 2.8ghz doesnt seem like this is good. 2) When I have 3+ windows open and I drag them over each other it leaves a trail or shadow of its edge so it looks like I am dragging many windows. Sometimes this shadow is just white. 3) Also when I try to install a game the computer will always freeze before it finishes and most of the time right at the beginning. 4) When I press the button to force it to go off and then turn it back on it often just comes up with a black screen and I have to repeat. it always turns on the second time. How can I tell if it is my hardware? Just did a video stress test and benchmark. Everything was normal. Ran "cpu stability test 6.0". Watched it for 20 minutes then I left the computer and came back to see it frozen in screen saver. Speedfan temps- Temp 1- 26c temp2- 25c HD0- 26C core- 15c It is pretty cold in my room. I also found something that makes it freeze every single time I have done it so far. When trying to install world of warcraft as soon as I click agree in the install setup it freezes. 6 out of 6 times. My power supply is 500w "stable power"

problems with the new instructables editor Answered

I've tried using both internet explorer and google chrome on windows 7 and neither worked. problems include: not being able to add image notes to instructables on the edit page, adding images is very slow. instructables get stuck in some point while editing and editting cannot be continued (even after closing the window, restarting the computer, restarting the internet in my house), instructables don't always save themselves when i press "Save Now", images are not displayed after being uploaded, the screen gets stuck on "updating" with a loading line, and more. what should i do? i'm trying to upload two instructables right now, and both are stuck and cannot be continued.

Links not opening in new window

1. What Operating system the device you are using, if its a computer, that would be linux, windows or mac (or freebsd etc) for mobile it would be android, iOS, windows mobile. Please also include the version number. - Win 7 2. Browser information including version number, if you're using the mobile app include app version number. Google Chrome Version 33.0.1750.154 m 3. Include what project or url you were looking at when the error occurred - 4. Screen shots of what happened if available. 5. steps to reproduce, this will be one of the most important pieces of information as it will enable us to do the same thing and find a fix. - made instructable then went to edit links to be sure they opened in new tab.. when checking, the links opened in same window/tab

Does this merit a new Instructable?

I haven't seen a guide on how to roll a paper cone anywhere on Instructables. I only recently figured out how to myself, so I figure that there must be some people out there in the same boat. I've taken all the pictures already, but I figured that I'd ask here first.UPDATE:There is this Instructable, but I think that there are several differences. (Side note: How do I make a list?)1. I analyze several different kinds of paper, and determine the best paper for a variety of desired effects.2. I describe how to load "warheads" into a dart, (Q-tips, toothpicks, etc.)3. I compare different ways of "setting" the dart. (Glue, tape, spit, etc.)4. I explain how to roll darts of different dimensions.5. I provide solutions to a few common problems.6. I describe the proper technique of "blowing" into a blowgun.7. I offer a few alternate uses, including something inspired by this Instructable. (I think we all know where I'm going with that one.) :P

Can someone please help me create a simple 7-segment number display? [see below for details]

Background info : My name is Simon. I'm a member of the Classic Celica Club of Victoria (Australia) that competes in an anual event called the Winton 6hr Regularity Relay. It's a 6 hour long track event with about 40 teams and 6 cars per team. Each team has one car on the track for the 6 hours. Prior to the race, each car nominates a time that they believe they can consistently do for their share of the race (usually approx. an hour each). Points are awarded for each lap achieved that is within 1 second of the nominated time. Points are deducted for any lap that is faster than the nominated time. The thing is THE DRIVERS CANNOT CARRY ANY FORM OF TIMING DEVICE IN THE CAR. The aim : To build a board that clearly displays a 3 digit time. (eg: 1min 56sec).  Team members will time the car on the track and then use the board to display the time for the driver to read as they pass by the pit wall.  (note: this practice is not against the rules). The requirements : The board must be big enough, and clear enough, to be read from >75m away. The adjustment of the board must be very quick and intuitive. (the task of timing is shared around and there's no time to train people to use the device). The board must be light enough to be held by outstretched arms. No timing device is required in the board itself. The time displayed on the board isn't always the time that is recorded. Adjustments are sometimes made for one reason or another. Scrolling through the numbers is fine, so long as you can scroll both up and down. Each digit should be completely individual (ie: not linked). Layout : [see attached images] I was thinking of using a typical 7-segment display layout made up of 79 x 10mm LEDs. The actual physical construction of the board is well within my ability. It's all the circuitry that i am clueless on.  I am a total newbie so please be gentle when describing electronics. I'm new to instructables but i have spent quite a few hours searching this site for answers. The thing i've found is that my device is far simpler than anything posted on here but i'm still too much of a newb to work out how to do it. ps: I hope i have posted in the correct section. Simon.

Can this computer support Windows 7? Answered

Hey, I've been shopping for a new computer and over all of the results, the cheapest most powerful one I've found is the HP Envy H8 with a AMD 6 core processor at 3.8Ghz (4.1 max). I will put my Radeon 7750 into it too. Anyhow, here is the one I want (Hopefully it hasn't sold yet, but there are many people selling it for this price too): So my question is, if I buy the Windows 7 OEM from (Shipped and sold by Amazon), would this system be able to run it correctly? If not, could I make any adjustments to make it run correctly? Thanks! (Hoping to run Battlefield 3, Portal 2, Team Fortress 2, Roblox, Minecraft, Halo Combat Evolved, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Need for Speed World on it at about medium graphics with at least 30-40FPS).

Would it be worth it to buy a new computer?

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline at 2.5GHz Dual-Core processor. It's using a Radeon 7750, a DVD RW CD RW optical drive, and a 286GB I think it is solid state hard drive. It's 2009 with an intel pentium processor and Windows 7 operating system. It has 3 USB 2.0 ports that are broken but with a 4 usb 2.0 port hub and 3GB of RAM. I would like to know if it would be worth it buying a new computer OR if it would be better buying an Intel i7 processor (3rd or 4th gen) and installing it manually. What are some problems I could face with installing one manually? I've seen processors that have Intel HD 4000 graphics in it already without a graphics card, would that interfere with my Radeon 7750? Could I fix that? Would it be worth buying a new gaming computer or would it be better buying an intel i7 processor at 3rd or 4th generation? If I were to buy a computer, I would buy one of the following:;=item19e1d83909 Or something that is below $720 and is at least quad core i7 or at least hex core AMD. I would much prefer Intel i7 though. And I would need at least my Radeon 7750 or better. I only use Windows 7, not Windows 8 so if it comes with 8 I will install 7. If I buy an i7 processor and install it into my current computer, what processor would be compatible with my computer? LASTLY: I will pay no more than $350 for the i7 processor. Thanks for reading!

Recycle Nexus 7 2013 display module?

I once got my Nexus 7 (2013 version) broken and fixed with a screen replacement. ASUS gave me back the display. Good news is, only the touch part is dead, the LCD display is still good. Is there any way that I can reuse this part, as a side screen to desktop computer for instance? P.S: I'm using iMac at the office so it'd be great if the hack is applicable on Mac.

Solution to computer problems (Windows 7???, hardware???)?

I had asked 2 questions about my 6 weeks during computer problem:' is Windows 7 That Bad??', and 'help'... Windows XP seemed to get slow and somewhat erratic, so instead of re-installing XP, I installed the 64b version of W7 ultimate, downloaded as 'freeware'. It was a chore to install, and much of my hardware was not recognized (no network port (= internet), only generic CD ROM instead of DVDRW, etc.).  Problems shutting down, and SLOOOOWWW. So after a while, I re-installed my trusted XP, but things did not get better (at all!). This was not normal! Since my HDDs came on and off, I figured it ought to be the motherboard. It always (2 1/2 years) worked fine, but after some internet search (I also do have a laptop), it seemed to be one of the worst MBs ever made... But a spare laptop HDD got fried instantly (motor+ is dead)... So I ordered a new one: A nice old fat Asrock, with 4 memory slots, and 7.1 sound.  It lasted 4 hours... No more picture, not by the board, not by the added card... By warranty, the MB might have been bad, so I got the replacement. But I did not trust my TRUST power supply anymore. So I bought a new 500 GB HDD and new (Cooler master 460 W power supply). Everything was wired up, Windows 7 installed, and it runs great!!! The laptop disk is dead, but my old system disk is most often recognized...  There was still a lot of important, non backed up data on it (!). I was able to secure all of it!!! So my conclusion is: it probably was the power supply: don't trust TRUST!!!

Link open in new window not working

When adding a hyperlink to my Instructable text I check the "open in new window" check box, then hit the "Insert" button.  However in the live Instructable, the hyperlink does not open into a new window, but opens in the current window taking the user away from the Instructable page.  I've tried modifying the Instructable using IE 11 and Chrome.  I'm on an HP laptop running Windows 7.  I've also looked at the live Instructable on IE 11 and Chrome...but I get the same result of the new window not opening. Is this a known issue and a fix is upcoming? Thanks.

Laptop can't connect to new wifi?

So recently my family got a new modem and basically wifi. However with the new wifi came problems for my brother specifically with his laptop. While the rest of my family can connect to the modem perfectly he has troubles. At first he was able to connect fine but then after like 30-2hrs he disconnects from it and is unable to connect to it at all. I tried many solutions such as updating the driver which was Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030 which didn't change anything at all. We restarted it but it failed. Right now the only way we can get it to have internet is connect directly through a cable which is a hassle. The laptop is Windows 7 64 bit. If you have any possible solutions please tell but try to be instruct-able as possible cause I'm not savvy with tech terms.

Raspberry Pi 24/7 Panda Cam

So I'm trying to make a birthday present for my girlfriend and something for her new apartment. She loves pandas and loves to watch the 24 hour live panda cams at the Smithsonian National Zoo. So I came across the idea of using a raspberry pi and a digital photo frame monitor to give a live feed of the pandas 24/7. Only problem is, I didn't realize Rasbian doesn't support Adobe Flash and there's no way to view the feed. Does anyone know if ARM Linux would support the feed. Or have another completely different take on a way to tackle this project? I want it pretty seamless so all see has to do it plug in the power supply and maybe an Ethernet cable and the rest be taken care of with a python script or something similar. I program for a living as well have a degree in Electrical Engineering so even if its complicated let me have it. I appreciate your help. Thanks!

I can't write a new Instructable

*I don't know if this is a function of the forums on this site, but I can't enter hard returns into this post; so, I'm sorry if it's difficult to read! PROBLEM: I can't write a new Instructable.  SYMPTOM 1: After adding text and a title; when I click "Add Step" everything I've typed disappears and a "blank" Instructable is added to the "Drafts" folder.  (As a result, I currently have 52 EMPTY Instructables in my "Drafts" when I'm only working on 1 project.)  SYMPTOM 2: When I try to add images from my library to a step and click on "add image," the image is not added, any text I have typed so far is deleted, and a new blank Instructable appears in my "Drafts" folder. SYMPTOM 3: When I click on "Preview" to see if the text I've entered is even taking hold, all text is deleted.  OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit. BROWSER: Internet Explorer 10.0.9.  *Since the symptoms of my problem are just everything disappearing, there is really no screenshot I can provide that would help further explain the issue. *The Instructable (itself) I'm trying to write is a part of a wedding gift and I only have a few days left.  Any help that can be rendered would be well appreciated!  Thank you!  -etymike

How does one dual boot windows 7 and linux mint with windows 7 installed first? Answered

So I recently upgraded my laptop, i swapped out the old 80GB HDD for a shiny new 120GB SSD, and I installed windows 7, I would like to know how to dual boot windows 7 and linux mint.  I've searched google, but all i find are forums where I dont understand the terminology that the users use.  I was wondering If anybody knows of a site that/could tell(s) me in simple terms how to do this.  I've done this before with windows vista and windows XP, so I know how to shrink volumes and all that type of stuff.

Post new topic link in Bugs not working

Every time I try to post a new topic in "Bugs" I get logged out and have to login again in a continuous loop. PC Game Controller Question

I want to buy the Logitech ChillStream PC game controller. I want this specific controller because it has the same layout as the Xbox 360 controller, but is much cheaper (from Ebay).  My computer is running Windows 7. I was wondering if there was a program that I can download, or that comes with the controller that lets me customize it for use with different games. Maybe let me navigate the computer with it, then choose or customize a new profile to play the new Split/Second PC game.

Say hello to RAMSR, the most efficient mag fed pin sniper to date. It has a rubber butt plate, a folding bipod, scope, true trigger, cheek rest, a shell ejecting system, and an internal magazine. it also has a pin guide and fake bolt action. the mag holds 7 red rods, or 4 red rods with shells. Shoots hard. (RAMSR= Reconaissance Advanced Master Sniper Rifle) Should I post? EDIT: I modded it so it almost never jams, and I fixed all of the problems with the shell system. I also gave it a better trigger. the pin bends too much for my liking. it has a pin guide. help?

Help with 7 color LED and Arduino requested.

I want to power a 7 color blinking LED from RadioShack ( I want the power to the LED to be constant so it stays on. I will have the ground pin connected to ground. I want the switch pin to be hooked up to a pin that I can have it go LOW or have it go to ground, and then have it delay I guess, and then have it go to LOW again so it changes colour. Please help me out. I am very new at C programming and I haven't found anything on Google. More info on LED: I want the Arduino to automatically change the color's of a 7 color LED. The LED is connected to power with the anode, and ground with the cathode. There is a third pin that if momentarily connected to ground it will change the color of the LED. Code similar to this but having pin 11 change from LOW or ground to OFF if possible. I need constant power to the middle pin, constant ground to the pin on the far right, and momentary ground with delay to the pin on the far left. I am getting an Arduino Duemilanove in about 2 days, and I want to write some code for it so I don't have to wait to do anything. I already wrote a rather long police light sketch that has different light patterns using just the LED's and the "delay", "HIGH" and "LOW" commands. I just need to know how to set pin 13 or whatever pin as HIGH without it interfering with the code at all because it will mess up my whole sketch. Code: void setup() { pinMode(13, OUTPUT); //Constant Vcc+ pinMode(12, OUTPUT); //Constant ground pinMode(11, OUTPUT); } void loop() { digitalWrite(13, HIGH); digitalWrite(12, LOW); digitalWrite(11, LOW); //I need this pin to be able to change state with delay without interfering with the other pins. }

Help with Arduino programming for LED display

What I want to do is keep score with my coin soccer game. I will have 2 metal contacts in the goals that when a coin goes through it will break contact and send a signal to the Arduino having the contacts allways HIGH and then when its LOW, it changes an 7 segment LED. I am very new to programming and the C language. I think I can write the whole IF and ELSE statements but I don't know how to make the LED display change. I need the LED display to change after getting the signal from my Arduino by going up one number. It is a single 7 segment display. Can someone help me with the code for that? Thanks in advance.

Learning Arduino & other basics

Ect student @ Devry here trying to put what i am learning to practical use. I reeeelay  want to learn arduino it seems very fun and has a wide range of things you can do with it. Other than basics (mm solder eq resisters/leds & tools and such) what are some "must haves".  Info like what board to start out with, power supplies i should acquire. Hints tips tricks, places to read would be great. I am somewhat limited on money (father of 7 trying to pay my way.) So i need to be budget minded. I have loved this site for a while and recently upgraded my membership. Some of the projects i see come from this community makes me drool. Ty  for reading.

New Editor Re-enters instructables to contests

Good morning all. Just added a new video to my instructable and clicked save. It would seem that from the email I just received it's been re-entered into a contest. I don't know if that means it was removed and re-entered or what's happening really.  1. What Operating system the device you are using. Using Windows 7 2. Browser information including version number. Chrome 34.0.1847.131 m 3. Include what project or url you were looking at when the error occurred: (editing - also inline video not obvious) 4. Screen shots of what happened if available. - emails in my inbox 5. steps to reproduce, this will be one of the most important pieces of information as it will enable us to do the same thing and find a fix. - Edit instructable that's entered into a contest, click save, check inbox. Hope that it's not nuked any votes you might have had!

Still computer problems: Not Windows 7? Not the motherboard? Not the HDD? Not the power supply??

Been having problem after problem with my 2 yr old computer: 2 months ago XP started misbehaving. Did install W 7. Many problems with compatibility, within 3 weeks installation corrupt. Reinstalled XP, which worked for 2 days. Ordered new ASROCK motherboard. One of the HDDs seemed to be fried. Put another (laptop) 2 yr old, almost brand new SATA2 HDD in, installed Windows 7 yesterday. It died just now .  What could be going on: Is the power supply killing my computer, is it coincidence or could it be something else?? This adventure is becoming very frustrating and expensive, and I've lost quite some data!

New member, unable to post comment to an instructible

I registered for a free account a few days ago, and was able to upload an avatar without problems (e.g., that part of the site recognized my login fine).  Whenever I try to post a comment to an instructible, however, it automatically goes to the login page as soon as I place my cursor in the comment box and hit a key (it won't even let me type anything into the comment box, just immediately pops up the login page).  It's also not showing my user name at the top of the page, just the "login" text.  So I log in, try to comment again, and get the same thing.  Refreshing the page makes no difference.  Logging in repeatedly also makes no difference.  I'm using windows 7 home premium and firefox 27.0.  The instructible page I was trying to post a comment on is:   Note, I've also tried it on a few of the individual step pages also, not just the "all steps" page, and it still automatically goes to the login page the second I put my cursor in the comment box. Thanks in advance for help fixing this problem!! (hopefully it will post - the top of the page says "you" so I'm assuming it is recognizing my login properly, where the instructible page is not.)

One just stays in a room all day and never leaves, the other wanders around all high and mighty. Meanwhile the older girl cat, hates one of the kittens and always attacks her when she sees her.The other kitten is too cautious she jumps if you make any sudden movements. How do i get these cats to get along with each other??

eBook downloads in Firefox 4, 5, 6, AND 7

I am hoping I am not the only one with this issue: The new ebook downloads are currently very difficult to download in Firefox here. In Firefox 4-6, the links that should show up are covered almost completely by the text box above them, leaving a two pixel high sliver that can be clicked on. This makes it very hard to download the ebooks in Firefox. In Firefox 7, the buttons are mostly covered. You cannot read the text, but you can at least tell the buttons are there, as a 10 pixel high orange stripe appears. The links work normally in other browsers I have installed (Iron, Opera), as well in Firefox 3.6.x (confirmed from another user's computer). I've attached a screenshot that exemplifies this issue. For reference, I'm doing this on Windows 7 x86, SP1. Display resolutions are 1600x900 pixels for secondary, 1900x1080 pixels for primary. 96 DPI - nothing strange here. I have gone as far as reinstalling the operating system, with no change. I also have a Linux machine running Firefox 7, on which I cannot replicate this issue, even with the same set of add-ons installed to it. On Windows: Current browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 On Linux: Current browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 Update: This issue has persisted for four full versions of Firefox, and STILL hasn't been addressed by staff. This is why I let my Pro subscription lapse, and don't want to renew it.
