Bluetooth Speakers

Hello everyone... rookie here.  I have been looking at the Bluetooth speakers instructables, but I was looking to take it another step.  I need to be able to also transmit to another speaker 30-40 feet away from the "master".  What would be the best way to approach this? Thanks, Tony

Bluetooth repeater

This is actually a question, for a group who appear to be the real hackers of science. OK, so much for the butter.. here's my question: I've seen an add for a Bluetooth device which will connect up to five headsets, forum style. But at 400 plus shipping, U.S., I was wondering if there might be another... more techie... cheaper way to do it. I only need to couple two headsets, but I understand that headsets don't have the smarts to be able to pair with each other. Any takers? Anyone do this before? Thanks, Stan

Bluetooth gadget

Hi gadgeteers :) I know what I want and I know how I want it to work. I have seen on here and other sites circuits and projects that almost do what I want, but the they are too complex. Basically I want a keyless vehicle ignition using bluetooth. What it needs to do: When my mobile moves into range it will turn on (and stay on). When my mobile moves out of range it will turn off. It needs to run from vehicle power or recharge itself from it. It specifically does not require an app on the subject device. I normally keep my bluetooth turned off, so it would actually be when it is turned on or off.

Bluetooth remote?

I really really really hate infrared remote controls. When I'm sitting comfortably, I always have trouble pointing it just right. Of course I realize this is probably an issue with my setup, but it wouldn't be an issue if the remote used Bluetooth. So I figured I'll write an Android remote control app that pairs with a little Bluetooth box that has an infrared led pointing right at the decoder. Thing is, the programming is no issue, but I haven't built anything more involved than an AV-switch box in the last decade. So I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance on using off-the-shelf components to pair/send/receive Bluetooth commands and decode them so I can flash the little infra-red LED. I'm perfectly happy to handle storage and all the other requirements on the phone.

Arduino Bluetooth Gamepad

I wanted to make a general purpose VR game pad and I thought that if I made a Bluetooth mouse using an HID module then I could get it to press a specific coordinate when a button was pressed. I run into the problem, though, of multiple button presses. The best solution I could come up with was to have it quickly switch between the coordinates but then I can't have it hold down the buttons. How do commercial Bluetooth game pads work and how could I replicate this using Arduino?

Bluetooth to landline phone

Hello, I would like to use the bluetooth headset I use with my cell phone for my landline phone at home. There are oodles of instructions out there on how to hack headsets to put them into old phones, I am looking for the opposite. Apparently Jabra used to make something that could have got me started (I believe it was called an A210) but that doesn't seem to be sold any longer. There are some wireless phones out there that incorporate bluetooth, but why add a battery operated wireless phone to a wireless headset - the bluetooth range would give me what I need to stay unencumbered. I have an old cell I could hack apart but I suspect that it would be tricky to get its bluetooth hacked into the analog phone line... Any thoughts? berserk

Momentary switch to Bluetooth

I'd like to make a number of smallish (say 0.75x1x2 inches) battery-powered Bluetooth boxes each of which connects to a momentary switch, and sends an RFCOMM or HID signal via Bluetooth on depression and another on release, and which will to communicate with an Android device. Because I want to make several of these, I want something super cheap and super simple to make.  (The purpose is to make a simple wireless touch detection system for foil and epee fencing. Without on-target detection, it's not going to be great, but it will be an improvement over refereeing fully dry bouts, since at least one will have proper impact and lockout timing.) Here are options I've been thinking about: 1. One thing that would *almost* do the job is to buy one of those $3-5 ebay Bluetooth phone camera remotes, and just wire my switch to it. The only problem is that according to the ads I've seen, these Bluetooth phone camera remotes go to sleep in 2-10 minutes when paired (exact timing seems to depend on the model), and I would really rather avoid this (the 10 minutes is almost acceptable). If anybody knows of a way of keeping them paired and awake for a longer period of time (say, 15 minutes or permanently), I would love to hear. This would be the cheapest and simplest solution, and it comes with a case and battery (some units are even USB chargeable).  2. On the other extreme of the price range, I happen to have some extra Brainlink modules with an atxmega and an RN-42 module inside, and it wouldn't take long to customize the firmware to do the job. But the modules sell for $39 (though sometimes on sale for $20), and that seems overkill for something so simple. And they are a touch larger than I like (about 3 inches diameter, and an awkward shape). 3. Another option might be to use a cheap serial Bluetooth module without additional hardware, and wire the switch directly to CTS. Unfortunately, I don't think the cheap HC-06 modules support CTS, though I think the HC-07 does support it (but I don't know if I can access it as it's probably not one of the pins on the header). Moreover, there are two unanswered questions on Stackexchange on how to access CTS/RTS status from Android, so this might require using a laptop as the base station (which isn't ideal). 4. A very cheap microcontroller with a UART (or just bit-banging) plus a cheap Bluetooth module. This increases the complexity of the project, but might be the way to go. More specific recommendations are welcome, as I have no experience with the hardware side of dealing with a microcontroller (on the software side, I've spent a fair amount of time tweaking the firmware of the Brainlink unit).

Bluetooth communication questions.

Hi all, I havent played with bluetooth before, so I wanted to ask a few questions before getting myself started. I want to create a simple robot that is controlled by bluetooth and make most of it from scratch. where there will be a transmitter and a receiver, followed by arduino that creates my PWM, the H-bridge and finally the motors.  I was wondering how exactly does the bluetooth work. I checked a little bit online for the prices.  the standard bluetooth dongle that connects to a PC are about 2-5$. but the arduino shields are 60-100$. I was wondering if I can get myself 2 bluetooth USB dongle and make them communicate between each other.  Is it because there are other 'modules' neccessary to properly communicate that the computer has so we cant use a dongle on the arduino which making us buy the expensive shield? So to recapitulate, my point is, can I use a standard cheap usb dongle to both send and receive information?

Bluetooth speaker not turning on?

Hi, i made a basic DIY Bluetooth speaker with a glass box. I used one 18650battery from old laptop, a charging module with protection circuit inbuilt, one stepup module to step up 4v to 5v and a 3w amplifier. It's a basic project, but the thing is WHEN I TURN THE SWITCH ON(AMPLIFIER POTENTIOMETER IS OFF) I SEE LED BLINKING ON BLUETOOTH MODULE, MEANS IT'S WORKING ,THE CIRCUIT IS OK. THE MOMENT WHEN I TURN ON THE POTENTIOMETER ON OF THE AMPLIFIER THE SPEAKER JUST SOUNDS LIKE "TICK" AND BOOM EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF. I TRIED TO MEASURE THE VOLTAGE COMING FROM STEPUP MODULE SAYS "0"V. SO I PLUGGED A CHARGER ON CHARGING MODULE AND THEN TRIED TO TURN ON AND FIRST 2 SEC SPEAKER MAKES SOME SOUND AND IT TURNS ON AND PLAYED SOME MUSIC, IT WORKED GREAT. THE THING IS WHENEVER I'M TURNING ON THE AMPLIFIER VIA POTENTIOMETER OR THE POTENTIOMETER IS ON AND I SWITCH ON THE POWER FROM THE FIRST SWITCH THE POWER CUTS. SO WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE SPEAKER. PLEASE TELL ME :(

creating a bluetooth dongle...?

ive been waiting for my dongle i ordered from dealextreme.com for far to long and i am a very impatient man. ive set out to make a dongle, or try until it finally gets here. ive considered many options but its looking like this will be the most promising. my friend gave me a slightly damaged ipod touch (2nd gen?), which i found out has a broadcom bluetooth chip in it. i ripped up the ipod, found the chip, and the datasheet. ive messed with some circuitry before, but i am lost on this. im actually pretty novice with this sort of thing, but ive experimented and learned a lot on my own. i am eager to learn. my goal is to make this into a usb bluetooth adapter. i have all the ipod parts (may need some?), usb cables are abundant, and i have a soldering gun and i am able to use it. could someone please help guide me in the right direction? i am sorry if this doesnt belong here.. this is my first post here, but ive been enjoying the site for a while now. i am a big do it yourself kind of guy and will most definitely be uploading some of my ideas when i get around to it.

Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds

I REALLY want Wireless headphones, but the caveat is that I want them to be earbuds.  I've seen people do all sorts of things to the big bulky ones, but I need these for stealth; I wanna listen to music in school! haha Don't try and tell me I ought to be studying either! =P The original plan was to use an RF transmitter and a RF receiver for each earbud, but RF modulation is static-ey and is subject to a LOT of interference. So the alternative is Bluetooth or other means of digital modulation.  I can't find a way to make your own "bluetooth" per se, leaving the only option to cannibalize another bluetooth device. Below is a quick sketch of what I had in mind.  I know there's more to it like resistors and whatnot, but I'll let you folks figure that stuff out. XD The idea is that the headphone hook around your ear and the receiver will hang off the back of your ear.  If you have any questions, just ask! =D Thanks for your help!!

[Arduino] Problem connection Bluetooth

Hi all, A while ago I got a HC06 bluetooth module. In the beginning everything worked OK, but now some problems have appeared. Pairing in Android works fine, as well as with my laptop. The problem arises when connecting my phone (Google Android 4.2 with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR) to the device. BlueTooth Serial Controller 16 seems the only working app, but I would like to use my own application, based on the code described here https://www.instructables.com/id/Android-Bluetooth-Control-LED-Part-2/step8/Download/ Also other apps like BlueSerial Beta and Bluetooth ssp pro do not work. Does anyone have a clue how to solve this problem? Many thanks in advance. Regards, Zytro
