does anyone know how to make a simple sampler that one can record onto and play back at the push of a button, only instead of recording on a mic you record via loops and inputs?

I have recently purchased a Soundlab dsm5....I have minimal RCA cable at the moment so i have done this -> I have connected my ipod to the mic jack with a 3.5mm to 1/4 inch adaptor..... then from that i have connected a RCA cable to 3.5mm mono adaptor (orginally for a camcorder so it has a video RCA as well) from the AMP channel on the mixer to the AMP...... My problem is ....is that the Music plays but has a really bad quality? ....my amp is not bad quality, as i have done played music with it with no problem and the mixer and the amp are both sound lab....It might be I shouldnt connect the ipod to the mic but to line one or line 2 (inputs) to get more quality .... I dont know?...... Best awnser gets a patch!

Im having issues mapping the device in virtual dj. It was fine until my trial of virtual dj pro ran out. I acquired a new version of the program and now im having issues with certain buttons not mapping properly. Many buttons are only controlling the left deck including the gain. The pitch slider isnt mapping and im unsure how to map the lights. it used to recognise the device by name but now its just "simple midi device" any help would be great, im very new the dj world.

Now you may all be wondering, why do I keep making DJ Radio graffiti's? Well, to be honest, it's three simple reasons, I like drawing graffiti, DJ's name is cool to write in it, and he is awesome :-) Also, I have just added in a picture of one that I made for Kiteman, just to show you all :-)

So... I was wondering, would anyone be up for a challenge? Here it is: USB powered strobe lights, sound reactive. We got lots of geniuses here, but no one makes this little gadget. They have them on the back of the DS's X3, four lights in each side of the cartridge that react to the music that plays through the DS speakers. But, of course, not outside of a DS cartridge, apparently. Could you do it? Are you brave enough, smart enough, quick enough to be the first? Hm. Lets see it. If you do, post ideas and progress here. Seems like an interesting little project.

I need a little more light to help my live video feeds to be clearer to the viewer. A small desk light is too focused on an area for what I want, and there is not the right floorstanding lamp for the purpose. so I have decided to go the custom route... I am not looking to add anything to the light circuit in the room, from the cieling rose, or the mains sockets, as tthese already have enough plugged in. I have got an led bulb - http://www.clasohlson.com/uk/Unidirectional-LED-Capsule-Bulb/Pr364131000 This works fine from the external molex connector on the external back face of my computers PSU. The shade I'm going to use is this: http://www.diy.com/nav/decor/lighting/indoor-lighting/light_shades/-specificproducttype-black___white_shades/-colourderived%3Eblack/Tezz-Metal-Pendant-Shade-9956483 the problem I have is I want it to be positioned above the desk where my equipment is. I cannot fix into eiter the wall or ceiling, due to them not supporting anything of any weight, therefore it must be fixed to the desk. I have my laptop and monitor on clamp-on arms - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vertical-Monitor-Clamp-Cable-Mountain/dp/B001B7DT5E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid;=1358138450&sr;=8-2 which it could be fixed to. I am also open to other ideas as well This is where I need some ideas and input on what I could use to get it in the right place. What could I use and how?

I am a Internet Oldies Radio station owner seeking out talent for my legally licensed professional internet radio station. My goal is to find people that want to have fun on air and practice their talents as a professional Jock learning the way that FM radio runs without all the stringent rules that FM radio has in place. The station has rules that need to be followed obviously , but their rules are simple and not so hard to follow that you feel like it is work. It is alot of fun. The site has alot to offer in terms of what is on it for activities and it is state of the art. What this position is for is 3 different styles of DJ , Blues DJ , Oldies DJ and a Country DJ , perfect for someone who loves music , has a LARGE collection of MP3's , enough to fill at least a 2 hour or 3 hour show. Maybe have some knowledge about the artist's being played to throw in some great little tidbits to the listeners. This show would air once a week and be promoted by all staff members at their convenience. This is a NON PAID position and to gain experience ONLY, while having fun and meeting new people from all over the world. If you interested and want to apply you must first have : * A good connection that is reliable to the internet * A fast PC able to handle chat , music , messengers going to be able to deal with possible requests. * A positive and upbeat attitude about your show * Plenty of music to fill the time slot * A good quality mic that doesnt sound tinny or cheap * And the ability to be able to commit to whatever time slot agreed upon * Be able to agree to some simple station rules regarding promo's being played , DMCA compliance rules , announcements and things of that nature. You will get alot of exposure and alot of interaction on this site. The intent of this message is to find good on air talent that wants to be part of a professionally run station, while having lots of fun and meeting lots of new people and learning how internet radio runs. So please if you are truly interested in this , or knows someone who is . . . . send me a email at : email@example.com and you'll be responded to with more details and be setup for an interview with the DJ Mananger. Thanks everyone !

Hello everyone I'm a complete newbie I'm afraid so sorry for asking for such help so early on! Im renovating an old vinyl cabinet I found in the salvos and turning into a dj deck for my new Vestax Typhoon. I need space for my laptop and midi mixer and would love to still have the original vinyl player on show somehow! Any ideas from the creative community I ideally want to dj from behind the speakers. Also I have plugged it in and I get some sound from the speakers and the volume knob still works but the radio does not. What is the best way to have the midi mixer hooked up to the speakers so I can play out of them? Im not sure of their quality and if they are rubbish when hooked up I can also replace them. Any electrical knowledge would be amazing and can just about wield a soldering iron! Much thanks in advance any ideas on colour schemes or extra add ons would be very welcome!! Sophie

I'm struggling to assign the artists name to a file and I was wondering if anyone knew a fast and easy solution? I'm basically ripping cds to my computer and I can get the artist name up in itunes but not in the file ripped to my computer, is there a way to do so without individually renaming each file. I also want to include information like cover art, although this isn't essential. Any help much appreciated, THANKS!

Yes, today is my birthday. I am 14. I have a cake and everything. I was gonna post a gun to concide with this event but unfortunately I couldn't finish it in time. Oh well. *Update* To coincide with my birthday, I will not read any PM unless it has "To his majesty, the Honorable DJ Radio" in the subject line until March 15, 2010, 14 days from now. The only exceptions are staff and replies to PM's I have made before March 1. I'm serious, if you want your PM's read, you have to use that subject line until March 15.

Ok, when I was djing at a party i thought of this cool idea of the LEDs flashing to tempo, and when the music changed (for example, 120bpm to 140bpm) the LEDs would change tempo with the music. And if it was even possible, link the arduino with Virtual DJ so when the music changes and so does the tempo and so does the lights. Its confusing and all over the place but it would be amazing if it was possible to link to virtual DJ.
Question by Delta1Dan | last reply
I know this has to somehow be possible but I just haven't been able to find anything on it. It seems like such a basic idea for controlling lights especially for DJs.

With all the technologies available today does anyone know of an all encompassing program that can break down songs into layers? Like the layers used to make the master recording. So you can create your own mash ups? Say I want the guitar riff from AC/DC and a trumpet "layer" from Dizzy Gillespie. Thanks- Yellowshades
