HI, i have a circuit  in the image above this is a simple led circuit but i found a resistor between positive and negetive terminal  the resistor's value is 15 kilo ohms but i don't know what it does in this circuit can anybody tell me ( Elaborate! ). regards Samad Haque samad@oniworld.in

When does the contest end?

Who doesn't have trouble around the opisite gender? Who adores the females? Who can simply go up to a girl and have a decent conversation with them without choking or talking giberish? Who finds themselves decent looking for girls to like? Most embarresing situation with a girl? general questions. I personally am ok (and mildly ok) when they ask me a question or need me to help them. I have never started conversations with them but recently a girl that i really have fancied has tried to talk to about tv shows with me out of the blue. :D:D:D:D :P:P:P:P:P I am well chuffed about that. Thankfully i have not yet talked giberish to a girl. yay! I find myself decent looking for girls for me to like and perhaps attractive for them :P. Hi, I've been on Instructables for over 3 years and thought I'd create my first instructable today, through the video instructable template.  I have managed to create a draft fine, exactly as I wanted it. But when I click the Publish Tab, the little updating bar comes up for about 1 second, then goes away, and that's it, it's still on the EDIT tab, and has not been published or changed anything. I've tried it in current versions of Firefox and Chrome, but it's the same in both browsers. Everything in the EDIT and SHARE tabs work fine, it is just a problem with the PUBLISH tab. My OS is Windows 7. It is really puzzling to me as to what is happening and any help would be very much appreciated. At the top of the page there is a YOU, after a search, you select a topic (e.g fixing antique sewing machines), and you get thrown out of YOU into LOGIN, and then get told you have to go PRO, so you select PRO even though you are already a PRO member, and then the whole stupid process starts again.

Hello, Yesterday I published an instructable, and I found it weird that there are still 0 views. So I searched for my instructable in the correct page, and sorted them by Recent and it doesn't seem to be there. This is not the first instructable I publish here, the others are working perfectly, and they do appear in the 'recent' list. What could be wrong? I also tried unpublishing ad re-publishing the instructable but that also didn't help. (link: click) Thanks in advance, Electorials

Just found on YouTube a printer that prints on curved surfaces. As I do airbrushing which is very time consuming and the return for hours spent is very low . I can build the frame work and install print head etc. However the scanner and associated software is beyond me . please if you can help go to YouTube and type in ARTROBO . It may just be my google-fu failing me, but I can't find switch I am sure must exist: A sliding switch with reversing (DC) polarity. At one end of the slider, power is full "forward".  Slide the controller, and power decreases.  Reach the centre, and power is zero/off.  Slide past the centre, and power increases again, but with reversed polarity, ie in reverse.

I got an email stating that my latest instructable was featured on the front page, but I never saw it there. Did anyone else? I got the email around 5:30 am, does that mean it was featured for a bit in the early morning and then disappeared into the tech category? Is there a significant delay between the time something is chosen to be featured and the time it appears on the front page? Thanks! Xellers

Seriously! As I said in the Goodbye Forum, my Internet drops every Monday. The cable guy never seemed to fix anything when he came. This time, he looked at the cable itself. Guess what? He found gnaw marks! Some little critter has been feasting on my Internet! Could it have been one of KJ's minions, or Labot2001's doing? It's taking ~~two~~ five hours for my instructable to publish :(

What does getting featured mean and how do I get featured?

I was curious how the "Most Popular" section on the front page works, it's great and shows some wonderful Instructables, but I'm curious as to how an Instructable with just 67 views gets #1 on the list. Is it views / time? Comments / time? Thanks!

This circuit is used to connect a BASIC STAMP to the telephone line. I know what almost every part does, and where to find almost all the parts, exception the "Sidactor". Could anyone tell me what it does, if the circuit really needs it, and where i can find one or how I can substitute. UPDATE: Thanks, all who answered.

Is it not the most ridiculous thing?! I have to read 2 (count 'em - two) books and do a book report on each, one of which includes making maps, graphs, and a load of other stuff.To me, summer is supposed to be a break. Like, Christmas break, or Thanksgiving break, where there shouldn't be any homework given.And what's even more stupid (but slightly funny in a way) is that I'm going into 9th grade. All the teachers and counselors were saying how much stress you're going through, and then they make us do all this homework, which is major grade, be due on the first day of school?I'm not in AP classes either. Just 9th grade gifted! It's crazy!Geez! Shouldn't there be a law against this?
