I got a USB cable fro the dollar store today for, well, one dollar. I was wondering if there was a way I could control the voltage output from my computer. I stripped the cable (it was male to male), and tested the output with my multimeter, too. I am getting about 5vdc, is that normal? I thought I got more out of the USB port. Like I said, I was wondering about any opensource usb control program I could use to control the USB voltage. Is this even possible? Also, I can't program AT ALL, or understand it, either.(if it matters)

I bought a Compaq Presario F700 Notebook PC but it came with vista. i gave it a try but did not like it. so i bought windows xp PRO i installed and there wasn't any problems. but i need some drivers which i could not find. if you can help me please do so. in the picture you can see that i am missing some drivers but i cant seem to find them if you need more information please feel free to contact me.

i want to make a LED light source, I have found a few on other places, but not sure of those. I have a 9v battery, 4LEDS.  If anyone would be so kind, I have two set ups I am considering. One will have a 555timer, to make the LEDS "pulse"    The other is just direct connect battery to LED i am aware a resisitor or several are needed for this direct arrainagement, so my question for this setup is how to make the most of it. a third option is to incorporate the two above.  *did find an instructable which used a wall plug as the driver, with some modification of course. thanks in advance.

I was looking for a good way to drive a flyback, and a circuit to make a Plasma Speaker.  What I came up with, can you use an MC12061 running at 3.8MHz through an IRF540 MOSFET to drive it?  If that works, could you make a summing amplifier with an Op Amp to sum the output of the MC12061 and the Audio (Maybe amplify the audio a bit before the summing amp?) before driving the MOSFET?  Would this work?  Would there be significant problems like heat dissipation from the MOSFET, distorted sound, etc? Thanks

Can I power an AC LED driver with DC voltage, from what I understand the driver controls voltage and current. I purchase an LED light 7 x 1watt , the driver was rated 85 - 265 volt ac input but the seller had written 12 volt DC with grease pen across the printed label. This light works fine so I ordered 7 more like it with same ratings from a differant seller and they only work on 115 - 230 volt. Now I need to find proper driver or ship back to Hong Kong( Grrrr) I have seen drivers rated at 12 volt AC, will these work on 12 volt DC voltage? Thank you in advance, Duncan.

Is there a better transistor to use instead of the 2n3055 because those things break easily and are somewhat expensive.

Ok so i have 3 leds in series but in total i have 4 sets of these. the ma is 20 and the volts is 3.4 or 3.6 on the led and i want to run it at 12 volts with 6800ma. what i want to do is build a driver to regulate them so they wont burn out fast. so i want to know how to build one and what i need.

So, I'm working on a coilgun, and I don't want to use camera flash circuits to charge the capacitors. Anyway, I've recently come across this, and was wondering if anyone knew what voltage it put out, and current, and stuff like that. Also, if anyone knows an alternate way of charging capacitors to a voltage of 100v - 400v, please share (after all, sharing is caring). Ciao.

I need a chip that will be able to power  5 or more LEDs not past like 10 though cause it's not necessary channels of LEDs ,I want to be able to have each channel doing different patterns at the same time, blinking ,fading ,or just on.  (it doesn't matter how much MA the chip can handle as I will be using transistors to amplify the signal ,most likely) It needs to be able to fit in a 1/2 inch tube. So I have removed a buzzer from an out of date smoke for fun use, but it doesn't work as expected.  I set up a driver circuit with a 555 and some resistors/capacitors.  I don't deal much with IC's or the 555 and haven't really bothered to learn to use them properly, but I took an LED flash circuit and vastly decreased the capacitance, upping the frequency drastically.  I have included an image of the circuit.  The 555 runs on 6 volts, the buzzer runs on 9 (the blue wires).  The volume was ok, but nowhere near expected levels and I wondered if it had to do with the higher than normal frequency.  I attached it to an arduino and ran the tone function from below audible to above it (whole frequency range) and the sound was very quiet, even using an npn transistor and 9 volts right off the battery hitting the buzzer.  As you can see, the buzzer has 3 leads, i only used two, but as with most 3 poll buzzers I assumed one was just for some form of feedback.  Any voltage in any direction across the three produces sound, so should I use all three, and if so how should I do so.  How would you recommend driving this buzzer?

I am looking at making a chandelier which will consist of 6 groups of 13 LEDs. Since this is being hooked to a 120 volt circuit I will need a LED driver. Is it better to build the driver myself or just buy one.

Ok yes its me again with the need for more computer help...(I am slowly getting better) Ok I just recently fixed up a windows 98 computer (well 4 of them) And I really need drivers for them. What is the best place to find them? Is it possible to put a big database on a CD ? Can I make a disc of drivers from my windows XP computer ? Where can I download a bunch of them ? EDIT: I have to use my windows xp computer to get the drivers because the computer I am working on needs drivers for the Network Card

How do I assemble a parking sensor? I am lost. What ideas does everyone have? Using an Arduino.

I need to driver (5) 1watt white LEDs (forward voltage of 3.2~3.5v) and current of 350mA. I guess the best way would be to connect them all in series and somehow give them power. This is meant to be powered off of the wall socket (whether through SMPS or a capacitor or a resistor or a transformer or anything.). My question is what's the best way to drive them? I've never really used high power LEDs before. I'd also prefer to be able to adjust the brightness...

So I have four 10 W LED's and I want to run them all together off of a led driver but I'm not sure what type of driver I need to get. My led's specs are. I will not pay $20 for one.  I've seen lots of sites about the driver but most of them has circuit made for  LEDs which have a forward voltage of 2.8-3.6V. and mine has a Forward Voltage of 12V. I was looking at this page on flybacks, and I was reading about the transistors, when I realized that I don't know anything about picking transistors out. I'm an electronics noob, what can I say. Would these work? The flyback is going to be from an OLD computer monitor. I need help.

Hi guys how are ya doin? :DRecently I'm working on the next project, which is about battery powered bicycle led lamp. So in that case I want to use LED driver. Then I've founded this schematic with CMOS 555 timer, who runs more than 5 LEDs in series. Excited by this new found schematic, I bought the parts & connected them like so. Unfortunately, it turns out, it wont work. :/ At 3.7v they won't even light up, but at 5v they start to shine a little bit. I'm wondering do I need to put different transistor (in my case it was PN2222A - that's the one I had and its equivalent to 2N4401)? Or what the problem with this circuit.I would more than thankful for your help. :D

Im looking for a schematic that controls 1w leds for my fish tank light? i need the control to be dimmable and hopefully programmable so i can incorporate a sun motion effect and then a moon motion effect! i say hopefully because this will need to be an add on later in the project as id like to have the initial lighting up as quickly as possible! As far as i know so far, the circuit is a basic constant current circuit but  i need a "buck" driver or PWM to enable the dimming by varying the current! so my questions are :- 1. Does anyone know of a simple, reliable and cheap circuit to use? 2. Because of the amount of LED's ill be using im not sure i like the idea of having all the lights in a series configuration because if one fails, thats a lot of lights to test! 3. If i have to use a computer to run the lights id like to be able to make it compatable with the raspberry pi therefore id need a program and mounting software for the pi, so anyone know of one? 4.Right to the power, i dont care what voltage it runs on but id like to only utalize one plug socket if possible, i do have a few power supplies laying about for various things like old laptops and old pc's, so what do i need to power it! i cant think of any more at the moment but you guys know what im trying to achieve so im sure you know what questions i have missed! as i said though, id like to start simple and work up to sun motion control and timers! Hi! I am trying to find a good h-bridge for a 3 volt stepper motor. Basically my plan is to build a stepper motor controller with an arduino for controlling various functions in a model kit. I have the arduino-kit and the motors. But I need a good reference for a h-bridge, but all i can find are chips rated for much larger drive currents. Also exactly how hot does a hbridge get when under load? I would like to integrate the bridges into the kit, but since it is plastic, I would like to know in advance how hot it gets, and if it gets too hot I'll have to look at another solution.Any help appreciated! PS. If you can please put the hbridge part ID in your answer for easy reference. DS.

Say I have 3 LEDs in series that have a Max Forward Voltage of 6v and an operating current of 1000mA. I could get a driver like a buck puck, say the 3021-D-E-1000mA BuckPuck. It has an input voltage of 5 - 32v, and let's say I give it the full 32v, so how does that not end up burning out my LEDs? My actual goal is to have 3 strings of 6 Cree XP-e LEDs connected to 3 Drivers. But I can't quite figure out how to properly size the driver. I know it puts out a constant current, and the voltage fluctuates -- what is there to determine which one to get so I don't end up pushing too much voltage? Or am I misunderstanding something about how the voltage will fluctuate? Sorry for the noobishness, this is my first real electronics project.

I have a FujiFilm camera that is not working. I want to take it apart, but it has very small triangle screws all over the place. They have only 3 prongs instead of the usual 4. Where can I get a screwdriver for this? Can anyone help with this issue. Thank you

I hope im posting this in the right place, has annyone found a driver for the galaxy s4 (or simmilar) LCD panel, i have recently tried to replace the cracked glass and a small mistake later i destroyed the touch capability of the LCD assembly, it would be a waste of a completly good full HD 5" AMOLED LCD so i was wondering if annyone has anny idea if a (fake chinese or something) driver board exists for this LCD so you could plug a HDMI on it ... thank you ! 

I'm planning on building an on building an IR light source for a DIY night vision setup. to do thus I'm using a 300 mw IR laser diode. the diode needs to be powered by 2.2 volts. I'll be using a LM317T to adjust to voltage but my question lies in the current needed. I'm familiar with powering LED's but not with diodes. since the power is 300 mw and the voltage is 2.2 V would i be powering it using about 130 mA? in addition to that how would I achieve this? I know the LM317 can be used as a current regulator but how is this done? any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have been working on a laser engraver for some time now, and have just recently gotten the laser parts.  I need to make a laser power supply, which I currently have a 5-volt fixed regulator which turns 15v 380ma into (obviously) 5v with roughly 400ma (value on label is not completely accurate).  I know that diodes will drop ~.6-volts, which I have a line of about 7 of them for testing, giving me 2-volts with the same current.  The problem I'm having is, I put proper resistors into the circuit to give 200ma to the diode, but every time I attach the laser to test the current it always reads 17ma on my volt meter.  Why is this?  How am I able to build a proper laser driver with limited parts (limited to a large supply of resistors and mixed caps, no adjustable regulator)?

I just built a beefed up ZVS driver to handle a large continuous current, however, I now lack a power supply that will allow me to reach its full potential. The biggest thing aside from my variac that I have is two xbox power supplies in series (24V 29A). I would like something around 40-50V with at least 5A. I could rewire a mot which would take a very long time and weigh a lot so if anyone has any schematics or pointers on how to make one electronically it would be much appreciated!
