Equalizer Schematic

Is there a schematic or a compact way (some compact sound system without all of the cd players and radio and all of that other fancy stuff, my input is just a 3.5mm jack) of creating an equalizer like below? I just thought up a cool project, but no schematics on the internet...

LED equalizer

Hello, I was thinking about making an interactive light display, using an arduino. I was thinking about using an equalizer like the msgeq 7 and having it light up different panels, but I'm not sure how to power each panel, because I want around 20-30 leds in each, and there hopefully would be 5 panels. I also wanted each panel to light up based on the volume of the music, and I wasn't sure how to do that. Lastly I was only looking for around 3 frequency ranges, and I don't know how to restrict the ranges in an equalizer. Thank You!

Equal Rights for Robots

Not trying to spam/ad to the fire of religious debate or any of that, but recently I saw this post on Digg about this kid at Kutztown University who showed up at a religious protest, and to counter their craziness, he held up a sign that quite randomly and humorously said "Equal Rights for Robots." For some reason he was arrested minutes later. He may or may not have had the appropriate permit, but this seems a little insane, especially given the fact that these non-students were practicing hate speech, while a student was holding up a funny sign. Here's a link:http://www.basementcoder.com/?p=23But all of that bullcrap aside, the reason I came to you is because I figured everyone here likes robots, right? Well, I think we should take a stand, and SUPPORT EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ROBOTS too!!!https://static.instructables.com/deriv/FH6/5K3R/F03WEWYE/FH65K3RF03WEWYE.MEDIUM.jpgThink of the Robot Children!

Elta 8915 equalizer wiring diagram

Hi guys, I'm having a problem with Elta 8915 equalizer and I need help. When I hook it up on a radio and turn the power on, the lights on equalizer are on but not a single sound from it. When turned off the speakers are having a good quality tone from the radio and I can use fader on the equalizer. So, I either don't hook it up properly or it is broken. All the contacts seem fine to me. I do not have wiring diagram, and I've tried my best to do the proper wiring (there was no smoke so I guess I did a good job, haha). Is there any suggestion or the wiring diagram?

does thrust equal weight lift capabilities?

Ok, so I am interested in building a 1 person quadcopter, kinda like a quadcopter/street bike if that makes any sense. i have a found a motor/prop combo that produces 170lbs of thrust that only ways 54lbs. simple math says that there should be a spare 116lbs that can be used per motor. but this is where I feel like I am missing something simple.   my math says that with four of these motors it should be able to lift 464lbs -200lbs person = 264lbs so a 200lbs vehicle body including all the computers, chassis, wires... should be within reason with a spare 64lbs of thrust remaining. plz let me know where i feel like i have gone wrong. i can provide better specs of the motor prop combo if that would help clarify my question. i can also provide a 3d mockup of what i have planned if that would also help clarify. thank you

Can I make a light organ with a graphic equalizer?

I have a Fisher CA-39 amplifier with an integrated graphic equalizer. I want to make a light organ and instead of starting from scratch I thought maybe I could use this graphic equalizer I already have. I know that the equalizer splits the audio into 5 frequency ranges and then allows you to adjust each one individually, So I guess my question is can you hijack the broken up signal before it reconstitutes it into a single output and then put it to lights(ideally LEDs) instead of speakers?

As to the 0.99~ thing, this is really just writing the supremum (spelling might be off) of the numbers less than 1. Just think of it as taking the smallest number 'n-word' than 0 away from 1. They are not identical for if they were we would not have a continuous number line, but rather a dashed one with lots of wholes in it. I could simply argue that 0.99~8 is just as close to 0.99~9 as 0.99~ is to 1. For those who really want to understand go and look up supremum numbers and the axioms of the real number line. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So who is correct? How to make a 5 channel Vu meter (equalizer)

Hey guys, I'm planning on building a sound equalizer display aka Vu Meter, with 10 segment LED. My idea is to make a central sound system with analog I/O for 5.1, with three stereo amps DIY kits, each one for Front (LR), Back (LR) and Sub/Central. I've been using a 2.1 Logitech since my Samsung 5.1 home theater died, and its not enough.  At first, I though about buying a new 5.1 system, but my budget is not enough right now, and as I always loved to build myself, I though, why not? In resume, its a central with volume control, LED to indicate volume output, and 5 rows of 10-segment LED for graphic equalizer. I'll attach an image with the sketch of the frontal look. Its not final, but it may be enough. Now the problem: My knowledge about this sound frequency area is pretty poor. I can't figure out how to make each LED Segment for an specific hertz. I'd like to divide it into 60Hz, 230Hz, 910Hz, 3kHz and 14kHz. For material, I'm planning on using laser cutted MDF for the box and glass for the front panel, to give it a "pro" look. I may change it for acrylic in the end.  The tools I own right now are:  1x Arduino Uno R3, which I intend to use it for the prototype and tests. 1x Arduino Mini, I'd rather use this one instead of an non-writtable CI for final project, as I may want to change codes and add stuff to it later. 5x 10-Segment LED Bar 5x Lm3914 I'd like to get to know how to divide and convert the frequencies of the sound into graphic, tips about the code for arduino and material list and mounting guide for each segment... Thanks a lot, I'm sorry for the long text, but I could not figure out how to explain it in other way. And again, thanks!

Random raising and lowering led bars like a graphic equalizer??

Hello! I'm interested in doing a project which would just involve having a series of mounted LED bars, probably between 8 and 12 LEDs per bar, which would light up to random heights from low (bottom) to high (top) repeatedly. I want to create the effect of a graphic equalizer on a larger scale, as a kind of wall decoration. No different colored lights or anything required, I'm just planning to use white lights and colored gels.  http://i.imgur.com/QoPlA9b.gif I am primarily an artist, and have only done minimal work with small electronics, and I've never really created a circuit board, so I'm really not too familiar with the terminology and the ins and outs therein. I've found certain articles about blinking lights and oscillating lights, but nothing quite like what I am looking for *Unless I've missed it, in which case I apologize) Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

How to make a bar spectrum analyzer (or graphic equalizer) from a dresser? Answered

I have an Ikea dresser with smoked glass panels recessed in the front of each drawer, and there are six identical drawers stacked on top of each other (www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40129591). I was looking at it the other day, and thought, "Hey, why not try to make it into an EQ?" I'd like to have it driven either by a line level signal (in which case, I'd still want to be able to pull the signal out the other side, unchanged) or by a microphone/pickup of some kind.  So my questions are:  What would be the simplest way to make the controller to drive the EQ bar lights? Is it feasible to use incandescent light bulbs to light the glass, or would it be difficult/impossible to sync them precisely to music?

Does 1.01 grams of hydrogen have a mass equal to 12 grams of carbon?

Hydrogen has a molar mass of 1.01g/mol . A mole is defined as the amount of substance that contains as many entities as exactly 12g of carbon-12. Carbon has a molar mass of 12.01 g/mol. Also: In my textbook it states that "1.01 grams of hydrogen contain 6.02214199 X 10^23 atoms of hydrogen." Does this mean that 12 grams of carbon contain 6.02214199 X 10^23 atoms of carbon?

How would I join 3 pieces of wood, perpendicularly, with equal strength, *please*? Answered

Hello, Thanks for stopping by. I've looked on the woodworking fora and I cannot see anywhere where they show how to join 3 equally-sized pieces of wood, perpendicular (right-angles) to each other. I have to make a skeletal wood frame, about 1m3 (1m each side). At each corner 3 pieces of wood will meet. I would like to join these in such a way that is easy carpentry-wise and which gives equal strength to each 'arm'. Each piece of wood is 25mm x 25mm x 1000mm long. Ideally I would like to allow for maximum face-to-face grain rather than butt/dowel-joints - otherwise the job would be simple, but too weak for my needs. Normally in woodwork such weak joints would be supported by sheets of wood or shelves to lend strength, but in this case I can only have a skeletal frame and all the strength is in the joints (approx 15 kg). Thanks.

How can I develope a program as I explain below? I don't know where to start. By the way, I know C language. Is there any helpful resource about this subject? Thanks. For example, there is a live number generator between 1-15 as image. This images changes every 10 seconds. Program should catch the image everytime as digit number. By the way, there is 3 integer variable as a,b and c: If the number between 1-5, then variables b and c should increment by 1 and 'a' should be equal to 0. If the number between 6-10, then variables a and c should increment by 1 and b should be equal to 0. If the number between 11-15, then variables a and b should increment by 1 and c should be equal to 0. If a,b or c is equal to 13, then program should send an SMS to phone as for example 'a is 13.

How many strands of 17 gauge wire twisted equal a 12 gauge wire (approx)

Hi,  I need a 12 gauge wire for the positive side of a small perimeter electric fence. However the only size aluminum wire they sell locally and I bought was 17 gauge wire. My thought is to twist the entire length of two or more strands of the 17 gauge wire together to equal the 12 gauge wire (approx)  How many strands of 17 gauge will it take to do so? One more related question while I'm at it. Does the twist have to be a tight twist or can it be a loose twist? Tight meaning a lot of twists per foot, loose meaning something like 4-6 twists per foot. tia - chase -

Is impedance and resistance the same thing in a simple resistor? Answered

Thinking of just this case using an AC current with a frequency of 1k Hz, thru a simple non-inductive resistor. Is the impedance of the resistor the same thing as the resistance measured using DC?  Is it equal to the resistance in value or different altogether? (sentence edited to change inductance to impedance) I think it's the same thing and so equal in value.  Or maybe I've still got a bunch of reading to do.
