I am going to be filming an action film soon and I need to some explosives to use in some shots. Anybody know how to make some? I can get pottasum and all that stuff I just don't know how to make it. I also need an electric fuse so it can be set off manually not by having to wait. So if any one knows how to make that too.  I was going to use black powder but wondered if there is a better way. It will be covered with dirt to make a dirt explosion not all fiery. 

What type of explosives do u wanna see next?

I am looking for ideas for an explosion for water bottles or soda bottles.I am not looking for: coke and mentoes sugarcubes and vault vinegar and baking soda My version of an exploding bottle is chucking one up in the air an watching it blow up when it hits the ground. I know that by adding ammonium nitrate and water the compound gets cold. so my question is by using ammonium nitrate and other then water can I use to make extream pressure build up in a short time while still being cold. this question is not for any explosive device to cause harm to anyone or thing. just wondering if a cold explosive could be possiable. thank you

While this may not be the best instructable I believe it would be helpful for many people doing science fairs (ie: ME). So here is the question said instructable would answer: How do you measure the force of an explosion, specifically of gases or liquids used in fuels? I have been racking my brain on this but everything i have come up with seems like it would be inaccurate. Thanks for any help

Let me start this question/thread by saying I live in the middle of the boondocks and have no worries of any legal repercussions for my actions. Regardless, I am lazy, and am looking for an easy way to make an underwater explosive for fishing purposes. If anyone could tell me how, it would be well appreciated. I just want to blow the fish out the water, then row around in my boat, and pick them up.

I suggest an 'ible about USA laws and case law regarding the production and use of explosives. there are always comments about this in the explosive 'ible 's and it would be great to clear some of it up.

Does anyone know of any under the sink materials to make small explosives out of. I have looked on the internet and found kn03 and all that stuff and stump remover and stuff but I can't get that now. I am looking for an answer like, Mix some alcohol with bleach, put it on a towel to dry. Then mix it with (fill in blank) and let it dry again. The cut the towel and it is explosive powder.  I know that recipe is fake but that is the kind of thing I am looking for. I am not going to hurt somebody. I am just interested in pyro stuff and have been trying a few things but it is kind of hard to do it right. Please help! 

I am a chemistry teacher and I need to make a set of explosions for the football team to run through. The run on the field and the explosions go off on each side of them Any ideas. I may fill a dozen metal coated baloons with hydrogen and, and ignite them with some sort of electric spark strong enough to pepetrate the baloon. I'll put six of them on each side of the path that the team runs out through under the goal post. And how will I make the system to spark them off (electric plug in?)(capacitors, tesla coils, etc.?) thanks

I was wondering if there i such a thing as a nitroglycerin based blasting cap with no other HE (high explosives ) or primary explosives. products of nitroglycerin would be acceptable but as far as i know it only form more HE's so if this is possible please let me know

Hey, dose anyone know how to do a Hollywood style explosion. Sort of like the ones in Monty Python and the Holy Grail where there is a large fireball. I have heard of taking a plastic soda bottles and filling them with gas, but I was not very fond of this idea.

I have a few questions to the officials here in regards to supplying information to be used for illegal activities. With anything from byuning over posessing to making explosives considered to be illegal and punishable by law in most modern countires I was wondering how the official point of view is on these topics? Freedom of information and so on is all good and fun but I think at some point there should be a limit. With the potential to harm or even kill people following instructions in relation to explosives I simply think topic for the help on making explosives should not be tolerated here. This only my personal opionion of course and maybe it wrong but I think supporting illegal and unlawful activities is not really necessary for a cummunity forum...

I am working on a mini-cannon based project. The cannon has a chamber with interior volume of 15.2 cubic inches. For propellant I am using rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) that is electronically ignited. The barrel on this gun is about 2 feet of 6mm tubing, designed to shoot Airsoft BBs. I was wondering if anyone knows what the ideal amount of rubbing alcohol to use was (I am using 70% alcohol now, but i can get at least 90% at the store). I could also possibly use butane or propane, if that is better. I went on the internet and looked up the stoichiometric ratio for isopropyl alcohol, but that just told me "1mol fuel to 4.5 mol oxygen at 100 percent concentration." I am not mathematically or scientifically capable of turning that bit of info into a usable amount.

Im trying to test how many pounds per square inch (psi) i can get out of axe body spray when i light it on fire. I was thinking a piston thing, but i dont really know how it should be

Its a PVC/ABS thing that works like a spud gun, but launches a powder cloud (and potentially BB's). It's remote-triggered, so it can be buried underground, and only the top has to be removed, so it can be permanent. It works in the same way as a spud gun. I'll try to get diagrams up tomorrow, and if I can build it, pictures and an instructable, of course.

I am kind of new to this whole instructables web page and i was wondering if i was allowed to post about how to make explosives, fireworks, and things of that nature. I'm making charcoal for BP using macadamia wood in a tin on a BBQ fire. The smoke is PISSING out the 1/4" hole i made in the lid but won't ignite. Any ideas/suggestions welcome.

Every time I use flash powder from firecrackers to try to make a big one all it does is burn up. No matter how hard I try to compress the flash powder all it does is burn up when it is supposed to blow up. Any tips?

Okay, so I have decided not to do this,but I'm just curious if anyone has done somthing simmilar to this? The design is very,very,VERY, simple,basically it is just two oxygen cylinders and two MAPP cylinders bound together with duct tape. There is an explosive device in the center (C4 or a steel pipe with blackpowder?). When the explosive device goes off, its force raptures each of the cylinders. The MAPP(fuel source, duh!) mixes with oxygen(oxidiser obviously) and heat (from the explosive device) to create one massive explosion. I'm not really going to do this, but just curious about what would happen if I did. Would it work, or is there a fault in this design? BTW- If you did or are going to try this out, please, post a video. Oh yea, and do it in the middle of nowhere where no one could get hurt,and make sure you are safe as well.

I'm a pyro myself and I was wondering if anybody who has seen crash course on abc, knows how they do the explosions whenever they crash through something (like when they flip over and see who can slide on their roofs for the longest or smash through a brick wall?) and it explodes in this big fiery explosion .... just mostly how it works.

I want to do a popsicle stick explosion (linked "bombs") with teenagers I work with but I can't find a pattern for the "units" that make long explosions. ? I've been loving the Stick bomb videos online and we have thousands of spare "craft sticks" to use in our afterschool programs.  Also, exciting words other than "bomb" and "explosion" to describe the chain reaction would be helpful.

This video from Johnny Cupcakes features a steampunked pneumatic cannon firing cupcakes and test subjects in lab coats. The cannon looks awesome and the footage is shot at 700 frames a second for some nice slo-mo. It just goes to show that slo-mo explosions of pretty much anything are always fun. But if you do make such a video, please include more slo-mo explosions than people cowering in fear from cupcakes. Explosion at :57 is pretty solid, but the rest is mostly a tease. via gizmodo
