I frequently upload images that look right to me, but that are rotated on instructables. Is it possible either for )instructables to recognize exif information or )for instructables to implement a rotate-r? muchos gracias! *

Sorry for a new thread, but I was not able (allowed?) to add comments to any of the existing threads. I pushed the buttons but nothing happened. Anyway, here's the deal. I've seen several comments that the original plan to only show "secondary images" to pro accounts has been reversed, and that now all accounts will be able to view all images. I guess that depends on your definition of "view". Currently I can only view thumbnails of ANY images -- I have no idea what you mean by "secondary" images. Even instructables I looked at two days ago now have no large (useful) images. What gives? It's bad enough that I no longer can save the PDFs, but this make the whole site worthless. I'm ready to drop my membership and stop being a fan on facebook, because as of yesterday your posts and emails are spam to me.

For some reason whenever i go into an instructable the pictures arnt working can anyone help/explain that?

I have made an image on microsoft word to use as the image for my profile, when i update it shows a link and not my image. what am i doing wrong? and how can i upload my image?

Just today, I am no longer able to see images in pdf versions of the instructable, the images are still there for individual viewing though!

When you post a comment and you choose images from your library, is it possible to get images from the internet or do you have do upload from your computer?

I can add and edit image notes in the editor but they don't show up in the published Instructable. I'm running Chrome.

Last night there was a bad image bug.. every image said it Wasn't Found. It is OK now, but kiteman said other where having the problem, and they still might. I don't get it... not found?

When I click the PDF link on an Instructable, the resulting file doesn't seem to contain any of the associated images.

When I created this instructable https://www.instructables.com/id/The-Highway-Paracord-Bracelet/, I used the first image(of this question) as the main image. I have a better image now and would like to change it. I tried changing it, but it only shows it from inside the instructable. It doesn't show it from the search. Please help! Thanks

I have found a little bug that is very frustrating to me. The issue is with trying to see the image notes from an instructable. I have noticed that when you hold your cursor over an image, a box comes up that has the name of the step that the picture is on. The problem is that this box covers up the image note that I’m trying to read. I have to move the cursor off of the picture and then hold the cursor on a part of the image that does not have any notes until the box shows up, then go to a image note to read.  Fixing this issue will be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to upload a video and everytime I do it tells me that I do not have a main image. I have a profile picture but don't know what else that would mean?

When I make an instructable I can never make those yellow note-boxes that appear on images. I drag my mouse on the image like you should (yea I'm using the correct image...) but it just gives me a little circle with slash through it symbol as my mouse. is this a firefox problem?

I was wondering if someone can tell me how create image maps. I noticed that some of the instructables have images with rectangular areas, which one can click on to get more information. I want to know, how to do it. Thanks so much.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm noticing their is a LOT of people with no profile image. I would love to find and/or make a profile image for somebody who needs one or wants a different one. I'll go as far to design it from scratch, or you can just have me put your username on it, or if your lazy I can just find a really neat one on the internet for you. If you want me to design one for you but don't have specific specifications for how you want it, you can simply leave a comment telling me some of your interests, and I'll try to find one that will represent you well. My JPEGimages keep changing to GIFimages after I have Uploaded them. HELP!!!!!

Does anybody know where i can get highly detailed satellite images? Higher than google. Google has this thing that you can pay $20 to get better quality, but to me that seems like a rip off. Anyone know any places to get better pictures? Thanks

To whom this may concern, an administrator or another customer/user of this site, I have a free account, and i know that i can't do things like download pdf's, though i didn't have a problem going through each page and read online, though now, i'm unable to see the multiple images concerning each section of instruction pertaining to the demonstration of the instructions, My questions is: has the free account been demoted by taking away the image viewing privileges?

Can anyone direct me to a resource on how I might be able to embed images in the text portion of an instructable instead of the standard way of just attaching them to a step by dragging amd dropping to the top of each step? I'd very interested in how the great mikeasaurus has been doing his Instructables recently. I'm trying to do an Instructable with Excel, but whenever I upload screenshots into Flickr or just directly to the instructable, the full preview makes them all fuzzy and small. How do I enlarge the picture so people can actually see them? I've tried Photoshop to enlarge them, but it didn't help, and I am not a Pro Member, is that why? Thanks!

(sunday june 13, 2010. 23:46 pst) just happened to notice that if you update your profile picture it removes all previous viewable pictures (shown as thumbnails under your main profile pic) and replaces it with the most current selected. not sure if this is intended. I kind of liked seeing older pictures, but can see how this way is cleaner too.

I'm trying to inspect the deformation of small crystal chatons by image inspection, and I'm trying hard to minimize the reflections of light done by the geometrical shape of the crystal. I tried so many different ways and techniques, and i was wondering does the IR imaging do any help for this problem..?!

Is there a way to add images to the 'ables from image library

Image annotations are being lost either by being below or beyond the edge if the image they relate to. This has only happened since the new image display system was implemented. The old image system allowed annotations to run below and of the side of an image, where as the new one crops the text to fit only over the image. The old image annotation system also wrapped the text after a number of characters, where as the new system allows text to run on indefinably  Users can manually insert line breaks in the annotations with the new system (not possible with the old system), however for old instructables this introduces the problem of annotations running off the image and being unreadable. This appears to be on every instructable, providing there are annotations on the images, and the annotations are long enough, or positioned such that they run past the edge, or bottom of the image. An example of this is: https://www.instructables.com/id/Cat-enclosure-with-high-cat-walktunnel-utilizes-/ On this instructable there are examples of both running of the edge of an image, and falling off the bottom. It also shows an exception to the problem, the first image allows the annotation to go beyond the boundary of the image, but all subsequent images have the issue.

Does Instructables compress images once uploaded? What is the recommended file size so as to avoid compression of the image?

I am going to be entering one of the competitions and would like to know how I add text to describe the image? I can see you can place a text box onto the image but will that be on the image once published? How do people get the text to read below the image? Thanks for the help.

Dear Instructables Authors, Does anyone find the current trend of putting the title of an ible in the primary image as visually offending as I do? The format of the site puts the title right below the image in a concise and legible manner that doesn't interfere with the image of the project. Lately I am seeing a new flaw in images notes: they are duplicate. Often the problem is not relevant, but sometimes it avoid I see some images, as you can see in the attached image. I use Firefox 13.0.1 under Windows 7 Home Basic, at a Lenovo laptop, 2 Gb RAM.

Hello, for the last couple of days images are not displaying when I'm on the instructable site. When I navagate down to the individual instructables the images are fine but no images display on the summary pages. I've tried Firefox and Safari on my Mac but both act the same way. I'm going to try from a PC and see if that works. This is annoying to say the least. \

When visiting a Instructable, (Ex. below), the images at the bottom won't change when clicking on them using Opera 9.50. It happens with any instructable, not just the one below.

In my Quik Shawl (Chop) Stick the thumbnail image is incorrect.  I deleted that image from my library on Jan 5, 2014; before publishing the instructable today.  I had made many versions since I deleted the current Thumbnail image.  Yet it is appearing as the thumbnail.  I do not want that image as the first image seen.  The cover image should be the Thumbnail image. I am using Window XP. Firefox ESR 24.2.0 I just remembered during the editing of the instructable I clicked the Try The New Editor! button.  After I finished making edits and closed the instructable then went back in for edits I was no longer using the new editor.  Thank you in-advance for your help.

It looks like image uploads are broken for me, is anyone else having problems? when i attempt to upload a new image it doesn't show up in my library, an old image (previously uploaded) is put in the preview area instead of the new one although it reports that the upload was successful.

Is something wrong with the image upload?  I've tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer; it lets me select the images I want to post, but then when I click "Upload Files," nothing happens.  No errors, no warnings, no progress bar, and obviously no image uploads, just sits there. Hello everyone, I wanted for a while to make an image so that I can project but don't really know how to do it until recently I got this small like flashlight that actually projects an image.  Does anyone knows how to do it and the parts needed to build it. thanks

When I am on a instructable and try to view all the photos but it dose not work...I click on the mini image but nothing happens! I am using Firefox and some other people are experiencing the same problem!
