So what is a JVC KT-HD300?

I just got a new JVC HD radio but the HD channels keep going in and out. I have spoken to a few radio people and the only way to fix this is to buy, “JVC KT-HD300” but I feel like that’s just an antenna amplifier. So what is “JVC KT-HD300.”

Is this bridgable?

I've got the amp of a jvc mini componant stereo that came with these gigatube speakers which where 3 way enclosures with a subwoofer in each. This amp would probably work better for my subwoofer I have now but I wanted to know if it is in any way possible to bridge the sub outputs of the amp so I can have a more powerful single channel.

Old JVC Boom Box (Antique?)

Hey guys, upon my travels the other day, I stumbled upon an electornics bin or two and one of them happened to have a few "ghetto blasters" or boom boxes as other people would call em. I should really get some better pictures, but these will have to do. I brought it home expecting it NOT to work at all, as usual. It DOES work but in a somewhat limited way. I brought it home upon the conclusion that it felt rather solidly build for such a small system and it looked the nicest out of all of them. The "Problems" sort of speak: * Well for one, the left channel doesn't work, but BOTH the speakers DO work. They both have battery compartments (6 C cells each speaker in series = 9v-ish?) and they both have "extension" cables so you can unhook the speakers and place them elsewhere, the wires are 4 strand ribbon cables and the power is also transported down these wires. I find it rather retarded, because at full length, these wires are a foot long at best?! I managed to get around this debacle for now and plugged the extension wire of the left speaker, into the plug for the right speaker, powering both speakers off one channel. This works half decent, but it doesn't go as loud as one speaker would go, and it gets distorted easier at high volumes. * The tape deck doesn't work. I hit the play button and it DOES indeed make a whirring sound, so my guess is that it needs a new rubber belt for the motor, and I have no idea where to get something that small. Did I mention that apparently the tape deck, actually comes OUT of the stereo, and theres a compartment for a set of AA batteries, thus turning it into a shiny silver 80's walkman. I'm ultimately dumfounded.. * The switches on the top of the unit, primarily the two buttons that change the "fuction" or input of the boom box, are crapping out really bad, like if I set it to radio, I have to raise one switch, and push one down, but it sometimes doesn't work, or it crackles really bad, or isn't as LOUD as it should be, but if I jiggle the switches enough, I can usually coax it into working. It's annoying at best. They are really impossible to get at and they're long pushbutton switches with a long plastic rod that pushes the switch on the board. I really doubt I can get these switches open and adjust/clean them. Should I maybe get the dremel out and but some little toggle switches? * It's missing the little faceplate for the radio selector? Oh well I can still manually tune in a radio station without knowing the number, primarily 94.5 the bull here, it's pretty hard not to miss it blaring some rock or heavy metal. I like this little unit and I wanna fix it up/tweak the crap out of it. If I could get subwoofers small enough, I would upgrade the speakers, reinforce the inside of the speaker casings with epoxy, and maybe dremel some bass ports (would that be a good idea? From what I can tell, it's a totally sealed unit, but it would probably benefit from some "bass ports"). Also, would it be beneficial to "reflow" the amp board? Like theres a board with a transformer and what appears to be a stereo transistor, but like a wide one for two channels, instead of two independant transistors for each channel. So I can only imagine if one side of the chip is working, the other side should too. Would it be a waste of time to reflow all the solder joints or no?

Camcorder won't record video?

I have recently come into possession of a HDD JVC hard disk camcorder. I got it from a friend who asked if I would fix it for him, so I told him I would ask around. Any comments are much appreciated. It works great! Except it doesn’t record video, it has great sound quality and a handful of cool features. I've already taken it to the store and was told it would be around $200 or more to get it fixed, when I asked what was wrong with it i didnt get a responce from the man at the store. If anyone has any idea what’s happening or how to fix it without spending $200 I would much appreciate it! I dont know if this will help anyone (I didnt find any use of it) but heres the model number GZ-MG30U

I have something here that needs fixing ASAP

Well I have this Gigatube stereo that I am borrowing from a family member. That site in the link isn't very descriptive, 55 watts per main channel..lol. We have the higher end model (they made different models of the gigatube series at the time of purchase, btw that pocket too).Apparently from sitting up in our attic here not being used (yes it was in it's original box however), it appears to have developed a leak in the left sub's chamber. You can hear it when you turn it up anywhere past volume 10, but if I push on the plexi-glass, it stops making a vibrating sound, and it sounds fine from there.I tried tightening up the 6 screws around the plexiglass plate, underneath the front cosmetic plate (they're actually better designed than it looks from the picture, and produce some of the cleanest notes I've heard from a stereo of it's size). Anyways, that didn't fix things, and being they screw into plastic, I did not want to over tighten anything.Just today I took the screws out and the plate literally just fell off the speaker (if I didn't explain before, the plexi-glass seals around the front, allowing you to see the sub, but it bounces the bass back up the tube and it comes out there, from the looks of it, it's a 3rd type bandpass box). It looks like JVC glued these things on with something hard and flaky like superglue or something similar. So here I am now, and I'm wondering what I should use to glue it back on so it makes a TIGHT seal, I have a squeeze tube of this Clear silicone transparent adhesive sealant, would this be suitable? I found this tube after my father handed me a tube of caulking and I told him only a fool would use caulking on a sub, especially one of these pups.Sorry for the long, long, long post as usual, but I like to try to explain everything up front so I can get a answer sooner without having to wait for replies to "what is that" or lack of specifications, whatever. There's some pictures to enjoy below, don't worry I'm not bugging you guys for nothing :P

Help identifying a transformer?

Hey I just moved my JVC JX-S700 into my new media center, and now it wont power up. Opened it up, and the transformer doesn't seem to be putting off any voltage on the output. I have approximately 1 ohm between the 3 outputs.  So I thought that was likely to be the issue, is there anything I should do to make sure that's the problem spot? Is there another fix for this besides replacing the transformer? And if I have to replace the transformer, can anyone help me identify it? Thanks Crew!

Can I Repair These Video Cameras!

I've got a Magnavox Video Escort and a JVC Compact VHS. Both cameras are dumpster finds. Neither work and I'm wondering if anyone can suggest tests/repairs or whatnot to get them to work. I realize these cameras were tossed because they don't work but sometimes things get thrown away because the owners don't want to take the time to find out WHY they don't work. The Escort is utterly inert. I haven't got a way to recharge the battery, assuming that it would if I did and an adaptor I know works has no effect on this camera. The JVC works but the view finder remains black.

How to fix a Stereo Intergraded Amplifier JVC A-X9 (Right Channel Problem)?

I need to know how to fix the right channel. I get the music trying to play out of it but, it is all distorted and scratchy( note: The distortion nor does the sound quality change due to moving any knobs or ajusting any functions-helping narrow it down-).  Left Channel works like a charm.  I have done the following to try to fix the problem.  I have blown dust out of the stereo, checked all connections where wires plug into circut board around the volume knob and nearby circut boards. Have tried wiggleing the RCA's thinking they may be wore out. They are fine as I see and therfore wiggleing makes no difference. Any help, Suggestions, and tech support would be a great deal of help right now for I would enjoy this vintage piece working again. Thank you all,  Nate. ps. dont mind the xbox on the pic its stricly the home stereo im asking about. thanks again.

What can I do with these???

Hello again, I want to bug you guys again, if you remember, I just fixed these JVC speakers as the seals were gone on the plexiglass. Now that's fixed, I've been noticing that when I play almost any song past volume 20-22 I can really notice a lot of turbulent noise from the tubes, and it's not the seals this time, they seem to be holding out. It just sounds punchy and the noise coming from the tubes kind of ruins the fact that I fixed the seals already, theres 4 screws around where the tube goes into the subwoofer chamber, but I tried taking it out, but it still wouldn't come off even though the 4 screws were removed. Does anyone have suggestions on how I could make these speakers sound better??

i have a receiver that reads at 120W is that enough to drive 2 speakers a tweeter and an external subwoofer ?

I have a receiver that reads at 120W is that enough to drive 2 speakers a tweeter and an external subwoofer the receiver says on the back 120V 120W 60Hz 170VA  so im guessing it runs at 120W per channnel at 8 ohms so would i risk blowing the amp or speakers if i plug an external subwoofer to the speakers and tweeters the recever does not have a sdubwoofer channel so would i damage anything at all with it in the channel as well by external subwoofer i mean it has its own power source its own crossover its own amp it has an rca in put or you can use the terminal plate it has as well this is the JVC RX 212

Night Vision Goggle Help. Also cable identification!

Hi Everyone, I am trying to make my own night vision headset/goggles following this kiplay's guide. I have a electric viewfinder from an old JVC GR-AX5 video camera. I have removed the viewfinder and dismantled it but I am not sure which of the 7 cables are, (i.e. ground, power, video etc). How would I identify this, and could you please go in-depth as I am not hugely experienced in electronics, but I am learning. I have enclosed pictures, if that helps, but I do apologise for the poor quality. As the picture is hard to tell, the cable colours are (not in this order); Black, white, red, redy/brown (i am unsure, i am colourblind), yellow, orangey and a pinky purply colur.  How do I identify them? On a second note, for anyone who has followed this tutorial, can you recommend a good camera to get in the UK? Many thanks, and I hope someone can come through for me, Alex

How do i connect old speakers to mobile?

Ok, so I have a very old speaker surround system (JVC MX-60). It plays only Cassets and cds which we dont use nowadays. However the speakers are huge. The clarity and sound is good enough to listen to heavy metal music. I want to connect these speakers to my mobile. But the thing is, i dont know how to . Now I am a complete noob when it comes to electronics. Based on my knowledge I need to connect these speakers to an amplifier . To do that i need to know the wattage. And I dont Know how to find out. I was going through the main unit(which is destroyed) and it mentioned that the speaker impedance is 6 ohms. Wattage is product of voltage and current. How do I find that? Multimeter perhaps? here is a few things that I want to mention -The speakers have two wires(black and red). Nothing is mentioned on the speakers regarding its power. voltage etC. - I dont have the manual. The device must be older than me. - i have uploaded the pics of the back side of the main unit http://imgur.com/qNBKWst Thanks!!
