There's a steampunk egg containing a pendant on ebay.Nice little item, and part of the proceeds go to charity, so I don't feel spammy advertising it.

Https://www.instructables.com/id/April-Fool-the-Talking-Music-Box-or-whatever/Not that this is newsworthy, it has become the norm, but I AM going to publish my IBLE when it is finished. It is a bit complex....and the Audio amp has a bug I must work out of it, garbling the voice over, but if that fails, I will just use the "remote method".....now that I have piqued everyone's curiousity......I will get back to working on the project :-) I have published it, here..........:

So, as we all know, the day that Marty McFly travels to in 2015 is fast approaching (October 21). As a big BTTF fan, I put together an entire Marty McFly costume complete with holographic hat, Nike Air Mags, and jacket. A couple of days ago I posted an Instructable on how to make the jacket, but now it seems I am ineligible to enter the Back to the Future contest that just opened today. (I didn't even know about it because it wasn't on the upcoming contests forum post or the contest page of the app) Obviously, I'm pretty bummed and honestly it seems kind of late for the contest to start only two weeks from the day that people are going to want to have a bunch of BTTF props and costume pieces put together, don't you think? I actually rushed to get my tutorial finished because I wanted to be sure that others in the community would have enough time to follow it and make their own. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a way I could still enter. I would just post a new, improved Instructable for the same thing, but I don't want to feel like I'm spamming or have my featured percentage to go down. =\

So, I've had a crush on this girl for about 2 months now and I love the hell out of her but have never had the guts to tell her how I feel. I'm now on holiday and i've just heard shes got together with one of my best mates from my friend who knew my feelings about her, to be honest I feel like I've been run over by a brick wall and feel so upset and regretting not telling her how I felt.. I still love her so much but no idea what to do now as I was planning on telling her after I get back from my holidays... whaat do I do?

Am i supposed to wait for the package for six months or what? I won an Instructables Prize Pack in Pocket-Sized Contest! ( https://www.instructables.com/contest/pocketsize/ ) as a runner up prize. So why isn't it here yet? I asked once already about this delay, on forum i think, and they told me that it's because there are many prizes that are holding the sending back. So it's been six months, it should have arrived already, could still be the delay.

Is anybody planning any cool solar experiments/projects around the house this year? I want to make a solar water heater; picked up two nice large double-paned sliding glass doors at spring clean-up this year. That's all I have for now; I still need pipes, valves, and extras. I'm definately taking pictures for an Instructable.

1-3 H&K; MP5A5. Got the mag, and barrel done. The mag is removable, and holds 18 dark grey connectors. 4 Organizing my K'nex! (that's merely half of it, sadly) 5-8 K'nex coaster with tube supports, I'm guessing it'll be done in about a month. 9-10 K'nex fan, it goes super fast. (The blades are temporary) 11-22 Noreastern (super big storm, google it) came! About 2-3 feet of water in the back road, fuddled basements, fallen trees, and more! I had a video, but Ilost it. If I find it, I'll put it on Youtubw.

I'm looking to buy my step mum a laptop for her birthday, but I have no idea what to get her... I'm looking for something light wieght and portable but still have enough space for games, or shows, or movies she might want to download. Also it has to be able to have a CD/ Game part (see I really don't know about laptops.... and computers) and good keyboard. I don't know what else she would like, but if there are any good laptops on the market right now with those things please tell me... Oh and also I'm kinda on a buget so no more than 500 hundred dollars, and if you do know the price that would help a LOT, thanks ;)

The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.(John Adams)Well, happy late birthday, Younglings.

This is a short SHORT bit of what I've been planning, and doing of late. The VERY short video shows my young student repeating the "experiment" we've just executed together, but now for the rest of her family. It is a demonstration that #1: milk has fat/oils in it, and #2 that detergent breaks these up, and #3: that it does so rather rapidly. By the time I got the camera ready, she'd already poured a little milk into a saucer, and dropped some different colors of food coloring on the surface tension of the milk. The video only shows the reaction once she drops the detergent onto the coloring (and if you have the volume up, you can hear her little sister in the background go OOOOOO :-) . My apologies for the very VERY poor quality of the shot, next time I will prepare ahead of time, with my tripod, for any filming I need to do.

This is one of the coolest environmental action websites I have seen. So help keep our air clean and the EPA in check by signing the petition. http://www.adoptthesky.org/From treehugger.com:The website encourages people to "adopt the sky" by signing a petition that assigns them to a virtual square-mile of sky over one of many dirty areas in the country. The interface screen resembles a foggy sky with little floating air molecules representing the names, home and adopted state locations and messages of users who've signed onto the petition.Read the full article here:http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/07/adopt_the_sky.php

This just turned up in my email:***www.NewScientist.com - NEWSFLASH*** On the 28 June, The Science Education Act was passed as law in the State of Louisiana. This piece of legislature now allows teachers in this US state to present non-scientific alternatives to evolution, global warming and cloning – including ideas related to intelligent design. Opponents fear that Louisiana teachers are now free to present evolution and other targeted topics as matters of debate rather than broadly accepted science, and could have national implications. A Day Late and a Dollar Short. Here is the inaugural episode of the Instructables Podcast: How Do I? We received a lot of what we referred to as housekeeping questions that we felt we should just take care of straight away to get them out in the open. We hope those lay out more clearly what we're doing, and what we're hoping for. We had a two technical glitches where Jake's mic was cutting him off in case you're curious why there's some weird buzzing/cut noises mid way into the file. The two questions we received dealt with adding smoke or sparks to toys and creating vehicles that are powered by the wind. A few references from this episode: Make your own hackerspace/makerspace: http://makeamakerspace.wordpress.com/ http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/ http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2012/11/12/how-to-start-a-hackerspace/ Pope Smoke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf0gCterxVo Sailing Lingo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacking_(sailing) Jake and I both had songs we thought would be fun to have as an intro or outro and in the end I just made the decision to use a loop from Garageband (as it was on my computer). It's free, no one is going to get angry, and if something else comes up in the future, we can always update. We're incredibly unprofessional, as you'll gather from our introductions and closings. We might get better at that as we go along, but I don't expect that's going to happen. As it happens, I absolutely love our opening/closing remarks, but that might just be me. You can listen to or download the episode below, listen over at archive.org or check it out at our homepage: download For next weeks episode: If you have any questions (or feedback) you'd like us to field in next weeks podcast, please leave them in the comments below or PM me and we'll do our best to include it!

So I have a 95 chevy C-1500 5.7 V8, Been having some progressively worse problems with it running rough and hesitating when accelerating. I will be re-timing it soon but that is a separate issue for the moment, When I tested the ignition system I noticed the spark tester was glowing orange/red instead of blue. (I can't even get my timing light to fire) It was due for new plugs and wires so I replaced both. The Ignition coil is less then a year old and I just finished replacing the Rotor and distributor cap. Still have an orange spark. I really need to fix this before I can time it, Any Ideas?

Well, I was trying to remind myself to post a topic about the one year anniversary of the -ibles chatroom, and, I just remembered, a little late..March 9th of last year, the Instructables Robot published a forum topic, debuting the new chatroom for the website. It was a great hit with the community, and made the interaction with other members more 'fun', for lack of a better term. Although, a few of us know that it kinda went downhill for a while, so bad infact, that Moderators were assigned, and rules were set. Since then, we've had a few mix-ups, and whoopses..Anyway, how about an anniversary party for the chatroom?Any ideas?Could we establish a date for such an occasion?Regular Chatroom LinkThe Uber Chatroom LinkI pardon myself for forgetting to remember the date sooner.. :/

I was wondering if anyone else was like me in the sense that they stay up late and do everything that night. Most nights im up past 1 or 2 am, and wake up around 7 or 7 30, I also do all my homework or work on projects at late night early morning too. And the best part is staying out until dawn which I also love... Is anyone else like that?

Hello, I came up with this idea the other day as I am new to long distance commuting on public transport and the winter season is upon us in the UK. I hope this is posted in the right section. I've loitered on instructables for a number of years but have never ventured into the forums. Basically I get up in the morning with enough time for my normal morning routine and then leave the house by car to catch a train that runs every hour from my local train station. The three main factors that effect me getting on the train to work. 1) Waking up on time, 2) the train actually running (it has been cancelled twice in the past 3 weeks) and 3) getting to the station on time. As I see it there are three variables to the situation. The time to get up in order to catch the train if it is running - 1) more or less fixed but this could vary day by day, i.e. some days need to put bins out or perhaps take something extra which requires preparation. 2) The extra time taken in clearing ice from the car and driving more slowly to the station because of ice and snow - perhaps this needs to be variable too. i.e. frost does not have an impact on driving conditions as much as deep snow. 3) Is the train running or late? If it's not running then get an extra hour in bed - for me I commute up to 5 hours a day so extra rack time is a bonus. Basic Requirements I think the clock should monitor outside temperature at least or get that information from the internet, in which case get more detailed data The clock should be relatively accurate, again we could use the internet for NTP or use a radio synced signal The clock needs to be aware which train I take The clock needs to know I don't go to work some days The clock should need minimal user intervention to complete it's tasks The clock should be mains powered with battery backup The clock should be able to dim it's display at night but be viewable in bright interior room conditions - i.e. we don't need it readable in bright sunshine. The clock shouldn't be too expensive to make. Specifically I have been thinking of using a spark.io and 4 8x8 displays as I happen to have these. Thinking about this for only a short time I guess the clock would be more easily programmed via the web and in fact probably pull it's data from the internet. Cycling power could be the basis to fetch new configuration so not user buttons should be required. We would need to find services to get train information and very local weather information. A service or server would need to be setup where the unit could check in. Perhaps it would be simpler if this was the proxy for the train and weather information. That's it for now. I wanted to get my ideas in writing whilst throwing it out there for someone else to think about. My thoughts are if you want to keep an idea to yourself then don't tell anyone - please feel free to do what you may with the information in this post. Cheers, Al

Hey Gang, I thought I would share an idea with you guy. Lately when I hear about a contest, it is usually way to late to do anything about it. SO I went to the contest page to look at the and noted that there is no real organization to them. They are all in a vertical line down the p[age but their dates don't correlate to their position at all. At the very least, please fix this. Also, can you make them into an ICS as well as put them on a publicly shared Google Calendar? I really need notifications on this kind of thing! Thanks!@ DragonDon

Closing in on midnight on October 30th, and I found myself in a familiar situation . . .Making last-minute Halloween costumes and props for my kids! Here's a photo of my late-night kitchen table, where I was working on a homemade hover board prop from the "Back to the Future" movies. I paused for a moment to survey the scene and snap a photo, and couldn't help taking note of the silliness of the whole thing. It's midnight. I'm tired. My kids are asleep. And I'm up making this thing. WHY?Why do we do this to ourselves?! - - - - - -I know why I do it, but tell me why you do!Were you up late making stuff for yourself or for your kids? Share your reasoning and thoughts on being a creative Halloweener in the comments below. Be sure to include a photo or two of what you were making!
