Hello. Here is a stupid question from a stupid newbie. Does anyone know where I can find step-by-step instructions on how to load bullets into a Tikka T3 rifle with a box-style .22-250 magazine, preferably with illustrations? It has been many years since I have used a rifle and I have never used a rifle with a magazine, always using single rounds. Thanks for the help!

So I've been trying to build again. I had an entirely different project in mind but I noticed that the teeth of gears fit into the grooves of rods. I was experimenting with it quick to see if a gear would make a decent pin lock (it doesn't). I kept toying with it until I went off on this entirely random tangent without planning on it, hence the mismatched colors for the one slot connectors.  Anyway, this is a rotary magazine. Similar to a drum magazine, it's just a magazine in cylindrical form factor rather than a linear form factor. I'm not sure if anyone was able to successfully make one before. This version in particular stores 12 usable blue rods and one extra one that can't be fired. It has a ball joint connector to act as a paddle to help ensure the rods continue feeding without skipping teeth. I don't have many dark grey connectors but otherwise I'd scale this up using red rods and then store yellow rods. It'd be more useful as it'd fit more nicely with a connector body. Currently to maximize ammo use, I'm trying to fire directly from the magazine without feeding it further vertically. The problem is it's obviously an awkward fit. If you imagine a typical 5 layer gun, it'd fit in between layers 1-2 and 4-5 about halfway each. It's entirely doable, but just doesn't look too pretty.   It's nice in that it allows you to store a fair amount of ammo in a relatively compact amount of space, but it's otherwise not a practical storage solution as is. Aside from just trying to figure out how to attach it to a gun, figuring out how to reload it conveniently would be difficult. It -might- be more useful if it can be turned into a roofed, removable magazine. Then at least you can preload them first.  I hope someone can give a weapon that uses this a shot. Perhaps a bolt action for better performance. And again, I'd scale it up to store yellow rods so it's a little easier to use in a standard connector body.  Here's a quick video demonstration and a look inside it at the end:

When I build a magazine for a gun I always ask my self, will there ever be a magazine that can be replacaple like on HALO 3 on the BR(Battle Rifle) when you reload you take out the ammo and replace a new stock for faster reloading? Has anybody made something like this and is this even possible? Thanks (Message me about anything like this)

Are there any magazines, besides maybe "ReadyMade" that are similar to 'instructables'?  Love the website, but I also like DIY type magazines, and 'ReadyMade' is the closest thing I can find.  Any ideas would be appreciated!  Thank you!

I need to know how much rounds a mag needs to hold in a knex war.  I would like to make a decent semi auto assault rifle that is warworthy. (As in one that will have acceptable range in CQC and insane ROF) Your opinions are welcome.

On thing that makes any K'NEX gun replica more accurate is the magazine. Trust me, if your magazine is to big or to small, it will make the whole gun look bad. As this is the case, I decided to "clear up" the small argument about the size of 5.56 NATO magazines, as some people are incorrect on the size of K'NEX magazine that they use. As you see in the pictures below, TD's magazine (yellow connecter - white rod - yellow connecter) is more accurate than the other type (white connecter - green rod - white connecter). The latter version (white connecter - green rod - white connecter) is quite a few centimeters too long, and is more accurate for some 7.62x51 replica K'NEX guns. Hello. i was opening my longshot magazine tooo see how it worked and to deside iff i shoud mod it or not. well i unscrewwwed the ..well... screws and then the pusher spring popped ouut and i dont want to open the mag all the way because i dont wanbt to break it. does anyboody know how to openitt without breaking it? please respond because i dont want to only have 1 mag cartuner55 ps sorry for any mispellings i am typing this on my Wii

I've read somewhere that you can use magazines for etching PCB's. now, that seems perfect (if it works) becouse of the reuse, its cheap, and it works :D but, 2 questions came to me: first, wouldnt the ink already in the magazines (text, pictures, etc) mess up the toner transfer? and how about the size of the paper? just cut it down to A4/A5 format using one of those big knive cutting tools? (don't know how theyr called in english :P )

Here is what I believe the solution to a great, working P90 magazine. This magazine holds many grey and blue spacers. It also will shoot them, so its also the gun at the same time. It can launch the spacers up to 20FT using 1 rubberband. It hasn't been shot using two. But this magazine/ gun could be great used on a P90. So if anybody wants to build it and start working on a P90, have at it! I'd only like the credit for this concept, thats all. And if you successfully build the P90 I'll award you with a patch! E-ink a technology that came out of Eric's lab at MIT a few years ago was having a hard time getting traction and finding a market. It's amazing tech, no doubt. It looks and feels just like paper. A reflective visual experience is actually much nicer on the eyes. You must have seen the Amazon Kindle at a border some time. But few hackers have $350 extra to spend on something to destroy. Esquire is going to be celebrating its 75th year with an E Ink cover, the same stuff that's in Amazon's Kindle. There will only be 100,000 copies made for its circulation of 720,000 so grab one if you see it. Magazines always cost two or three times their cover price to make, but this should be way beyond even that. Esquire had to get its own custom battery made and the E Ink can't be too cheap either.So what message is so important for all of this? A flashing message that says, "the 21st Century Begins Now." Here is a concept I came up with a while ago. Basically, it is just a mechanism that allows a normal grey connector mag (I.e. One that would be used vertically) to be used horizontally, and so solving the problem of the low capacity of traditional knex horizontal magazines. However it is not without issues. The model used in these pictures is rather large, and there is an issue where the pusher cannot push the last connector out fully. Anyway, I thought I'd just I'd post this so if anybody is interested, they can use this concept and/or improve it so all issues are fixed. Just make sure to give me credit pictures: 1) overview  2/3)  overview of the mechanism 4) the red rod blocks the rotating mechanism so that no ammo falls out when not in use. Well, sometimes I have problems with making a magazine, and I want one like ironman's with a flexi rod, but then the bullet won't come out and if I put more rubberbands on the pin sticks in the bullet itself. So I need hyelp with making a good choice for a good magazine.

I am building a sniper that shoots yellow rods, but i can't create a good enough magazine for it. Please HELP! i would like it to look like Ironman69's removable magazine if possible.

Looking for a way to make books compact and paperless does anybody know of any other ways to store books & magazines that are paperless and not electronic? The only systems that I know of are micro image sheets, micro-opaque images, microfilm, microfiche, microprints microcards and Stereoscopic viewers but they need magnified readers and are not all that practical for anything other then long term preservation.

To keep a long story short, here is the problem I'm trying solve:  I'm in the process of moding  a Nerf N-Strike into  a coil gun.  My "ammo" for this are steel archery tips that measure 8mm in diameter.  Since I'm overseas right now and have to order the gun online, while I wait for it to show up, I'd like some input as to how I might increase the magazine's spring strength while narrowing the inside width of the magazine to accomodate the diameter of the of new round.  In the past I've tried small pieces of foam board and plexiglass, but that has a tendancy to get messy and cause too much friction.  I'm sure once I have the gun to look at and play with some "great idea" will come to me, but until them I'm stuck imagining.  Any help would be appreciated.

I recently began construction on my up-and-coming knex M4 carbine assault rifle and in about 2 hours of tinkering, I designed a brand new type of removable magazine for any type of knex gun. The way it is right now is using 10 dark gray connectors as ammo, but is easily mod-able and is extremely reliable. The way it works is based on the original "push up" system, but in an easily removable form and slides/clicks into place without any hassle, almost like a real magazine would. I am very excited for this idea and I hope that it will soon be used in a hopefully working knex gun (i haven't had much luck with any ideas besides this one lately). The only bad thing about it is the way i made it requires 2 modded orange connectors (they were already broken for me) so that you don't accidentally shoot two bullets or jam the gun. I also have 2 types of grenades that use motors to fling shrapnel everywhere, and require no reassembly...these are soon to come...

I was recently contacted by a magazine asking the copyright i have with instructables on a specific instructable. Am i able to have them publish the project? Do i need to do anything special like mention instructables? The default license on my account is as follows: Attribution Non-commercial Share Alike (by-nc-sa) This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms. Others can download and redistribute your work just like the by-nc-nd license, but they can also translate, make remixes, and produce new stories based on your work. All new work based on yours will carry the same license, so any derivatives will also be non-commercial in nature. Should i reset that to some other setting?
