What music do all of you people listen to? techno/trance/rap/pop/rock/metal/country?

I ride in the San Jose Bike Party. One of the things that I like is the music. People with all sorts of boom boxes, dj systems, and lighting mounted all over their bikes or trailers. I would like to build something like that and I am checking out the many interesting projects listed here. I am wondering though, is it possible to speed the music up or down to match the bike speed, maybe with a magnet on the wheel and a sensor on the frame? I don't know if it would be a good idea, but the thought of a dirge when we are slow and chipmunks when we are fast is just funny to me.

Falls probably have seen my profile where it says I hate modern music. And I do. For A LOT of reasons. Mostly about love or ( Censored ) with the exception of a hand full. Has killed the drum and guitar solo, my favorite part of music. "Robotic" themes *cough* Lady GaGa *cough*' Have weird topics. Pretty much no relative respect for musicians. Can't understand half the lyrics. Very repetitive lyrics, well said by nigahiga. I need to think of more.

Hey, I recently saw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd3hzYAJzOo&w; and i want to make that. I read the schematic at http://www.uploderx.net/dphrag/SCHEMATIC1___PAGE1444.jpg (that link doesn't work, use this one: http://www.buildlounge.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/xy88F.jpg for it, but, I'm still quite confused. The parts that are the most problematic to me are the high, low, and mid pass filters. i don't understand what they are, and how there made. If anyone could help me, thank you.

Hi guys, Are there any DIY souls here who compose/record/produce their own original music or belong to any independent band? It would be lovely if we could all share our music here! I'll start off with mine. Feel free to check them out: www.pitchfeather.com www.facebook.com/pitchfeather Cheers, Alberta

Hello all, I'm taking a toy design class and I'm attempting to make a working prototype of a musical chairs type game. There will be a central base that plays the music, but it should be programmed to randomly stop (allowing the children to sprint to the closest "base" on the ground). The central base should then resume after either a specified time, when a button is pressed to resume play, or ideally when the kids shout "READY!". What would be the easiest way to go about constructing this? I do have some experience with programming and electronics, just not expert-level. Thanks for your help! - Danielle

Ok... i have been looking into this for the past month tried to use a TIP31 transistor to make my led light strips flash to music in my car by using my sub amplifier as an audio out source...... and it would not work so i was wondering if you someone could help me out to make a box that would allow for audio in from my amplifier that would have a circuit that would perform the task of making my led light strips flash to my music. thanks.

The "Bose" sound system is based on chamber resonance like that of musical instruments. This is the difference between a whistle and a flute. The mouth piece of a trumpet is raw without its additional plumbing. The noise of a piezo-electric sounder is raw, but chambered to resonate...better. A trumpet is basically an acoustical waveguide device. Consider this and lets see if you can "WOW!" the crowds with your sounds. The trumpet mellows the sound of the mouth piece by reflecting the sound repetitively off the inside walls of the horn. The angle is low so the acoustic wave reflects many times along the length. What works for you?

Some years ago I shared my PC with a friend. As most of the music dumped on there was his I let him categorise it, but some of the categorisation is a bit odd, making it difficult to find things.... The first one prompted the topic, what do you think: Bedouin Soundclash - "Reggae - Pop", whereas Eddy Grant is in "Reggae" Finley Quay, Deelite & Moloko are in "Pop" (there is a "Dance" category) Only Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, Jimmy Hendix and Slayer are in "Heavy Metal", but Biohazard, Pantera, Sepultura, White Zombie & System of a Down, SOD (amongst others) are in just "Metal" as are Sheep on Drugs, Sisters of Mercy and Nickleback. "Rock" contains Gogol Bordello (he didn't think of adding "Gypsy-Punk") and Dread Zeppelin. The Beastie Boys go in "Rock - Electric", as does Massive Attack, The Prodigy and The Streets "Rock - Pop" contains Bjork, Nick Cave & The Cure (amongst others) ?

Hello, I am in college, and I thought it would be an interesting idea if I had a LED light bar behind my futon to light up one of my walls. I have seen some projects on here about making a light bar but I am a little confused and I have no idea how to set it up to music. I was just wondering if anyone knows what I am talking about and if I can get it on the cheap. Thanks.

At school they showed us a video of a device that supposedly you could place on a cardboard box and music would play through the box. How can I make this? I was thinking on using a piezo element. Any ideas????P.S. you would plug it in to a headphone jack.
Question by crazyJ113 | last reply
There was much fear and freak out [when the box was opened]. But cooler heads prevailed and a phone call was made. “Hey Matt, did you order metal objects of a dubious nature?” Find out what they did, and how, here. (And what music would you store on it? My first thoughts were Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang or Twisted Firestarter...)

Hello, i got an idea of making a series of detailed, yet easy to understand instructables on music theory. i mean music theory, and i mean things you would learn in college level class. i preety much dedicated most of my life to music theory, piano, cello, and listening, as well as analyzing written music. i have also had great teachers that thought me a lot of things about music and life, and i would only feel like the greatest asshole alive if i didnt share them. one thing that is special to music theory, and only to music theory, is that it is a field of study that originated from art, not vice versa. those instructibles would cover preety much everything involved with music, including the mathematics and physics that go with it! history will be included too! the reason why i'm posting it here, is to see how many people are interested, who would want to help out, and to look for reccomendations and requests. my resume: 5 years piano 4 years cello 9 years music theory perfect pitch played in 4 different orchestras considering starting doing a chamber music program, orchestras are getting boring now :D im part of the Tri-M music honor society and i volunteer sometimes. PLEASE REPLY WITH WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THIS PROJECT :D music theory

So, I have noticed that music can be played with a tesla coil. I originally thought it could be done just by using a plasma speaker as the input for the primary coil, but now that I have realized this won't work because of a spark gap and capacitors I am stumped. Will using an inductor (i think that is right) which allows current to pass sixty times in one second yield a 60Hz pitch?
Question by jj.inc | last reply
Two tesla coils are being used to play the mario theme song. This is the first time i have ever tried embedding something, so im hoping this works. if there is no video there, here is the link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1O2jcfOylUmany thanks to goodhart for telling me how to get the video in here.

Hey all, I was just wondering whether anyone did any bands or music clubs. If so, what? I play Guitar to Grade 4, and I am in the School Jazz Band, but nothing else =/ Does anyone do anything similar? Also, if you are, what grade are you at instruments, or do you just not do them?

Hello Ok, i have a problem. My iTunes library has 1200 songs in it, not a massive number i know, But the thing is all this music is spread over so many genres and many time periods. Personally i think the way we view music is appalling, iTunes looks like a spreadsheet, my playlists are alphabetical and i cant reorganise them. Its a very boring system and for a creative person its almost impossible to find, group and remember what i like and what i want to listen to. Anyway i cant change that. So my problem is as i have grown up I've been through a number of phases. I used to like rock then heavy metal, briefly pop, then rock and now for the last two years I've been very big on electronic. I love everything about this genre and its grown massively since i have grown up. Now I only like a few of the old rock songs. Its really annoying trying to navigate this library, since all my music is mixed up. ACTUAL QUESTION Do i go through my library and keep all my favorite songs, deleting everything else ? or... Do I keep all the music I don't listen to and invest alot of time into constantly managing the playlists, and never use shuffle ? BONUS QUESTION How do you manage your music, and do you listen to one genre or multiple ? Hopefully soon someone will design a visual, personal way of listening to music, because i'm not an accountant, and my music isn't financial data...

Hey Guys, I know there are a couple hacks that show how you can make a single LED or even a couple react to music (the bass makes them bright...) but I cannot find a way to make a string of lights react to music. I want a longer string of lights to be able to do this so I can put them around a table, does anyone have a solution? Thanks

Frits Lyneborg, builds and designs all sorts of robots, his most notable robot is called "Yellow Drum Machine" which "sees" with robotic eyes, and plays music and assembles rhythms in miscellaneous things, here is a video of the Yellow Drum Machine: The Yellow Drum Machine, taps its "feelers" and records the sound, then re-plays it, and adds to it to make more of a song.here is his YouTube page:http://www.youtube.com/user/fritslyneborgand here is his website:http://letsmakerobots.com/

Had this idea for some time and ill possibly do it when i learn more electronics stuff. But for now, i'll share the idea! So imagine you have a secure locked door. Theres no keypad or keyhole anywhere on or near the door, but there is a microphone setup on it. The only way to open the door would be to play whatever song or series of notes that are programmed into the "lock" with a musical instrument. Since there are several lock-based instructables here that use arduino boards, would it be possible to use one with whatever required components to make a lock that opens with music as a key?

I have built a plasma speaker and I am using it for my science fair and while I was listening to my speaker I realized that sound was coming from somewhere besides the speaker(arc). I disconnected the arc and it was coming from the batteries! Is there any way to prevent the batteries from playing the music as well? Is it feedback? I'd like the science fair judges to only hear the arc, thank you. Also I used this guys instructible

Hi guys! I figured I might try sharing what I've made here. Recently I've gotten the full version of FL Studio and during some spare time, I enjoy composing my own music. I mainly stick to the Melodic House genre, as it is my favourite type of music. Anyhow, here's my most recent project, I've worked for quite some time on this one, and I think its pretty good, at least in my opinion. Could you guys tell me what you think, and perhaps some tips and stuff to work on for my next composition. It really would mean a lot, thanks and I hope you enjoy. Also, for those of you who have FL, I wouldn't mind giving tips as well! https://soundcloud.com/koolcoasterkid/dimensions There are also 2 other recent songs on my Soundcloud channel, if you are interested as well.

So as you can see in the video at the end of both songs I am having a issue with it cutting/shorting out. All i can think of is the tip31 transistors im using are overheating maybe? but what is really wierd is it shorts back to the speakers?? I have one transistor driving the blue leds and one driving the red leds. the red leds are being powered by a 9v supply and the blue is 15v( dont remember the MA but they both provide plenty. They are wall warts. When i plug in the 9v power supply it makes a high pitch buzzing noise.... If anyone has any pinters i would appreciate it. Thinking of adding more transistors.... I cant figure out how to link it so just copy paste the link below into your browser... https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=4627718865303&saved; and i'm following this diagram cause it does not have a switch like the others. https://www.instructables.com/id/Flashing-Leds-to-Music-multipurpose/
