Step Numbering

Is there a way to change the step numbering?  Right now, Instructables automatically gives me "Step 1.00", "Step 2.00", etc.  But what if I wanted to add "Step 2.20"? Is there a way to do this?  Thanks.

Turn numbers or bullets off

When I am creating an 'able, I enjoy numbering things.  I don't know why, it could be my attempt at organization or bringing me back to my Sesame Street days of the Count?  Dunno.... I click the icon for numbering, and start numbering things.  I click and it doesn't turn it off.  I turn it off and hit return, it is still on. I remember having this issue last 'able I made but there were two options to create an 'able, and I must have went with the other way... Now there is only one option to create one... Chrome Browser Version 38.0.2125.104 on Mac OS X Ver 10.9.5 Will attempt to recreate on a Win7 machine running the same Chrome browser (it's all I use)

Introducing the Kiteman number

Seeing the new Kiteman 'ible "Welding a barbeque", it strikes me we ought to develop a "kiteman number" here, like the Erdos number beloved of mathematicians. The K-number is the number of steps between your 'ibles collaborators and Kiteman. Clearly Perryscope, Kiteman's co-conspirator on the barbeque has a K-number of 1. I myself claim K-number of 1 too. If you collaborate with someone with a Knumber of 1, then you have a knumber of 2 etc. What's yours ? Steve

Explanation of Numbers on ATtiny? Answered

I'm thinking about doing this project, which uses ATtiny13. I noticed this particlular one has the numbers 0624 and 20pu. I found some on ebay that have 1234 ATtiny13A 10pu or 0721 20pu? Are there any differences between these versions of ATtiny13?

Problem with number of views

Hello, I've a problem with the number of view on my Instructable : https://www.instructables.com/id/Bird-Pendant-from-Simple-Metal-Plate/ I looked for it by the regular way ("Let's make......." : https://www.instructables.com/howto/bird+pendant/), and on the page of results, it's written that it was seen near 600 times, but when I open it, it's written to the square on the left 1600 views. And the number of view on the result page didn't move for more than to weeks, even if my Instructable get more views. Is that a problem with my PC or with the web site, and how can I fix it ? I tried to clear my browser cache, but it didn't change anything... Thank you in advance :) Win7 x64, Google Chrome

View numbers stuck?

It might be my imagination but it appears that the views numbers are stuck.  For example, this question was posted yesterday, but the stats say it has only been viewed 17 times and that is on today. Yet I answered it yesterday and it was saying that it was at 17 views then. So 5 people added answers and who knows how many read it but it is still stuck at 17 views. In addition the view numbers are not changeing on my instructables. These are the numbers that show for each instructable when you list your instructables in your profile page. But the stats on the individual instructables show that they have been viewed however the tallies are not changeing.  For example, my most recent instructable, which ends up at the top of the list (Homers Odyssey) is at 4799 and has been for more than a day, (It's an easy number to remember), yet the stats show 16 views today. So something strange is going on. In addition, I mentioned it in another post, I got an email saying that my pro membership is expireing yet the profile tab says the current pro membership is good until March 2013. And finally, I am no longer receiving email notices of questions that I am following, and I double checked the preferences on that. I was getting notices with no problems but the last WatchItem notice I received was at noon on the 29th. Since then, nothing.

Random number generator

I am looking to purchase or looking to make or looking for someone to make or show me how to make a simplistic ramdom number generator with a simple 2 digit lcd readout. This will be used as an automatic dice roller for a board game. The random numbers can be fixed to read out from 1 - 12 or even up to 24. Or, if not too difficult, programble, to make it more versatile Perhaps a prototype could be made by using some existing components such as from a digital clock or watch. Can anyone tell me if; 1. There is anything like this on the market? 2. There is an easy, inexpensive way to built something like this? Or 3. If someone would be interested in building something like this for me?

Total number of entries?

Does anyone know if there is an easy way (short of counting) how many entries a contest had? I feel like in the older layout it told you... https://www.instructables.com/contest/epilogchallenge/ I was a finalist on a few different contests and it would be great to reference the size of the contests for a section I'm working on in my resume... Thanks!

These numbers are just crazy!

I was looking at one of many websites I go to daily and found this really cool picture. It (the first picture) is of 8,000 42-gallon oil barrels. Which is the amount of oil consumed in the United States every two minutes. Crazy, huh?The second picture is the first one zoomed to see the detail at actual print size. There are more things like this here, and you will be amazed at just how much we use in such a small amount of time. Well it isn't just stuff we use, but most of it is.I never would have thought the United States would use 2 million plastic bottles every five minutes.

Number of Instructables in Contests

Ah, so I have Cybersitter on this computer (it's a family computer) and for some weird reason it won't let me see all of the "Be a Scientist!" contest rules nor all of the "Go Green!" rules. I'm sure that's the problem. Anyway, could some please tell me how many (and if you could, which ones) Instructables are in each contest, so I know what I'm up against. Thanks so much!

What number are you?

With almost seven billion people alive on the planet, the BBC have produced a fascinating little widget for working out what number person you are.  All you have to do is input your date of birth. As you can see from the chart below, I was the three and a half billionth person on the planet when I was born. The set-up will also tell you how fast your home country's population is growing. What's scarier, though, is the data you get for today (27th October, 2011): as I type, almost 8.5% of all the humans to have ever lived are alive right now.  To put that in perspective, if the human population was stable, and not rising, then all 83 billion of humanity's historical population would have been born in the last 1200 years. 0_o

Number of Ible's Question

First off, sorry I keep posting so many questions, I just keep coming up with more =) Anyway, here's the question... When you go to a forum topic (as you can see pictured below) under each persons profile image is a small bar showing how many instructables they've published and it is color-coded. So, at what numbers do the colors change? How many color's are there? P.S. Sorry the image isn't very clear...

Number of contest wins

Hi, when people see the prizes I have won, they tend to ask me quite often, whether anybody else has won more often than me. While I knew, that wold630 has won more often than me I had no idea where I stood. So I sat down with my boyfriend to write a small script. Since you might be interested too, I decided to post the results here (starting from four and more, else there would be to many people). They might be off here and there by one contest (especially if a patch has not been handed out), but should be pretty accurate. Thanks to everybody who has voted for me and especially instructables, for hosting so many awesome contests. help identify numbers on this chip? Answered

Okay, so im looking to replace some IC's in a laptop. simple enough, but theres one thing. the part numbers differ by only one digit, and searching for either returns identical results. its a DDR ram chip, made by samsung, part "K4D551638F-TC40". the number that changes on two of the four chips is on the first line, with the word "Samsung". one two of the chips its a "510", while on the other two its a "540". if i google the chip and go to images, most of the results show one with a 510 on it. i know it isnt the clock speed, because according to the datasheet that is shown by the "TC40", so does anyone have a clue what those 3 digits on that first line mean? if anything?

Bug: number of followers is incorrect

Hi there! I just wanted to report what I believe is a bug. I noticed that on my profile, the follow button says i have 32 followers, but the tab in the lower left says I have 30. I counted, and found that I do have 32 followers. I have noticed that it was off by 1 before, but I assumed that the follow button was higher because it was telling me what it would look like if i followed myself, or something like that. However, with the difference being 2 people, it cannot be that. Although it is a little thing, it is kind of annoying. I am running a windows 7 computer, using Chrome.

Circuit for 8 bit number to BCD?

For a TTL project I'm working on, I wanted to have 7 segment display output for the 8 bit numbers it works with. After searching on google and not finding very well documented circuits, I decided to ask here. Because the input is 8 bit, it should output 3 numbers. I only need the circuit to do the BCD because I can use 7 segment display drivers from there. (Like a 7446 IC) Thank you.

Number of instructables vs colour on avatar. Answered

Does anybody know the colour code for the amount of instructables submitted that appears under your avatar? I thought I had it worked out, 1-10 blue, 11-20 green, 21-30 red, 30 + orange. I have found a few that don't fit in this model, 16 red, 17 green, 20 red. Any ideas?

Maximum number of contests with 1 instructable? Answered

I have seen many instructables in the past be entered into as many as 3 contests at once, but now that I publish my first instructable, the maximum is 1? When did this change? I can't find any mention of it ever being less than three, in that case, is this a bug? I am really confused, as at no point was I notified of the change or made aware in any way, there isn't any reference to it in the forums or anywhere else I searched.

Comments "In [insert number here] minutes"??

So recently I've had a huge influx of comments on one of my instructables, and when I go answer them a lot of the time the comment will have the heading "Dangerously Explosive (author) in reply to ___, in [#] minutes" rather than saying "[#] minutes ago". Why does it do this, and what does it mean? Is it just going through a moderation stack, or does Instructables have a comment per unit time limit?

Number of Contest Entries per Instructable?

Recently I have observed that some instructables have been entered into 4 different contests. Some of them have also been chosen as finalists in all 4 of these contests. This forum 'Contest FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)' states: "Why can I only enter 3 contests with one Instructable? It’s all the spirit of fairness. Even if your instructable would be eligible for allllllll the contests that are open, we want you to pick the three that are most relevant and enter it there. This spreads the entries out a bit more. It’s fairly rare that one instructable wins three grand prizes (I think it’s only happened once!) but we want to make sure that one instructable doesn’t sweep the winners in several contests." Have the rules for the maximum number of contest entries per instructable been changed?

Most awesome number of total downloads

I created an add on for Firefox back in December, to allow me to control Azureus (running on my server) from any of the computers on my network. I put it on addons.mozilla.org and promptly forgot about it... last week I got an email regarding support for FF3, so I banged out a fix and went to upload it... just for fun I checked the stats page, and found awesomeness.note, Iwouldn't normally be so amazed by this, but 171 daily users is pretty cool for absolutely no advertisement and a tiny niche target audience.

How to send numbers over IR with Arduino

Hey! When I buy a cheap remote from the store, and I run a IR receiving sketch, every time I push a button I get a series of numbers e.g. 1259575. Now I now how to receive IR. But how do I transmit a number through IR? Every where I go it is outdated and doesn't work. All of Ken Sheriff's stuff is sending special Sony, Panasonic and othercompany's codes. I just want to send a number. I just want to hook up an IR LED to Arduino and have it flash a number! Simple, right? Thanks!

How to input NUMBERS through Arduino serial.monitor ???

Hello ... I would like to ask, how can my Arduino read/store a number that I sent through the serial.monitor ??? For example ... if I want to say to Arduino, how fast it should flash a LED or how fast should a motor turn. So it reads, what number I write to the serial.monitor and then use it. I was trying to find the answer in arduino forum, but I could not find it. What I was able to find are these infos : 1. I have to check, if it is a number (from 0-9) or a character ... (I have no problem with that) 2. it has to stored and then convert to number Thank you in advance. Zholy

Growing numbers of jellyfish linked to global warming

The growing number of jellyfish in the oceans has scientists worried, as they say it is an indication of how badly the ocean is being treated. They are showing up in places where they have never been seen before, and this is being attributed to a number of causes, including global warming and overfishing of the jellie's natural predators. LinkyI can personally attest to this one. I went to the beach and got stung by these little nasties. There must have been thousands and thousands of them swimming around. When they sting you, it HURTS. I had whip marks on my arms and legs for hours. Stupid jellyfish...

Biggest number ever? See for yourself! :P

Alright guys, I got bored, so I decided to make a stupid little thing that I origionally used to do with my calculator in math class. :) Actually, now I have to tell this crazy story.. :P Alright, so I used to do 1+1 a bazillion times in school to see how high i could get my calc to in 1 period of class. Then (since im a MAJOR geek) I got this AMAZING idea. I decided to hook the = button to a microcontroller with a reed relay from radio shack. So I went home, and did just that. I wish I had a picture of it. It was so cool. I let it go and go. :) Anyway, now to the stupid project I made in html/javascript. So, I made this just to "prove" that there is no "biggest number". Now, it doesnt actually find proof so it "could" be wring, but its not. :P Anyway, heres the link: http://bignumbers.co.cc/numbers.html Lol. Thats all I have 2 say. Look at the source code LOL! :P KFSDAGJK  its soooo funny. (to a geek) Anyway, thanks. Later guys! :) p.s., I am at 85,000 on mine.. :)

amount of wind (input) = number of LEDs Lit?

Good afternoon, Im making an exhibition piece that will have children working a set of bellows that are connected to a (pretend) blacksmiths forge. What I need to represent is the more the bellows are pumped the more the "embers" will glow. Im thinking a turbine tachometer that leads to an LED driver set to display as Bar so the faster the turbine spins the more LEDS are lit, or they trigger a series of LEDs to light (this thing has to get pretty bright not sure one LED per step will do it. Trouble is im good with the theory and pretty good with the practical its just the technical that is letting me down. If anyone could see there way to giving this some thought and maybe doodling a circuit diagram / shopping list that would be awesome. You can checkout some of the other things if made here imakemodels.co.uk
