After a lot of pleading, I got Dad to type up an Instructable in Word. He originally wanted it to be posted under my name, but where's the fun in that? After a little more pleading, I got him to join. He's still a little iffy on this, so I need you guys and gals to convince him. The countdown begins! It snuck (or sneaked, if you prefer) up on me. :P And now the race is on to finish the plushie so that we can travel across the country together. I'm going to need a travel companion. The trips there and back will be pretty long. And I need to figure out how much sewing stuff I can bring with me without sacrificing room for clothes, hahaha. 6 days!! (5 more days of work, even less! YES!)

Or maybe this is an example of tailgating the right way? To be honest, I've never been into the whole tailgating thing and like a regular bbq in the park or in a backyard. But if you love your recently bisected vehicle and want to turn it into a grilling machine, then check this out.via Core77

Okay, I didn't know what it was, until I saw someone use a dead mouse as a computer mouse. I have always liked instructables, but now I feel sick. Is this something you guys seriously promote? God gave us all the animals on earth. But he didn't do it for this reason. Please remove this section, because it is extremely offensive. Now I will be thinking about it for awhile, and remembering it in disgust. Please instructables team if you have a heart, please take this disgusting stuff off your site.

Well, after a long absence I am finally back! It had to do with school and doing a VERY big project. Okay, so it was homework, oh well. The point is that I'm back to Instructables. Now, I'm terribly sorry to say to Katarukito that your Dragunuv took up too many pieces. I made up to the stock and realized I couldn't finish it. Seriously, it was a big let-down that I couldn't make it. Well, now that I am done with that, don't let me do anything. I need to finish the Storm 220. Wait, does that mean I have to get off my lazy butt?

I think it would be fun to be able to personalize our public profile pages. Uploading custom images to use as backgrounds adds so much personality to a profile. Changing the "color theme" lets users put out clear messages like "I'm professional", "I'm cool", or "I love colors so much omg". All of those are valid messages. Thoughts? Might this be possible? UPDATE: Kiteman has pointed out that choosing which six projects show up on our overview pages would be awesome.

High all, I have a room thats designated for massage and physical therapy. Its not a big room, 10 by 13 feet and it has one wall thats also a roof. So working space is a bit limmited. I have a old but strong massagetable thats made out of steel and has a black leather top. As a pressent i got it from my father inlaw so i dont want to put it a way, but it is however taking a lot of roomspace. So i was thinking on making a construction on my wall to mount it on so it can be folded away to make more room for other activities. Problem is... how do i make it strong enough to hold it in place, not only during idle time but most importent, during long massage sessions. The table weighs in at about 70 kilo's, the frame is solid and the legs are rounded aluminium pipes. O, and the design has to look a weee bit atractive... otherwise clients wil walk away thinking "OMG, LOOK AT THAT FREAKY TABLE!!!" Thnx in advance!

Hi, well i've researched a bit about homemade tattoo guns and that stuff, and I sudenly remembered that my brother has a Crayola Cutter (just like the one below LOOK FOR IT IN YOUTUBE SO YOU CAN SEE IT WORKING) and I have some Asian ink I think (the bottle is in spanish so it says "TINTA CHINA" so I thinkk it is the same stuff. well, I but some alcohol in a little part of my leg so I could try making a little dot with te cutter and the ink, and for my surpise, it didnt hurt that much and a little black dot remained in my leg (omg it worked!) (I want answers, not OMG YOU'VE BEEN DEAD) When ever my Acer Aspire one d250 netbook's bottom is impacted, or dropped on my bed, it freezes. The only way to restore it is to manually restart, then it usually freezes after the splash screen. Occasionally, it will just freeze. I've tried checking the temperature of the cpu, but it comes up as normal, 110 degrees Fahrenheit. I want to crack it open and check out if anything is loose, which would make perfect sense, but I want to do a system backup first, and I'm afraid it'll freeze during that. If anyone could provide links to instructions on how to open such a computer, or a solution to the problem overall. Also, I checked my ram already, and did a full scan with avast and AVG10. -NYPA UPDATE I believe the problem to be that the hard drive is failing. As of now, my computer will randomly lock up, particularly during intensive HDD usage. When i drop my laptop, it'll lock up because the hard drive shakes and gets unbalanced, causing it to scratch. My computer will lock up randomly because it'll hit some of those scratches. This is all my reasoning. I'm not sure if it is right, but it seems to be. I'm going to do a backup and restore, just to make sure it is a hardware issue, and if it is, I'll get it checked out. Thanks for the support. UPDATE I took it in and the problem proved to be a tiny crack in the motherboard. Lucky for me, however, my family just received a brand new desktop! WOOHOO!
Question by NYPA | last reply
Hello, I am struggling to upgrade a certain medical system . The device I have contains an old motherboard which powered by an AT power supply. My problem is that the power supply board (which supplies the AT power) has other functions, and there's no way to be replaced (by an ATX PSU). I already bought the motherboard: http://www.ibase.com.tw/2009/MB970.html , with INTEL core i5 CPU Cry Cry. I can't risk my power supply board in attempting to operate the new parts (motherboard, CPU, 4 Gb RAM, CPU fan, SATA harddisk, and DVD), I believe it won't stand that kind of power consumption. I know you'll say this won't work at all -I know, but I was thinking about using voltage regulators to generate the 3.3 v rail from the same AT power lines. OMG I really need help about: How I can connect the AT and ATX power supplies to this motherboard (and to the other parts), ensuring that I am not risking my AT power board at all?. Another headache is that the AT power board has to work at the same time with the motherboard. And in order for the system to work the AT power board has to work (you know that a feedback circuit should be completed) that's why it should be connected to the motherboard. This really became a challenge for me. I can't stop thinking, planning, and dreaming about it. If you have any idea or any experience about this, I would like and hope to hear from you...

Gurus of the Tech World, First off, I'm browsed through a lot of great idea and I've got to say, you all are geniuses. Hopefully, someone can help steer me in the right direction. I have made a few Windows Phone apps, made a few HTML websites and some networking fundamentals, but I've never really made a device... much less soldered a board. With that said, I want my first project to be a Bluetooth Push-to-Talk (PTT) button for Teamspeak. I have a Bluetooth headset with a microphone for Teamspeak (VOIP PC Application) so I can hear people speaking while being away from the computer but I do not have a way to communicate back using the Push-to-Talk method. So, what I want to do is make a small Bluetooth device, maybe powered by a 9V, with a single PTT button, and maybe an ON/OFF switch to save power. My thought is to program it so that it send a keystroke to my computer for the duration that the PTT button is pressed (CTRL would be ideal). This is something that I want to make, using as much of my brain as possible and the least amount of prefabricated merchandise ("omg, just buy a bluetooth dongle and plug it into a button. ta-da"). I'm sure that this is something you guru's can do blindfolded, but, please, point me in the right direction... and use baby words. Thanks! Stryker2k2 (@stryker2k2)

Note: When I address 'ibles, I'm talking about the K'nex community here.Hey, knexers of 'ibles. Ignore my title, but it was irresistible , was it not?I'm here before you all today to give you all something to ponder, or act on. Yes, this is about the K'nex 'ibles and KI dilemma. I'm going to tell you now, I'm not going to flame 'ibles, or put offense upon it. Instructables is a DIY website, not specific to K'nex. It wasn't made to hold this community. In my opinion, people here care too much about things they shouldn't , such as ratings. People can rate them anything they want. "5 star because it looks cool!" "1 star, I don't like you." I haven't seen a lot of constructive criticism, which is, I think, what everyone should want. Most of the comments I see aren't very pleasant to read; do you really need to say "u" for "you"? Or "thx" for "thanks"? There aren't many rules here to enforce this. Or if there are, it's too laid back.First off, as you can tell by the name, K'nex Innovation was started for the productivity of K'nex. The decently small community there uses good grammar, to a point. It is moderated better post wise, as it is focused on one topic and things can be easier checked, for its size, once again. Another reason for this is that it's focused on one thing, and one thing only, so that there's less people than Instuctables obviously has. I'm not saying the people on KI have perfect grammar, I don't have it, but I'm saying that they try to the best of their abilities. No rating system. We give constructive criticism, and look down on "OMG COOL GUN!!!!1!!!!11!!" type posts. If you want to say that kind of stuff, PM the dude/man/guy. There's a mixed variety of people; gunners, and then some that make other nifty contraptions. There's a chat room, for K'nex talk. Of course, we have fun there too, throwing off jokes and playing around. Usually a good 8 or so people are in there. A handful of the more matured users who once roamed this site have settle there, such as Mepain and Oodalumps, to name a few. Recently, people there have started a podcast, currently with only two episodes. Also a step up in the community (coming from K'nex Innovation), soon there will be the first internet organized K'nex war.Even if you completely disagree what all that I said, please go check the site out: http://knexinnovation.net/And for those of you who want to talk it up with us first, here's the KI Chatroom: http://embed.mibbit.com/?settings=d4a2e2317b84e8897df0b736464a8ee4&server;=mibbit.darkmyst.org&channel;=%23KIchat&

I should not get hoocked on the cummunity side here again but well, I am bored today...If you have a vintage car, some old steam engine models or even really old clocks then you know my pain.Copper, brass and sometimes aluminium was used and if not cared for in time they nice shine goes first.Dirt and dust come next. And with more time passed we start to consider leaving it as the polishing would take forever.Take one of my "hobbies": old mantle clocks...Literally everything inside is brass. Now polishing a bass backing plate with some holes is quite easy if you have an ultrasonic cleaner to clean the debris out of the tiny holes when done.Even tried to polish a sprocket or fine spring mechanism? If spoked then this is a really painful job.But the same is true if you have old copper and brass ware, like these old stenciled pictures on copper sheets. No matter what you try these jobs end up to take more time than what you imagined and in many cases fine details are left oxidised or filled with the polishing compount. Now imagine you could get rid of these tarnishes and discolorations without cramps in your hand and bying all sorts of polishing products?Sure there are the well known brands that polish a lot of metal with ease by simply wiping over them. But they use harmful and often toxic chemicals and are still no good for really fine details like grooves or emossed stuff.Wearing gloves and protection is often a must and at least I can't stand the stink of them.We all know how to clean our dishes, even how to get the dried on lasagne from last night off the dinner plates. So why not do the same with our brass, copper or aluminium parts?Just use a spongue, rub and wipe a bit, rinse off and let dry.Ok, those who tried before reding the rest might be a bit angry now as it does not work that easy.Well, actually it does, just don't use dishwashing liquid :)Let me give you two of the worst cleaning problems I encountered first:You did some very fine brazing to create something nice from brass or bronze. The flux you can wash off, but polishing the discoloration from the heat and resulting oxidisation will take longe than the brazing job.The other ecounter was the restauration of a petromax style blow torch of alomst 60 years of age - but thankfully it was never used for more than decoration. All brass and a lot parts impossible to polish due to size and being quite delicate. Now we all have ways to spend a lot of time and being creative to use normal ways of polishing. And, yes I did so myself for many years and kick can myself now too.Since we can't do any advertising here and I clearly don't want to promote any brands or harm other brands by rendering their costly products useless I need a way out that helps everyone. So, again, I am not trying to promote anything here! However I noticed someone in my favourite restaurants kitchen polishing some dark copper pot to a mirrow shine in less than 5 minutes!I was shocked and asked the manager to explain what I just saw.He was confused to say the least..."We clean our pots every day, sometimes more depending on what we cooked in them."Sure but what do you use to do what I need several hours for in minutes and with better results?"Just water and soapy powder to shine the metal sir. All natural product."Omg god or Kali! What makes it shine so quickly?"Shining powder sir!" - mind you the poor guy was now totally confused and worried, while I started to loose my insanity. He noticed the look on my face and went into the kitchen.Gave me a fance looking bag that apart from a lot of Indian writing I could not make any sense of stated "Shining powder" on the pack. When the manager saw the look on face this time he laughed and asked "How do you clean your copper pots sir?"I was speechless and just said with much more time and elbow grease...He packed about thimble worth of powder for me to try and said it would be enough for a medium sizde pot, just use a wet spongue and put a little bit of powder on it.And guess what the stuff worked as good as in the restaurant :(I can't even count how many hours I wasted polishing copper or brass parts with fine details.Or engine parts from aluminium with brass parts inside....With this stuff you just wipe and tough cases rub a bit harder and all is done in literally seconds. In tight areas or those with fine details you use a fine brush like those for painting in water colors. And with that and a spongue you clean even the finest details with ease.In an ultrasonic cleaner it even works on areas you can't reach, just wipe what you can reach and see somehow and it shines. Now if you want this magic stuff and check if the guy here is just pulling your leg then be prepared to pay a lot of money.200 grams of this powder will set you back between 5 and 15 bucks depending on where you shop. That is enough clean about 300 midsized copper pots or a few hundret meters of copper piping....Just ask for shining powder in your Indian grocery store ;)We all waste money or stuff we don't need, so if you have coper, brass or aluminium to polish then try washing it the Indian way - just for fun of testing something else. And if after that test you think the few bucks and information was well worth it than please post your experience with the powder in the comments below.I hope all those members here working with these metals will read this too, so if not help me to spread the word please ;)I am struggling to upload some pics I have taken from the blow torch but will try again alter once I reduced their size.If in doubt I will upload them to a hoster and link them.Disclaimer:I don't advertise, I don't promote! However I am so pleased with this dirt cheap product that I use it now as my prefered and natural option. For this reason I think it is worth sharing. It is not a magic cure! If you have pitted areas, solder marks or brazin coming out of joints it will not help.Same for scratches, they still require abrasive polishing to be removed. But normal dirt from being displayed for years, oxidisation and even slight discoloration from corrosion will vanish. And if the surface has a good polish underneath all this than it will come back with ease ;)
