Penolopy Bulnick Leaving Instructables Staff

That's right.  It is time for Penolopy Bulnick to move on.  Who is this Penolopy Bulnick fella? Well, even if you don't know who I am, I have been around for the past few years, lurking in the shadows.  I chit chat with all of you through comments, I help those of you who have trouble posting (even if you don't want the help), I release your awesome projects when they get caught in the filters, I post to our Tumblr, Facebook, Google+ and Pinterest pages, I create the newsletter you get 3 times a week, I help assemble and edit the print books we have done through Skyhorse Publishing, and I create crazy sugary projects in my spare time :) What are you going to do now?  Do you think you could actually get another job as awesome as Instructables? No :)  Nothing can replace the awesomeness that is Instructables and its community, but I'm sure going to try.  I don't have any finalized plans yet, but you may yet still see me around! I just wanted to let everyone know that even though I want to help you on the site forever, I will not be able to from now on :( I love you all. Goodbye :)  (after Friday, I'm still around till Friday) (I copied Scoochmaroo's use of a bye bye gif)

How does the taste compare in Flourless versus Flour recipes? Answered

I see recipes once in a while, like this one, where they don't use flour.  I know it is easier, but does anyone know the taste difference in flourless recipes?  Is it not worth it to do flourless?

Cellophane Recommendations

Anyone work with cellophane? I'm working on a papercraft and bought this cellophane. It is cheap, super thin and fragile and while it is fine, I was hoping to find something a bit thicker/sturdier. It kind of worked for what I am doing, but would love to know if there are other options. Anyone work with any cellophane and have suggestions? I would prefer to have a multi-color variety pack, but any suggestions are welcome :)

Ribbon Cutting at Pier 9

Yesterday (Thursday September 12th) was the official ribbon cutting at Pier 9.  There were many people in attendance including Autodesk CEO Carl Bass and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee. In Instructables' tradition of being nontraditional, the ribbon was made of metal and cut by Carl with a grinder. Tours were given after the official cutting to those who haven't yet experienced the awesomeness of our workshop! Read some more in the article on San Francisco Business Times.

Scoochmaroo Reaches 10 Million Views

Scoochmaroo has made it to 10 Million views!  (She is actually, currently at 10,100,135 and climbing!)   To celebrate we wanted something special for her, something that was 10 million something specials.  After ruling out cupcakes and sprinkles, we decided to just go with 10 million sugar molecules (give or take a few)!  So Canida whipped up a Pavlova dessert.  You can find a recipe to make it yourself here by kazmataz. It was quite delicious and enjoyed by all! Congratulations Scoochmaroo!

Pin it Button! Did you see it!

The Pin It Button is back!  You may not have noticed, but it is there. It is pretty simple to use. To see the button, hover over the image you want to pin.  Don't open the image.  You can pin the big images, and the images that are in rows of two.  Any more images in a row than that and it doesn't look like you can pin them. Click the Pin It button. This will open a new tab the same as the bookmark bar Pin It button works. Pin the image. Close the separate window. You are done! Please, PIN AWAY!

Instructables Shark Watching Trip!

First off, we didn't see sharks, but that doesn't mean we didn't have a good time! Yesterday (11/20/13) the Instructables crew went out on a rented boat (there were people to drive this boat) and went out to the Farallon Islands to try to see sharks because the site was able to get 1 Million visits in a single day!  So this was thanks to all of you! It was not the best day (bit rainy and cold), but we all had a good time and only 4 of us got sick!  Yay! Pictures provided by everyone!  Gif by Renee.

LEGO Mindstorms Competition - Robo Lunch Party

Instructables participated in the LEGO Mindstorms Competition today (August 29th) at SOMA StrEATFood Park.  We went against Pandora, Facebook, and Flickr.  The competition was about using the new LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Kit to create a robot that best represented the city of San Francisco. Our team consisted of Randy, Sherry, Dave, Karen, and myself: Penolopy Bulnick. Instructables:  Robit the texting techie robot that walks around while playing on his phone not paying attention to his surroundings and running into people.  We gave him glasses (it made him look like Wall-E) and then wore LEGO Glasses ourselves. Flickr: San Francisco Icon Emperor Norton. Pandora: Two robots.  Dressed in baseball outfits.  One was the pitcher and one was the hitter. Facebook: This robot was also baseball themed.  They had one that would hit the ball and then follow a track to run the bases home. It was a tough competition, but in the end Pandora came up with the win.  We didn't leave empty handed though.  We managed to snag the coveted "Best Texting While Driving" award!  (Please remember to not actually text and drive, or you will get in an accident like our robot did.  Poor robot, should have known better.  Smashed into so many pieces.) Good job Instructables! Check out the Fast Company and CNET articles about the competition, including more information about the other contestants and images of all the entries.

Problem with submitting Instructable to DIY Batman Costumes? Answered

Hi, my username is Folda Fett, and my problem is that when I go to submit one of my batman Instructables to the DIY Batman Costumes Instructables guide, which is run by Penolopy Bulnick, it does not work. The Instructable I am trying to submit is How to Fold an Origami Batarang From the Dark Knight. I copy my URL, and post it in the submit taskbar, but when I click submit it says Something Went Wrong! I have tried it about a dozen times different ways and with different instructables and that's all it says everytime! Please Help.

Craftster is running a contest with prizes we provided for them! You should check it out, but here are the basic guidelines for entering: Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is New Year, New Uses!  Your challenge this month is to bring new life to an old object in your home.  The object could be a houseware piece, an item of clothing, home decor... anything you choose!  Your repurposing should transform the object into something entirely new and unexpected.  Perhaps you'll finally get to make a lamp out of that vintage, avocado green blender you've been hoarding all these years. Who is part of Craftster and is going to enter?!?

Instructables Visits the Exploratorium

Instructables got to sneak in to check out behind-the-scenes at the Exploratorium (which happens to be at Pier 15 which is right next door to the Instructables HQ) as well as entry into the After Dark Event: Transformations.  During the private tour we were able to get more information about specific exhibits as well as a see their Exhibit Development Shop. The next After Dark event will be Fog and it will defiantly be worth checking out.  And even if that doesn't work or you aren't old enough (After Dark is an adults only event) you should plan a day trip to the Exploratorium, there is so much to see!
