Pixlr Bug

I want to post an ible with writing on the cover photo. I have done it before, so I clicked on the "edit in pixlr" button and it makes the picture go grey. It doesn't do anything and when I click on the back button it doesn't go back to the picture, so I have to restart or us the draft. Help would be appreciated.

Pixlr editor "hanging"

I have been trying to edit the opening image of my latest project, but when I start the Pixlr editor, the upload bar runs across to 100% without problem, but then stops at 100% and nothing else happens. The adverts run fine, though... Running in Firefox and Windows 8.

Pixlr Photo Editor Not Working - is it only me?

This post is not about the Pixlr editor that was removed from the site. I use Pixlr express several times a week, and now it doesn't open up on any computer that I try.  Is there a chance that you could try to access pixlr express and let me know if it works on your computer? I've tried a few so far on all browsers, updated flash, restarted, etc. https://pixlr.com/express/ I just get a gray screen :( Thank you!

Pixlr editor won't save edited image

I'm trying to edit a photo from my library with Pixlr. I load it from my library into my project and from there I click on Edit. I can do the edits in Pixlr just fine, but when I try and save the edited image back to my library, I get a completely blank webpage with this address at the top: https://www.instructables.com/drag_editor/pixlr/?image=http://apps.pixlr.com/_temp/57ad165b50e1b6d73a000083.jpg&type;=jpg&state;=copy&title;=Object-19 The page doesn't try to load anything, it just sits there, and if I try and go back I go back to Pixlr with the unedited image. If I navigate back to my project, the image is left unedited. I'm using Chrome Version 52.0.2743.116 m with Windows 8 on a laptop. Thank you.

Enter the Snap, Style & Share Photo Competition

Hey there. I'm the community manager for Pixlr. Wanted to tell you about a contest that might interest you.  We recently launched a contest that celebrates not just taking photos — but editing them, too. It’s a contest that’s perfect for students, but just about anyone between the ages of 13 and 24 can enter. We’ll be giving away some great prizes like an iPad, an iPad mini, and an Olloclip iPhone lens (among many others). The contest is called Snap, Style & Share, and that’s about all you have to do to enter: Snap a photo with your smartphone or camera. Style it in Pixlr Express to improve and enhance it. Share the before and after photos on the contest site — and anywhere and everywhere else that you think will give you a leg up on the competition. Everyone will vote for their favorite photos, with a panel of judges choosing the ultimate winners from a big batch of popular finalists. We’ll be tracking (and showing off) some of the top photos here on the Pixlr blog in the coming weeks, as well as some of the more interesting ones that catch our eye. Whether you’re a serious student of design, someone who loves exercising their creativity, or just someone with some great photos sitting on their phone from summer vacation, this is a fun and easy contest to enter. So, enter now!

"I Made It" Pixlr photo contest for Maker Month

Hey there! I work alongside the Instructables folks in our Pier 9 office as the community manager for Pixlr, a photo app that you may or may not be familiar with. Actually, the Instructables site uses Pixlr, so if you've submitted an Instructable, you have probably used our photo editor.  We know that the Instructables community LOVES contests, so I wanted to pass along this contest that is dead-simple to enter. We're celebrating Maker Month at Pixlr with a slightly Instructables-themed hashtag contest. You can read all about it on our site for the contest, but I will lay out the major details if you are interested in entering:  Take a photo of anything you've made.  Edit it in any Pixlr app (e.g., Pixlr Express). Tag photos with two tags — #imadeit #pixlrcontest — on Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest, Tumblr, or Facebook. That's it. Super simple to enter. In fact, if you've ever submitted an Instructable, I encourage you to enter it in our contest by editing one of your Instructables photos with a Pixlr app and posting it with the hashtags so we can find it.  We're giving away 7 prizes through the end of May, and all winners get to pick a prize from this batch of fun prizes on our contest site: imadeitpixlrcontest.com. Lots of photo-friendly and just cool stuff on there, so you're bound to find something you like.  Happy to answer any questions you have, and I hope you join us for this fun little contest.

Pixlr Trouble Blending 2 Exposures for Real Estate

Hello, I am testing out the pixlr.com editor version... Opening 2 photos of exact same shot... one with blown out windows in a house and one with the outside view showing in the windows.  Each time I try to use the brush mode, click black and drop the opacity... nothing happens. Here are the exact steps.. 1. Open both photos at once 2. copy and paste the bright photo over the top of the dark photo 3. delete original photo 4. unlock box for darker photo and check the box 5. click add mask layer (I get a red box next to the white box on that layer) 6. Merge visible 7. Click brush select black and lower opacity... Nothing happens Sometimes opacity is already at zero.. other times I can get it at 100% and drop it all the way to zero and nothing changes. Anything I am missing or doing wrong? Here's 2 photos for an example

Congratulations Halloween Photo Editing Contest Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Halloween Photo Editing Contest. We received a ton of great entries, and the 9 judges who evaluated the finalists had their work cut out for them. We pulled our judges from Instructables HQ and several people who had a hand in the creation of Pixlr. They used range voting on a scale of 1-9 judging entries based on clarity, ingenuity, creativity, quality of presentation, and execution of the Instructable. The winner, Hollymann and her Zipperface tutorial, created a project that was both glamorously disgusting and well-documented. The combination of final product and step by step process was a winning combination in the judges’ eyes. We really liked seeing supplemental text on top of the photos themselves, particularly because it was informative without being distracting. The special “Hooray! You used Pixlr!” judge’s prize went to doodlecraft’s Ghosts in a Graveyard project. Wrangling a four year old, taking 300 photos, and the quality of both the photos and the edits all contributed to win the judges over. The results were excellent, and doodlecraft might have snagged the top spot with some more screenshots and meta-explanation of which Pixlr tools she had used and why. The other entries were also excellent, and we at Instructables really appreciate the time and effort it takes to share a great project. The real winners here are all of the people looking to improve their photo-manipulation skills who now have a much larger repository of tutorials for a free and browser-based photo-editing application. Also, Halloween enthusiasts everywhere can now zip their faces and turn their friends and families into ghosts. (Among about 78 other awesome options.) Good work, everyone! The Pixlr Halloweeks Photo Challenge: Because Halloween Deserves a Whole Month

The Instructables community loves Halloween. Big time. My hope is that you'll like this photo contest.... I was looking to create a contest for Halloween for the community of people who use Pixlr apps, and I thought why limit a contest celebrating Halloween to the week of Halloween. Why not turn the whole month of October into one big Halloween fest? Heck, they do it with Christmas so why not Halloween? We’ll be giving away a new prize every week in October, culminating in our grand prize of a Sony QX10 lens — plus 3 special creativity prizes to put your artwork on beautiful, big canvases courtesy of CanvasPop. All you have to do is share a photo that screams out Halloween on Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, Facebook, or Tumblr with the hashtag #halloweeks. You can follow our weekly prompts or just share anything you think embodies the spirit of Halloween — a haunted-looking house, a creatively carved pumpkin, a particularly awesome zombie costume from last year. Anything and everything “Halloween” will be considered for a prize. Interested? Visit halloweeks.com to see the current entries and find out more. Hit us up on Twitter for special recognition or encouragement. We’re dying to see what you create!

Why did Text/Photos Disappear from my Instructable? | HOW TO FIX!

If I had a dollar for every time I accidentally clicked on another place on the screen while working on an Instructable, resulting in loss of data... Even if you click the save button many times, if you suddenly quit, the editor won't remember what you did. I've seen SO MANY comments saying that the editor didn't save what they wrote right before uploading, so I decided to share what I do to help stop this... Most members will see this forum topic only when it's too late, but at least they might remember this for future I'bles... 1. Open a "Preview" version of the Instructable in a new tab. If your computer crashes, you might be able to restore previous tabs, and your computer should remember what was written in the preview. Then you can copy and paste everything where it needs to be... 2. Send yourself an email of each step. Just copy and words of each step and paste them on one draft email... 3. Take screenshots. At least you'll be able to see what you wrote... Hope this helps! Please leave ideas of what else you can do in the comments

missing contest banners

Hi, I noticed that the Halloween Draw & Paint It Contest with Sketchbook and the Halloween Photo Editing Contest with Pixlr  entries are missing contest vote banners on the Instructables.  Is this a new thing that we can only vote on the contest pages or a bug? I don't know if it is relevant, but I am using Windows 7 and Firefox 15.0.1.

Edited images are having unwanted saturation added to them

It seems that if I upload a photo to an instructable that has some form of text on it (be it from photoshop or pixlr) then it gets saturation added to it. However any raw photos that don't contain anything extra don't get this saturation. This has also happened on multiple instructables.

I am a winner for the HALLOWEEN Photo Editing But have not heard from INSTRUCTABLES

Hi all, I am still new to the site, so not sure how some things work. I am a winner in the Halloween Photo Editing, but have not been  informed by INSTRUCTABLES that I have been, nor have they contacted me for an address to send my prize to.  I contacted a site intern via her page two days ago and have not heard from her either. I do not even know how to contact them for an answer on this. Can someone please direct me to how to claim my prize, or how to even be informed that I have been. This is the instructable.... https://www.instructables.com/id/Halloween-Horror-Portraits/ And this is showing me as one of the winners... https://www.instructables.com/contest/pixlr/ Thank you for your assistance, BW

Help! Please Donate More Common Sense!

It's not that I don't have common sense, It's because I think like this. I overthink things, when the answer is usually simple. Maybe I take things way too seriously. It probably took Brooklytonia about 20 seconds to read and figure this out... About a week ago, I uploaded an Instructable that I thought would be a HUGE hit. It wasn't. When my Instructable on Dimmable LED Workshop Lighting (Very High Efficiency) got featured in the Newsletter, it got 100K+ views. This is because it was at the top, and it was impossible to miss. When my Instructable on Insanely Bright LED Panel got featured in the newsletter, It got 40K+ views. It was at the bottom left on the email. I figured that it made sense. When my Instructable on Articulating 70W Spectrum-Balanced LED Panel got featured in the newsletter, it got ~10K views. This makes no sense! (I've changed the titles to what the staff changed them when they got featured in the newsletter. Not sure why I remember this...) Dimmable LED Workshop Lighting (Very High Efficiency) - Good title. Good thumbnail. Main Instructable - TONS of clicks - 3K views in less than 10 minutes Insanely Bright LED Panel - Okay title (not my fault!). Fairly good thumbnail. Located at the bottom left - Quite a bit of views Articulating 70W Spectrum-Balanced LED Panel - Good title. Good thumbnail*. Located in the middle. - Not a lot of clicks - 3K views in several hours. WHY? Of course there are several things that differ between Insanely Bright LED Panel and Articulating 70W Spectrum-Balanced LED Panel. But why such a difference? I mean-- I always compare the statistics of my I'bles, and try to make them better. It's usually hard to compare, and surprising. But why is there such a huge difference between two Instructables that are pretty similar? *I changed it a couple hours before it got featured in the newsletter, with the Instructables Pixlr editor. I know it turned ot a bit weird, but it was the best that I was able to do. The Pixlr site has better fonts, but the biggest on was still soooo small. Maybe I did something wrong. New Editor Feedback

I just used the new editor for the first time, publishing a quick project, and starting a longer one. Short version: I like it. I particularly like being able to edit my images via Pixlr. Rotating and cropping on the fly were ideal. Longer, less-positive version: The "unordered list" and "order list" buttons added neither bullet-points nor numbers.  All they did was indent the text. There is an "intuition breakdown" adding images to steps - when I wanted to add images from my library, I thought I couldn't, until I discovered that the library can be accessed via the "Upload Images" button.  The "Upload Images" button ought to be renamed "Add Images". When using the "Upload Images" pop-up, the actual image upload function did not work.  I clicked the button, and nothing happened - no error message, no wait symbol, nothing. This is all experienced using my desk-top PC, running Windows XP and FireFox.

Instructablize Your Social Media! (aka YouTube)

Are you looking for the world's worst picture? Look at my profile picture! (As of now...) Since I've opened a new YT Channel, I decided that I'd make myself a channel intro (which I've already done) and nice banner, and most importantly: INSTRUCTABLIZE IT! (It would also be nice to have an option for a banner here on Instructables, since there is a lot of wasted space with the new update..) After a few hours*, I think I've finally come up with a nice one- See the screenshot below, if you're interested. (EDIT: Here is a link to may channel, in case I update it in the future, or if you'd like to give me some feedback-- I'd really appreciate that! :) It's not perfect, but I like it. I like how my name is in fairly bright green, the 24 is in blue. I also like how the robots hover all over the place, though I think I might have made them a bit too big... I made this with the Pixlr Editor, and if you want to make your own, feel free to use my image and modify it. If you do this too, don't forget to post a picture/ link to your channel below! EDIT: I forgot to write this, but this was actually my "second" try, since I tried to do something similar to this a few days ago... It is now a pinned (to the top) tweet on My Twitter (as of now, too...).  *This might look really simple, but it took me several hours to do this. Don't ask why!

Instructables Joins Autodesk

The Instructables community is incredible: you build, bake, and create amazing things, then share your projects and ideas with the world. I think it’s great when someone builds a project using instructions from our site, but it’s even more amazing when we inspire someone to start (or finish) that project they’ve always dreamed of. This has been my vision for Instructables: to have a positive impact on the world by giving passionate people great publishing tools to document their projects, and connect them to a community full of like-minded people. Today I’m able to share my plan for accelerating that vision, and making Instructables an even better place to be. I’m proud to announce that Instructables is becoming part of Autodesk. Everyone here at Instructables HQ is absolutely thrilled, because this is going to be awesome for the entire Instructables community. Instructables will still be the same site you love: we’ll keep the Instructables name and URL, the whole team is staying on, our policies haven’t changed, you still hold copyright to your projects, we’ll still run awesome contests, and the Robot isn’t going anywhere. However, we’ll now have the resources to make some improvements to the site I know our authors and community will love. Autodesk gives us the scale and support to grow and improve Instructables, build some great apps, and continue our mission of creating a positive impact on the world. Everyone on the Instructables team will become Autodesk employees, but we'll still wear our Robot t-shirts with pride. Autodesk is a great cultural fit for Instructables. They make tools for creative people: they’re the world leader in 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software. Even if you don’t recognize the name Autodesk, their software has powered the movies you watch, and designed the cars you drive and the buildings you work in. Instructables will be the community arm of the same team that makes 123D, SketchBook, Homestyler, and Pixlr, which will help provide creative tools, inspiration, and services for all types of creative people. Here’s Carl Bass, Autodesk’s CEO, talking more about his vision for the future of DIY. We’ve had a great time building Instructables, and look forward to taking it to the next level. Thanks to the Instructables team for all their hard work, our investors including O’Reilly Alpha Tech Ventures and Baseline Ventures for believing in us, and to all the authors and community members who have made Instructables a great place to learn and share ideas. I’m confident Autodesk will be a great home for Instructables, and will help us make Instructables an even better place to share your projects and ideas. I’m excited to join the Autodesk team, and get right to work. I’d also like to hear what you think: click here for info on an upcoming live Q&A; event, and click here to suggest how we should co-opt the resources of a multi-national corporation to make Instructables even more awesome. This announcement is duplicated on our blog here.
