R/C

Hi, I'm making plans for a remote control car from scratch, and have a few questions. Are hobby motors able to go backwards, how do you control that? Any ideas on making a wireless usb cord for a webcam? Do you know of any small things (like motors) that could move a switch remotely for the steering mechanism? Any other ideas?

R/C Sailboat

I want to make a R/C sailboat, so far I have 4x32x1/4 inch balsa wood planks and they should last me the entire project. This weekend I'm going to visit a hobby store and get: waterproof wood glue, waterproofer for the wood. Then go to target and get a rotary tool. The boat will be 3 inches tall with a 1 inch keel (keeps the boat from tipping) 5 inches wide and 15 inches tall. I will get a cheap multi directional R/C car and use the steering mechanism to move the rudder and the drive motor to turn the sail. Once I make the boat I'll fill the gaps with wood paste and water proof everything hopefuly with a silicon based sealant. Any tips or flaws with my plans, please see the attached sketch.

Replace r/c batteries

Hi, does anyone know how to replace r/c car batteries with normal AA cells (or pp3 or whatever)? This is really annoying me coz I have an old r/c car (pretty good one actually) but the battery has died and I was wondering how to replace it (or 'refresh' it if this is possible, which I don't think it is...). It would also be helpful to know a technique for finding out the voltage/amperage of the old batteries so I can fix it without blowing the electronics. Pictures would be attached but the uploader isn't working right now; I'll get them up as soon as possible. Thanks guys,

Commands needed in R language?

Hello everyone I hope that you are fine. Because I am starter, I am facing difficulties in figuring out commands that do the following: Find the sample mean M and sample standard deviation S Build the histogram. Find if the shape of the distribution is close to normal or not. Add to the histogram plot the line corresponding to the probability density function of the normal distribution using obtained mean and standard deviation. Set up a 95% CI for the sample mean, using your values of M,S and N Use the temperature (tempc and tempf) data given in the excel sheet. You can download the excel sheet from following link: https://app.box.com/s/8uw6os46iibmx4n5t21q Kind Regards raishikoh

Mod a mini R/C?

Hey all, I recently started looking into modding some of the stuff i have lying around and I came across an old mini r/c car that are only about an inch long. (see photos) Anyways i got down into it, but I really don't know what I'm doing, i was just wondering if anyone could come up with a mod for it. so far I've managed to hook the little r/c car to a plug so that it had a constant electric supply, which kinda defeats it's purpose, but was good to figure out anyways I thought. Thanks! (despite the fact I googled for the image and took one of the first 5, this actually is the exact model I have. surprisingly convenient, thanks google!)

R/C Car Robot

I have an old rc car that i wanted to make into a robot for my graduation project. I want it to be able to sense a possible threat (wall, tree, person, other car) and be able to drive without help of a remote control. I have a NXT Intelligent Brick (meant for Legos) it has a 32-bit ARM7 microprocessor. Support for Bluetooth wireless communication. 1 USB 2.0 port. 4 input ports. 3 output ports. Powered by 6 AA (1.5v) Batteries, not included, or lithium Rechargeable Battery (#9798), sold separately. Up to three NXT Bricks can be connected at the same time; however, you can only communicate with one NXT Brick at a time. This is the individual component, and does not include any sensors, motors, cords, software or other accessories; for the complete LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT set, please see item #8527. Do you think it is possible to get it to work? Also if you have ideas please tell me.

Erase a dvd+R using software

Ok so we all know its possible to write a dvd+r up to the limit. (one time only of course) So if it can write data once, that why cant we have it ignore the data or headers and just write all 1's or just random garbage to the disk to destory it? It actually sounds cooler than breaking it... If there is software than please provide a link (if its free/open source)

Help on R/C plane workings

This is my first time on the site and first time with trying to build a rc anything.  My mind is so scrambled due to constant searching online and I still don't know where to start. First, I thought of building a brushless motor.  Seeing some online looks awesome.  Just some wire, rod and a magnet to a battery.  But I do not know the size of battery nor  how the size of the wire will change my project. Second, it would be fun to have my PS2 controller, control the heli or plane I choose to build. Is this possible. Third, can I use a motor from a cheap heli in a plane and have control over the speed? Lastly for now, is there a way to figure what motor I need if I was going to build a slow flyer vs a outdoor micro flyer?  I have been looking at weight mostly and don't know if I need to be that concerned. Please help if you dare to take me on as a challenge case.

R/C Drift car from scratch?

Hi Everyone! I happen to just have bought a very cheap and very disfunctional R/C Drift car. I am now thinking of either making one from scratch or modifying my present one. If you're an rc enthusiast, arduino programmer, electronics hobbyist, or just someone who happen to have some spare parts that you don't need that I may need, feel free to say something. My present Drift car is ,btw, a Flash and dash Race tin. It has two sets of wheels, one for drifting, and the other for racing. I am unsatisfied with this because it always swings its back like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR8wg24AyJI  Look in 0:32 to 0:34. Its bad enough that I don't know how to drift. Please feel free to comment ,suggest, or give a tip so I can mod my present one or make another one with variable speed and turn. My present one doesn't allow this.

arduino code stalls in mid program?

I'm using a rotary encoder, and to test it, I wrote a program with an interrupt on pin two that counts (with a state machine for the direction and two parts per cycle), but whenever I spin the encoder too fast, the program simple stops sending values.  Its running on an uno with a FTDI friend (becaust the serial chip on the board itself is fried), with a 32 cycle per revolution encoder on pins two and seven.  The encoder is standard quadrature, with an optical pickup and slotted disk.  It works fine normally, the problem only occours when it's spun too fast.  I will need it to spin quickly for my application.   I tried closing and reopening serial communications, and it didn't help, I have to reset it to make it work again. here's the code: #define ENCA 2 #define ENCB 7 int r = 0; float pos = 0; void setup(){   Serial.begin(9600);    pinMode(ENCA, INPUT);    pinMode(ENCB, INPUT);    digitalWrite(ENCA, HIGH);    digitalWrite(ENCB, HIGH);      attachInterrupt(0, epos, CHANGE); } void loop(){ delay(1); } void epos(void){   r = 1;   if(digitalRead(2) == HIGH){    if(digitalRead(7) == LOW){      while(r == 1){        delay(0.1);        if(digitalRead(2) == LOW){          r = 0;        } else {          if(digitalRead(7) == HIGH){            pos = pos + 0.015625;            r = 0;          }}}                                     }    else {      while(r == 1){        delay(0.1);        if(digitalRead(2) == LOW){          r = 0;        } else {          if(digitalRead(7) == LOW){            pos = pos - 0.015625;            r = 0;          }}}    }    Serial.println(pos); }else{   r = 1;    if(digitalRead(7) == HIGH){      while(r == 1){        delay(0.1);        if(digitalRead(2) == HIGH){          r = 0;        } else {          if(digitalRead(7) == LOW){            pos = pos + 0.015625;            r = 0;          }}}                                     }    else {      while(r == 1){        delay(0.1);        if(digitalRead(2) == HIGH){          r = 0;        } else {          if(digitalRead(7) == HIGH){            pos = pos - 0.015625;            r = 0;          }}}    }    Serial.println(pos); }}
