Heli

I want an rc helicopter that is reasonably priced, easy to manever (the type that you can go forward and backward, up and down, not too touchy, etc.) tough (i am a beginner, so i crash alot) has a long battery life (unless it's a gas) weather proof (will not get blown so easily by the wind) and if it's outdoors a reasonable size (i want to make a bombay door or something so i can drop stuff

replacement transmitter for an rc helicopter?

So i bought a rc heli from a thrift store and it turns on when the switch is flicked, but it came without the transmitter/controller for it, i checked the hobby shops and they said that they don't have any spares for it it says on a sticker that the heli is a 27MHz, so i was wondering, if i got a transmitter that was designed for helis and ran on the same frequency, in theory it'd work, right? can anyone lend me some advice?

havoc=picco z=venom micro rescue?

Im pretty sure that the "havoc heli" and the "picoo z" are the same. the back of the box both say "silverlit", and the helis both look exactly alike. pleez give me your feedback on what ya think. thanx. edit: i found this thing at towerhobbies.com called the venom micro recue, and it has the same exact rotors and IR controller.

Carbon Fibre Rotor Blade

I wish to construct a pair of 70cm long carbon fibre rotor blade for my rc helicopter. The inner part of the blade is hollow to reduce weight. I understand that I need to make a two-piece mould out from a sample blade, with some kind of rasin. Any idea or suggestion is very much wellcome. Thanks to all for sharing.

Converting an RC Helicopter to a wired one.? Answered

Hello all, I am currently involved in a competition for my school and my question is as follows. We are utilizing an RC Helicopter and I was wondering if it is possible to convert one to a wired one? As in there is a physical wire connecting the controller and helicopter and it is using that rather then and frequencies to control it. The reason being there is going to be a huge amount of students also using RC Helicopters and we wish to eliminate any possible interference.

Can I use a RC TOY transmitter to control an advanced receiver?

I have one of those micro rc cars. The car died and I'm experimenting with its parts. I was wondering if it's possible for a simple Tx ,like this one, to control an advanced Rx connected with a Brushless ESC. By simple I mean single speed(forward without ESC) and with advanced those used for example in rc helis(advanced tech, many ch). I am definitely talking about the same Quarz crystal controlled frequency. Thanks you.

spy aircraft

Is there a RC plane or aircraft, (like helicopters or hovercrafts) that can carry a camera and drop a payload. This would be great for pranks or dropping weapons for allies in an airsoft war, maybe even shoot airsoft bb's, that would be awesome. If you know how to make at least the first two or know a product that can do that tell me.

Heavy aerial lift quadcopter?

Hi, I am in a local competition where they are asking for a quadcopter that can lift a box of lead. The box weigh's 25kg. Yes, you read that right 25 kg. The rules state that it must be a quadcopter and it must fit in a meter by meter by meter cube. This limits the prop size to 500mm diameter unless the height of the blades is different so they overlap. I would prefer not to do this. each rotor must lift 7000 grams (payload + weight of quad). I have been using this thrust calculator : http://personal.osi.hu/fuzesisz/strc_eng/ and according to it a 500mm (20") at 4.5" pitch (I just put that as standard) will need to spin at 6000 RPM to produce 7.12 kg of thrust. It also says it will need an 800 Watt motor. I plan on using these motors http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__24433__NTM_Rotor_Drive_450_Series_1700KV_930W.html. They are 930 watts and 1700kv. they run on a 6s lipo. A 6s lipo is 22.2 volts. 22.2 X 1700 = 37,740. 37,740 RPM is the theoretical speed of the motor. I only need 6000 RPM. 37,740 / 6000 = about 6. so the motor has an 8 tooth gear on it and the prop has a 42 tooth gear on it. This makes a roughly 6:1 ratio to slow down and power up the rotor. The motor is 30A constant current, 42A burst. The ESC will be this one http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__25366__Turnigy_Multistar_45_Amp_Multi_rotor_Brushless_ESC_2_6S.html and the battery will be this two of these: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9176__Turnigy_5000mAh_6S_20C_Lipo_Pack.html.          When I started writing this I had a question that I answered myself but now I just want to know if you see any faults with this. PS, the winner of the competition is the one who can hover the longest. I also want to do it for as cheap as possible

Potential $5 RC Hovercraft

Hey y'all, I was bored, so I made this RC hovercraft, kinda like a Tiny Whoov, from the guts of a $5 RC helicopter (sold at most FiveBelows). The idea is that a hovercraft is more fun than a cruddy helicopter, in addition to being a fun and easy DIY project for the weekend. It could be a nice gift to a kid. My first concern was that the motors would not provide enough power to get the thing moving. They give more than enough power, and this thing can MOVE. My second concern is that the differential thrust steering system (one motor turns faster than the other, steering the hovercraft) would not be effective enough. This is still a problem that I don't have the enthusiasm or time to solve anymore. Maybe someone could figure out how to reprogram the FC board to have more differential thrust (is that possible?), or somehow configure a servo or actuator without raising the cost of materials too much. Anyway, here's the concept, go have fun with it.Supplies:Foam platesHot glue$5 RC helicopter with 2 motors and receiver (LED optional, but really cool)Connector (the battery might be soldered directly to the FC board, so this will make it easier to fiddle with)Soldering iron (not %100 necessary, but it can come in handy)Propellers (see design notes)Design notes:Notice how the underside of the hull is curved and smooth. I used propellers from a Blade Inductrix FPV Pro, but any micro quad propellers should work. Notice the nice little compartment under the FC board where you can stick a battery without the need for Velcro or glue. This would be a very easy FPV mod, but that would add about $20 to the cost.

RC helicopter cinematography

Both RC helicopters and DSLRs have shown some amazing advances and when they're combined the results are amazing. Eric Austin has a company called Heli Video that specializes in this with a helicopter-mounted Canon 7D and the footage rocks. With a free-roaming helicopter he can get shots that swoop in and out and then look down from above without any need for a crane or anything else. There are also no mistakes allowed as a crash means several thousand dollars worth of gear get wrecked. Check out the first video to see what this technique can do and the second for a view of the helicopter at work. via Core77

Hirobo XRB Remote control helicopter

I have a Wireless remote control twin blade helicopter for sale. This is not the cheapo mini copter you see on Ebay. This is an hirobo XRB, cost me $400 new still have the reciept. Comes with xtra rotor blades, remote, 2 Lipo batteries. I have cut some of the plastic away to make it lighter in weight. The X and Y axis are adjustable on the heli and the radio. It flew great 1 year ago, The blades are a foam composite, ( you can buy carbon fiber ones online.) The colars where the blades mount are broken, so if you want to use it as the heli you have to purchase new ones from Hirobo, couple bucks I assume. Or you can use it for whatever you want to, everyone in this community is quite creative, I however am not. I'll try to post pics. Someone can build some cool stuff with this. Make me an offer

Help on R/C plane workings

This is my first time on the site and first time with trying to build a rc anything.  My mind is so scrambled due to constant searching online and I still don't know where to start. First, I thought of building a brushless motor.  Seeing some online looks awesome.  Just some wire, rod and a magnet to a battery.  But I do not know the size of battery nor  how the size of the wire will change my project. Second, it would be fun to have my PS2 controller, control the heli or plane I choose to build. Is this possible. Third, can I use a motor from a cheap heli in a plane and have control over the speed? Lastly for now, is there a way to figure what motor I need if I was going to build a slow flyer vs a outdoor micro flyer?  I have been looking at weight mostly and don't know if I need to be that concerned. Please help if you dare to take me on as a challenge case.

Can i use an old wireless mouse rc transmitter to switch something close range on&off?

Hi guys, having a bit of trouble figuring this out. I'd like to use an old wireless mouse with a nano receiver/transmitter from my laptop.  I'm a bit of a newbie so thats why i cant figure it out.. :-#  so the exact project is this.  Im trying to build a foam drone/heli with some electromotors  from a broken trimmer and such. Cool thing would be if i can switch this on/off wireless. Any other tips/tricks/hacks/goodtolookat are welcome.  Thanks in advance!

Need a clock pulse switch circuit!

I cannot not for the life of me figure out how to make this circuit.  The circuit needs to do this: I push a button that sends a single signal to the circuit.  With each push of the button the circuit activates a seperate relay in sequence.  I need 6 relays to activate with 6 button pushes in sequence.  I know this is a very simple circuit to design.  I just can't figure it out nor find out how to make it. I'm not sure what the voltage of the relays coil should be.  My goal is to make bottle rockets launch off of my RC helicopter.  I'm going to use a 9vdc power source, a couple capacitors and some nichrome wire.  The relays are there so that each rocket launches seperately.  Hense the need for the circuit.   So with each push of the button on the transmitter...a seperate rocket is fired.  Thanks for any help ya'll.
