Hey everybody. First, take a look at this question's best answer - https://www.instructables.com/answers/How-can-I-make-a-9-volt-shocker/ It tells you how to make a 9v shocker out of a CRT monitor's flyback transformer. I really like the idea and I just have an extra monitor at my friend's house, so I thought about trying it. I saw some videos of people messing around with flyback transformers, and it really looks dangerous. If I follow the guide on the link, and get the shocker to work, will it be dangerous? I'm gonna use it for pranks and self defense(I'm a HUGE fan of knives and I know how to use them, but they're illegal to carry here and can cause serious injury), will it be ok? Thanks a lot, Mike.

Does anybody know where an instructable is that shows you how to make a device that shocks people. No badly, the kind of shock when a friend offers you bubble gum. When you pull at the gum it shocks you. ?????

Im trying to make a killer joy buzzer like the one that The Joker uses, ive been twisting my head around it for a while and i think i have the propper electrical map, but i cannot figure the voltages or if im missing any component or having an extra component (not needed) i want the resulting shock to be 40 v. i am hoping for the comunity to help me get this done, and i would post an instructable about it, because i havent found one here, not yet ;) so i await for your sugestions and answers to my predicament. thanks until now ive got: three 9v batteries conected through a caliber 22 cable to a switch, then to a 12v buzzer and then the contacts...ill upload the scheme later

I was wondering if anyone knows how to build a shocker hooked up to a timer? Or at least how to hook up a timer to a shocker? If anyone can show me how to hook a good, strong shocker to an electronic timer, i'd be grateful. I already have a timer and i can post pics of it's insides if anyone wants a look, it's the one i plan to use. I was hoping to rig it up to the world's smallest shocker. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I am looking to build a really miniature, low-output shocker device and I've come a bit stuck. The instructables that I have see here all seem to dispense shocks of about 400v and I think they are too painful for what I have in mind, though I don't really know (if you know better then please tell me, you may make my life easier :) ). I'm looking for the device to be able to deliver no more than a distinct nip, and be about the size of a Cr2032 cell. I also would like a miniaturised power source like that. Can anyone tell me if this is possible and point me in the right direction as to parts and where to get them (I'd like to salvage as many parts as possible because I'm on a tight budget). Well, not really, but I am going to make and sale tiny shockers on ebay soon, I just need a few questions before I start making, and selling them.Do you wanted the shocker naked (Like in the picture below) and make your own container for them?Do you want the shocker to be packed up in a film canister or box container with a battery holder and a switch?And the most important of all - How much are you willing to pay for them? Does it matter what type of diode is used to make a small electric shocker because on the tutorial I found they use one from a camera but I'm just buying/using parts I already have 

Does this work and not kill anything? I have 2 coils, other has 15 loops of wire and the other 10 000, if i use them to make a transformer and i attach a 9 volt battery to it it outputs about 6000 volts? Now, if i take the wires and shock myself with them will i get a shock without any serious damage? I dont have access to any serious capacitors for the time that i need so would this work?

A few days ago, I had built two really tiny electronic shockers, they are smaller than a penny... The shockers I had built, they operate on a 1.5v battery and gives out about 450v at short circuit of 18mA.So, what I am really asking is "is this the world's smallest electronic shocker?", I had done some research about if they are any electronic shockers that is smaller than mine, but I did not find any results... So I am asking you if you know any electronic shockers that is smaller than mine...Also I gave my shocker some more input voltage to see what happens... When I gave it 3v, it gave out about 900v (wow!). And at 4.5v input, it gave out about 1200v (BIGGER WOW!!!). I want to know how much voltage it gives out if I had given it 9v power, but I cannot risk doing that, because I might break my multimeter (it can measure maximum 1000v), I will have to build my self a high voltage probe...Heres the instructable... I need help. i want to make a shocker without the capacitor. on the camera circuit board. do i just touch the two + and - sign where the capacitors ar charged?? i tried and it didnt work. i know plasma has one but it tried and i cant get those damn parts soldered. is it possible to do this> i have been shocked before doing this, but i dont remember how i did it.

Im trying to make a few of the "worlds smallest electronic shocker(s)" posted up by plasmana but couldnt get a 5 pin transformer out of the cameras i obtained. I did get 6 pin transformers and wanted to find out if i could use these instead of the 5 pin ones.

If i were to take the igniter out of a butane grill lighter and hook it up with wires i would have to put a capacitor in order for it to HOLD a charge correct? Cause i beleive without any extras it will just make a shock when pressed?

Would anyone know about attaching a small mercury switch to a world's smallest shocker 2.5 (https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-build-the-worlds-smallest-shocker-wLED/). I'm trying to make it so every time the switch is in a resting state the WSS is on and every time the switch is tilted the WSS is off. It's essentially a pedometer/torture device that i'm building. Also, does anybody know where to get a small mercury switch or equally sized alternative, as I know the switch is quite controversial in some parts.

What is the thread size on the NXT Shocker paintball marker feedneck ?

My smallish dog steals my watch and other things from counters.  A very light shock would be sufficient; I would use a 9 volt battery by itself but I want the pulsing action of an r/c/transformer circuit.  All the shockers I've found here are too harsh. Any suggestions, especially how to vary the amount of shock?

I've tried twice to make it work and used to troubleshooting methods on both and STILL nothing is working. Does anyone know of other instructions to make a shocker just as compact and strong?

The transformer its self has 4 cables. Two of them were the high voltage input and the other two were the output(i am not sure because i took it appart a couple of time ago).  I also have a 5 cable transformer that was used by a battery charger.Two cables for input here as well and three for output(i also don't rememeber well for this one too). P.S please go easy on me because i am novice on electronics. Thank you very much.

I can't seem to find a 5-pin transformer but I do have a 4-pin one. Could someone please post schematics or an instructable or tell me how to make one using the 4-pin? Any help is appreciated.

I happen to have a broken CFL lamp. I took it apart because i wanted to harvest the components that the electronic ballast contains.So how does a DC to AC CFL inverter look like? And how can i use the transformer and the inverter in order to make an electric shocker(battery powered)? Note that i also possess 2 other transformers from Kodak disposable cameras(one of them has 4 pins as the CFL's transformer and the other 5 pins) Thanks in advance.

My friend has this thing that looks like a pack of gum and when you grab and pull the piece sticking out it shocks you, it isn't really that powerful, but I want to make a better one.  I opened it up and it is a fairly simple device.  It has three button cell batteries with the negative side attached to a contact plate and the positive attached to the capacitor.  The capacitor has the neg attached to the same plate as the batteries negative.  The only problem is that the positive plate is attached to a third prong on the capacitor.  Why would a capacitor have three?  I have tried charging a 220 uf cap. with a 9v battery, but it doesn't deliver any shock even though it should be higher voltage and capacitance than the original device.

I was making world's smallest shocker but i broke down a part called "5 pin Transformer" and i find it on net but it is very costly there. 10$........!!!! I live in India and i want someone who can give this part for low cost to my home,

 i want to make a shocker but I'm not sure which transformer to use. if it is too high, it might injure someone badly, but if its too low, you wont get much of a shock. i am using a square wave oscillator and i am planning to add a transformer to it to give it more zap

In an attempt to provide a rather "interesting" christmas present as a joke for a colleague i have assembled an remote controlled electronic shocker device ( perfectly safe almost no current at all) by wiring an electric shocker of a design i am familiar with making so that it's power is provided by wires which previously went to the motor of an RC car( i intend to do an instructable on how it was built, if i get it to work!). the arrangement is constructed from the charging circuit of a disposable camera with the capacitor chopped off and replaced by the electrodes that will connect to my receiver's( my colleague) hand,  the AA battery has been replaced with a remote controlled power supply ( same voltage and ampage as an AA battery)system. Enough on what i have built( unless you need more details to help me), here is my problem. I had originally intended to place the shocker in a small box and attach each output high voltage wire to a tin foil half wrapped over half of the box( i would cover the join with a ribbon) the plan was that when someone picked up the box their hand would form a connection across the tin foil halves and therefore their hand would be acting as a resistor in a high voltage circuit so a (very tiny less than 0.25 milliamps) current would pass through it( whether the voltage is applied across the two halves can be controlled by a remote hidden in my pocket so when other people pick up the parcel they get no shock). but i have found that ,although the output wires are at a high enough voltage to shock someone, the resistance of the tin foil means that the remaining voltage to go across the person's hand is not enough to shock them. ALSO the shocker will work across about a centimetre of skin ( like touching both wires with the tip of the same finger) but when the contact points are as far apart as a whole hand( like thumb to last finger) the increased resistance of the hand means that the current is so small that i cannot even feel a tingling when i test it( i had a few (willing volunteer)friends who are working on this with me also test but it could not shock them either). so my problem is that i must either find a much lower resistance form of contacts to coat the halves of the box( i have no means of using expensive materials or ones that need to be heavily worked on before attaching( like metal plates that must be attached to each face of the box)) or a ( very quick and simple, i only have about a half an hour slot of time to do any soldering before the party ) way to boost the voltage ( i was thinking of attaching extra batteries but suspect this would not work and also am unlikely to get an opportunity to do much electronic alteration) or ( most promisingly) must find a way to house some very bulky parts in a housing where i can guarantee that my colleague will touch both electrodes with one finger without suspecting anything until he gets shocked( this needs to be something like the switch on a torch rewired so that the electrodes are on the switch or whatever, or any other gift where the "obvious" thing to do is put a finger on a certain metal point for some reason( preferably when picking the present up)).  I have already addressed any safety concerns so please do not criticise me for this as electric shocks are harmless provided the current is low enough and does not cross the heart.( i have a very low current with both electrodes on the same hand on top of which it only shocks when i press a button on the remote). ALSO please do not suggest i rebuild the whole circuit as i know that the circuit works fine and i do not have time to build it all again or do any serious modifications, THANKS  any answers would be appreciated, THANKS i think i have found  solution,it is really awesome and involves placing a battery in parrallel with the power lead into the shocker from the remote control system. i am not sure why it is working but i suspect some effects similar to capacitors are involved, the really weird thing is it does not shock you when you grab the box but rather when you pull your hand away. incase i find any other problems this thread is still open to suggestions and ideas for other solutions, assuming the system works perfectly after i have soldered my modifications in place( a few days time before i get a chance to use a soldering iron) then i will no longer need any help( providing nothing else goes wrong). thanks for reading all of this.

I just make shocker from 9 volt battery,but it's use transformer so it's must be pulsed,can i make it with transistor? Don't tell me if using 555 timer,because it's very hard to find 555 timer,Thank you...

I want to make a shocker, and after reading something here I'm considering just leaving the capacitor out of the camera charging circut for safety. The capacitor has writing giving away the ratings on it, and I simply need to know that I won't kill my buddy with it. Oh yes, and would the charge of an AA battery ran through the circut be enough to shock someone?

Hello, in plasmanas instructable, how to make the worlds smallest electronic shocker, he does not mention anywhere the part numbers of the components, and only asumes that all camera components are the same, which i have now discoverd are not. anyways, recently i have built this tiny shocker 5 times, 2 times i used no solder as i was puzzled as to why it wouldnt work, all 5 times it didnt work. now, recently i discoverd that the 5 pin transformer used has 200-300 ohms of resistance between pin 4 and 5, and i have discoverd, that every single transformer i have pulled from a camera, does not, wheras infact it has 0.4 ohms. now unless his results are innacurate, this tells me that his transformers are totally different to all of the ones i have. and i have quite alot, even ones from polaroid cameras, supposedly the only ones that actually work. now, what i want to know, so i can get them on ebay, what are the part numbers or serial numbers of the transistor and the  5 pin transformer it seems impossible to harvest the correct ones from anything other than a single type of polaroid camera sold apparently only in america as luck would have it. otherwise, if no-one knows what the part numbers are, are there any other types that would work?

I have a transformer step down from 250 to 100v... want to make a bowl of sugarwater for ants and then every 3 mintes or so i should shock all the ants that are drinking...poisen doesnt work..ants can smell it....grrr what should i do now.. thanks

Hey everyone i was wondering if someone could help me, I have a capacitor row (as shown below) and i was wondering what i could do to make it a shocker type thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have just started a new electronics project that i have been thinking about for ages. this is the basic idea, i am going to give someone a christmas "present" at a party which will , when i press a remote button, deliver a small 450 volt shock( very low ampage, i've made shockers before). i am disassembling a remote control car and will fit either a relay connected to the shocker circuit or perhaps the shock circuit itself to where the motor was. assuming all works correctly it should be very funny, i will be working on an instructable of how it was done. thanks for reading, tell me what you think.

Hello! I was wondering how to use a transformer to step-up volage. I got one of those shocker fly swatters and took it apart, and saw that it used a couple of transistors, capacitors, and the main thing, the small 5-pin transformer. How does it work? How can I increase the voltage? 

I'm in need of a way to recharge a capacitor ( or more ). The disposable cameras circut is trashed ( it didn't work even before then w/ the right setup ), and I can't afford another. Is there some way to avoid the circut in favor of a more direct route? I need to recharge it for use as a shocker or coil gun, and have an AA battery holder as my power source as well as a switch to fire. Please help.
