Hey guys, I was on xbox live the other day and I saw an avatar of an xbox controller in an NBA style logo. It's where the center image is totally white, and there's a blue background on the left, and red background on the right. Then I thought to myself, "It would be awesome to have robot there in the middle.", so I did some paint editing, and came up with some different variations. Let me know what you guys think, because when I get some decent transfer paper, I might make one into a t-shirt. You guys edit them to your liking. I could have done a bit better, but didn't get very far in paint, and I'm not very coordinated in gimp. So if you guys make other variations, I'd love to see them, post a pic! Hope you guys like them!, Gunk on Floor

I hate sports on TV. In math class today, we were talking about how some major league baseball player who gets paid at least 1 Million dollars per year has a batting average of .235, which is pretty lame. Why the heck do people pay tickets or watch TV just to see average people play baseball or basketball or any sport actually? In that case, why don't people pay to watch kids play basketball in the gym or to watch adults play softball in their free time? It's the same thing, the only thing that the people who play sports in their spare time don't have is a huge corporation backing them up and putting their faces on TV. Secondly, it gets in the way of programs I want to watch. I turn on the TV at the advertised time to watch Family Guy, which was at 7:00, and instead I get to watch a baseball game with sub-par action. I don't really care about who won what game, and I don't see how this is any different from sports games that adults play out of their spare time. To make it worse, kids at school just talk and talk and talk about the sports games. Shut the hell up people! I don't care about the games, I don't care who won, I don't care about that pass or slam dunk, stop wasting my time. Boycott sports. Don't buy tickets, don't watch games, and DON'T BUY ANY TEAM JERSEYS THAT STORES HAPPEN TO SELL!

Our cable company is terrible. We've tried getting satellite (directv) but there is a big tree in the way and we rent so we can't do anything about that. You can get good quality versions of all of the actual shows that we watch online somewhere (directly from the network's website, hulu, etc). And watching them that way gives you all of the convenience of having a DVR - watch whenever, rewind, fast forward, pause, etc. Also, our TV has a PC input (which we use frequently). So I was thinking of getting a cheap computer to leave hooked up to the TV and set it up to easily navigate through shows. That way we could get rid of our EXPENSIVE and CRAPPY cable. The only problem is sports. I couldn't care less about them but I live with my boyfriend, who loves hockey. Hockey is the hardest sport to watch with low resolution (the puck is tiny! I can't find it in HD sometimes). It's also never shown on the local channels (so no option of the cheapy cable or using some kind of antenna). NHL.com has a subscription you can get to watch online but it won't show you games if it's available on your local cable. So basically - does anyone know of a good place online to watch live (preferably free and good quality) sports? Hockey is the most important but also football/baseball/basketball. Any help would be appreciated!

The report needs to be a How-To speech on playing cricket. Basically how to be safe when playing, what stores to get it from, what equipment you need, and how to play and understand the game. It has to be 5-6 minutes long which means it has to be brief but make the audience understand fully by the time I'm done. Any help would be most awesome. thanks

Looking for someone who can make a agility/reaction timer or make the plans for it so it can get to work. Found on YT (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=820YiXvPF9I (after minute 10') Great for sports like badminton. One controler that choose the direction left/right and times the reaction-time. Timing is optional for me.... Found it also in Japan on internet www.onigoe.net But making one with flashing light with adjustable timing. Random left/right. Anyone?

I saw this video of a Japanese game show where players try to play a game of soccer with binoculars strapped to their heads: It made me think: what other kinds of games could you have, where your own perceptions were the challenge? Fisheye lenses over each eye? Periscopes? Let's hear some ideas; maybe we can come up with some cool, brand-new Instructable ideas.

Hi hi, i have an old pair of cyclist's leg warmers. they have lost some of their elastic action, and they fall down almost straight away. I went and bought some new elastic to sew onto them, but also wanted to stick some gripper stuff on the inside. The gripper stuff is found on most knicks and cycle shorts now; it's some sort of silicone or rubber that grips to your leg. I don't know what exactly it is, so didn't want to go out to the hardware store and just buy some tube of silicone, only to find out it irritates the hell out of my skin or just doesn't do the job. I tried a (big) sewing supplies store, but they had no idea what it could be. Can anyone help? I'm in Australia. I saw that in the states you can buy elastic with the gripper already on it, which is a bit of a pain. The gripper stuff is used by skiers and canoeists too... Cheers, Ben

I've got all this paint and gunk right in the nooks and crannies of the trigger and the frame, and the only way to clean it properley would be to remove the trigger. I haven't been able to find anything on this, and I don't want to experiment.

even though I don't normally sit down and watch "sports" of any kind (unless I am trying to pick up some pointers, like watching snooker, chess, or other tournaments), that compared to football in the USA, or baseball, the action was definitely more engaging. I mean, they actually moved around on the field, and for longer periods of time then 2-3 seconds. Our football is comprised of 1-3 seconds of movement followed by nearly 30 seconds or more of wondering about until the next play. Rugby to American football is like a cheetah is to a snail. If I am going to watch one of them, I will watch the cheetah :-)

I know the basic rules, and we'll play by hitting the ball off a tee (like in golf just much higher). It's for a sportsday of the whole college. Any class attends in two disciplines in a tournament against all ther classes and the teachers team. This year it's football and baseball. (last year was basketball and swimming, extremely funny). Now i'm pretty bad at the moment and i'm in my final year, so i don't want to be the jackass who screws up for the seniors :P I'm a pretty good runner on short distances and the field won't be huge (good advantage), but i'll need to hit the ball far enough to run, that is my major problem. (already read a tutorial from this side, but it wasn't that helpful), so i'm very glad for any tricks, ideas, instructions or whatever. thanks in advantage, oliver from switzerland (yes, the guys with the evil tax-stealing banks XD)
Listening to Silvio Rivier, the host of Global Village, there was a section on Hydrofoil Surfing. I turned to the television, interested by this large word, to see this guy surfing a foot above the water! It seems that instead of floating along the water like a normal surfboard this board actually would be below the water while you stand on it. A jet ski pulls the surfer up to speed, bringing him up to the top of the water, but that's not it, there's a fin that leads down a foot and a half or so below the board, and attached to the end of that is a special shaped piece of metal called a hydrofoil that collects the water as it comes up from the bottom of the sea and goes over as a wave. The surfer then keeps going upwards, until the "foil" is about 4 inches under the water. Therefore the surfer can balance above the water, with very little resistance & going very fast. It's technically possible that this could be used for surfing not just close to land, but hundreds of miles out, so the person can surf for as long as their legs hold out, because they can surf in rougher water. Does any body think they could build one of these? Balancing on one is supposed to be like using a uni-cycle, & I'm having trouble surfing normally so even if I did build this I probably couldn't ride it. This goes out to Laird Hamilton, the creator of this funky board, & I'm looking forward to an Instructable. Cheers everybody, ~K P.S. The links aren't working so I'll add them as soon as possible. Neither is the video button, sorry about that, I'll have to add a picture instead.

I have an idea for a new sport. If you combine golf with archery, you'd get Golfery! The concept is simple with only some minor modifications. Arrowheads now have a golf ball or ping-pong ball for a head. To get a hole in one, the player must hit the flagpole in the pocket. There are (3) 1 foot wide rings concentrically spaced around the flagpole. Inner ring = 1 stroke, middle = 2 strokes, outer = 3 strokes. If the arrow lands outside of the outer ring, the player must pick up the arrow and gently toss it underhand towards the pocket. Other than that, the standard rules of golf are followed. I don't have the equipment to test out my ideas. If someone here would try it out and PM me with the results and any suggestions that would be great.

Does or has anyone here played sports? Which sport did you play? Were you pro? I'm currently trying out for my football team at school, so if I make it, my Instructables usage will decrease sharply. Thank goodness it ends in November. Well, now it's your turn.

I once saw a local musician play the guitar and sing in a small venue. For one song, they dimmed the lights on the stage almost completely, and the sport coat he was wearing suddenly "switched on" and he had hundreds of tiny little light beads sewn into the jacket that you could not see before. They were not string lights, like for a Christmas tree. They seemed to be much more LED like, and bright, and most of all, small to the point of being invisible. I hate to be a copy cat... but I want to make a jacket like this too. I do not care if it is portable. i.e. if I have to plug it in, that's fine. Anyone have any ideas for where I might start?

PopSci is doing a roadshow called The Future of Sports Tour. You can learn about how science and technology are affecting the way we play and train. Golf, tennis, hockey, baseball and other sports keep evolving with the times and this is a way to see that in person. If you're in the SF bay area, New York, or Miami you can go and check it out.PopSci has also been nice enough to give us a bit of floorspace to show off three DIY games: Ladder Golf, Kubb, and Pringles Golf. You can see the games in person and see some footage of us playing them as well.If you're near any of these it should be worth the trip. And if not you can always make a set of your own and play at home!Dates:San Francisco (Great Mall) - July 18+19New York (Smith Haven Mall) - July 26+27Miami (Miami International) - August 2+3 Future of Sports Tour

I have a 200cc dual sport that has dual electric and kick start which i love for when i'm having charge/ battery issues or it's just reluctant to start on cold days. My sport bike is a zx7r with electric starter exclusively. Is there a practical way to add a kick start to this bike or (as i'm guessing) would it be way more time/ trouble/ money than it's worth?
