Why is it I always find this type of contest after I've made the gift without documenting the process and the gift is nicely wrapped? It is just sitting there mocking me saying "Unwrap me and simulate the construction. You want another Dremel. You know you do."

Just because you can it doesn't mean you should, WHY did anyone think it was a good idea to start having pictures wander over the screen, personally I just find it childish and annoying, but it blocks out all the text items as well making navigation difficult. So yeah cute trick, now grow up and stop messing about.

 Why is the home page always changing format?  It looks more ridiculous every time! I remember when I first joined how their was two collums of different instructables.  This format was easy to sort though and you didn't have to look through all the stuff you DIDNT want to see and you could click on the vast variety of things you DID want to see.  Today when I logged on there is only one column of things and I cant even sort out what is recent and what is featured.  Please change the format back instructables robot. It is a lot simpler and looks more professional. EB

I got home from school today and I log onto my old instructables acount (Matt1497) and I find out that it no longer exists. Please tell me why this is so! I had an instructable posted on it of which I took pride in. Sure I'd said some stupid/ignorant things on it but nothing that deserves being banned/deleted for! I bought a USB EXTENSION cable and it shows me USB malfunctions what is wrong

Going on my 2nd week...thats 14 days  of trying EVERYTHING I can find to get my Win xp pro 32bit - sp3 to see anything beyond the USBasp?   I've completely given up on trying to get the UNO direct USB hookup...I only get NEW DEVICE- USB2.0-SERIAL . Uninstalled-reinstalled- repeat with port changes and following the SAME directions posted all over the interwebs.  My DIYduinos have UNO and 2 with Deum'nove bootloaded and blink sketch installed when I purchased them....they give the blinkin LED when powered up. I've also had several unsuccessful attempts at the FTDI driver....the USB2.0 "official" drivers...the Arduino IDE USB driver..you name it...I probably tried it.  nothin' I'm no baby, but, I'm seriously on the verge of frustration tears!!  apparently I'm the only one who has this issue 'cause theres nothing I can find on it...the existing instructions out there are sooo frustrating in themselves as they just plug it in and there computer sees the UNO or whatever and they just go on from there...or stop after windows sees the USBasp programmer....I have THAT but, cant get any further with it. My Uno clone has a10 pin USBasp header on it...says right on it USBasp!...When I hook it all up, I get power on the board(s) from the USBasp programmer hooked to my comp...windows sees the USBasp but nothing attached...let alone a virtual com port arrangment. PLEASE anyone who knows what the issue might be or an educated guess is welcome too!!!  I'll send you Art!  or a 'duino with LM293D chips able to drive 2 stepper motors I've made!  if you solve it...you'll be rewarded somehow!!!

It came to my thought on day, why is the weather like this? Specifically why are temperatures that are present today happening in the following cities: Halifax, Regina, Ottawa, St. Johns. Thank you. p.s I am specifically looking for answers such as, The weather is so, because it is in the lowlands and so on.     :)

So I see a lot of projects with like 60 LEDs of the same type or something like that, and they use a separate resistor for each LED. Why do they do this? Why not just get one resistor and hook it up to ground or VCC? Please explain, thanks!

I know i need resistors for leds, i know how to calculate what i need, etc. etc. but what im wondering about is why. why arent leds like glowing bulbs, what makes the difference in needing the resistor. also, why cant 1 resistor take care for multiple leds at the same time? please, if ur answering my questions, make it understandable english. im not comfortable enough in the world of science to understand that kinda stuff... (otherwise i wouldnt be asking these questions :D )

In my PCB ,AC voltage is passes under the relays(R).. relays too become heat up.

I was trying to make an led light out of the bulb and a battery. I connected the - to the + side(with a paper clip) and put the bulb on the plus side. It worked, but after about 10 seconds, I took it off and the plus side was really hot. I am a newb at this stuff so please tell me why this happened.

It makes me wince when someone uses 'ible in the comments section of an Instructable. It just seems wrong, it doesn't make any sense, and it seems lazy. How did this come about? Who thought it made sense? Why did the A change to an I when someone was lazy and chopped off the INSTRUCT?

Since the staff changed the ratings paradigm, I've seen only one instructable with a rating of 4 or above. And I've personally rated a few with 4.5.... Why are we suddenly so stingy with our ratings? (Is it like the "negative rating" days? down-rating because we can?) Or is the new system weighted, also? (with views, etc., factored, too?)

Hey in my instructable Smart-Distance-Measuring-Tape-v2, I dont see the "posted on" date. I worked hard on this instructable and it din't get featured, so I commented on the clinic, where Ben Finio informed me about it. I think that may be a glitch and could be the reason why my instructable did not get featured.

Hi, I ordered a kit of assorted resistors (112 types, 10 of each), and it's awesome, however, some resistors are marked weirdly, like 1k8, 2k7, 1m8, 2m2, there's quite a few. What's the meaning of these?

I rarely bake.  I understand preheating a pan when cooking somethin like eggs- so they dont stick.  When I toss a squash or somethin in oven, it seems like preheat is silly. Y? N? M?

Hello world! I have a random issue that has been stumping my class since it began: the doorknob is warm. No other doorknob there is warm. There are a few other knobs in the room and they aren't warm, so I don't think it has to do with the heat difference. They aren't just a little warm, they are significantly warmer than other doorknobs. I'm in a room full of engineers and none of us have any idea why they're so warm!

I'm trying to upload my pictures for a new instructable but they wont uplaod! All it does is say "Could not upload file 'HPIM2302.JPG'. Please try again as it may simply have been corrupted in transit." I've tried uploading them at least 4 times but it won't work!

Hello All, I have setup the stage for the Firgelli actuator L12 -I, using an Arduino Mega + Adafruit Motor Shield (please take a look at pictures). I tested the circuit with a motor and the Adafruit "DC Motor" example code: it works. I then replaced the motor with the actuator using the same code: it does not work!! Insurance.  Why bother paying for it?  People say that by paying for insurance, you are protected and don't have to pay so much for repairs if something happens.  Wrong. Insurance companies do everything they can to not pay people. For example, in light of our recent burglary, mom went down to the insurance company we signed with to make a claim and get some money back.  However, we didn't get a single cent back due to a $1,000 deductible that applies to each individual item stolen.  Since none of the items stolen cost over $1,000, they didn't give us anything.  What really stinks is that when we signed up for their program, they had a $500 deductible, which applied to the total cost of everything stolen.  They basically jacked up their deductible, without notice to us.
