I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I would like to change version the image says. I want to change it in system information and System properties so it says I have Vista Ultimate. I would also like to change the welcome screen images? How do I do this? I have been searching on how to change this, but I can't find anything. I AM NOT TRYING TO GET THE FEATURES OF VISTA ULTIMATE OR TRYING TO ILLEGALLY MODIFY THE PRODUCT KEY OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL!!!! I just want it to say I have vista ultimate even though I don't.

I'm looking for ideas to make a fake window for my cubicle at work. Ideally, it would be lightweight and provide something other than the flourescent lights above. I really like the look of Bright Blinds (see attached photo). I'm thinking a DIY version of that with maybe a poster with a view behind the blinds? I'd love some input on how to go about this project! Thanks!

Hello, ever heard of bochs? Erm...bochs for psp? Well,It sucks instead you DOSbox because Dosbox runs approx 3 times faster than bochs. Dosbox starts in approx 10 seconds Boots windows 3.1 is about 10 seconds Boots windows 95 in about 1 minute, not 10 minutes I have a few scripts that start it they are: osrun.bat (asks the user weather to start win 95 or win3.1) 95run.bat (boots windows 95) 31run.bat (starts windows3.1) Should i make an Instructable for this? you know..setting it up..making the images and whatever FAQ: Q:y u put windos95 Y NOT VISTA???!!!111 A:because a psp does not have a 1.5GHz duo processor and 1GB+ of ram Q:what other oses can it run? A:You can run the following: dos(comes in dosbox) OS/2 Warp(has not been tested but theoretically it should work) Windows 1.0-3.11(windows 3.1 has been tested and others should work) windows 95(tested and works perfectly) windows 98(ive heard stories but i have not tested it it may work) It cannot run windows 2000 and up because it is unsupported by Dosbox and by far its unsupported by bochs. a bit more info: The psp PHAT can emulate up to about 5 Megs of ram Just 1 meg above what windows 95 needs and thats BARE MINIMUM!!! The psp SLIM can emulate up to 16.5MB of ram which is about the recommended amount of ram for windows 95 ALso the psp's processor normally runs at 222MHz but can run at the full 333MHz its underclocked so that the battery lasts long and don't worry you wont damage your psp by running at a full 333MHz it will just eat up a battery like i eat up a macadamia nut cookie. So should i make an instructable?

Hello, I have been trying to install c++ on windows 95 with 2 versions of Bloodshed Dev.cpp software, When I installed it things were fine, but when I try to run the app I get an error that says "A required .DLL file, SHFOLDER.DLL was not found." Another version of Devcpp also meant for windows 95 gave me an error about a missing .DLL. I believe these are vital to the OS files and since they are missing it is a bad sign. What should I do to make it work without messing up my computer? Thanks for your help.

If windows could be closed and opened automatically, it could extensively help regulate inside air temperature- a big boon to those of us with no AC. Coupled into a remote-control house, it might reduce electrical consumption and/or increase comfort extensively. I am imagining an add-on to the type of windows that slide up and down; seems the type that opens with a crank would be very easy to retrofit, but they aren't very common, and not very insulating, in my experience.

Hello, I am trying to automate the windows and doors in our barn using NEMA stepper motor and Lead screw and would like to exert around 20 Kg force for opening or closing. The windows are fairly old and made of wrought Iron. I am wondering if somebody can advise and help me selecting the motor (based on torque) and the appropriate diameter of the Lead screw for this instance. The idea being that when the lead screw rotates, the ball nut flange moves left or right and pushes the connecting rod out or in thus opening or closing the window I have attached a rough sketch what I had in mind and please pardon me for any mistakes. Many Thanks Ash

Hello. My desktop computer`s hard drive corrupted a while ago due to a power surge and rendered it unusable. After consulting a computer savy friend he said I would need a new hard drive. I have finally began to repair it, I have bought a new hardrive and was wondering can I use my original COA code from windows XP to clean install Windows 7? The reason I ask is that windows 7 is very expensive from new, however you can get the offical disks with supposedly working COA codes for half the price on ebay. They say they are from de-activated computers however I am worried I will buy one and the code will already be in use or invalid. So as a backup would my original code work or would it say it is still in use? (P.s I am not interested in getting windows 8 or 8.1, I cannot afford it) Thankyou :)

Hi folks. I'm designing a vent that will vent outside using a vent inside a plexiglass window. I don't know how to mount the sheet inside my chosen window. It's a modern window that has a screw type mechanism that takes the window away. I took the screen out, which just clips in, and expect to do something similar for the plexiglass item. I looked at some of the hardware available at Home Depot and couldn't find anything that would make this thing work. If anybody has any ideas, that would be great. Some pics

I have an aircraft window off of an Alaska Airlines Boeing 720. Trying to decide what to do with it. Any suggestions? I already have three other windows (from 737s) that have been turned into picture frames. So I'm looking for some other ideas. Also, I would prefer to keep the item intact, since the research with Boeing leads me to believe there are no others of this interior.Thank you!

If anybody could help me out that would be great... I saw plans for this a few years back but lost them. The idea is to use 4 laptop screens in a mock 4-pane window frame. There was a hard drive and power supply behind the frame that would put a picture up so you are looking at a different view everday like the Eiffel Tower, or Golden Gate Bridge, etc. Hang in an empty space on the wall and its like a fake window with a killer view!!! Sound like a potential favorite?

Thank you to those who gave me the ideas for plywood on my ceiling and walls. I am hopefully going to be starting that project in a few weeks. Work has not allowed me to do anything before now. My next dilemma is a window unit I have installed. I have an older model rv and when I purchased it the main ac was inoperable. I do not care to get it repaired. I have installed a window ac, but, can anyone tell me what is the proper way to insulate or proper insulation to use for the inside....Thank you, Thank you in advance :)

Recently I've been having an issue with the instructables news letter in the windows 10 mail application. The links in the body of the news letter don't all work. The larger featured links and the contest links allow me to click through tot he intructables site. The smaller individual projects don't do anything. It's almost like there is no link associated with them. This issue seems to be limited to the windows 10 mail application. If I open the e-mails on my android tablet, or in the MSN web mail application I can click through all of the links. I don't have any problems with any other messages in the windows 10 mail application. This is a recent development for the last 4 or 5 news letters. I used to be able to click through all of the links. It could have something to do with an update to the app but why do only some of the links work? Has any one else had issues with windows 10 mail and instructables? Thanks Frank

Wanted: circuit to open window at night when it is cooler outside than in. Close it when hotter outside in morn. Probably add something to prevent it from opening and closing several times in the eve and morn with random fluctuations. Prefer 2 thermostats, 1 outside, one in, rather than a timer. I've a vague recollection of a circuit with 2 potentiometers, one on the motor, one on the control panel, such that turning the control pot will activate the motor until its pot is at the same position as ctrl pot.. Could a circuit something like this control my window? But most thermostats are on/off, not continuous variable. It would be simple to do a switch logic thing like: “IF thermo ‘I’ is above 70 AND thermo ‘O’ is below 70, THEN OPEN “ but that only works at 1 temp.

Hey guys, time for another update of what I've been up to lately in my spare time. The other day I just finished a project, where I decided to take some scrap plexiglass and install it as a window in the top of my subwoofer, just like how more expensive pre-built subwoofer boxes have them. I tried to take pictures as I went along with it. Trust me, I may only have a handful of picture, but it took A LOT. Most of the hard work was chiseling the MDF board to fit a groove for the plexiglass to sit in and make a seal. P.S.: Chiseling MDF board is like chiseling cardboard, very easy to take too much out! Also, does anyone have any ideas as to HOW I could get some of the deeper scratches out of the plexiglass??? I'll be taking it apart to re-bevel the edge of the seal once I find the damn wood router, so when I do that I'd like to buff the plexiglass out a bit. Also, I think I own bragging rights for doing this.

I am trying to upgrade a Windows XP Pro system with Service pack 3 to a Vista Ultimate system with the end goal of then upgrading to Win 7. Again the intention is to do an upgrade, not a clean install. This particular OS started life as a Win 95 system. Was upgraded to Win 98 then 98 second edition and then finally to XP. It has run on multiple motherboards and processors and many many hard drives. But I have hit a snag. Vista ultimate will not give the option of upgrading. And by the way, this IS the upgrade version. It says so on the box and on the DVD. The option to upgrade is there but it is grayed out and a note says that it needs to do a clean install. If I wanted to do that I would skip Vista and go right to 7 to start with. So something is causing the install process to not want to make the upgrade. I am thinking it might be the service pack 3 of XP since the SP3 came out after Vista did. But I can't find any information about it. After all this is more than 10 years in the past. I am of course working off a clone drive so I can experiment and would just uninstall SP3 to try it but the uninstall is not available. As far as I can figure a repair was done using a SP3 disk of XP and that eliminated the uninstall. Now I can try doing a repair with a SP2 disk of XP in order to roll it back to SP2 but that might cause it to become unbootable and if not would for certain cause it to need to be activated again, which now will not happen over the internet but requires that you call somebody in India and read long strings of numbers back and forth to each other. I would hate to go through all of that and discover that it still will not upgrade. So the question is: is anyone familiar with this upgrade process and is there a way to force the upgrade option? By the way, I have both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Vista and the XP is a 32 bit version. So that should not be the problem. Any thoughts about this?
