Whats better, a Turion 64 X2 or a Athlon 64 X2?

I want to know because i have both of these, and my Turion 64 runs pretty hot, so if anyone can help me out here, it would be appreciated. they are both 1.9GHz dual cores, both 64 bit capable. What i want to know is, does the Athlon run cooler, and is there anything that puts it above the Turion?

Will this motherboard support a dual core CPU? Answered

I'm helping my friend do some upgrades on his computer, it's a Compaq Presario SR2034NX desktop. I'm wondering if it will support a dual core processor or not. According to HP, it doesn't, but looking around on the internet, I've seen quite a few people have upgraded to dual cores. However, there's some minor differences with this particular motherboard. It seems that there are actually two different types of motherboards with the same model number from Asus (A8M2N-LA). On the HP site they have different HP model numbers (a more advanced board - the NodusM3-GL8E, and the one I have - the Naos-GL6; both with the same A8M2N-LA number for Asus) It appears that the NodusM3-GL8E supports all sorts of fun things like 8 GiB of DDR2 800 RAM and dual cores up the wazoo. However, the Naos-GL6 looks like a stripped down version of the NodusM3-GL8E (two less RAM sockets, etc.), so it might not support a dual core. I'd like to know before purchasing, since Newegg won't accept processor returns for a refund. Also, 800 Mhz RAM would be nice to have, HP says it only supports 667 Mhz RAM but other people have put 800 Mhz in with no issues. Does anyone know if my friend's mobo will support a dual core and 800 Mhz RAM?

Good motherboard, for just starting custom builds?

Hi, I am relatively new to building custom computers. However, I feel like I know enough to actually build one. The first problem I'm having though is finding a good motherboard. I won't be doing a whole lot of hard core gaming, but probably a little(Halo, Fallout 3/New Vegas, MW2, etc...). So I would say I'd need the following specs(minimum, more is usually better): 4GB DDR3 RAM PCI Slot(s) 3 SATA devices(2 HDDs, 1 Disk Drive) 500GB HDD(s) AMD AM3 Athlon II x2 445 VGA & DVI I think I've found a good mobo to fit this bill: GIGABYTE GA-785GMT-USB3 Can anyone vouch for it, or offer a better suggestion?

If you could tell me where to look or who to contact for samples or tiny items, I would appreciate it. If you have any to get rid of, please send to Sue Clark, PO Box 851943, Richardson, TX 75085. Thank you so much.

Given the derivative of a function, how would you find the original function? Answered

I am trying to teach myself calculus, so I am asking this question. For example, given that the derivative of a function is 2x, you could use the d/dx [x^n] = (n)(x(n-1)) to guess that the original function was x2, but what would you do if you were told that x2 itself was the derivative of another function? Please help me. Note that I am NOT someone asking for homework help, my homework from school is not calculus.

A math challenge...

Ok, so there's this coding language called FCML- a simple language built for a scripting engine in a game (Fantastic Contraption). I'm wanting to write a script that implements the graph of an equation in the form of axn+b to that gaming language. To clarify, this is to create a "level", or a series of bricks, and fitting them along the line of a user-specified equation. The coding language is very simple:StaticRect (x1, y1), (x2, y2), zWhere x1 and y1 are coordinates on a Cartesian coordinate plane, x2 and y2 are lengths and widths of the rectangle, respectively, and z is the rotation of the brick. The brick is positioned with respect to it's center; i.e. it's center is positioned with x1 and y1. It's mathematically possible; it's just very confusing for a 7th grader. With a little calculus, trigonometry, and algebra I've come up with these formulas, and would just like to see what others come up with before implementing them.Input: y=axn90-tan-1(1/naxn-1) for z10 for y2root((axn-a(x-.5)n) + .25) for x2axn+.5(axn-a(x-.5)n) for y1x - .25 for x1I'm aiming for an accuracy of 1/2.

I have a project idea: LCD sunglasses. I'd need some really small screens, however. Can you buy 1"x2" LCD screens?

I am going to attempt to build LCD sunglasses. I know how an LCD works, with an internal polarizer and the liquid crystal itself providing polarizing in a different direction. I am planning to use an LCD screen for a sunglass lens, but I'll need both small and oddly shaped LCDs. Is it possible to cut LCDs down to size or shape? If worst comes to worst, I will just have square lenses, but the thing which would fit best would be 1"x2". Can you buy these?

I want to use bicycle wheels with the turn function of two at the back where I would steer and push from. I've searched all over the internet for 3 days or 5 hrs a day with no luck what so ever. Hope someone can help!

3d Scanning Howto? best recommended? DYI vs purchased

Hey gang! So, I am in need of some help. The end goal is to make some 1x1x1 or 2x2x2 inch figurines of my kids. ( Think DnD wizard with my sons face") as the end goal. Right now, I am wondering if anyone has any success with the Scanning side of things. Can you recommend a DIY 3d scanning solution? On Friday, I took my Nikon DSRL and put a 2"x2"x2" clay figuring on a rotating table and took some pictures, and uploaded it to 123d Catch. I took about 30 pictures and uploaded them. some where ignored because of lighting maybe. I have search for 3d scanning on instructables, and found quite a few, but it would be too costly to try them all, so I though I would ask in public chat if anyone has good success. (I know I can spend 1500 on the maker scanner, but thats crazy expensive for a toy) So putting this out there for anyone to help me out

Best way to wire "PlasmaGlow" "El Wire" together to a single ON/Off Toggle switch?

Application is for car interior. Plasma Glow sells their EL Wire in 5ft and 10 ft lengths. I currently have this set-up in my car: 10 ft dash board x2 10ft rear doors (a 10ft per door panel) x2 10ft front doors (a 10ft per door panel) X2 5 ft front doors (a 5ft per door panel) as you can see, that's 7 separate lengths of EL Wire! I WANT them all to be wired up to a single toggle switch. Both the 5 and 10 foot wires have a car plug (cigarette lighter type) and then have a "music box" that allows you to select the wire to be either solid on, or to pulse with music........... I DID splice 3 wires together by cutting between the plug and the box, but something burned out, or shorted so Im asking for all you electrical wizards to help me out. The included pictures show the plug and music box.... I want THE SIMPLEST way to wire these all up to a car's 12V DC battery. I have a 6 fuse holder, and could possibly use this??? I included the pictures of the music box open in case maybe someone can figure out why the EL Wire wont light up without it, or why it shorts out (whats the weak link?) and maybe can I wire all 7 wires up to one box? Once again, looking for the best possible solution.... im no wise guy and have absolutely no clue, so I hope u guys can help..... **Im using a RS illuminated toggle switch and have a voltmeter.... how do I test the resistance/ latency of ALL the wires hooked up to know the switch can handle them without actually messing anything up? Anyway.... thanks for your help..... im the mean time I will be installing a new polished chrome billet grille in my car when it arrives! Peace

It seems to only shutdown when i play games that require a lot of power like borderlands or SC2. It seems like it is from either an overworked GPU or it using too much memory. its got an AMD athelon x2 64 bit processor, an ATI radeon intigrated graphics card, and is running Windows Vista... and please no linux users telling me its because im running windows... i would rather be running ubuntu but i need more hard drive space. this is really annoying and any help that could be given would be appreciated. Thanks!

How can I use the parts from a broken Nintendo DS to upgrade my DS?

My friend gave me his broken DS, and since I didn't have any other way of taking it apart, I ripped it apart by the hinges. So now I want to know how I can do these things to my DS to make it better: Add a second battery socket to increase battery life x2 Add new speakers for double sound Add one screen to each side of the Touch Screen Put more buttons to enhance gameplay Add more LEDs for more signals Merge the two DS outer shells together to make a multi-colored DS Anything is appreciated. Thanks.
