I didn't see a Feedback category, so if this isn't in the right place, please move it. In Q and A, the line is "Don't be shy.....ask it." OK. And we've all heard that there are no stupid questions, right? But if ibles is trying to encourage honest (non-troll) questions, rating a question as "Worthless" has the opposite effect. Maybe the question has limited interest. Maybe few people view it. Maybe fewer people answer. These are neutral characteristics, and perhaps they are criterion by which someone judges the questions. To call a question "Worthless", however, is a real slap down and not in keeping with the idea of "be nice". I see that my questions are sometimes rated "Worthless," and, yeah, I feel bad when I see that. ( Maybe I'm too dumb for ibles? Maybe I don't measure up to ible standards? Maybe I'm not really welcome here??) I ask questions because I want answers, and this community is full of helpful people who have useful experience and good ideas. Despite the worthless ratings, I'm getting useful answers from the community and intend to keep asking. If only authors can see the ratings, is the intent to berate us into asking better questions? Constructive criticism might be more effective. If everyone can see the ratings, is the intent to guide readers away from "worthless" questions or to shame the authors into going away?

I FOUND IT ! After MUCH soul searching, I finally found my trigger and it is NO WONDER I was having a difficult time "coming to this conclusion" it is because the trigger itself was preventing me from admitting the trigger to myself LOL I think I shall go and Irony some shirts now ;-) FEAR ! The great negative motivator. I had failed at a few projects, and feared starting ANYTHING, for fear of another disappointment. Now, it really is simple; I came to this when I realized I was starting to come out of my depression, but not all the way, and was preparing and preparing, and gathering "intelligence" and info, but still delaying the start of the project......I always needed more INFO but only because I feared having the whole thing FLOP. It came to me this morning and I felt relief that NOW I can move past that, and get to work on changing it, because I have never feared failure in this way before. But then, I am getting old and doddering ;-)

Okay, these videos probably need some sort of context. Here's the context: my friends and I make script, film, and edit really bad movies in our spare time, and I am in a few of them. I thought I'd share them to you in all of their 'one-take-is-all-we-need' glory. The last video, 'Flagellant Affliction,' was scripted and directed by me, and it is truly, truly awful. My name is Andrew, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out who I am in these if you look in the credits, but I can give you a description: I'm the one with the raging acne and reddish-brown hair. I don't know if this can really be categorized as burning question, but it is what it is. This is a topic to post why you love Instructables and enjoy it so much. It is a pretty random topic, so I don't mind if there are random posts. What are you waiting for, tell the world why you love Instructables!

To build a suit like IRONMAN'S, Does the technology really exist and how would you begin and what kind a CAD software would you use to begin the design,To build an ARCH Reactor period let alone miniturize it? Does an ARCH reactor even exist or is it just a clever part of the comic book story line? And what about a repulsive ray? Does the techology exist , is it even feasible? Ad what about the head-up display that was in the suit ,and could it be hooked to a satellite computer for ground to air GPS, and how would you write the code for the software to hardware that does as of yet exist?

Hello everyone, I'm not very active here and I think this is my first post on the forums... I just wanted to say how I really like the fact that there are No on Prop 8 banner ads on Instructables. :) But since we're on this topic now: How do you feel about Proposition 8? (If you don't know what Prop 8 is, it's the "Marriage Protection Act", it would amend the California constitution to say that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid and would make same-sex marriages unconstitutional.)

Ok, so hho has become the new fad in the mpg race, but is it really effective? Conservation of energy dictates that the energy required to separate water in to its base components is equal or greater to the energy released during its reconstitution. The key to making HHO a viable source of additional fuel would be utilizing the waste heat from the engine to provide the electricity needed. TEG's + exhaust manifold + water = ? Discuss!

Its Oct 31 and still no sign. I really want to see if the instructable I voted for won! Is my computer just late to get the results or does it take a long time to show the winners? No offense but you guys really should follow your deadlines better. (Please don't think im rude, Im really just wondering why its delayed so much) Anyway, Thanks for listening to my feedback

Hi all, I am looking to build a really miniature, low-output shocker device and I've come a bit stuck. The instructables that I have see here all seem to dispense shocks of about 400v and I think they are too painful for what I have in mind, though I don't really know (if you know better then please tell me, you may make my life easier :) ). I'm looking for the device to be able to deliver no more than a distinct nip, and be about the size of a Cr2032 cell. I also would like a miniaturised power source like that. Can anyone tell me if this is possible and point me in the right direction as to parts and where to get them (I'd like to salvage as many parts as possible because I'm on a tight budget). Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Hi, could someone make an app that, maybe uses a similar technology, to be able to identify plants, animals, and fungi? You could make it into a database where the users of the app put in the information, much like Wikipedia, so its ever evolving. I'd really like to be able, in my wood travels, to take my non existing iphone, and scan an organism with it and know all about it. I feel that that would be awesome.

Inspired by the Illuminato Arduino clone (can't really say clone because it's so much better!) really wants me to create my own Arduino clone. I've been thinking of making a clone for the Arduino Mega, but it'd need so feature that the original Arduino can't offer (like the boarduino is breadboard compatible, Sanguino has way more pins, Illuminato is the most beautiful PCB I've ever seen and has a lot of I/O's). So, I'm asking you guys! What features would you want in an arduino? If this "new" arduino is so much better than any other existing one I'll make kits (if the majority is through hole) for people to buy (no more than 40 dollars, probably, the 65 dollar price tag is a real turn off for the Mega) or just assembled if the majority is smd. Also instructable :P

I'm speechless. Well, I'm as speechless as I get. I'm sitting here with a bit eejit grin on my face because somebody has instigated a conspiracy, and I am the subject. Scoochmaroo has written a guide about me! Somebody put her up to it, more than one somebody, apparently. I have my suspicions, naturally, but nobody has owned up, yet. So, whoever you are, I thank you. This site has been important to me for a long time, but this is really special, better than any of the prizes I've won, better than all the "feature" tags... Like I said... about as speechless as I get.

This last Wednesday, while sitting in my daughter's hospital room, I picked up my computer and checked my e-mail. There was a message from Cattrampoline wishing for my daughter to get well soon. It took me a moment to put it all together. My little girl, known here as sistergldnhair, has a best friend, known here as themoose64. Moose posted to let the Instructables community know about SGH's upcoming surgery. Here is the truth. I am 45 years old and I did not see what one 11 year old little girl saw. I should have know, but I missed how important this site is to SGH and just how much she would love to receive well wishes from the people here. On a trip to California last year, all SGH wanted to do was see Instructables. I heard for months about how she got to meet Fungus Amongus and Angelabchua and how she got to play with Angie's dog. She was practically bouncing when one of her Instructables was Featured and squealed when Scoochmaroo and Penelopy sent her a comment. She also did a Forensic speech on Instructables. Wrote Eric an e-mail. He responded with some links and she worked and worked on her project. And a few months ago, we had planned to attend the Instructables event in Chicago. Unfortunately the same day as that event, SGH had to have an MRI/MRA of her brain. The dye made her quite sick and we were not able to go. One very heartbroken little girl. She was scared to have the surgery, which was to her forehead above her right eye. Afraid of the anesthesia and afraid of how she would look when it was all done. Moose wrote a post and received some criticism for spelling you as U and a few other mistakes in language usage. I absolutely, 100 percent understand that criticism. I edit and proofread for a living and I really do get it. I am not at all fond of this texting lingo, but putting that part of the post aside, the meaning behind it was significant. Two little girls that have been best buddies since Kindergarten and one of them did an amazing thing for the other in an effort to make this difficult time a little easier. So, I thank themoose64 and I am so thankful that I will have the opportunity to see her grow into an amazing young lady. As for my SGH, the surgery was a little more complicated than they thought. She was very sick and the first smile she was able to give me was when I read her cattrampoline's message. She is very swollen and can't move her face yet. This is all very traumatic, but we know it is only temporary. Today is better, as I expect each day will be. And she is working on her next Instructable, a hospital gown for children that keeps your backside covered =)

So what with all the fuss about paying less than $2 a month for pro, it really is a fair question - what's something else you spend less than two dollars on? What incidentals (coffee, music, gum, those purple fuzzy socks...) do you drop $2 or more on every month? Every week? Every day? I know people who spend more than $1.95 on their morning coffee.

TL;DR version at the bottom, below the line Oh you know, just one of those " I like x " situations, except with a twist. So yeah, I like this girl, we talk for short the small short talk (lasts for about 0.8 seconds). She might know that I have a crush on her (since about 30% of the class knows, of which 80% are friends with this person), but I'm uncertain. Either way, I'm not shy about that. The problem lies in the fact that the 24% of the class that's friends with her knows. Normally, they're always with / around her, which makes talking with her (in the first place) already challenging. Imagine maybe 4 people interrupting your conversation only 2 seconds in. It's like trying to play a video game with the worst ping ever; your talk getting interrupted and all. I would just like to have a chat with her that lasts over 15 seconds, at least, that doesn't involve official business (all talks with her so far involved school projects and such). To my assessment, she's astoundingly similar yet the opposite of me... She's simple, yet highly organized (that's me). She doesn't wanna stand out (like me). Generally silent, shy and reserved (somewhat like me, most of the time anyways). Now here's the part I would like to relate to, but I don't know how: music. She plays the piano, and I play the violin. Now, these are performing arts; you perform these in front of people. We don't play the same instruments, therefore we can't talk about it. Composing a piece? Not a chance. That's my work mode wherein I become secluded from the world (bad impression). Intention: I would just like to make friends, thank you very much (did it last year, too, though without the complications) Age: 13 turning 14 (me) and she's 13 More details: -Freshmen -I can control myself, thank you Additionally: I don't know if she likes me or not. I just need to become friends with her to clear some things up and... make more friends? I'm not bringing my hopes up, though. I have an opportunity to start off our friendship (which is due in less than a week), since we have this Christmas party going and we're supposed to have a gift exchange with a "randomly chosen" person which is done by just pulling out folded pieces of paper and.. yeah, there's the name. The wishlist is simple, yet a tad pricey (just roughly $10, but compared to my allowance). This is getting too long Questions: -How do I make friends now? -How do I sustain this? I'm not good at making friends. I either attract them to me or it was a need that developed. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ TL;DR version: I like a girl and I want to make friends with her, but then I can't talk with her because of massive external social pressure from her ever-present friends that know I have a crush on her. How can I approach her and sustain our friendship? Thank you.

I'm setting a goal to get at least one good instructable published by September. Wish me luck! *edit* WOW. I just noticed I have over 70,000 views. That means that either: A: 70,000 people have looked at something I've made, or B: A lot of people have looked at stuff I've made, and liked it enough to look at more. WOW. Thanks so much. It means a lot.

So, I want to build a computer, and this would be my first computer. I don't know how to tell how parts are compatible with other parts, and which parts are good. I just want a computer that can surf the web, and support gaming with little to no lag, or freezing. To keep cost down, I don't exactly need to be able to play newer games that can over heat a six month old gaming computer in seconds. I want to keep this project under $400, or at $450 at most. Some games I would like to run is Halo 1 and 2, counter strike, and perhaps WoW. Any, and all help will be appreciated, Thank you.

Has anyone else thought of getting their hands on a free boat, buying some cheap land (It's apparently not hard to get 5 acres in deserty parts of America for $5000 or even less) and burying the boat in the ground up to the waterline? You could use solar for power, and if your boat was a sailboat, you could probably rig a windmill to the mast to generate more electricity. Any thoughts on the practicality of doing this? Could you just dig a hole and bury the boat, or would it need some sort of framework to support it properly? Would transporting the boat to your land be too expensive to be worth it?
