ALL RECENT

Hello, what determines which new Instructables appear in the ALL RECENT page?   I've submitted 6 total, and only 1 has shown up in the ALL RECENT category.   Is it done randomly, or does the administrator pick and choose them?    I ask since those that appear on the All Recent list seem to get hundreds more views than those that do not.   I realize that some are Featured, but I'm referring to the All Recent pulldown.

Why did you remove the "all steps on one page" for non premium users!?

I've enjoyed instructables for a LONG time now and have endured the annoyance that it is to have to sign in to view all steps on one page... Now that that's gone for non premium users I'm frankly annoyed. Why are you guys trying to FORCE me into buying a bloody membership!? You guys sell plenty of advertisements to cover the costs on here please give us non-wealthy a chance to view all the steps on a single page. I'm beginning to think they should just set up a completely separate pro website for instructables and leave us poor bastards behind but at least give us the all steps on a single page. Really unfair move guys! Change it back!

Okay, I've been really inactive the last year and a bit, and I'm really sorry for all my subscribers! I just don't have anywhere near enough time anymore :( But what strikes me is, I still get new subscribers! To me, that's amazing. I'm setting a goal to get at least one good instructable published by September. Wish me luck! *edit* WOW. I just noticed I have over 70,000 views. That means that either: A: 70,000 people have looked at something I've made, or B: A lot of people have looked at stuff I've made, and liked it enough to look at more. WOW. Thanks so much. It means a lot.

All Season greenhouse?

I live in Northern, Ontario, Canada. We get only a few warm months through the summer and its fairly cold for the rest of the year, dropping down to about 40 below, Celsius!!  I have a vegetable garden in my backyard that does fairly well during the summer but I would like to be able to have fresh vegetables for my family year round. Is there any way I could build an outdoor greenhouse that I can use year round, without costing a fortune?  I also have a spare room on the upper level of my house that I could use but I don't want it to become too humid and rot my walls. Any ideas would help! Thanks!

Calling all VBScripters!

I am trying to create a vbs script that will use vocabulary databases to randomly choose words according to sentence structure, then using a large database (that tells what words are relevant to the random word chosen) it creates a basic sentence. With more complicated sentence structures there are more complicated. I need some other vbscripters to help. Here is how it works The program chose a statement sentence. The basic structure is noun verb Then the program choses a word Cats verb Finally using the matching database it creates a realisitic sentence Cats meowed. A more complex sentence would be article noun verb preposition pronoun noun article cat verb preposition pronoun noun article cat called preposition her kittens article cat called to her kittens The cat called to her kittens

ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES

ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES, ATV, are one of the most growing means of recreation. Many people ride ATV's in the mountain trails enjoying nature along the way. The scenery is really one that No TV can match either. Most people ride their ATV on forest Public  Lands which are "Managed " by forestry. ( at least they say they are....volunteers do more for the forest though) So why is it the US Government is working so hard at taking away our rights of recreating responsibly in our own lands? The USDA/USFS is attempting to close access to all forest lands making them monuments, in which case no person will be permitted to access them. If you or family or even friends recreate in the forest I highly urge you to let them know that we all need to unite in order to save these rights. Advocate in order to protect our rights to use our own lands responsibly. Education in this matter is available in many areas on the web. One place will help in many ways..... www.ouachitaatvadventureclub.org Go to this site.....click on the links.........obtain the information that is factual for you to make an educated decision to help save our land rights. If we all come together, we can stop many of the actions being brought forth to us. Please help.......Please save our recreation that our families and friends enjoy so much. Our club accepts donations to help preserve our recreation, maintain the web site, advocating, and working on the trails to clean them up and repair them also. Sure you can make comments here about this, about what you feel about this, even if you don't agree.....leave a comment here then. This is open for all to see and become aware of this problem. No matter where you recreate, some government department will have some type of involvement in it - some how - some way.

The All Steps dilemma...

So the reason i became a member of ibles was to get allsteps, only after signing up did i discover the amazing community we have here !I visited the site fairly frequently before signing up and i just clicked through the steps which was highly frustrating.Have i got this right ?No membership = NO allstepsfree membership = allsteps if you click the box on the instructablePro membership = Allways allstepsif that is right then speaking from experience, i have to disagree, i think the free-membership level should get allsteps preference, that way they can become a member, easily view the whole instructable and then when they realize how utterly awesome instructables is they can sign up for pro.If i had arrived at ibles today and signed up for a free account because i liked it, i would have seen the pro option and thought "ill see what they have to offer first" and then when i tried to look at an instructable i had to continually click allsteps or even worse click through all the steps, i fear i may have lost instructables in the depths of my bookmarks folder. Now i love instructable's i have many friends and lots of fun, and i totally agree with the pro accounts. I just worry that without allsteps preference, the free-members will be dissuaded to stick around and eventually sign up to pro..p.s. im not great at writing long things so just try to get the gist of what im saying :)p.p.s. pic unrelated..

3D Printing For All

Right after we hear about Ponoko, and their laser-cut designs that you can make and sell, here comes another company that offers the service of making 3D prints via its website Jujups.Their statement:We believe that "everyone has an inherent desire - to design" Design is about self expression. It is about satisfying your desires. Once upon a time only a small portion of humanity could read or write. We would like to say that once upon a time "only a few people could design but, JuJups changed that.JuJups is powered by design technology that structures design in an intelligent way, just as much as CSS and Html structures text and graphic data in an intelligent way so that non-techies can create wonderful blog graphics and web pages that we enjoy today. JuJups will do the same to the world of products.Basically, it's easy 3D printing with templates. They'll expand into more stuff later.A wider range of products will follow in the near future.JuJups is planning in association with ZCorp to expand 3D printing capacity to support the growing demand for customized objects. Customized giftware, memorabilia, toys, etc will soon be added to the list of items that can be custom designed. Many companies have now created opportunities for custom-made products, such as custom printed T-shirts, mugs, magnets etc. however, the customization is mostly in 2D.

All this CSI Bull****

Well, as I'm watching a csi clone as many people will know as Crossing Jordan (Is she crossing a river? What a mystery all in itself). Why do these show writers think that you can do extra-ordinary technological things in their crime labs that we can't actually do in this current day and age, not nearly as well as what they show us. For example, as in pretty much every episode of CSI, there is some image, some security footage or the such, they "clear up" the image or make a shitty black and white video camera tape look crisp and sharp like it's hd and they can read the letters on a newspaper that someone is holding sitting on a bench like 500 feet away. This people is not possible, not ever. You cannot "extrapolate" pixels out of pixels that aren't already there. If your security camera is 640x480 resolution or the such, say it's pointed to your wall at the end of your living room for example. Something up close, like 5-10 feet away from the camera, the pixel representation of the actual object is fairly well represented digitally and the object is readable usually, maybe with a bit of image tweaking. But say you have a big living room and you need to read a newspaper that is strangely pinned to your wall by a stranger. If it's too far away, the camera sees a lot of the text as big blockly black or white pixels, and each bit of the newspaper isn't captured pixel by pixel, just a representation of what it would look like. But on a pixelated camera, you're never going to be able to pull pixels out of pixels that aren't there like I already said, it makes no sense. And on these csi shows, they're seen doing crazy shit like pulling a liscense plate number from a police car footage tape of the car BEHIND the cruiser by "extrapolating" the pixels they seemed to be able to read the license plate by using the left mirror of the car in front of the cruiser, and to that, this would imply that the car behind was parked to the left of the cruiser, but in reality in the show itself, the car was right behind cruiser where you wouldn't have been able to see the plate anyways.Stuff like matching blood spatter marks to certain cuts on victims or the such, I know this can and is done in real life to a certain point and degree, everything you see in csi is based apon what is used in the real force. But the difference is that in CSI it is SUPER EXAGGERATED way beyond what's possible in real life. I've finally ran out of typing energy so you guys are spared any more of my rant but holy **** I can not figure out how people enjoy CSI so much seeing as it's soooooooo fake in reality. How many other people think it's fake like me?

Registering to see all steps

Maybe this has a topic already, if so, I apologise! I think it must be new, having to register to see all steps. I don't like it! Annoying for when I'm at school and don't want to log in and just generally inconvenient. I think it might put new people off using instructables because registering just to see how to do a project is quite a turn-off. I know the service is free and I feel bad only ever making a contribution to complain! Instructables is a great site and one of my most visited, I really do love it! Anyway, just my thoughts.
