A great idea for animation, doing everything in a room and letting the drawings interact with reality. Enough words... just watch.

Type of Animation

So I saw this video which is a wonderful video on physics: http://vimeo.com/64951553 I really love the video content but was unsure about the name of the type of animation she used. Also, I was unsure about how I could go about doing this type of animation or similar. A few days ago, it struck me that technically speaking, she could have drawn a frame and then redrawn it multiple times and played them. Unfortunately, this is a huge amount of work to do so I was also wondering whether there was a faster way to achieve this type of animation (assuming I already have all the frames for a regular animation without the moving lines). I am not exactly a genius in the art and animation field but was very curious. I guess it would be possible to do a small scale animation like a title where I could write a title or something and then redraw it five or six times as close as possible and make it a GIF image but again, on a larger scale there would be a huge amount of work that would needed to be done.

Animated GIFs

My cover image is a animated GIF and it works fine on a PC.  I tried to view my instructable on an iphone and ipad.    It doesn't animate at all on the Iphone app unless I click on the image.  It comes over as a fractured picture on the Ipad app.  Has anyone else had the same issue? Welcome to Animal Care, Rescue, and Rehabilitation! Here you can learn how to nurse wild or domestic animals back to health, share your knowledge and experience, or give simple tips and tricks. Any Instructables involving animal care of any kind are welcome. You can ask questions here regarding animal care in this topic. ( Example: I just saw a baby bird fall out of it's nest, what do I do?) I might not be able to help you in some cases (I know most about rabbits), but hopefully others can.

Crazy LEGO animation

This LEGO animation has been bouncing all over the Interwebs this weekend. It's pretty stunning stuff since it was all done with LEGO and by one person who clocked 1,500 hours on it. It goes to show how much you can do with a pile of LEGO and a regular digital camera. That all said, the video is still a little slow and can do with about a minute less footage. So I'm definitely curious to see the next video from these guys in another year or so.

Share Your Animations

I've been using Corel R.A.V.E for simple animations. I am an amateur at it, but I got simple creations out of it. But I wonder if there are other types of animation creators out there. I would like to see from the Instructables community some animations they made too. Post them here for everyone to see!

Free Animation Software? Answered

Hey, I recently got really into animation, like the type done at Pixar, and I was wondering if anyone knew a nice, free software for animation purposes. I'm not talking about Powtoon or anything like that, I would like to make the characters using softwares, not pre-made circles and rectangles. I'd prefer online software, but it can be downloadable. But my biggest thing is that it needs to be free. Google hasn't been much help in this matter, and I was wondering if any of you animators knew. I'm looking to make movies with this. Thanks for the help! Best Answer chosen as soon as possible!!

Web Design and Animation

Hi! I am offering my services for some simple web design, or 2D flash animation, or both! I use the Godaddy web hosting service, and use Flash CS4 for all my animating. If you wish to be hosted by another service, I can do that as well. Here is some of my work; www.brianschopshop.com I did this website for a local barber when I lived in Wisconsin. I try to keep an up to date relationship with my clients. If you wish to contact me email me at sammartz42@gmail.com, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I will answer comments to this forum topic as well. I charge about 50-100 dollars per page depending on the content, and animation is charged by the length at 10 dollars for every 20 seconds.

CO2 breathing animals?

Obviously from what we see today, evolution branched off into two sides, the co2 producers, and the co2 users.  Now all animals that walk or swim the earth today breath in oxygen and out co2.  It may sound crazy, but have we not even attempted to produce oxygen making creatures.  Evolution just didn't really branch off to this kind of creature and it would be very difficult to create.  Todays Autotrophs don't produce enough energy for a large animal.  Trees and small single cell organisms use tiny amounts of energy, but could a hybrid allotroph, which gets the majority of its energy from eating like a normal cow, but then it also uses co2 and sunlight maybe, and then you can eat it.   Just a crazy thought that has always bugged me.

Muppets Animal Costume?

Hi Guys Everyone on this site is so fantastic at making stuff I wondered if one of you might be able to help me to make a Muppets Animal Costume for my friend. I'm thinking of glueing 2 pieces of foam together (will sort of look like Stewie family guys head) as the base then cutting a hole out for the mouth. Ping pong balls for the eyes and some fake fur. I'm going to use a black mesh/netting for the inside of the mouth so you can't see my friend inside the costume/ What do you think? Anyone got any ideas that would work better? If anyone could do an instrucauble for this I will be your bestest friend. Thanks everyone PS: The party is at the end of November, so I guess I should be making it already!

Animating a stuffed toy.

I'm brand new to this site and hope some one can help me. I am making a fabric covered starfish that will be stuffed with a polyester fiberfill. I am wanting to animate it in that I wish the arms to move in some manner. I'm not fussy about what direction or even how much; I just want it to have the appearance of being alive. I also want to have two small lights for eyes; if they could blink, that would be cool, but if not that's fine also. I don't know a thing about what I need and live in a small town, so my resources here are little if none. Hobby store websites have been no help. I just need someone to give me some ideas of what I need and how to run wires or whatever into the arms to make them move. Of course, I'm looking for this to be battery operated. Something I can turn on and walk away from. I can adjust the size of the starfish to accomodate the equipment I need, but don't want it to be too big. I guess I want it to be as compact as possible. I saw the wonderful hand that someone built and it said that it could be done using servos(which I have no clue what they are), but that sure got my interest as the fingers moved much like I would like the arms of the starfish to move. So can someone give me some suggestions or head my in the right direction? Thanks so much!

Cruelty to animals isn't okay...

Personally, I'm not an activist or animal maniac of any kind... but I find this instructable really irresponsible for the site to host and promote: "DIY Kitty Crack: ultra-potent catnip extract" The debate in the comments alone discusses how dangerous this can be for animals... and whereas I'm sure instructables bears no responsibility for what users do with their newly found knowledge, there's a line you guys should draw in the sand:  don't support teaching people how to kill domesticated animals. Take it down...
