Making momos of artful and fancy shapes: can someone tell me how to?

Momo or Dimsum is a dumpling common all over east asia. The basic idea is to take a wrapper( thin small pancake of dough), stuff it with a mixture of meat and vegetables and steam it. Eaten hot with any sauce, preferably pungent. I want to see momos/dimsums of artful and fancy shapes, and the technique of making them.

Your Art!

I desided I would provide a space for fellow artists in the Instructables community to display, comment on, and discuss their art freely. If you have a website or an art instructable that you want to share, you can post a link to it here. Feel free to post images of your work or discuss about supplies, techniques, etc. This forum is completely open to your art. I had an idea from SacTownSue. You can post your art here, or join this group, creat a topic, and post your art as that topic. This will be much more website

Food as art

A few photos from the BBC -Photographer Carl Warner has painstakingly captured all kinds of food in a series of still lifes. He says his 'Foodscapes' were partly inspired by healthy eating campaigns. But they have not persuaded his own children to take up the five-a-day pledge. The photos must be shopped in some way, because they were apparently "taken in layers", so that part of the image didn't wilt whilst the rest was being prepared.Link to other images:

Sword arts

We've all practiced in parks with sticks, against our freinds, or imaginary dragons, and we think outrselves to be quite good, but most all of us have never taken things further. SOME of the people reading this will have taked classes in swordsmanship, with any luck, and that's what this group is all about. That's why i'm asking anyone out there with experence to come forward and write an instructable for us, perhaps just the basics. As for myself, i'll be focussing on the metallurgical side of things, publishing instructables on the things i make and posting the relevant ones here. My entry to the laser cutter contest is a sword, with a fairly simple method that shouldn't be too hard to follow. I'll post it and start the others one i've cleared my exams up.

Woodblock Art

After seeing this, would it be possible to replicate this but light up just a solid image? It would most likely require a CNC machine to pull off well, but if you took a piece 10cmx10cmx1cm of wood then milled out an image of something to 0.5m would it be possible to shine a LED through it to just bring up the outline while the rest of the wood is too dense/coated and you're just left with a image shining through wood. I think you would be able to pull off some pretty cool artwork with it, but there's a few things that need to be considered; such a strength, the chance of it getting bumped is pretty low but with a thin diameter so the light can shine through it's probably quite fragile. Are there transparent fiberglass weaves/epoxy coatings that would add some strength while not ruining the effect? The other big thing I see is colors, would there be any limit factors with the different species of woods you can buy or is the main problem just getting a solid image lit up instead of just LED dots.

More Art Work

Well just post anything you have drwn or painted, burned, carved, sculpted or anything else. Well here is my feeble attempt at GIMP for the first time. Please if you comment on someone's art, don't be harsh. It's called constructive criticism. This is supposed to be Leonidas from 300. I'm still working on it so please comment. I would say that the most noticeable thing it the pixelation of the head dress. I will go over it with the airbrush to smoothen it up.

Art as an investment vehicle.

I find it hard to say anything nice about the The Artist's Pension Trust (via the BBC) and I'm finding it equally difficult to completely denounce it. I suppose many of my misgivings may have more to do with the general state of art within contemporary culture than with the trust itself. Anyway, decide for yourself at their official homepage. Or just take the New York Times' word that the Artist's Pension Trust is infused with "a healthy dose of socialism.""Such informal trading systems, where young artists swap their own work for art made by others, has always served this dual purpose of combining pleasure with diversified financial security. The idea is that at least one of the group will become a recognised and valued artist, and as such a broad arts portfolio is likely to contain at least one valuable work of art. Now, a multilingual globetrotting financier has formalised the system, making a quantum leap in the process, in the form of the Artist Pension Trust." -- BBCHowever, if you really want to make a good investment, let the BBC show you How to Spot a Banksy for fun and profit.

Awesome art prints

I was doing some holiday shopping online, and I found Veramar Naval Products... They are offering free shipping for the holidays on orders over $40. I found that pretty easy to do since they now have the work of Nate Ostrow, who is just incredible. They also have another site entirely devoted to music and pop culture art prints in addition to the military and naval artwork. They have like Hendrix and Hepburn and all sorts of cool stuff that's worth checking out. I thought this was quite the find and figured I would pass it along - happy holidays!

Rice Paddy Art

I found this post through another post, and it's truly magnificent.  Every year starting in 1993-1994, rice farmers create these aerial art displays using 2-3 different rice cultivars (purple, green, and white), and I'm pretty sure the same could be recreated using liriope and black mondo grass for those of us who don't live in areas hospitable for creating a rice paddy. You really have to check it out.
