I would like to create a variable that is between two preset numbers but they are randomly created that runs in a batch program. For example if I wanted to create a program that would act like a dice where there is a 1/6 chance (for a 6 sided dice) of the dice landing on any number between 1 and 6.

Ok i asked this in the "slightly more advance .bat file instructable" but i didnt know if anyone would notice it so i will ask it here. When i made my shut down.bat file i would start it and it would run it over and over agian and nothing would happen. Then when i type in command prompt it works. so then i try to do something else like the delete command in my .bat file. It worked but at first it didnt it would pop up and ask me if i wanted to delete it. But that may be becuz it was a directory not a single file. So then i checkd my spelling and everything but it was fine i cant figure out why it kept running it over and over.

My Dad sent me this. I suppose it's Halloween appropriate? Weird. Have you ever heard of "Bat Fishing?" Kids out in the countryside come up with creative things to occupy their time. This fellow called in to a radio show ... you have a very light monofilament line on your fishing pole. Tie on a very small hook like you would use for small trout, put a small weight just above the hook, and bait the hook with a little bread. You then toss the hook up over a wire or tree branch in an area where bats are flying around at dusk. Kind of tug or wiggle the line so the bats strike at it. Be patient ... eventually one of them will grab the hook. Then you can fly your bat around in the sky ... kind of like a kite. When the bat becomes exhausted, reel it in, remove the hook, and let it go.

There are products like battery operated bats available in the market to kill mosquitoes and insects but there is no battery-less innovation. My invention is very simple and very effective in killing mosquitoes as there is no need for recharging the battery of this mosquito bat. Only a bat and adhesive tape are required to build it. It will work to by trapping and killing mosquitoes. Salient features: (1) there is no need for recharging it. (2) the adhesive tape can be removed and replaced after use. (3) it is a very low cost design so anyone can afford it very easily. (4) it is safe and light weight (5) it can be used many times.

NOT Ratfink, but Batfink. Has anybody ever seen this show? You know, with Batfink's super sonic sonar radar, his wings of steel that cannot be harmed, evil genius Hugo-a-go-go, his sidekick Karate, the Battillac that looks like a VW-bug and always makes Batfink glad that it has a thermo-nuclear plutonium insulated something, the announcer that always stops right before something horrible will happen to Batfink and asks us what will happen, and the chief. I used to watch it on Boomerang, but they stopped airing it. It's a funny and cool show, made by Hal Seeger.

Any suggestions? Any other bat-related ideas? (Other than selling bat guano...already been suggested) thanks

My 4 year old is wheel chair bound. He is too weak to hold a bat and swing it.. So I want to attach a spring loaded baseball bat to his wheel chair, and all he does is hit a button to swing the bat. The bat would reload manually or ideally automatically. The same concept would work to 'kick' a soccer ball if we just attach the 'tool' lower on the wheelchair.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for any sort of animal feeders and/or houses? I've seen such things as bat boxes at different places which provide a home for bats. Also most places seem to carry feeders for birds that are designed to keep squirrels out, but few carry feeders for the squirrels themselves. Why cant those little critters with the break-dancing tails get any love? Any other suggestions for animal houses and feeders would be cool too. Can't wait to see what yas come up with!

Have you ever wondered how to do something in batch that someone has already done and wrapped it nicely in a little .exe file? Some people like to keep their batch programming secrets to themselves, and don't want to share, so then convert their batch file to .exe. But you can't discover their secrets if they have converted it to .exe, because all you will find is gibberish. Before I will tell you how to "unextract" an .exe, you must now how ".bat to .exe" programs work. What they basically do is "wrap" a batch file with an executable; think about a Christmas present. Pretend the gift inside is the secrets of the batch file, and the wrapping on the outside is like the executable, which prevents you from "seeing" the secrets inside. But this is no ordinary present, the wrapping on the outside can not be torn or opened, you must press a button in order to to "unwrap" it. But when it "unwraps", it shows you what it is, but hiding the secrets. If you couldn't fully understand that, here is what actually happens. Try to compare the two.Batch files in executable form cannot be viewed as the batch language. If you open it in notepad, you will get a whole bunch of symbols. In the philosophy above, pressing the "button" is the same as opening the file as an executable. It opens just like a batch file, but if you try to edit it, you won't be able to read it. What the executable does, is temporarily extracts the batch file within it, to a temp folder. Now to the "how to" part. Here is where that "temp" (temporary) folder is: %userprofile%\Local Settings\TempNow all you have to do is copy and paste that into a windows explorer address bar. You will now be in a temp folder where the batch file will be dumped. Now you have to run the .exe file. But now you do have to get your hands dirty (virtually!). Search in each folder till you find a batch file, most commonly called batchfile.bat. Simply right click, press edit, and your in!So that's how to "unextract" a converted batch file! (note: I didn't make it an instructible because, well, no one likes a one step instructable!)Good Luck!

I looked up at bat detector, a device that converts ultrasonic signals into audible sounds. Most bats produce high frequency calls which are often higher than a human ear can pick up. A bat detector picks up the frequencies and then converts the sound into a lower, audible frequency. I was thinking if I could get a bat detector, I use it to capture the ultrasonic sounds. While bat detector could pick up these high frequencies, it would be interesting to see how it will pick up the faintly heard, to human ears - sounds of the industrialised areas/city or even at isolated/quiet areas. The bat detector I want to use is this - http://www.magenta2000.co.uk/acatalog/B ... _Bat4.html I'm thinking of hooking up the bat detector to a digital recorder and a binaural microphone and capture the sound through those equipments. I would greatly appreciate your suggestions/opinions on this matter.
