I am making an alarm/timer script, and this line isn't working.: IF '%TIME%'=='0:18:05.20' (GOTO yes) ELSE (GOTO LOOP) It works when I put %DATE% in instead like this: IF '%DATE%'=='03/01/2011' (GOTO yes) ELSE (GOTO LOOP) It quits really quickly with the first line, but i was able to see what is says, and it says 0:18:05.20 was unexpected at this time. What's going wrong?

This is a demo of a text based pokemon game i am working on. There may be some glitches or bugs. Save often in case of glitches and bugs. Do not move the .txt file that the game creates, as that is the save file. Click the file named textbasedpokemon.rar, to download the game. Use winrar to open up the file. Please comment if you like it or dislike it. Please comment if you have any suggestions or ideas. Please comment if you find any problems with the game. UPDATE! Beta V1.3: updates: 1.You can now get a potion (go find it). 2.You can now get PokeBalls (pr.oak gives you them). 3.Fixed major glitch that happens when your Pokemon faints in battle and you switch to your next Pokemon. 4.Cleaned up the Pokemon info screen. 5.General fixes and changes. Update History: Beta V1.2: updates: 1.Fixed an imbalance in the way leveling up Pokemon works. 2.Modified save and load function. 3.Fixed error in how pp is calculated. 4.Fixed error caused by being healed by your mom. Beta V1.1: updates: 1.Your Pokemon can now faint in battles. 2.Your mom will heal your Pokemon if you run out of Pokemon in battle. 3.Fixed problem with Pokemon not increasing in level. 4.Increasing in level now increases a Pokemon's max hp, its max pp, its max exp, and the max amount of damage a move does. 5.increased loading speed in battles! 6.General fixes and changes.

If you want to use special characters provided in command prompt and implement them in a batch script, how would one run a batch script in unicode format? Once it is created, a batch script must be run in ANSI encoding. But the special characters will be lost! Answers?

Hi all, I am new in scripting and I'm working with a tool which is exactly like windows cmd. My input text file is : age=min;age_1D_param_min_64;meas_time = My batch file reads the lines from this input and splits the lines by “ ; ” then executes a function with the token and age file from the second field and after all parses the output for the third line. in the following you can see my current batch file: setlocal EnableDelayedExpansion for /f "tokens=1,2,3* delims=;" %%a in (input.txt) do ( REM create token file echo.%%a>current.tok sinoparam -p D:\product\%%b 0x0100001F current.tok> out.txt for /f %%y in ('findstr /C:"%%c" out.txt ^| sed "s/.*%%c .............. )do SET RESULT=%%y echo.%%a;%%b;%%c;!RESULT!>>finaloutput.csv ) GOTO :EOF now I have problem with one string in out.txt which is the result of executing my function: meas_time =31.9999 in my batch file I want to do the followings: 1.find the value in string dActual_age =31.9999 by findstr/C 2. if the value is lower than 1000 round it and show the result 3. if it’s greater than 1000 first divide it by 32 and then round the result Does anyone know how I can do this ? thanks for any help! Hi I am making a pokemon game in Game maker 8 Pro Version. I am hopeless at scripting with the GML ( with other types of scripting as well ). I can make the backgrounds but I have no Idea on how to make the battle scenes. So if you go into the grass it chooses a random number between one and 5 and if it is 1 a pidgey will apear 2 a caterpie will appear etc. etc etc.. Then Also the EXP and Health the PP and the pokemon attack moves themselves. I guess what I'm trying to ask is : Does anyone know what I should do ? Thanks Nathan

I am new to Apple computers, I just got an older system off of ebay for testing purposes and so that I can learn how to use them. (I want to go into IT for a living, so I will need to learn how to use them.) I need a little help getting started with my first project. I have made a working program for what I want to do in Windows as a batch file (which I then compiled into an .exe). For a company that I am starting, people often need to send me large files, and I want to give them a way to do this. I have two FTP servers (one in the cloud, and one at home that my parents make me shut down every night). Since these files are large enough that it takes awhile to download them from my cloud server, my script automatically selects which server to use based on the current time. It then prompts the user to drag and drop their file into the dos window to select the files they wish to upload. After that, it creates an FTP script which is then executed using the ftp /s command. This program works great. I would like to get this program working on my mac as well (I realize that I probably can't use the same script, I will have to change it). I considered using a bash script, but it seems that you would have to start the script from terminal (it can't just be executed by clicking on it like in windows). I've also looked at automator, but as far as I can see it doesn't even have the ability to upload to FTP. At this point, I just want to make an easy way for people to upload to a specific FTP server without having to enter usernames, passwords, IP addresses/ urls, etc. I don't even care if it automatically switches between servers like my other script... that is a bonus. To any mac programmers out there, if you were going to do this; where would you start? (Stick with bash, applescript, automator, another programming language, etc.) Thanks!

This isn't exactly a conventional question, but it's a question nonetheless. The thing is, I'm thinking of starting a forum for all the tricky techniques and methods with batch (it wouldn't be a great instructable as it would require a lot of previous knowledge). So, I'd basically just have an index with all these different segments of how to do tricky stuff (such as advanced techniques for piping and other random stuff). The only problem is that I don't know what to make it on, so I'm trying to target people who've read all the instructables and are still missing that extra bit of information. Now, you could say something like "do whatever you think is hard", but the thing is I work better when it's at the request of someone else (basically I like to help people, and I'm abusing that natural urge). So, if you're experienced in batch but are curious about anything (perhaps how to ignore every rule in the book and put 50 nested for loops within your script), please post it below. Thank you. --EDIT-- I've started rewriting my batch tutorial, so most of the stuff you comment will go into that... somewhere.

Hey whats up the names Jason. I am 13 and like to play with computers but not like Halo (although i am guilty of occasionally playing Halo) what interest me is computer logic and programming. So right now i am half-way decentish with Qbasic and consequently Visual Basic, but the language i am most fluent in is just plain old DOS scripting (batch files). My math teacher at the begging of the year my math teacher announced that once o twice a month we would have a pop quiz on square roots and squares of numbers 1-20. Now to say the least I am poor with memorization. So i tried flash cards and starin at a sheet with the squares and square roots on it. but I was pretty consistently getting 60s and 70s. Now being a pretty good student this upset me and my parents weren't exactly happy. So then i decided i would make a batch file to quiz me on this, my first one was on sqrts. writing this took forever so even still i made another for squares. These programs help me study immensely and i now get a perfect 100 every quiz.. i then started thinking that there must be a way to speed up the writing of a simaler quiz program. thats why i wrote this, and i know it is probably mediocre but i like it so be nice. (You can do whatever you want with this source code, and while not required i would prefer credit if you distribute a mod of this batch file.)Here it is:rem The purpose of this batch is to automate the process of making another batch that is used to quiz a person@echo off:startclsEcho Make a Quizecho.echo.rem this part creates a variabl that wil be used in creating the final batch fileecho enter the name of the fileecho .bat wil automaticaly be tacked ont to the endSet /p filename=echo.echo.rem This just creates a ariable that is the title of the the game to be createdecho now enter the title of the quizset/p title=echo.echo.rem this is where the user inputs question part one and it becomes a variableecho enter question part 1Set /p quespt1=echo.echo.rem this ask for the second part of the question echo enter qeustion part 2set /p quespt2=echo.echo.Rem this declares some variables just for shorthandset line=echo.set ec=echoRem this creates a file that user named a while back and then fills it with some preliminary textecho @echo off>%filename%.batecho :start>>%filename%.batecho cls>>%filename%.batecho echo %title%>>%filename%.batecho %line%>>%filename%.batecho %line%>>%filename%.batrem this part is called midstart because ideally later you can repeat this multiple times depending on how long your quiz isset next=0:midstartset /a next=%next%+1rem now we ask for the question of the questionecho now enter the question for the current questionSet /p questmp=echo.echo.rem now we ask for the answer for that questionecho now the answer to that same questionSet /p anstmp=rem More txt inserting (the %%answer%% is used so that in the batch file being created it shows up as %answer%)echo echo %quespt1% %questmp% %quespt2%>>%filename%.batecho set /p answer=>>%filename%.batecho if %%answer%% == %anstmp% goto next%next%>>%filename%.batecho echo you lost>>%filename%.batecho pause>>%filename%.batecho goto start>>%filename%.batecho :next%next%>>%filename%.batecho echo You got it right>>%filename%.batecho %line%>>%filename%.batecho %line%>>%filename%.batecho you have asked %next% question(s)echo.echo.echo If you would like to make a new question simply type "n" and press enterecho However to input your last question type "l" and press enterset /p endchoice=if %endchoice% == l goto endif %endchoice% == n goto restart:restartgoto midstart:endset /a next=%next%+1rem now we ask for the question of the questionecho now enter the question for the current questionSet /p questmp=echo.echo.rem now we ask for the answer for that questionecho now the answer to that same questionSet /p anstmp=rem More txt inserting (the %%answer%% is used so that in the batch file being created it shows up as %answer%)echo echo %quespt1% %questmp% %quespt2%>>%filename%.batecho set /p answer=>>%filename%.batecho if %%answer%% == %anstmp% goto next%next%>>%filename%.batecho echo you lost>>%filename%.batecho pause>>%filename%.batecho goto start>>%filename%.batecho :next%next%>>%filename%.batecho echo you won>>%filename%.batecho echo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>>%filename%.batecho %line%>>%filename%.batecho echo click to exit>>%filename%.batecho pause>>%filename%.batEcho And thats it your doneecho.echo click to exitset /p end=And thats it so have fun and feel free to comment

We need a way to batch check the integrity of a lot of AutoCAD files and need suggestions or recommendations. These files have been recovered from a raw data image so many of them are corrupt and will not open. The option to move any undamaged files would be extra beneficial. The only program I have been able to find is one called SmartPurger but it does not work as AutoCAD will popup with error messages on corrupted files and stall the process. There is an option in SmartPurger to auto accept the popups but it does not seem to actually work. Been Googling for a few hours and it looks like it somehow may be possible with LISP or Script programming but I've got zero experience with these things. Thanks!

I have figured out how to make an inbox setup, I just need help. I am not asking for someone to give me the whole answer, but rather help me figure out what the problem is. This isn't the program itself (obviously), just a section Please take a look:if %command% EQU 5 (chdir C:\chdir Documents and Settingschdir All Userschdir Desktopchdir %global.username%IF EXIST Mail.txt (type %global.username%echo You have mail!pause > nulset command=goto AccountPanel) ELSE (echo No new messages.pause > nulset command=goto AccountPanel)For some reason, I can only get it to say "You have no new messages" or "You have mail!" rather than the right one for the situation. Now, It keeps appearing and disapearing in a window whenever I select the number five. All users have the same exact Account Panel, so %global.username% just represents the user that is currently logged on using set globals. I am kindly asking for help, not for someone to do it for me. I know that batch isn't a real scripting language, but it is fun to work with, just... confusing. I am sure I have all of the directories correct. Please help!

I'm hate open source today!! It started out so easy, too. Download a free script based avi editor called Avisynth? Ok. Try to save the output of your newly edited avi file? Who the bleep knows how? Well, try to install a plugin instead. Download and stick in the plugins folder. Doesn't work. Scrounge around forums looking for a quick answer. Nothing. I read in the readme file somewhere that I need to download a C++ API to get a certain plugin working. OK, go to the website for the API. There's a cryptic list of file names with no descriptions. I pick one at random and download that. Wrong one. I pick a different one. Seems to be the right one. Good. Oh wait, the readme for the plugin says I need to download GCC and run the file to compile the stupid plugin. WHY THE FLIPPIN CRAP DIDN"T YOU FETCHIN POST THE STUPID BINARY!?!?! Get frustrated. Rant here. I really feel like cussing. Stupid GPL. A gazillion versions of open software posted all the time, all on the same page with mountains of text to read through just to try and find which version you need for your OS. Stupid Programmers. Don't know the purpose of a good user interface if it hit them in their blocky heads. AND THEN YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A FRIGGIN COMPILER TO COMPILE THE CRAP YOU JUST DOWNLOADED--THEN FIGURE OUT HOW THE COMPILER WORKS--THEN FIND OUT THE LATEST VERSION OF THE COMPILER HAS A BUG THAT PREVENTS THE stupid thing from compiling. Does every open source programmer assume everyone that uses their stuff is a software engineer? I GUESS SO! AHHHHHHHHH! Linux will never beat windows. Stupid OS. I'm going to buy a freakin MAC with OS X. Then I can run my darn batch files from a terminal AND have a frickin stable GUI. Oh wait, I'd have to sell some blood plasma to afford a frickin' Mac. Great. Can't even run a useful batch file under Windows. Back to the GPL crap and Linux. *sigh* I should have bought Quicktime Pro months ago . . . or killed a rich uncle and inherited his fortune so I could buy programs that work and pay someone to maintain them on my system.
