Steampunk(?) Batman

I first came across Elseworld Batman on Brass Goggles(a steampunk website), described as a steampunk Batman. Although he's actually from WWII and the goggles are arguably the only "steampunk" thing about him, I am still tempted to put him in the category. I have an instructable for the costume and was curious, not just if I should add it to this group, but also if anyone else would dare call this "steampunk".There's also a picture of some other goggles I made, and am thinking about doing an instructable for them as well, let me know what you think. Thanks.

Batman Grapple Gun Help!

So for awhile now I've wanted to make the batman grapple gun with all the features, including the ability to pull you up after the rope is launched. The only piece of the puzzle i need help on is finding the right motor to use in my project. In a Colin Furze video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arbNxONg88c) he used a drill motor but it was almost to slow, any thoughts from anyone?

Batman Tumbler Golf Cart

This modified golf cart is apparently riding around some studio lot in Hollywood. Not much info about it except that one commenter claims it was made by Marc's Creature Company for a director who is not Christopher Nolan. Well, no matter what, it's a sweet custom job. DIY Batman Tumbler is Ultimate Fan Creation

The new Batman movies are so awesome that this fan decided to make his own version of the Tumbler, Batman's burly ride. The final cost is around $50k-$70k and an undoubtedly insane amount of time devoted to research, design, and fabrication. Oh, and he made a kickass Batsuit as well. Nutty. Link

I'm having trouble finding the right material for a full head mask. suggestions? Answered

I get bored, often. And to pass that time i make goggles and masks, until now ive used leather, denim, hard plastic, metal, paper mache, and even clay. I've been inspired by this game, Gotham City Imposters, to make a "homemade" version of batmans cowl. I'd like to make it out of a material that i guess would have to stretch, cuz i just want to be able to slip it on and off, you see, all of my full head masks ive made so far have either had belts or laces in the back that id have to do up and undo everytime i took it on and off. So my question for this project and future ones is... what the lump should i use (as far as materials) that would be tight (not too tight) and be easy to slip on and off my head, without breaking or tearing?

How to make a replica of The Riddler's Box (Work in progress)

All right, I admit it. I liked Batman Forever, and still do. I also liked the "Box," which was the film's signature gadget. (And no, I don't count the Batarangs--they're equipment. The Box is a gadget in the purest sense of the word.) To that end, I decided to build a replica of the Box last summer. It's still not finished--I need to work out lighting, a motor, and the lower coils. (EL wire, maybe?) By the way, I'm posting it on the forum first because it's still a work in progress. I have no Monet to buy Degas to made de Van Gogh, as it were... YOU WILL NEED: One clear 28-oz. tumbler, acrylic (I got mine from Jewel for $1 last year...I don't know if they still carry 'em) One 20-oz. tumbler, acrylic (I got mine from Walgreen's last year...ditto) Two super-size cup lids from McDonald's One large bottle of Gesso One bottle of gold paint (Antique Gold works best) One bottle of green glow-in-the-dark paint A really long paintbrush, preferably made of foam A normal paintbrush The wings are made of a piece of foam I had lying around...I need to get them made specially. It's also got some Christmas-wreath lights stuck inside, just for the picture. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SO: For the 28-oz. tumbler, first you need to thin your Gesso out with water. This will allow you, later, to add the paint in such a way that light can shine through. Then, you will want to paint the INSIDE of the tumbler with Gesso, and then with the green paint. Simple as that. For the 20-oz. tumbler, you can leave the Gesso thick if you wish. Depends on your preferences, really...Then, you'll want to paint the outside of the 20-ouncer with the gold paint. With me so far? Then, you'll want to glue the two McDonald's lids together for a bit of sturdiness. I recommend Gorilla Glue for this. When that sets, you'll want to paint the outside and the inside with Gesso. The outer lid is gold in color; the inner lid is black. This prevents light from shining through the lid, which could give the game away. WINGS: As for me, I cut a pair of 11 3/4" oblong triangles from foam for the wings. They're not stable at all, but at least you get the basic idea of what it is. I stacked the 28-oz. tumbler on top of the 28-oz. tumbler, put the lids on, and stuck the wings on with tape. It's a crude mockup, but it works for now. I put the Christmas-wreath lights inside just make it look like it's doing something. I'm thinking about adding a "Fusion" light from Windy City Novelties for the finished result. The final version of this will involve some very tricky wiring--I want to wire the light-up gadget and the motor to one switch or button. If any of you have suggestions, the mailbox is open and waiting. I've very little technical experience, and would like as much input as possible from anyone who knows something.

Know of a good light source for a Bat Signal?

I wanted to make a quick and inexpensive Bat Signal for Halloween (to shine on a wall, but clouds would be nice?) and purchased one of those cheap 10 million candle power lamps.  It has the brightness and power, but unfortunately it doesn't have the point-direct light necessary to maintain the cut-out shape; the bright beam has some scattering.  So I thought I would ask if anyone here happened to know of something that would work?  Thanks!

He actually goes around at night, looking for people who are getting mugged, and intervenes.Angle grinder man: He may not be able to single-handedly and totally cast off the repressive shackles of a corrupt government -but he can cut off your wheel-clamps for you.By day an odd-job man, this superhero goes around by night in a blue suit and red cape, wandering around Kent and London cutting the wheel-clamps, or "boots", as they're known in the US, off imprisoned cars. I'm working on a Robin cosplay, and I need some kind of wrist-computer set up for my iPod touch. Hopefully something fairly simple, since I really don't have much experience with nor access to major equipment. Any ideas? EDIT: Also, I still need some of the Boy Wonder's various gadgets and such. They'd mostly be just for show, but having at least some kind of decorative functionality (i.e. lights, sounds, lenses, etc.) would be nice. All opinions and ideas are very much appreciated!

Creating a light from recycled parts

Here is my dilemma. I have a Superman acrylic plastic emblem. I removed it from a former toy and now I have an idea that I would like to make a light out of it. As you can see by the photos, it's not very big. It's length is roughly 2 inches, and I plan to sand the ridge down so it can slide inside a PVC pipe adapter. I have a landscape capsule light, so it doesn't have excessive heat, and it has direct light. I am trying to figure out a way to use all the material to make a light with a Batman Signal light type stand. (See Instructable for the the Batman Signal light) If anyone can assist me or give me some ideas, hints, suggestions so I can put all this together, it would be terrific. I will post the whole thing when I am completely done. Thanks!!!

How can I make a Bookcase Door?

Scooby-Doo movies became famous for it, spy movies have been known to have them, Batman had one, and yet... I used to live in Kansas, before I moved to Arizona, and while I was there I visited a place called Science City. It is basically an indoor amusement park with funky gizmos like a hologram of a fist sized diamond behind a painting, and a rocking chair that doubles as a power generator. But the thing that interested me most was a wall that revolved at the center, becoming a door that would lead to another room. I asked some of the employees about it, but it must be a trade secret since they all said they couldn't, or wouldn't tell me. One of them even denied the existence of such a wall! Ever since then, I have seen various recreations like this in spy and mystery movies. I think that this would be the coolest thing ever. You see, when you turn the wall around, one side is a fake bookcase, the other is a blank wall. It turns 180 degrees, then you have to turn it the other way. I want one of those in a cabin that my family is building up in the mountains. Since it would have to be custom built, I would need a very good idea of where to start. Anything in the way of advice, answers, or even speculations anyone could give me would be absolutely great. Sincerely Yours, Zelback1

What props/armor are a must-make in the DIY world?

I'm currently looking towards making something like weapons, armors, etc., specifically those with origins from movies, cartoons, video games, etc. Other than the ones everyone does such as Halo, Iron Man, knight armor, etc. what other armor, weapons, or accessories are a must-make or just plain awesome? Think along the lines of something like the Batman gauntlet, except from movies (or something) that are old but still remembered and cool. Also thinking of a long term project of a chiken-walker mech costume, exoskeleton costume (NOT Iron Man), or AT-RT. What do you think?

Easiest and Cheapest way to paint a latex mask?

Hey every one. With Halloween coming I’m preparing to make my Two Face costume. Because I don’t want to paint half of my face I’m using half of an (modified) store bought latex mask. My last step should be the most difficult, painting it. The half of a mask will be doing a lot of moving so I need a flexible paint. I’m only an amateur, but have read some about painting latex. Most methods I’ve seen require mixing different substances. I’d like to get away from that if any was possible, I’d like to make this as easy as I can. The other thing is that it has to be very cheap. I’ve already spent too much money on this costume, and would like to not spend too much more. If anyone knows a type of paint that is flexible and cheap please tell me, because I really need one. Thanks every one. Hope to hear from you soon.
