I have a small solar set-up and was about to wire in a second battery and increase my available amperage. I just read an article about only connecting batteries of equal power, voltage (which I understand) and AH (which I was surprised). I hadn't realized that AH may also play a part in this. Can someone tell me if this is true? I have 2 older marine batteries and I change over the wires from the charge controller to recharge them separately. My thought was to wire them in parallel, let them charge together and increase my amperage at the same time. First one is 12 vdc / 80AH 2nd one is 12vdc / 60 AH I also have a 12 vdc / 160 AH that will be coming out of the boat soon and was hoping to hook that in as well (once I pick-up another panel).

Hi, I'm building a mini BB-8 unit for a project and going to make many more for a club. My biggest problem I'm encountering now is the battery needed to power it. The entire circuit draws around 500mAh and runs  on 3-5V. I don't think a 9V battery is enough to power it or even a AA battery no matter how many i put on it. The online guides that I found uses 18650 batteries either salvaged or bought. However, from where I come its very expensive to buy this batteries and it the charger cost even more. So I was thinking of buying this cheap 2400mAh powerbank that is sold commonly here. It outputs 5 volts and can be charged by USB. This powerbank cost about the same price of a 9V battery but only have life span of about 2 months which is good enough in my opinion. My main question is are there any other alternatives to power this circuit at a cheap price and is it possible to use a powerbank to power this circuit? Tq for any help and suggestions.

Battery safety

Hi guys, I was wondering if it's dangerous to touch two wires hooked up to a 9v battery to each other. They heat up really quick, could they make the battery explode or do something else bad if left like that for any long period of time? I tried to search for the answer, but couldn't find it.

Battery power

I have a battery powered laser on top of a spinning disc. This laser runs out of battery fairly quickly, I need to make it last longer somehow. Could I wire the laser to multiple batteries to make it last longer? If i manage to find a mains powered laser then it spinning constantly wouldn't work as it would have a wire. I ideally need to find a way to power this laser (probably 2 lasers) for most of a day with something that fits on a fairly small spinning disc. Any ideas? Cheers

Batteries in a series?

So if you were building an electric car and needed to up your voltage by wiring multiple Pb batteries in a series would you only get the watt-hours of one battery like you do with capacitor capacitance, or would you get all of them combined, or at least a little power capacity boost.  Also, would using lithium-ion batteries like these in a series be ok. lithium

Battery Pack?

Hello everyone,  I want to build a battery pack so that I can charge it with solar.  i bought some 12v 1.3ah sealed lead acid batteries but they don't do the job that I want to and they are not very appealing.  So I have seen the tesla powerwall and it is great and also slim, so what I want to do is to buy different batteries which are the panasonic 18650 and the stack them together to my own specifications so that they can power small things such as lights and pumps.  The packs that I will make would be small at first just to test and have an idea. So is it worth investing in these battery types or just buy some sealed lead batteries and then stack them together.  Thanks

Paper Batteries

Has anyone read anything about the up and coming Paper (thin) batteries ? Paper Batteries: A paper battery is a flexible, ultra-thin energy storage and production device formed by combining carbon nanotubes with a conventional sheet of cellulose-based paper.A paper battery acts as both a high-energy battery and supercapacitor, combining two components that are separate in traditional electronics. This combination allows the battery to provide both long-term, steady power production and bursts of energy. Non-toxic, flexible paper batteries have the potential to power the next generation of electronics, medical devices and hybrid vehicles, allowing for radical new designs and medical technologies. What do you think? Will it replace these monsters one day?

Battery power

I am attempting to calculate my amp need for my garage in order to set up a 12v battery system. Using the formula; Watts / voltage = amps drawn, I have hit a question. If using a 12v battery system and converting to 110v, should I be using 12v or 110v in the formula?Example; 100 watt light bulb / 110 volts = .91 amps. Nice! But if I use the 12v; 100watt light / 12v = 8.3 amps.I'm believing I would be drawing 8.3 amps from the battery to power this light.Plus the converter draw...Please tell me which is correct?

Battery recommendation

Hello, I'm looking for a rechargeable battery for a project and I'm not having any luck finding a suitable one.  Here's what I need: The battery will need to be between 12 - 18v with between 1-2 amp.  This will be powering a set of speakers, so not really sure what type of amp hours I need.  The battery will need to fit into a tin lunch box.   An idea I had was to use a 12 or 18v battery for Power Tools - not sure if it will work though.  I also found this, not sure if it is powerful enough though. Any thoughts/ideas is appreciated.

Will this battery explode??

Silly question, but I really wanna be on the safe side.  I just received this battery charger for my phone, but wanted to change the case, so i removed the original case.  Then I looked at the battery, and saw that the (-) of the battery is not soldered to the PCB at all, only the (+).  I know that lithium batteries are dangerous, so I just wanted to ask if it's safe to use. It was like that, I didn't accidentally rip it of. There are even no marks on the (-) connector sticking out from the battery. Can someone please let me know if it's safe to use?  I added some images pointing out the place and the board.  Thanks a lot for your help. George

Battery Wiring?

I have new Li-ion batteries for my mac but i wasn't completely sure on how to wire it up to the old circuitry. I know that "vg" is the ground and the "vp" is the positive. I am assuming "vl" goes to the wire "vl" i dont know what that is thought.  But there is a "vh" spot on the new battery but on the old circuitry there was no wire going to there? Do I solder that wire there? There is also two very thin wires labeled ntc, i can not find a spot on the old circuitry for that is it necessary?

Batteries and charger? Answered

So I got one of those one cell battery bank that come also with a little crank generator. So far I took both of these apart to make one into a 2cell. So now these batteries are a parallel, my ? is if the voltage stays the same with the charging board and the mah is double this should not effect the board correct? and or the batteries. So far its been working both batteries reads the same voltage so the charging board must work. Now hear is the thing that I am concerned with, if I was to add 6 more into a parallel then all batteries would be the same MAH right. This should not damaged the board?

Tablet with dead battery: buy a new battery or create a dummy battery?

Hi guys, I have an android tablet with a dead battery so it won't turn on (it hangs on boot screen). Like cellphones and smartphone, if I use the tablet with the wall adapter and without the battery won't start. The battery is a 3.7 v, 22.2 Wh (6Ah) type, it's dimensions are 0.45 x 11.3 x 10.5 mm. So I have a choice: I can buy a new battery or create a dummy battery. I've searched ebay, amazon and other site but unluckily seems that I can't find a replacement battery (or find a seller that can ship a similar battery to italy). In the other hand, I don't know how to create a dummy battery. Can you help me with finding a replacement battery or teaching me how to create the dummy battery? Thanks in advance :)
