Freeze dried green bean snacks?

I would like to know how to make this really good snack. We have a ton of green beans in the garden and would like to make my own homemade snacks. I think I might know of the freeze drying process, but would like a recipe for the coating that is on the beans. The beans I have eaten have just a slight hint of sweetness to them. What is used??? Thanks for any help!!

Dried bean experiment need help or ideas

Greetings,  My experiment, I heard that taco bell makes their re-fried beans out of a bag of dry mix. Im am not sure how true this is but wanted to see if I can make my own mix. My first experiment is to see what happens if one grinds up dried beans and try to cook them. The problem is I don't know of anything that can grind up a dried bean. I did find some grain grinders but I don't know if they are up for the task and the cheaper ones seem to break easily based on the reviews.   I suppose I could bash them between a couple of rocks, but experience has taught me that the part I want to keep will most likely go flying.  Any ideas will be appreciated

is there anything special that should be done to seeds/beans (from my own plants) before planting them?

I plan to plant a bunch of different veggie plants in my backyard and have been shopping for cheap organic seeds. i have a bunch of them and have started growing them in an indoor greenhouse, but for later as i replant i was wondering if i need to do anything with the beans or other seeds before just putting them into the pots.

Hi everyone i recently tried roasting chickpeas as a snack and they worked out pretty nice with a good texture but I'm not to keen on the taste, so i was wondering what are some good alternatives to chickpeas as a toasted snack. preferably something around chickpea size that can be flavored with things like onion powder, and will have a nice crunchy texture  :) thank you! Fluorescent Plants

Recently I presented a science teacher in my school, Mr. Zhang with the idea of growing plants with tonic water which contains quinine to see if they would glow under a black light. Today we saw that these bean sprouts had defused and taken in the tonic water, as a result the bean sprouts were fluorescent under the black light. I first chose the mung bean / bean sprout because I know that bean sprouts are translucent and it would be easier to see the glow, but now I want to find out if the seed will take in the quinine, and if so would the quinine be in the flesh of the plant at all. Another test that Mr. Zhang and I were considering was to use a tonic water in a hydroponic system to see if the plants utilize the quinine. Dr. Paul Williams suggested that I grow fastplants in the dark, because their stem is translucent is grown in the dark. (Mr. Zhang knew him from a workshop he did involving fastplants) I'll be updating this as I continue the study, I'll start growing very soon, as soon as I order the supplies that are necessary. The picture below, is of two mung beans, the one on the left took in the quinine, and the one of the right is normal.

Coffee substitutes

I wonder if anyone, with experience, can make Instructables explaining how to make coffee substitutes. I understand that coffee substitutes have been made from different sources: chicory, dandelion roots, coffeeweeds, garbanzo beans and, grains. Cassia occidentalis is known as Coffeeweed in some parts of the United States and as Hedionda in Puerto Rico. The Cassia occidentalis and Senna occidentalis produce a very aromatic brew. It was used once during a coffee shortage.

Best motor for speed control - ( low rpm - spin 1Lb of coffee)

I'm looking for a motor can have its speed varied, down to 1 rpm if needed and that can be done with a simple circuit. I'm building a coffee roasters. I hear that AC induction motors are hard to have their speed changed. The load will be about a pound or so and the motor will spin a cage full of beans over a heat source.  I dissasembled a bread machine and the motor is induction which I have heard is not able to be accurately speed controlled.  DC or AC?  I've seen electric drills used to spin the bean cage. What about a treadmill motor?

how to do a double stitched seam? or any strong seam, bcuz i want to make a 6x6" squares for bean bag toss game?

I understand first start off with a simple stitch with a seam allowance from the cut edge like a 1/4 inch. The part that confuses me is that u have to run another stitch but either it goes higher or below the first simple stitch? I dont know this. And how much room to leave of leftover trim?? and i look-uped and they said the second stitch should be 1/8 of an inch from the first stitch. which leaves me again to the same question. or will a zig-zag stitch be stronger then 2 running stitches? Pictures would be great for me to see how a double stitch would look like...
