You know at carnivals they have those "wacky bikes" Ride it like 6 feet or so and you win a little pocket motorcycle. I would like to make one. Not sure where to begin or if this is easy enough for me (I have no metal working tools other then a dremel and a grinder). Basically, the wacky bike is a bike that when you turn the handlebars left, the wheel goes right.

Hi ppl, thinking about building a tandem bike (with the idea of turning this into my mechanically powered water raft) and just wondering if anyone had advice? or, an Instructable on how to do so, had a quick look on here and couldn't find anything so any links would be appreciated. Thanks

I've been looking around for a new bike, roadster, the thin ones for road and urban travel? Almost curtain that’s the right label, but what kind, what should I look for, specs, design, weight, color? Help a fella out, I’m new to the bike scene and my old wheels just won’t cut it. Also, what kind of bike does Armstrong use in competition, mainly; tour de France (of course of course)? And if you’d be so kind, what’s YOUR favorite kind of bike? Lastly, best deals on these bikes? ( I’m on a budget people, aren’t we all?)

I am working on a motor bike that i had originally decided to go gas with but the motor dosent work anymore so i changed my mind and went electric. i was wondering if i would still need a jackshaft with an electric motor. it is a 24 volt motor out of a powerchair. i don't know specifics on tourque and hp, but it's pretty powerfull, and turns quite a few rpms. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Hey, I'm much more of a mechanical guy than an electrical one, and yeah, I'm trying to be won over, but I think this project might help me bridge the gap if I can get it rolling. what do you guys think about buying maybe six or so friction light generators and disconnecting the lights, putting two on the front wheel, four on the rear, (they rub on the side of the tire) and wiring them all together to produce a power source? like I said, I'm horrible with electrical stuff- maybe you could even build a larger generator like I saw in another instructable, but do you think it'd be possible to either create a car-adaptor-style outlet, or even a functioning regular power outlet with that idea? what about an electric bike that charges itself while pedal in that sense? talk to me people!

Has anyone ever heard of an elliptical bicycle? I came up with a design that would pedal using the walking motion of an elliptical trainer and you could stand up or sit down. I recently have seen a video from Maker faire and caught a glimpse of a bike with a similar design. Some minor differences included: The use of a chain ( I think that might give more room to walk/pedal opposed to my design with no chain), the pedaling is higher, and it looks more sturdy. This is helping me produce a better design. A glimpse at the other design is around 7:00 to 8:00 in this video. I hope someone has heard of it.

I ride on a bicycle patrol around my neighborhood three times a week. (6-8 miles, good exercise) I also have another bike with a Wilderness Motor on it. (36 V, 600 Watt motor) I don't use the Wilderness bike much anymore, but how could I wire a gizmo to charge some AA and/or AAA batteries?

Oh I'm looking into building an HMD for biking. I have the idea of using a miniature lcd from one of those video glasses to project an image onto a piece of one way mirrored acrylic and mounting all of this on a pair of safety glasses. an app displaying current, max and avg.speed and direction on my iphone would provide the information for the display. I'd likely have to add blinders on each side to block out light from the side. but because it is so bright on the other side of the mirrored acrylic i would be able to see through it making into a hud/hmd. any way i have a couple of questions. 1.) do the glasses display whats on the iphone at all times or only during videos? 2.) is this even feasible? below are images of what the iphone displays as well as a rough 2D solid edge drwaing

Along with other minor changes to my bicycle, I really (really) want to turn my bike into a tricycle. I figure having one front wheel and two back wheels would be the best (and by best, I mean simplest) arrangement. I'm also guessing that it would be fairly easy and perhaps weld-free. I want to get metal tubing/a metal rod that is the same size as my back axle, have it be about 4 feet long, and place two wheels on either side. The gears would be located in the same spot they were, just attached to the axle and not the wheel. I don't know how thick my axle is, but I can figure that out - the problem is, will the axle hold my weight? I plan on also loading some cargo (add, say, 50 pounds). I don't think the cost would be too much (over $50?) and should I need to weld something, my brother might still be able to do it. Do y'all think this would work? Would the axle hold 250 pounds of weight? If so, the axle could be threaded on the ends so as to keep the wheels in place, right? Thanks!

I remember seeing some kind of attachment that you could use to transform your bicycle into a stationery bike for exercise, but that was a long time ago and I can't find it. Can someone come up with a gadget to do that. I don't need the attachment which tells you how many miles or how fast you're peddling. I would just like to watch TV or read while exercising and I can't walk for any length of time without my back hurting so I also can't go anywhere on the bike.

Just got a new bike and size seemed fine until I got it home and tried it out for real. I cannot stop and get off the bike without huring myself on the crossbar. I am a 51 year old woman who hasn't been on a bike for several years. I don't remember women's bikes having such high cross bars when I had a bike before. Now all ladies bikes seem to have high cross bars. Has anyone any suggestions on what I should do to resolve my problem?

I have an electric bike that has a 24 volt 450 watt motor, running on the back wheel. would it be possible to fit a front hub motor on the front wheel to ether help with charging the battery's while using the electric motor to run the bike or be able to power the motor when you have started to move. If this is possible what size hub motor would I need in the front wheel and what modification would I have to make.

I am looking for some good bike rides in SF, Marin, or San Mateo county. From the image you can see what routes I have biked so far (I have mostly just been getting familiar with the city). If you make a good suggestion, I will ride it, post a picture of the route mapped out on google earth, and give a short description. If you want I can even take some pictures from along the way.

Some kind of LED, so that the biking charges the battery which powers the LED? I know there's quite a lot on this site, but I've never done anything electrical, and need help with that. Also, I would like (in order): easiest, cleanest (no lines everywhere), smallest, and best looking one possible... And I need a lot of help with electricity...
