what can i do with an extra blue tooth headset?

What can i do with an extra blue tooth headset that is no more of any use?

Blue tooth, extra values

When using HC-05 and a bluetooth App to transmit a string like “hello” to an Arduino, I get the reading as * 12|99|99|hello# Any reason why I am getting those initial values before the string hello? How is this extra values getting into the buffer? The code is while (Serial.available()) { char inChar = Serial.read(); inputString += inChar; } Serial.println (inputString); inputString=””;

How to add and power a Bluetooth receiver to battery powered speakers? Answered

I have a iHome speaker that is powered off 4 AAA batteries. I want to add this bluetooth receiver to the speaker. The bluetooth receiver is powered off USB, but I want to keep the system battery powered.  Can I take apart the bluetooth receiver and solder the power connections to the power connections on the speaker?   The speaker is powered off 4 AAA batteries, so 6 volts.  (How many amps??) The bluetooth is powered from USB which is 5 volts, correct?   Would the 6 volts from the AAA batteries damage the bluetooth receiver?  What about current?

I need away to use my blue tooth ear piece as a transmitter to another blue tooth ear piece.

I need to be able to listen from a short distance away. sort of a spy device.  having its own coded freq. would be helpful too.

Adjustable Signal...radio, bluetooth, etc.

I am trying to figure out how to control a device that will be "off" while in the range of a transmitter (short range...under 10ft) and then turn on when it goes beyond the range of the signal. I would also like it to be an adjustable range. I was thinking the device would be "on" constantly as the transmitter tells it not to activate, but once it leaves the signal range it would activate.  Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds

I REALLY want Wireless headphones, but the caveat is that I want them to be earbuds.  I've seen people do all sorts of things to the big bulky ones, but I need these for stealth; I wanna listen to music in school! haha Don't try and tell me I ought to be studying either! =P The original plan was to use an RF transmitter and a RF receiver for each earbud, but RF modulation is static-ey and is subject to a LOT of interference. So the alternative is Bluetooth or other means of digital modulation.  I can't find a way to make your own "bluetooth" per se, leaving the only option to cannibalize another bluetooth device. Below is a quick sketch of what I had in mind.  I know there's more to it like resistors and whatnot, but I'll let you folks figure that stuff out. XD The idea is that the headphone hook around your ear and the receiver will hang off the back of your ear.  If you have any questions, just ask! =D Thanks for your help!!

How do I pair two blue tooth enabled devices that werent meant to be paired?

I want to pair a headset with a small speaker so that I can speak into the headset and through the speaker over a distance, kinda like an intercom system or a one way walkie talkie. So I could put the speaker in something, for ex,  like a trash can and trick people into thinking someone is in it.

Revolver with swing out cylinder

I was looking at guns on Wikipedia and saw a pic of a revolver with a swing out cylinder. I went straight to work and made the swing out cylinder, but I couldn't figure out how to make the rest of the gun and keep the cylinder from moving all over the place. I don't have a digital camera, but I can tell you how I made it. 1. Take a blue rod 2. Attach a dark grey connector on 1 end of the rod 3. Put 1 grey cylinder spacer on the rod, followed by 2 blue ring spacers 4. Put the blue rod through the hole of another dark grey connector 5. Put 2 more blue ring spacers on, followed by 1 more grey cylinder spacer and attach 1 more dark grey connector to the other end of the blue rod 6. Take 1 white rod and snap on 2 white snowflake connectors, then snap the rod into the dark grey connector in the middle of the blue rod (the dark grey connector should be in the middle of the 2 white snowflake connectors) 7. Take another white rod and attach a dark grey connector on 1 end of it, then slide the white rod through the hole of 1 of the dark grey connectors on the blue rod, then slide on another grey cylinder spacer and attach 1 yellow connector on top of the white rod 8. Do #7, but on the other side of the blue rod 9. For the handle, I took 3 green connectors and snapped them on to 1 white rod, then put 3 small green rods on the bottom of each green connector (Look below to find a little bit better explanation) 10. Take 3 yellow connectors and attach them to a white rod, then connect all 3 to the 3 green rods mentioned in #9 11. Take 3 more green connectors and attach them to a white rod and add 3 small green rods to the top of the 3 green connectors and attach them to the 3 yellow connectors in #10 BETTER EXPLANATION 1. A green connector has 4 places for 4 rods (I will call them teeth) 2. From left to right, it goes empty tooth, white rod, empty tooth, small green rod 3. A yellow connector has 5 teeth for 5 rods 4. From left to right, it goes small green rod (from the green connectors mentioned above), white rod, empty tooth, empty tooth, small green rod 5. Same as #2, but it goes small green rod (from the yellow connectors mentioned above), white rod, empty tooth, empty tooth If anyone knows what I'm talking about and makes these pieces & has a digital camera, please take pics and show me so ppl can see what I'm talking about. Also, if anyone finds out how to make the rest of the gun, please tell me and show me how you made it (but please don't take credit for my design of the cylinder & handle. If you mod/have to mod any of these 2 parts to make the rest of the gun, don't forget to credit me for the original design of the 2 parts). Also, if anyone does make the gun, please post an instructable for it. I would love to see the gun that I almost got to make. So please tell me where to go to get the instructable I you decide to post it. Also, the gun doesn't have to shoot anything. Thanks to everyone that contributes.

can I reprogram the radios in my cell phone for other uses like walkie talkie or shortwave CB Ham reciever?

Cell phones have radio receivers and transmitters ;  it can receive FM radio, transience Blue tooth, WIFI, and Cell phone radio several bands and frequencies.      It seems to me that those chips could be programmed for other frequencies for transmitting and receiving.  I haven't researched into how flexible these chips are and if they can be reprogrammed in the smart phone.  Maybe someone else has.

big telephone receiver for cell phone

Friends, I hate talking on the cell phone; it's too small, especially when I'm talking from home. I keep a land line so I can chat for hours on a regular sized telephone. However, I'm moving next week and won't be able to spring for a land line. Can anyone help me use an old-time big phone receiver with a cell phone? Blue tooth maybe? Or perhaps attach something to/around the cell phone that allows me to hold it between my head and shoulder and talk into a mouthpiece that's near my mouth? Thank you, evil geniuses, all... xo

Suggestions for harmonica hybrids

Hey, I just posted my giga-monica instructable and was wondering just what else I could use. To save you the search, I've hollowed out a spot about an inch or so long and just wide enough to house the connector of a usb device into a cheap harmonica. The idea being that you can insert something here to prove to your friends that yes, you don't have a life. So far, i've tried a flash drive, a 'Blues-tooth adaptor' (conceived solely for the name), but cannot think of ANY other devices you could use.. at all. In fact, to be blunt - what tiny usb devices can a computer use? (Picture shows roughly how much room you've got - no specific measurements because I'm looking for generic items, not specific models) Thanks in advance, McDouche

Tinkerdays 2012 | DIY | prototyping an arduino wall plotter

Tinkerdays 2012 | a 60 hour prototyping event Already the second day of tinkering and we are starting to make progress on our current project, "the hemiphterograaf". We are creating a wall plotter / printer based on the kritzler schematics. Check http://tinkerdays.wordpress.com to keep yourself updated, join the conversation, tell us what you want us to improve and let us know if you think we should write an extensive tutorial. Today will be exiting. - With the use of thermoplastics (beats lego & meccano for certain applications) we will tinker the pen holder. - install the arduino blue tooth shield - update the testcode to synch the steppermotors - complete the stand on which we will secure the steppermotors (which hold the penholder via thread) - install the stepper motor pulleys (and pray they work, if it does, it deserves its own tutorial, more on this later) current state: we'll continue the day at 24/07/2012 | 12:30 GMT

Can you point the way to a DIY audience response system?

Audience response systems are invaluable tools in classrooms but I can't afford the $1.2K that companies want me to spend for a pack of 24 units! I've got 35+ students in my class! Background: Electronic audience response systems allows admins to poll a large number of users on a large amount of questions. My students (G9-12), in general, do have (newish) cell phones. (New cell phones, like new tennis shoes, are a status symbol and among even the poorest students I've seen them with new expensive cell phones). Most students do not have wireless enabled laptops/handheld computers/ accessible in the classroom. What's worse is that many school network admins flat deny student access to school's wireless for fear of security/porn/ inappropriate material etc.The open answer/polling time would need to be able to handle responses from a variety of inputs at different times i.e. little Johnny takes a little longer than Janey to answer the question so we can't have to wait for one student to enter their response before the next student. This time delay in fact would nearly defeat the purpose of gathering responses efficiently.I'm very interested in seeing if a blue tooth receiver/software package could handle the polling of 30+ cell phone connections at the same time.Your help in this matter has enormous potential to achieve a Johnny Lee wiiboard like effect on classrooms worldwide.Alternatives: paper pollingAs noted below, paper polling doesn't scale very well. If I'm performing secretarial duties of sorting paper then I'm not doing my job as a manager of a classroom and education. I feel that any teacher that is still pushing worksheets/quizzes/ etc. on paper then that teacher is working too hard and not working smart.IR remotesI've looked at trying to use off the shelf IR devices that could be used as a polling device. I believe the problem is in the IR receiver being able to identify each individual IR device. How to mod an IR so that it only has a unique signature connected to each signal?
